DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings, warriors of Lin Tirian, and you gladiators, too. I have persuaded
(beaten into submission) Teo to allow me to write this column which is properly mine.
I earned it in honest combat and will defend it against all so-called warriors
currently enrolled in this arena.
First, a few relevant-type comments on this and that. The martial art I
practice--successfully--is not called "kung-fu," whatever that is. Something
Alastarian, I gather. It has a peasantish sound to it, doesn't it? Crude and
violent. I have never heard that the Alastarian masters of this Kung-Fu have offered
any philosophical observations, much less advice. Of course, rumor has it that this
"kung-fu" stuff was invented by Dwarves, and you know what they're like. Not a
philosophical bone in their hairy little bodies. Not much better than junior Orcs,
really.
My style--you probably couldn't pronounce its true name--is a deeply
philosophical one based on what we call The Way of Water. I will be glad to
demonstrate it to anyone with the good sense and courage to seek me out.

Thankyouthankyou. It's great for me, The Unknown Spymaster to be back in LIN
TIRIAN. Hope you enjoy the show. Oh, who am I kidding? I already got paid! Hey
everybody, watch out for NATALIA NECROANGEL, who flew up 15 points in the rankings
after mashing M. CHARDINEE like a melon. Keep your eye on this gal. In front of all
the crowds, KARA HELLBLADE took the Duelmaster's crown for hers own. I give the bum
two weeks. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at
bay.
But enough of that bunch, let's get on to the wimps who like to avoid battle!

PEOPLE. Big bad TREE PEOPLE. LIN TIRIAN's afraid of the big bad TREE PEOPLE. Tra
la la la la! Okay, so I may not be funny, but catch PROJECT: MAYHEM's act in the
arena. Those acrobats seem to be fairly deft at running from TREE PEOPLE.
Death is kind of like a new puppy: he's always around wanting to play. (Ha
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?). Remember: alliances are great, but try and
take your ally in the arena with you and see what happens.
Well, there's the manager of the LIN TIRIAN giving me the 'cut' sign (or is that
'They're going to strangle you in the alley?). Well, there goes another Spy Report.

FACE-TO-FACE XXXIV
Our next Winter Face-to-Face will be held on Martin Luther King weekend, Friday
through Sunday, 14-16 January 2005, at the Embassy Suites in Tempe, Arizona (4400 S
Rural Rd--this is the same hotel as last year). Room rates are $139.00 per night,
1-4 occupancy, which includes breakfast. The rooms are blocked. The reservations
number is 480-897-7444; tell them you're with the "Reality Simulations Face to Face
Convention" block. Our room block will be released in mid-December, so please make
sure you reserve your room before then!
Room rates include a full cooked-to-order breakfast and a complimentary two-hour
manager's reception. There is a free shuttle to the airport, as well as free parking.
The hotel is located down the freeway in Tempe. All rooms have high speed internet
(for an extra charge). There is a fitness center, jacuzzi, and pool, and of course a
bar and Mexican restaurant inside the hotel. And there's Denny's right across the
street. Look for transportation info in the tournament information sheet.
The tournament information sheet/strategy sheet should be out sometime in late
November/early December.
If you haven't been to a Face-to-Face before, you're overdue. If you have,
