                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly LIN TIRIAN games. Former top team PBA was unseated
this week as TREE PEOPLE moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot with a 3-1-0
record for the round. J W BOOTH caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial
commission as he skillfully bested DISHONEST JUSTICE and was awarded 15 points in
recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, BAMBOO put down SHANA THE
KNIFE, causing her to lose 12 points of recognition in the process. Most watched of
the fights this week, the spotlight was on SPYMASTER as he bore arms against the Dark
Arena Challenge of reigning Duelmaster 150. The crowds were amazed this turn, as
SPYMASTER killed the Duelmaster, 150, leaving PBA in mourning. With bloody hand
APPLE-TREE has ascended to the throne of champions. Is she that one which is spoken
of in the ancient texts? Informants "close" to the city champion have told me that
he never fights without pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city LIN TIRIAN. Mighty fighters cannot but expect competition from those
below. CORK TREE take warning! You have more than a few enemies in LIN TIRIAN.
Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand
ready at your right hand forever! Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears
arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
The girls are as pretty in LIN TIRIAN as ever I remembered them....and the
fighters as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Sadly warriors, now longer can I
keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till
we meet again, remember: a turtle walks slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no
one; a lion runs to slay its prey.-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

Boxwood -- (crossly) I never expected such hostility from a BOX. Why, you're
practically CARDBOARD. -- Irlon the grumpy

Redd -- So, what are you legendary for? -- Jigger Kree
P.S. All the legends of my acquaintance are either tall or female.

Thermal Meltdown -- You certainly brought me to the point of meltdown! When you did
that sort of shimmy thing.... -- Telorgan

Why is this Embezzling Scribe person still around? He should have been punished and
sent home, or else killed out of hand. -- Shana the Knife

Lady Protector 150 -- We, meaning, again, the arena staff and crew, have been talking
over the possibilities, and we wonder whether you and your recently graduated
teammate would be interested in an alley? I know it doesn't sound like much, but
Arbreck--he's our Ambitious Guard--says that it's a SPECIAL alley. Something about
bowls. I suppose if you're into soup, bowls are good, but what they have to do with
alleys is beyond me. Anyway, we make this offer. -- Arenamistress Mignonelle

                             HAMMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Be it known from the highest mountains to the darkest alleys of Alastari that
the veteran manager known far and wide as Hammer has now officially retired from
sponsoring contests as of September 15, 2005.
What a long time ago was a fun motivated activity to help promote our common
DM/D2 gaming interest in an effort to promote the growth and competitiveness of
selected arenas has become a far from fun experience.
In other words Hammer has had it!
The combination of real life situations interfering with the time needed to
effectively sponsor a contest, plus the attitudes expressed during such sponsorship
interference has led to Hammer closing his personal coin coffers and retiring from
his planned sponsorship of any future contests.
There are others in our close knit gaming community who are well able to step up
to the plate and continue sponsoring contests that make the basic game a fun
experience for all those who choose to compete and interact in such future endeavors.
Hammer thanks all managers both active and inactive who helped to make the
Hammer sponsored contests a historical and entertaining experience well worth the
time, effort and money spent over the past several years.
May the Cheers and the Jeers of future contests build upon the legacies of those
who have paved the way in years gone by to help make this game what it is today.
Hammer has no regrets for the part he has played in that history.

I'd like to say hello to everyone I know that is still around after my being gone for
five years. Hope to see you all on the sands, and may your weapons strike true and
your shields protect you (except, of course, against MY warriors *grin*)!! -- Lord
Xiang, D2-101

Regarding the Regional News:
If any of y'all glance at it and find some arenas are behind, rest assured I'll
get them caught up next time around. I was trying to unsnarl the darned thing, but
it was just getting worse, so I decided gradual and partial was better than not at
all or ever. -- The Saint, keeper of lists
