Apples fall from the trees. So to all we eat one at a time so life is short at
the top of the arena.

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of LIN TIRIAN! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp
Eyes, Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Former top team TREE PEOPLE was
unseated this week as FURY'S EDGE moved up from 3rd ranking to take the top spot with
a 3-2-0 record for the round. CLINT caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial
commission as he skillfully bested SIRHAN and was awarded 20 points in recognition.
In one of the week's more notable duels, CLINT put down SIRHAN, causing him to lose
18 points of recognition in the process. Although IRLON made a valiant effort, it
did not suffice to topple the reign of victorious APPLE-TREE. Informants "close" to
the city champion have told me that he never fights without pantyhose on beneath his
armor. Watch out!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. Loose talk at the arena has
reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are after CORK
TREE. Watch your back!
Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand
ready at your right hand forever! Dark alleys may hide both secrets and assassins.
In the arena there is only the brightness of steel. Keep vigil always!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? More than a sharp eye must I keep, indeed a
stout pair of legs must I keep as well! The endless paths of Alastari await me!
Till we meet again, remember: a turtle walks slow, hides head in a shell, and harms
no one; a lion runs to slay its prey.-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

Cork Tree -- I hate a stubborn woman. Especially a stubborn woman who's taller than
me. Although it helps that you're an orc, and I'm practically nose to ahem with you.
-- Jigger Kree
Spare-One -- Take that, you murderer of houseplants! -- Irlon
Spare-One -- Actually, Irlon couldn't care LESS about houseplants. Go ahead, kill
one in front of him and see if he faints! -- Jigger
Bamboo -- It's horrid that a beginner like you should get matched against someone
with experience, even if it isn't much experience. But it's MUCH WORSE that you
should defeat me! -- Shana the Knife, contemplating the proper punishment for someone
who does MUCH WORSE things
Cyric -- Wow, great fury there! What an edge! You were alomst orcish! -- Mirial
Steel
Irlon -- You are the one and only that gives good and I broke. -- Boxwood

HAMMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Be it known from the highest mountains to the darkest alleys of Alastari that
the veteran manager known far and wide as Hammer has now officially retired from
sponsoring contests as of September 15, 2005.
What a long time ago was a fun motivated activity to help promote our common
DM/D2 gaming interest in an effort to promote the growth and competitiveness of
selected arenas has become a far from fun experience.
In other words Hammer has had it!
The combination of real life situations interfering with the time needed to
effectively sponsor a contest, plus the attitudes expressed during such sponsorship
interference has led to Hammer closing his personal coin coffers and retiring from
his planned sponsorship of any future contests.
There are others in our close knit gaming community who are well able to step up
to the plate and continue sponsoring contests that make the basic game a fun
experience for all those who choose to compete and interact in such future endeavors.
Hammer thanks all managers both active and inactive who helped to make the
Hammer sponsored contests a historical and entertaining experience well worth the
time, effort and money spent over the past several years.
May the Cheers and the Jeers of future contests build upon the legacies of those
who have paved the way in years gone by to help make this game what it is today.
Hammer has no regrets for the part he has played in that history.
19 September 2005
I'd like to say hello to everyone I know that is still around after my being gone for
five years. Hope to see you all on the sands, and may your weapons strike true and
your shields protect you (except, of course, against MY warriors *grin*)!! -- Lord
Xiang, D2-101
5 October 2005
To those once of Willaf -- It's time to come back to the sands. I'm back,
exclusively at Willaf.... -- Kurd the Vivisectionist, Your Better
