PLAYER COMMITEE SLOT 6 VOTING:

Due to the delays in starting the Shadowspire arena, as well as its large size, I am
extending the terms of all members of the player's committee by one month.

Slot 1 -- Chairman = Smitty of The Consortium, now expiring end of April 2007
Slot 2 -- Blackstorm, now expiring end of June 2007
Slot 3 -- Slugbair, now expiring end of August 2007
Slot 4 -- Apex, now expiring end of October 2007
Slot 5 -- Rillion, now expiring end of December 2007

Slot 6 -- May 2007 through Feb 2008
Slot 7 -- July 2007 through April 2008

I will now take nominations for slot 6 on the player's committee. If you want to be
a candidate you can either:
1) E-mail me at DekeYoung@Comcast.net
2) Send me a private message on the Duel2 forums
3) Send a Diplomatic Note to Doc LeGrand s Lab (81)

I will announce the candidates on turn 6. Voting will be based on the number of
fights your team participated in during turns 1-5. Each manager will be able to vote
for 2 candidates. In the obscure chance of a tie, the player committee will decide
the

Voting will be done by:
1) E-mail me at DekeYoung@Comcast.net
2) Send me a private message on the Duel2 forums
3) Send a Diplomatic Note to Doc LeGrand's Lab (81)

At this time I have not considered how to handle fraudulent votes. I am going to
work with RSI on a way to get each manager a Voter ID #, probably via diplomatic
note.

The second and third place candidates will automatically be candidates in the next
election.

I am a candidate for slot 6. I am listing Blackstorm and Master Beru as candidates
since they were candidates for the original player committee.

The player committee is currently determining who will take over Smitty's chairman
slot when his term expires.

Daggers Deep

The wagon rattled rougly down the cobblestone street, though its passenger would
not be complaining this day, or any other. The driver urged the beast onward, his
day was far from over. His job was to deliver the slain warriors to the city morgue,
and the day was young in Shadowspire, home of Alastari s newest arena.
Kayelbe watched the ambulance roll by. Gathering his plain brown cloak around
him, he smiled at his own good fortune that day. So far, his gladiators were in no
need of the ambulance driver's services. His stable was victorious in its first two
matches, although they lost the following pair. Someone must lose every time, he
thought to himself. For each victory there is also defeat. But his good mood was
tempered by the absence of his fifth contestant. For some unknown reason, his
warrior Rawn had not arrived at the arena, and he intended to find out why. A
cheer from the crowd erupted. Kayelbe turned to look back at the arena. The massive
walls seemed to vibrate with each roar of the spectators. Reminded of the task at
hand, the manager of Daggers Deep pressed onward through the crowd.
Further away from the arena, the streets of Shadowspire were nearly deserted.
Kayelbe made his way to the door of a nondescript building. Located near the edge of
the arena district, the modest single-story structure served as the lodging for his
new stable of warriors. Sending the door open with a crash, Kayelbe stormed inside.
"Rawn!" No answer. Kayelbe waited for his eyes to adjust to the darkness
inside. He made his way down the hall, stopping at the first door. "RAWN!" He was
about to unlatch the door when he noticed the trail of vomit leading towards the back
of the building. Following it outside, he stopped cold at what he saw next.
Sprawled in the courtyard was his young warrior, Rawn.
Kayelbe's fists clenched with fury and his jaw tightened, causing the veins in
his neck to protrude. He bent down and grasped the young man's collar and jerked him
to a sitting position. "Look at you! Have you been drinking again?"
"Of course he was," a booming voice proclaimed. Turning, Kayelbe let loose of
Rawn, the latter's head smacking the ground with a dull thud. The manager stood to
face the brawny warrior known as Bander Tyl.
"Didn't I specifically tell you all not to go out last night? This is
unacceptable! He is in no condition to fight!" Kayelbe's face reddened.
"Hey, boss. Whoa, what's up with Rawn?" A diminutive young female entered the
courtyard, followed closely by two larger men. "Is he drunk?"
"Yes, Gwynneth, he is," Kayelbe spit through gritted teeth. "I specifically
told you all to stay out of the taverns last night," he repeated.
"Um, boss? We--that is, uh...Gwyn, Bander, Raeg and I, um...we did as you
requested and stayed here all, um, night," one of the warriors, the one called Yruf,
stammered.
Kayelbe paced across the courtyard for nearly a minute. The four sober warriors
huddled together, unsure of what to expect from their new mentor. Finally, the
manager of Daggers Deep regained his composure. "This had better NOT happen again.
Now, clean him up. I've got to go see the Committee and explain why I broke The
Pledge our first week in Shadowspire."

Everything about him screamed Corp... look, attitude, body language... but he
was green, nervous. Hell, he was a kid... a kid in a suit that was too big for him,
in a chair that was too big for him, in a world that was too big for him, in a
business that was going to eat him alive. Standing next to him was apparently his
bodyguard... If I had to guess, this bodyguard was new to the game as well. Damn,
another chip-head! Can't stand still to save his life, or anyone else's for that
matter. His name was 'Slick' huh... Slick... whatever.
Being a corp goon ain't all that bad, the pay can be good, the gear can be even
better. And work is steady, but you can be teamed up with some real drek. Wonder
who I'll get this time. The kid gave me three names--I'm supposed to hook up with
them at Club Penumbra later tonight... joy.
"So Mr. McBain, do you need me to go over the instructions one more time?"
     His voice cracked.
"I know what I'm supposed to do, dont wor--"
I was lucky Slick was the only one standing, it must have brought more attention
to him. Craps for him... His twitchy reactions didn't get him out of trouble this
time, a blade was protruding from his throat before he could even speak. The kid got
cut down in an instant too, no surprise there--whoever this was didn't do his
homework though, he should have come after me while he had the jump. I dropped low
and kicked the chair backwards. It bought me enough time to turn and draw. It was a
big Orc ganger... Calypso Tan, I've heard of him, hired muscle... packs a wallop but
not a lot of smarts... I handled him with ease. Well, it's a messy beginning, and
I'm apparently not the only one who knows the run... but that's never made me quit
before. I guess now it's off to Penumbra to meet my team.

Here ye! Here ye!

Come down to the Gringolet Lounge today to celebrate the opening of the new wine
cellar stocked with the best wines in town, thanks to DeGotti and his insite. Those
who have not used their free drink coupon can use the promotion to try one of the
different high quality wines now in stock. There will be a grand opening for the new
addition at the beginning of the fights for the fourth fighting cycle. DeGotti will
lead the dedication of the new addition with a proper offering to Bacchus (and for
those who do not care for dedications you can go straight up to the upper floors for
wenching, drinking, and observing the fights as they happen).

                                   House of Hearts

                                    Three Swords

     "Can I get you anything?"
A gruff, middle-aged man with salt and pepper hair served the best drinks in
town, a simple look belying his knowing gaze. The odd thing... he carried an epee, a
sabre, and a foil, all on his right hip. A true gentleman with fine tastes in
liquer, swords, and games, he wore a cloak with the insignia of a heart with three
swords through the center emblazoned on the crest.
"I'll take the house special," said the dark figure at the end of the bar.
Five brave souls who reddened the sands every two weeks as champions of the
House of Hearts casino and alehouse had earned the right to their own special drinks,
whick came at a hefty discount each night they won a match, but usually didn't do
much for their own sobriety.

          Lucky Seven ............................. Ginger Beer
          Suicide King ............................ Brandy Wine
          Wooden Hand ............................. Whiskey Malt
          One-Eyed Jack ........................... Gryphon Mead
          Poker Face .............................. Andorian Rum

As "Three Swords" poured a bittersweet concoction of Gryphon Mead, the
unremarkable one gazed about the room. There was something mystical and surreal
about this place. Though dimly lit, people engaged in all manners of conversation
and drink. The soft plucking of a harpsichord could be heard as the notes filled the
hall and hung in the air like the velvet sheet of pipe smoke over the casino tables.
A small gathering of well-dressed men, all smoking cloves from long pipes gathered
about the center table as onlookers gathered from the floor and mezzanine.
"Hearts," said the Three-Sworded man, setting down a black mug with a similar
heart insignia relief on the side.
     "Excuse me?"
     "That's what we play here."
The game of choice for those with a stroke of luck and a purse full of coins is
Hearts. It's as serious as games come, and the only one that the Ancient One himself
has been known to partake of. (Though such a rare event would often bring powerful-
and-unusual-patrons to the establishment.) So serious, in fact, that only once has
someone ever attempted to use 'unnatural' methods to beat the house.
"I think the crazy buzzard was getting desperate," he continued. "Good thing we
emptied his coin purse or Mrs. Buzzard would have had nothing to carry him home in."
The sharp one winked wryly. The dark one drank, but looked unimpressed.
"Hey Val-is 'the old guy' going to grace with his presence or what?"
Disrespectful one-eyed bloke.
"If he wishes. It's his birthday, I imagine he can spend it how he chooses."
"I don't get it. He always disappears on his birthday. Why?"
The Three-Sworded man went by Balentine to those who knew him well. A reminder
of a dark past he'd just as soon forget. He didn't answer, but his change in
demeanor told the story. Death Eaters. You cheat death long enough, his henchmen
will come knocking from time to time.
"Yeah." Jack's one good eye stared at his reflection in his goblet."
"You ever ask him how old he is?"
Will he ever stop asking stupid questions?
"I could, and you know what he'd say?"
     "Not a clue."
"... 'In the enening shadows of Daggerspine, find a tree that stands above all
others. Find that tree and sleep beneath it for two-score years, every morning
counting the birds that perch on its branches. Only then will you know two
things...that I'd be 40 years older than I am right now. And that you're a damned
fool."
"Hehe... you asked him didn't you?"
     He winks again.
The dark one slipped into the night. Forgettable enough that even Valentine
never thought to ask for money.
The young one had a swagger about him. Utterly confident. Impetuous even.
Which begs the question...what happened to his eye? One of the barmaids had a
theory...
"Jack sometimes works the tables when business is slow." Imelda said to Lilith,
the wide-eyed rookie, as they collected empty mugs from the tables.
     "Is he any good?"
     "... And then some."
     "I mean at the tables!"
"Right...no, he positively the worst gambler I've ever met. Lost his own eye in
a bet I heard."
"He lost his wife in a bet to the magistrate in Fratsfa," Paige chimed in,
handily managing three stools in one hand, and an empty mug in the other.
"What sort of knave bets his wife in a hot hand of poker?" Lilith chimed in.
"No, no... he was surely bluffing. I hear he had a pair of threes."

SHADOWSPIRE SURREALISTIC

"A brother offended is harder to be won over than a strong city, and [their]
contentions separate them like the bars of a castle." -- Proverbs 18:19 Amplified

WE HAVE A PROBLEM HAMMER was all the message had to say in the familiar
handwriting of GrimmDorr upon the parchment note that had been hand delivered by the
Winged Dispatch Rider as Hammer was pondering upon recent developments SomeWhere
BeYond the Realm of ElseWhere and ElseWhen.
"Time to return to my Elven War Castle on the outskirts of ShadowSpire Arena!"
Hammer surmised as he gathered a few scrolls and parchments before reaching within
the folds of his Elven War Cloak to withdraw an Elven Orb of Transport for the task
at hand.
Within mere moments the Veteran Manager was transported along the mysterious
routes of the various Time/Space/Dimensional/Portals that were ripped asunder to
allow the possessor of the EOT to seemingly step from one Reality to Another!

[TIME JUMP]

Hammer and GrimmDorr strolled along the parapets of the Elven War Castle, each
lost in thought, yet communicating at regular intervals as only battle tested
comrades are able to do on any given day or night.
"So what do you plan to do about it my friend?" queried GrimmDorr as The Warrior
Dwarf tugged at his beard in anticipation of the only answer that would seem suited
for the task at hand. "I have driven them as hard as inhumanly possible, but they
still refuse!"
Hammer looked out across the night sky as his mind warped through various
configurations in search of the most plausible possibility to address the issue. The
eerie lights flickering in the distance served as a reminder that things were not
always as they seemed within the dueling community known as ShadowSpire Arena.
GrimmDorr waited for a most proper amount of time before posing yet another
question to gauge where Hammer may or may not be in the managerial mix of things
presently, since an answer to his most pressing problem was yet to be uttered with
any clarity. "So are you still planning on sending another stable to the New SLOW
ARENA No Tourney Arena?"
The Warrior Dwarf knew the answer before the words had even formed within his
throat, but a foundation had to be laid for the next pointed question in light of
recent developments in the ShadowSpire dueling community!
"You already know the answer to that question!" responded Hammer as he stared
intently into the distant mists arising from the boundaries of ShadowSpire Arena.
"What is it that you really want to know? The paperwork has already been processed
by the Gladiatorial Commission and ElGon the Half Elf has dispatched a select group
of workers to make things ready for the opening ceremonies!"
GrimmDorr bristled at the thoughts conjured by the mere mention of his Conniving
Comrade in Combat who was undoubtedly lining his personal coffers with the gold coins
of the mindless minions who engaged in the games of chance that ElGon delighted to
utilize to separate the unsuspecting from their bags of gold and even silver that
were so easily wagered among the denizens of the dueling community.
What adventures were GrimmDorr missing as he dutifully attempted to prepare the
AARDVARK HAMMERZ gladiators for the rigors of the arena sand battles? A duty which
had seemingly failed since four of the gladiators were refused admittance to the
ShadowSpire battle sands on Turn Four due to some apparently misplaced paperwork by
the Gladiatorial Commission. Which had prompted The Warrior Dwarf to send the
cryptic message to Hammer in the aftermath of what had transpired from the frivolous
reply the Veteran Manager had received from a Posting to the Players Committee.
A reply that had driven the Veteran Manager to the brink of abandoning his
holdings in the various arenas throughout Alastari, but a time of solitude and
reflection SomeWhere BeYond the Realm of ElseWhere and ElseWhen had given Hammer a
renewed purpose and definite direction for continuing his managerial career and
focus!
Hammer could sense the growling turmoil grating within GrimmDorr at the
revelation that ElGon the Half Elf was entrusted with the details of making things
ready for a new venture on the battle sands with an as yet untested band of warriors!
"Your place has been here my friend," came the reassuring words of comfort to the
troubled soul he called more than friend. "Be not troubled by the unexpected things
that have transpired in recent days! These were beyond your responsibilities! Now
tell me what is truly troubling your thoughts this night and why?"
GrimmDorr tested the Blades of his Battle Axe against the rough veneer of the
castle walls and peered through the fading light at his friend and mentor. "Will you
still serve on the Players Committee of the New SLOW ARENA No Tourney Arena if your
managerial peers swing the vote your way?"
     "Of Course!"
"You are Certainly a Glutton for Punishment and Abuse!"
"There is a certain matter that needs to be addressed to deal with a possible
point of controversy that has been unspoken and quite possibly gone unconsidered by
the members of the ShadowSpire Players Committee," Hammer stated resolutely as he
stared directly into the gaze of The Warrior Dwarf. "A matter brought to light by
the pressing problem that caused you to contact me in the first place!"
GrimmDorr grunted an unintelligible response as Hammer proceeded to explain what
needed to be addressed to assure that an unprofaned level of competition be built
upon a solid foundation of guidelines, set in place and Understood by those managers
registering stables in the New SLOW ARENA No Tourney Arena that would open soon!

[TIME JUMP]

Lunch was being served to the AARDVARK HAMMERZ gladiators as Hammer silently
entered the dining area through the Elven Mirror of Migration that was placed
strategically in the Dining Hall where the gladiators were gorging themselves!
The five gladiators were speechless at the unexpected entrance of their
benefactor and manager who had so mysteriously disappeared from their presence weeks
earlier.
"So you refuse to fight in the ShadowSpire Arena?" questioned the Veteran
Manager as he stared intently at the rebellious collection assembled.
Slowly the affirmative nods greeted the gaze of Hammer as the Veteran Manager
studied the response of his ShadowSpire stable.
"Furthermore," came the reply from Hammer as a long pause for dramatic effect
riveted the attention of each gladiator in a wave of subtle scrutiny, "It is
understood that you demand to be sent to the Dark Arena? That your contempt for the
Player Committee member who publicly responded to my Forum Post in Jest without
following it up with a sincere reply to my dilemma, according to the procedures of
the signed Pledge, is so unacceptable in your sight that you would rather Die By
Torchlight than to continue dueling in ShadowSpire Arena?"
Quicker nods of affirmation greeted the gaze of the Veteran Manager as he drew a
long breath for added emphasis to his next response.
     "Demand Denied!"
The Elven Orb of Transport conveyed Hammer away in a Kaleidoscope of Brilliant
Sounds and Haunting Colors as the AARDVARK HAMMERZ stared at the whispering vapors
where Hammer had imposingly stood mere moments before!

[TIME JUMP]

Pouring over the scrawled sentences of the signed Pledge, each of the AARDVARK
HAMMERZ gladiators had come to the same conclusion as to how to address their current
dilemma and remain true to the decision they had reached prior to the emphatic
declaration of their manager Hammer.
"Then it is agreed that we [BURP] take this [BURP] course of [BURP] action?"
Each of his fellow gladiators extended their arms with Daggers in hand in a
solemn salute of affirmative action!
     "So [BURP] it then!"

[TIME JUMP]

GrimmDorr cursed as he searched the premises of the Elven War Castle for the
elusive members of the AARDVARK HAMMERZ stable who continued to refuse to assemble on
the ShadowSpire battle sands for the Turn Five Festivities!
"They are Gone on a Journey of No Return my faithful friend and committed combat
trainer!" Hammer stepped from the shadows of the noon day sun splaying from the
Elven War Castle parapets as The Warrior Dwarf threw his Battle Axe in disgust at the
sudden turn of events over which he had no control whatsoever!
"You just let them leave and go the Way of the Forbidden?"
Hammer raised his hand as a sign to cease the ravings!
"I have sent the papers to the Gladiatorial Commission," a message of caution in
the tone Hammer spoke quieted his fuming friend as his all familiar gaze spoke
volumes of explanation understood by one such as The Warrior Dwarf. "They made their
obvious decision and have embarked with one mind and purpose to fulfill their chosen
destiny! We Shall NOT Stand Against Them!"
A puzzled look momentarily froze the countenance of The Warrior Dwarf before a
tiny glimmer of understanding made its way to the surface of his consciousness.
"The Plan We Spoke Now Unfolds!"

                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Well, hello again, it's still me--your beloved Duel master, Alberta Clipper. I want
to start by sending a shout out to go old Nael Ghun who had the nerve to challenge me
last turn. Thanks, Nael, I needed the exercise but next time try to last at least
two minutes, some of my fans didn't get back from the beer stand before the fight was
over. This week I am sending big love to the Rodent Clan and I hope to give Mouse of
Pain the glory of being my next victim!!! I'm looking to keep the good times going
and the cold brew flowing so tighten those helmets because we got some fighting to
do!

Once again, I am Alberta Clipper and I'm JUST CHILLIN!!!

                                      SPY REPORT

So why do I have this bag over my head? Because I am The Unknown Spymaster and
I'm going to give you a spy report!. We now have a new top team for all of you guys
to dogpile on. CULT OF BACCHUS now holds the crown and they are betting they can
keep it. Rising in the ranks like a loaf of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny)
is RED IRON KNIGHTS, who swept up 12 places in the ranks. Take a look at
KNIGHTBLADE's act, as they have a 4-1-0 week and gain 17 places in the team ranking.
Rising in the ranks like a loaf of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny) is BIG
LAKE OUTCASTS, who swept up 14 places in the ranks. Take a look at DOC LEGRAND'S
LAB's act, as they have a 4-1-0 week and gain 21 places in the team ranking. Rising
in the ranks like a loaf of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny) is ERRATA, who
swept up 19 places in the ranks. Take a look at ETERNAL ABYSS' act, as they have a
2-1-0 week and gain 11 places in the team ranking. Suffering under a 1-4-0 record
and dropping from 7th to 22nd place were the AMERICAN MUSCLE. Keep trying! Rising
in the ranks like a loaf of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny) is KATHOUSE, who
swept up 14 places in the ranks. Take a look at CLAN IRONFIST's act, as they have a
4-1-0 week and gain 20 places in the team ranking. Rising in the ranks like a loaf
of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny) is WARMASTERS, who swept up 12 places in
the ranks. A seasoned team is steady in the lists. But to BLADESMEN, which fell to
34th, it's what you soak in before going to the Dark Arena. What goes up, must come
down. Watch out SHADOWSPIRE! CHILDHOOD HEROES may fall on you as it crushes past
the teams below it to fall on the 36th spot. Suffering under a 1-2-0 record and
dropping from 17th to 41st place were the MIGHTY MEAD ORCS. Keep trying! Hey
everybody, watch out for STUMP, who flew up 18 points in the rankings after mashing
4' THICK GLASSES like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. And falling like a basher
in the top ten was '69 DAYTONA, who dropped 12 points after a disappointing (to say
the least) bout with BRUTAL BOB. In front of all the crowds, MOUSE OF PAIN took the
Duelmaster's crown for his own. I give the bum two weeks. 4 out of 5 gladiators
surveyed protect the body, so try and avoid aiming at that location.
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the SHADOWSPIRE arena. Did
you hear that THE DRAUGS was most avoided team this week? Well, knowing the personal
hygiene of THE DRAUGS' warriors, I'm not surprised! Okay, so I may not be funny, but
catch JUST CHILLIN's act in the arena. Those acrobats seem to be fairly deft at
running from THE DRAUGS. Well dang howdy, but if challenges were votes, SENSUAL
SHREW would be president. Although it may be a contest she doesn't want to win. In
a touching display by a 'touched' warrior, MICEPICK went after BRENDAN BEHAN, who was
higher by 19 points. Well, when the dust settled, MICEPICK was bested by BRENDAN
BEHAN.
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! We might as well mark the
passing of TRG CHINSNAPPER, who was relatively new to the arena at 3-2-0. Probably
killed before his first shave. Yes, and another newbie bites the dust as TIRED TINY
TITAN goes down under the sword of DIRTY DIANA. Thanks to this, DIRTY DIANA now has
28 recognition points. In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?' category, DRACULARR was
mashed by MRS. VAUGHN, who let DRACULARR know that killing members of LIFE IMPACTS is
a no-no. Congrats to SENSUAL SHREW for revenging the death of hers teammate (but
more importantly, feeding ROUGE a bit of dirt). In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?'
category, THE SMALL CAT was mashed by CHAKHARI, who let THE SMALL CAT know that
killing members of KELLUMBO'S KIDS is a no-no. Congrats to FULL MOON SWOON for
revenging the death of his teammate (but more importantly, feeding GROND a bit of
dirt). In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?' category, '69 CHARGER was mashed by DREX,
who let '69 CHARGER know that killing members of KNIGHTBLADE is a no-no. Congrats to
TURN-PARRY-DODGE for revenging the death of his teammate (but more importantly,
feeding JUNKYARD DOGMA a bit of dirt). In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?' category,
CUERVO was mashed by SHADOW MOON, who let CUERVO know that killing members of TAINTED
SAINTS is a no-no. Here's some advice: warriors with little wit and will may
encounter problems on the trail to the Isle.
Well, there's the manager of the SHADOWSPIRE giving me the 'cut' sign (or is
that 'They're going to strangle you in the alley?). C'mon, Leadfoot, let's make some
tracks. Hasta la bye-bye. (Loud choruses of 'Beat it, ya bum!')-- The Unknown

-- The Life Impacts Clan

Drakester -- For your informational gathering, Life Impacts is not part of an
alliance, and is, therefore, an independent. -- The Life Impacts Scribe

For those of you who have never read on of Drake's Reports, you are in for a treat!
-- The Life Impacts Scribe

Toker -- Ya be daggone welome to this'n here Shadderspire. Yup. -- Smitty

Dracularr o' Vampirates -- Ya Skunkfacer! Yu Beedlebop! Ya dang well kilt muh
good'n Purple Ace. Gonna put yer under, yuh rodent! -- Smitty

Purple Ace was a 5(+1)-7-16-15-9-12-21 hosed init, blessed attack Aimer. May he rest
in peace, and GO PURPLE ACES! -- The Life Impacts Scribe

Hercules Hook -- Thanks for the challenge. I like smashing bricks. -- Cantex

Shadow Moon of Tainted Saints -- Welcome to the arena. Sorry it had to be a match
with Extrusion (us). Consortiumites everywhere send their "howdies." -- The
Consortium Elders

Sache -- Wow! You picked ME to challenge? Thanks! "We'll be true to the school
that we love so well ....." -- C.H.S.

Powr Goreslinger -- I'll have you know that my politics have me doing a lot of
slinging at that egotistical weasel Gore also. I wish you great power in your
slinging at him. -- Mrs. Vaughn

Of Wolf And Man, Daggers Deep, House of Hearts, Clan Ironfist, Tainted Saints --
Welcome, one and all, to Shadowspire! Make yourselves at home, and may you bury many
hatchets and grind many axes! -- Lord Xiang, mgr AARP

Alberta Clipper -- Congrats on another turn as Duelmaster! -- Lord Xiang, mgr AARP

All hail Micepick, most popular! -- AARP

Sensual Shrew -- Unchartered Recognition Leader. Well, go figure! *grin* -- Lord
Xiang

Borec -- Impressive. Not only that you won after three minutes, but that your style
is not known for dodging! -- Sponge Bath
P.S. Congrats on the Bloodfeud victory!

Djaik -- Thanks! Not only do you give me a victory, but five skills as well!
Challenge me again, PLEASE! -- Aluminum Walker

Mahatma Gumby -- Gall-dang you! -- Colostomy Bag

Krysta -- Interesting fight, yes? Let's try that again, seeing as those skills I
picked up are just right up my alley! -- Long Nose Hairs

Redsteel -- I would not try such a fight again, as my lord and master has just
announced a bonus for his warriors that cause others to die in the infirmary! -- 4'
Thick Glasses

Kayelbe and Daggers Deep -- Welcome to Shadowspire! Let me buy you and yours a
round at the Gringolet Lounge. Not only are the drinks cheap, so are the wenches!
-- Lord Xiang, mgr AARP

Le Pentarque -- Merci, mais alore tu te trompes. -- Lord Xiang (hoping his grammar is
correct)

Smitty -- Exactly! -- Lord Xiang

Life Impacts Publicity Committee -- Could you please speak up, and into the horn? We
can't hear a dall-gone thing you just said! -- members of AARP

Theta -- Consider it emptied. -- Colostomy Bag

Var -- I am sure the Commission will provide you with the Scum-type warriors you
seek, if you just provide them with the approrpiate finders fees! *wink* -- Lord
Xiang

Woody -- I think you should also do like other athletes and add your first initial in
between your stage name and your chosen title. As you are an athelete, you can
choose the initial A to go between your title of Sporting, and your managerial name.
-- Lord Xiang

Master Beru -- Ah, but the goose was cooked, was it not? -- Lord Xiang

DeGotti -- Indeed this arena is one of the best I have partaken in (so far), and I
shall gladly cross swords with you and yours! -- Lord Xiang and AARP

Temp Ed -- Ah, but that is quite alright! Ed will be smothered in Scrod at the
earliest opportunity, providing that there are no other Aradi exports! -- Lord Xiang

Well, if this makes her throw up and leave me proofing longer, I will not be
     amused. -- Temp Ed.

Bladesmen -- You would deny me the opportunity to spill the blood of others? Quite
selfish of you, IMO. -- Sponge Bath

Aranthar -- I have not heard your former master's name in ages! Please send my
regards! -- Lord Xiang

Alema D'rav -- The party is at the Gringolet Lounge, where else?!? See you there! --
Lord Xiang and AARP

Pauly -- Then you are truly a TOGS addict! *evil chuckle* -- Lord Xiang

Rodent Clan -- Your taste in beverages is scary! -- Lord Xiang

DK Toker -- Who is your yet un-named team? The curious are inquiring! -- Lord Xiang

Rillion -- I hope your week has gone well enough to allow you to swamp this
newsletter with more p-ads! -- Lord Xiang

Sgt. York -- Not exactly sure what to say about that challenge. It was. . .
interesting. -- Copernicus

'69 Daytona -- Are we talking 440 or 426? With the power you showed in that fight,
I'm going to go with 440. -- Da Vinci

Black Sun -- Welcome to Shadowspire! I hope my gruff greeting does not discourage
you from competing here. -- Joan of Arc

Callina Aillard -- Drop the off-hand weapon and pick up something bigger. Always
adjust your weapons for the armor your opponent is wearing. Even if you don't meet
the Strength requirements, carrying a weapon that is appropriate to the armor is
better than carry an ineffective weapon. -- Gutenberg

Okay here are the personals I should have gotten around to writing last turn (Turn 3)
but didn't. -- Rillion

Lord Xiang -- With the number of warriors dying during the regular fights there is
not much need to send warriors to the Dark Arena. After all most bad warriors will
be killed off soon enough anyway. Also many managers could have put a good team
sheet into this arena thereby reducing the early demand for the Dark Arena. At least
that is why I did, I recruited a team with 5 decent warriors to begin with so I would
not need to spend early turns filtering through acceptable recruits. -- Rillion

Kendric -- Honestly, I am an innocent soul that will cause no problems for anyone.
Fortunately though I did win a Manager on the Sands competition a few years ago and I
am safe in the knowledge that the Lady Greywand will help cure any case of death I
happen to catch. -- Rillion

JGW -- Hmm...an 'attractive' offer there but I am not sure it is one I am willing to
take up. I have heard a rumor that your lounges are located at very high traffic
intersections and prone to being crashed into by idiots drag racing carriages. It
could make for a dangerous evening. -- Rillion

TGG -- Yes, but only temporarily I assure you. You might be faster but I have
stamina. -- Rillion

Allana D'Rav -- Grrr, you are faster than I expected. Perhaps one of my guildmates
can do a better job of avenging our honor. -- Beregdraug

Micepick -- Nice pick of a challenge, HAH! I'm brilliant! -- Celegdraug

Spin1 -- Well done, I almost had you there but you held on. -- Bregdraug

Death Knight -- I am glad you gained the benefits of that train AFTER the fight and
not before it. It might have ended differently. -- Angrendraug

Ann Vyl -- An unfortunately first match up for me. I shall hammer away at you again
in a dozen or so fights if we are both still alive. -- Dagrdraug

Okay, now I am caught up. -- Rillion

Shadowspire -- Let it be known that Clan Ironfist is managed by Straynger. --
Straynger

Allana D'Rav -- In a perfect world I would have won that match and learned a bunch...
let's just say that it is not a perfect world... -- Cedric Ironfist

Dirty Diana -- Some might say that I didn't stand a chance in our bout... I'd be one
of 'em. -- Rupert Ironfist

Alema D'Rav -- Thought you had me, then thought I had you, then you had me. -- Freddy
Ironfist

Boing! -- What kind of name is that anyways? -- Evan Ironfist

King Cobra -- Silly Golem. Swing next time. -- Conrad Ironfist

Woody -- How about "Big" as an adjective? Or you could go military with "Major" as a
title. -- Your helpful friends at Clan Ironfist

Anvil Ironfist -- You look... familiar... -- Clan Ironfist

Spotlight writers -- Well done, one and all! -- Clan Ironfist

Damn, my warriors who are not supposed to kill keep on killing. The small cat played
a little too long with his prey. Kellumbo, I hope your guy wasn't too good, the cat
is going to hide under a bed. -- Le Pentarque.

Aargh, will somebody heat this M. Freeze?

Salute to our first Duelmaster!

I knew this Swoon would visit me again, halas. -- Import-Export, quiet.

Come on, Blackie, get this mouse! -- Le Pentarque

Djohey Djr. -- Perhaps you should have exercised and increased your strength, since
your weak wristed swipes with that scimitar failed to do much damage. -- Yruf the
Steel-Skinned Golem.

Hugh -- Lucky for me I caught my second, third and fourth winds! Unlucky for you
that you caught my scimitar more times than that. -- Raeg Trops

Bregdraug -- Did somebody say 'Go'? No, really. -- Bander Tyl, the Unready.

Wonder Woman -- Typical woman, unable to read the signs. 'Pausing' and delaying,
it's all a matter of trying to let you down easy so when the inevitable hammer comes
down you won't be so pathetic and weepy. -- Brendan Behan, a kind-hearted soul
willing to delay gratification

Theta -- Ahh well, I figured it was worth a shot. A longshot but worthwhile
nonetheless. Or in retrospect, not. -- Chesterton

Krek -- I had no choice, it had to be done. Who can stomach moving up the rankings 3
points at a time? Look at poor Ann Vyl. At that rate it'd take 30 wins to to hit
the peak of the charts. I deserve to be far more Top of the Pops than that. It's
rank descrimination.... -- Edward Gorey

Edward Gorey -- Discrimination?, you lazy sot! Is it discrimination that every AB
and PR wanders onto the sands is far more likely to wind up in a meatgrinder than the
winner's circle? Of course not. It's basic Darwinism you putrid scum. Every
slothful, complacent, cubicle-cowering drone like yourself deserves not only to be
scarlet-lettered, but to be slowly rotated on a spit above a high-wattage long-
lasting light bulb. -- Sherman, mgr. Literate Loons

Var -- You see the negative influence my sensitive soul must battle against? Sign me
up for your tortoise shell staring contest and I'll prove myself once and for all....
-- Edward Gorey

ALL -- Let it be know that the careless, irresponsible actions of my warrior, Rawn,
will not be tolerated. He will surely be on the sands each week, rain or shine, DAY
OR NIGHT. -- Kayelbe, Manager of Daggers Deep.

Fulton -- I hope you teach my young one some nice skills this turn. -- DeGotti

Smitty -- Congrats you are now the proud owner of the lowest dead ID number in the
arena. -- DeGotti

Welcome to all the new teams who just arrived over the last couple turns. -- DeGotti

Master Beru -- "Wardrobe malfunction"? The images from that are really not good. If
that is the only other option, perhaps he should keep the snake suit. -- The Baron

Pauly -- Go easy on him? Perhaps he should have gone easy on Grok? Well, he
survived, I guess that qualifies as going easy. Actually, I was rather impressed. --
Anvil Ironfist

Clan Ironfist -- Welcome to Shadowspire! I had not expected to find others bearing
the honorable moniker. -- Anvil Ironfist

Chaucer -- That makes two. With each successful bloodfeud Zanzibar rests a bit
easier. -- Aldebaran

Consortium? -- Uhm, little papers? Okay. Is that French for something I should be
concerned about? -- Aldebaran

Stellion -- Nice fight. Very close. -- Baron Stonewall

Shadow Crown -- Swing! All I needed to do was swing! Next time. -- Hardrada

La Pentarque -- remember...Greed Is Good!! -- Mr. Freeze.

Vampirates -- Are ya having fun yet? You keep on chasing me at the bottom of the
arena while the big boys get farther ahead. Mr. Freeze was right--you guys are too
easy. -- Frosty.

DJAIMZ -- Seven minutes, not bad--if you had lasted 10 maybe you would have learned 5
skills--I ought to charge you for the lessons. -- Icicle.

Spin1 -- Being on the Might Ducks I would have thought you could handle the cold
better, maybe you were from the roller blade mighty ducks instead. -- Snow Cone.

Plaguenog -- Man, you were THAT close--maybe if you used a real weapon you could
actually do enough damage to make it hurt--next time try COLD STEEL.

Edward -- If it is gore you seek, it shall be gore you find. My development
continues and soon I shall be incredible, then I shall find you once more and it will
be I that walks away to the roar of the crowd. -- Powr Goreslinger

Var -- If you are looking for scum warriors, contact Rillion and Greek Guy, it has
been their specialty for eons. Those with challenged minds will always turn to plate
clad buffoonery, and their stables carry so much plate armor they have their own
north pole. -- Den

Woody -- We reviewed your request from last turn. As always, the Allied Axis is
ready to help our fellow managers. It is very important to use fitting adjectives as
part of your moniker, as demonstrated by our very own Philthy Phil. To know him, is
to know his true filth. Granted he is filth personified, but we find some degree of
deranged ambition in him, thus he is happily our 9th in Command. We met at the famed
Allied Axis Decision Table just last Wednesday and debated appropriate adjectives for
you to place as part of your name. First, let us offer the many prefixes we
brainstormed for you: "Tiny," "Bent," "Soft," "Tainted," :Untouched," and even
"Filthy." For suffixes we could only come up with "Woodpecker" which we did not
think was real original, but wanted to pass it along as well. We wish you the best
of luck in your quest, and please do not hesitate if the Allied Axis can be of
service to you in the future. -- Den, High Priest of the Allied Axis

DeGotti -- I did not appreciate that diplo you sent last turn. It was sick and
perverted; you should be ashamed of yourself. -- Den

Lord Xiang -- Your application to the Allied Axis has been received. We appreciate
your interest and will contact you regarding try-outs in the future. This will be
discussed. -- Den

Drake -- Oh, simple little Drake. Your comments were taken in the vocal form as I am
sure they were expressed upon the arena. You can attempt to spin a web of confusion,
but the Arenamaster is not easily fooled, and takes these matters gravely. You will
learn not to tarnish the good reputations of those around you. This very turn, if
you do not avoid, 1 of your warriors has been targeted for extermination. That is
but a small example of the true power of the Allied Axis, we can reach wherever you
choose to cower. Indeed, curl into the fetal position and hold your knees close to
your chest, rocking and weeping with fear, this fuels our thirst to bring a malignant
form of horror to your doorstep. Share a hug and a kiss each and every day, for it
may be your last. We understand you champion idiocy, and have turned a cheek to you
in the past, but now a blood debt must be paid, and we will collect. Hopefully your
day is filled with disgust, poor luck, and hated stares from those around you. --
Den, High Priest of the Allied Axis

Coming to Shadowspire soon, ELEPHEST 2007!!

Shadowspire -- The lambs have stopped crying and I will now break my silence. --
Elephant, Manager American Muscle

Nuln -- Has your nutsack made it to Shadowspire? -- Elephant

Indimar -- The chip off the old block summed it up best when he said "You are one
pathetic loser." -- Your best friend, Elephant

Coming to Shadowspire soon, ELEPHEST 2007!!

Pauly -- How did you let that tool out eat you? -- Elephant

Wayne Smith -- Glad to give you a walk down memory lane. -- '69 Charger

Sgt York -- Don't worry, I will. -- '76

Coming to Shadowspire soon, ELEPHEST 2007!!

Knightblade -- We're really not trying to be a torn in your side. -- American Muscle
P.S. See ya in the BFs.

Shrew -- You are one slippery little sucker. I bet Doc held you out just for this
arena. -- Elephant

Alberta Clipper -- Grats on the title. It was a honor to be involved in the first
Title Fight of Shadowspire. I look forward to a rematch someday. -- '69 Boss

Coming to Shadowspire soon, ELEPHEST 2007!!

Dragonbane Guild -- So, um, had enough? -- Grolsch

Chayn Saugh -- Defense huh? Hmm, you may be on to something. I'll have to look into
that ;) -- Czechvar

Everyone keep your fingers crossed. I'm going for my fifth straight 2-3 turn to
start the arena. I know what you're all thinking. "Wow, I wish my team had that
kind of consistency." Well, with a little hard work and determination, you too could
become a model of mediocrity. Just look at me, I am living proof. -- Pauly

Angrendraug -- Well now, seems I'm doing a bit of something right lasting as long as
I am in these fights. To be WINNING one soon might be a nice change. A well fought
battle, sir. -- Barodan

Gutenberg -- I had you on the run for a moment but then I got tired. Guess I'll just
have to work on my conditioning a bit harder -- Callina Aillard

Arvinius -- My thanks for the fine learns...and you are welcome for what I taught you
in return. An exciting match, indeed.. I thought you had me in that first minute.
-- Marcus Brenson

Granite -- See..that's what you get for challenging me. A mouthfull of sand because
you were too tired to stand up. Next time I might even hit you. -- Erkym Poll

Vynar -- You didn't teach me much, but then again, Revenge has its own rewards, don't
you think? -- Airyc Zyrr

All -- I am only going to be fighting 4 warriors this turn. My replacement warrior
Hasn't made it to RSI yet so I can't manage a full stable. All should be back to
normal next turn. -- Wretch mgr. Tainted Saints

Master Darque -- Seems you got the best of me here so far. I will have to try
harder. -- Wretch

Cuervo -- It seems you killed me. My manager would normally be upset but he thought
I sucked so it's probablty no big deal. -- Ghost of True Night

Philthy Phil -- I don't mind who you killed but I can't really let killing anyone go
without trying to avenge it. Cya around. -- Wretch

Ashlyn -- Nothing like a sword to the chest to make an impression -- Green Angel

Hardrada -- Nice fight. I wasn't expecting to win when I saw your style. Maybe next
time will be yours. -- Shadow Crown

Extrusion -- Damn you and your style. -- Shadow Moon

Joan of Arc -- If I had a different weapon it might have been different. As it turns
out I was cursed by the gods and it was best you won any way. May I wish you a good
career as mine is over? -- Black Sun

Hammer -- Sorry to see you leave just when I got here. Oh well, we can still battle
it out in other arenas. -- Wretch

All -- I am officially resigning from the Player's Committee effective with the
posting of this newsletter. I had hoped that the Player's Committee would be an
independent body that would be able to set its own course and determine its own rules
and bylaws. Unfortunately it is clear that Doc LeGrand has no intention of
relinquishing any control. He has arbitrarily and unilaterally set new terms for the
members and new procedures for voting. Further rather then an open process it is now
going to be a secret ballot conducted entirely by Doc LeGrand, the very person
running for the open spot on the Committee. If one day the Player's Committee
eventually evolves into something other then an expression of Doc LeGrand's whims
then perhaps I shall seek to serve this arena at that time. -- Rillion

Var -- You know you're just asking for opportunistic scum-hunters to come looking for
easy kills. -- Drake

Barkily -- Well, you hit harder than expected. -- Ann Vyl

Alberta Clipper -- You can take a hit better than I expected. Nice come-from-behind
victory. -- Nael Ghun
P.S. Expect me back after I work my way back up the ranks.

Derrik the Red -- Zat would be ze colour of my face after zat match. -- Jaques Hammyr

Deana -- No fair using my own weapon against me! -- Chayn Saugh

Lola -- Well, you've got stamina, that's for certain. -- Drylpress

Master Beru -- Well you could help me by losing to some of my warriors. That would
be very helpful! -- Rillion

DeGotti -- With over fifty managers in this arena it might take a while to cross
swords with them all. Which is a very good thing. -- Rillion

Lord Xiang -- Doubtful, there will always be hold outs among some of the managers. I
know of several that don't like the concept of restrictions being imposed on them. --
Rillion

Allana D'rav -- That is assuming of course that I can manage to beat you once.
Grumble. -- Rillion

Wow, we had more bloodfueds and challenge matches than we had random match ups last
turn (turn 4), the same was true for Turn 3. This is a nice trend and fairly
impressive for an arena of this size. -- Rillion

Ghas -- That fight was a gas. -- Celegdraug

Fountain -- Very exciting fight it was a shame I lost it but fun none the less. --
Beregdraug

Barodan -- Tough luck, it is looking like I am the toughest Draug of the bunch. --
Angrendraug

Bander Tyl -- That was sweat, I like fights like that. -- Bregdraug

Lucius -- That was much better for me then my first fight. Thanks for 'being there'
for me. -- Dagrdraug

ALL -- Sorry everyone, no ads this time around. I will do better next time. --
Master Beru

A private invitation is extended to the following managers to observe the fight cycle
at the fifth floor of the Gringolet Lounge;

Doc Legrand Tripwire Hammer The Greek Guy
     Lord Xiang Den Smitty Rillion
     SwineTiger Apocalypse Elephant DeGotti
Seraphim Blackstorm Master Beru Master Darque

Please arrive in your best attire, for the celebration of the opening of the lounge
and the dedication of the new wine cellar to Bacchus, the god of wine. There will be
a full service bar and food for all invited. -- Joseph G. Wellington, proprietor

Shadowspirians (?) -- Sorry for the late introduction, I'm just lazy on the ads...
Good luck to all here and have fun... -- Hombre

     How about "Shadowspirits"?

Calypso Tan -- I was going to Subpoena you for a wrongful death claim as your bulbs
caused obvious massive skin cancer to Slick, but I hear you're getting recalled. --
Hombre

Tired Tiny Titan -- GOH! Darn it, as soon as I got to the arena and saw who I was
fighting, my teammate bet me I couldn't say your name 5 times fast, and I couldn't
pull my focus away from that to concentrate on our fight... I have since said it
though... (yay me!) -- Bernard Slotto

American Muscle -- Hey, I'll be taking that winding road to Kucserka's where I pass
Joe Rogers road... any advice? Maybe keep one eye on the road and the other....
well, I guess that would be it wouldn't it? -- Hombre, master of the inside joke...

Son of One Pathetic Loser -- 'apple' ... 'tree' -- Hombre

Nuln -- I'm already WAY past my alotted personals, but I felt that I needed to send
you the obligatory, how you say "shout out". I will admit, I expected a 'Legzest' or
a 'Bloodwarmer' or even a 'Zestagyle' ... <sigh> Be careful, I may have to pledge my
undying allegiance to someone else... -- Hombre

Pauly -- I've heard word around town that you're going to bring down the thunder.
Just give me advance warning. -- Nuln

Indimar -- I wouldn't go with Pauly to the top of Shadowspire if I were you. I read
the draft, and he pushes you off a cliff on the way down just when you let your guard
down. Just fyi. Alright, peace out. -- Nuln

Rillion -- On behalf of Shadowspire, I accept your apology. -- Nuln
P.S. Is a draug like an oompa-loompa?

Jacob Prolov -- Less wodka, more praktice. -- Doris

E.E. Cummings -- I'm no poet, but that sucked. -- Saucerhead Tharpe

Jord -- I'm guessing if you worked at a massage parlor you'd give facials. -- Sadler

Mia Hamm -- Eh, I'm gettin' too old for this *#$@. -- Barking Dog Amato

No offense to the victims, but I think it's funny that two people have been killed by
a sponge bath. -- Red Iron Knights Scribe

Manager of Sorex -- I await your blood feud. -- Tinnie
