TEAM SPOTLIGHT
RETURN FROM THE MOUNTAIN
STARRING PAULY AND THE ALE HOUSE MERCS
Pauly sat in his favorite booth at the Gringolet Lounge, enjoying a fine ale and
mulling over the mixed news he had received after returning from his horrible, yet
wondrous, journey to Shadowspire Mountain. The bad news was that his best warrior
and captain of the Ale House Mercs, Red Tail, had been killed. Pauly raised in mug
in a silent salute to the proud warrior. He wondered if Barnabas had heard that Red
Tail had been killed. After all, Red Tail had sworn revenge on Barnabas for the
fiasco in Aradi (Shadowspire newsletter turn 2). The good news, however, was that
some able warriors had finally emerged out of the mass of beer bellied mercenaries
and Pauly's team actually had posted a winning three turn record (barely). All of
this occurring while he had been fighting for his life on Shadowspire Mountain. This
amazed Pauly to no end, since he had left Red Tail in charge. He wondered which of
his warriors had stepped up and taken charge. Most likely Grolsch, but he wasn't
sure since he hadn't been by the guild house since his return. Pauly drained his
ale, threw down some coins, tossed the barmaid a wink and headed for the door.
As he crossed out into the street, Pauly couldn't help but feel that the
previous paragraph was extremely boring and way too serious. He decided he must be
spending too much time away from Aradi.
Almost on cue, Nuln appeared running down the street in his burnt sienna Chaos
Jogging Suit(tm). Why it needed spikes Pauly wasn't sure, but it looked cool.
"Hey Nuln! Where you running off too?" asked Pauly
Nuln stopped in front Pauly and stooped over huffing and puffing trying to catch
his breath. "Those damn new warriors of mine keep sneaking over to the blacksmith's
shop to stare at the fire. I'm just trying to get over there before they break
something."
"Well, they are cavemen," said Pauly.
"Like I need to be reminded of that. I gotta run." And with that Nuln was off
like a Chaos Rabbit(tm).
As Pauly approached the guild house of the Ale House Mercs he happened to glance
down an alley way and couldn't believe his eyes. Two men stood together and Pauly
knew them both. One was Alberta Clipper, a big brute of a fighter who had killed two
of Pauly's warriors. One of whom was Red Tail. Seeing Alberta wasn't what shocked
Pauly though. It was the man standing next to him. Barnabas. Pauly tried to push
his way through the busy streets to get to the alley but his vision was blocked and
by the time he reached the alley it was empty. Did Barnabas pay Alberta Clipper to
kill Red Tail? It was not beyond the man. Pauly planned to find out, but first he
was going to find out who had been running the show while he was away.
Finally reaching the guild house, Pauly saw Grolsch lounging around out front.
"Grolsch! Good to see you! So, who's been running the show for me?" asked
Pauly.
Grolsch opened his mouth to answer but changed his mind and instead said, "You
better just see for yourself. He's in your office. Hey! What the heck happened on
your exploration of Shadowspire Mountain, by the way?"
Puzzled by Grolsch's response, Pauly pushed his way into the building saying,
"I'll tell you later, but needless to say, it's probably the greatest story you'll
ever hear."
Pauly's curiosity was piqued as came to his office door. He pushed it open to
find a monkey sitting in his chair. Apparently he was in the middle of redecorating,
and by redecorating I mean throwing his poop all over the walls. The chimp looked at
Pauly and smiled. All Pauly could was stand there and stare and say, "What the funkenwaggle!?"

Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings Shadowspire!!
It is a great honor to serve as your Duelmaster. My first order of business is
to remove Aldebaran's skull from the throne room and return it to Dragonbane Guild
for a proper burial. I know you will avenge Aldebaran.
The last two turns have been great for me personally. I took much enjoyment in
knocking off two of Shadowspire's biggest loud mouths in Chakhari and Burm Wolfsnarl.
One last question for Chakhari. If you're a "tourney worthy Duelmaster" that must
make me a "Tourney Worthier Duelmaster"?
My memento for the throne room is a DVD copy of Starsky & Hutch. The codex
entry is "I wuz here".

Rising in the ranks like a loaf of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny) is
4-LETTER CAVEMEN, who swept up 15 places in the ranks. Take a look at CULT OF
BACCHUS' act, as they have a 4-1-0 week and gain 14 places in the team ranking.
Rising in the ranks like a loaf of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny) is
LITERATE LOONS, who swept up 11 places in the ranks. What goes up, must come down.
Watch out SHADOWSPIRE! FUCHI OWNED may fall on you as it crushes past the teams
below it to fall on the 19th spot. Take a look at BLACK ROSE's act, as they have a
3-2-0 week and gain 11 places in the team ranking. Rising in the ranks like a loaf
of armored bread (okay, I admit it's corny) is CLAN IRONFIST, who swept up 14 places
in the ranks. Suffering under a 3-2-0 record and dropping from 14th to 25th place
were the KATHOUSE. Keep trying! A seasoned team is steady in the lists. But to THE
DRAUGS, which fell to 28th, it's what you soak in before going to the Dark Arena.
What goes up, must come down. Watch out SHADOWSPIRE! THE MONGOLOIDS II may fall on
you as it crushes past the teams below it to fall on the 31st spot. BIG LAKE
OUTCASTS is no joke as it posted a 5-0-0 week advancing from 21st place to 17th
place. Hey everybody, watch out for RUPERT IRONFIST, who flew up 19 points in the
rankings after mashing DJOHEY DJR. like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. Ya
know, some days it doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. DJOHEY DJR. was subdued by
RUPERT IRONFIST and drops 18 points. Well here's a duelmaster that doesn't sit back
and say 'Challenge me'! '76 GRAN TORINO made a challenge against HA-THRUST! this
week. Going for the gusto and coming up with aught but bloody knuckles was D2 MIGHTY
DUCKS' HA-THRUST!, who was turned away from the Duelmastership by '76 GRAN TORINO.
Can you believe they are paying me 10 gold to deliver this stuff?
Here is other news that is of note. Did you hear that BIG LAKE OUTCASTS was
most avoided team this week? Well, knowing the personal hygiene of BIG LAKE
OUTCASTS' warriors, I'm not surprised! For those of you who like math, try this one:
BIG LAKE OUTCASTS + Weapons That go Boom = KELLUMBO'S KIDS + Avoid City. Well just
about everybody wants a piece of BORING!?!, who was this week's most challenged
warrior. Getting lots of flowers from sympathetic fans was SEDUCTION HAMMER, who was
successfully challenged by POWR GORESLINGER who had a mere 24 points more than
SEDUCTION HAMMER. Definition of petty: POWR GORESLINGER won victory over SEDUCTION
HAMMER, a mismatch of 24 points. Challenging down 19 points was INDIA. Pretty soon
she'll be using two shields and selling 'T.P.: The only way to clean up' pins.
Definition of petty: INDIA bested MURAT, a mismatch of 19 points. Can any one out
there say 'weasel'? Oh well, just saying GARK will do. He challenged 16 points down
to trash FERAL FERRET. Definition of petty: GARK overcame FERAL FERRET, a mismatch
of 16 points. In a touching display by a 'touched' warrior, THE BIG CAT went after
BURM WOLFSNARL, who was higher by 24 points. Well, when the dust settled, THE BIG
CAT was defeated by BURM WOLFSNARL.
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! Carrion Bird Cinematic Humor:
TURN-PARRY-DODGE II: THE REMATCH. DRAGONBANE GUILD has one more week to get their
bloodfeud off. I talked to the manager, but he could only grunt 'ALDEBARAN who?'.
Ya gotta luv em! In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?' category, BRENDAN BEHAN was mashed
by TROG, who let BRENDAN BEHAN know that killing members of WAR MACHINE is a no-no.
Knowing when to use the right tactics at the proper time is a very important step on
the road to Duelmaster.
Well, there's the manager of the SHADOWSPIRE giving me the 'cut' sign (or is
that 'They're going to strangle you in the alley?). C'mon, Leadfoot, let's make some
tracks. Its been fun, and I'm sure you enjoyed it (boos). Now that I've got you

I have not been receiving my physical turns in a reliable manner lately. If there
are diplos with the turns that go missing, they're gone for good. So if you send me

Years have passed since the last Slaughterhouse, but the season is right for a return
to STORMCROWE! Join us in DM-45 for the STORMCROWE SLAUGHTERHOUSE II.

TEAMS
*Teams will consist of two (2) managers. No more, no less. Only one team allowed
per manager. Violators will be disqualified from the competition. Old teams and new
teams are welcome to join the competition. Once the contest has begun (TURN 263)
managers MAY NOT exchange teams or partners.
SCORING
In the tradition of the Slaughterhouse, scoring will be simple and straight-forward.
Victory and achievements will be rewarded while defeats will be mocked and ridiculed.

SPECIAL SCORING CONSIDERATIONS
*Fights against teammates garner NO POINTS.
*Fights against Judith's team (Northern Lights), Arena Stand Bys and the Dark Arena
garner NO POINTS (this includes DA kills).
*Tourney participation is allowed (even encouraged), but NO POINTS will be given for
success in those endeavors.
*NO POINTS will be awarded for DM, Popularity Leader, Chartered Recognition Leader,
Top Chartered Team, Stylemasters, Top Unchartered Team, and Unchartered Recognition
Leader. Every effort has been made to insure scoring neither benefits established
teams nor new teams.
ENTRY
Entry into the Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse is easy:
*Find a Partner
*Declare your intentions in the Stormcrowe newsletter to enter before the first turn
of the contest. You may also email or diplo Master Darque.
*Each manager entering the Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse must submit one (1) Team Roll-Up
Certificate. Only certificates will be accepted for entry. All certificates
submitted will be used during the course of the contest as prizes.
PRIZES
*ENDURANCE AWARD: One (1) +1 Bonus Potion will be given to every team that competes
in 60 of the 65 contest fights.
*KILL MASTER AWARD: The individual manager with the most kills will receive a
Limited Immortality Potion. This potion may be applied to one (1) warrior. He/she
will be resurrected ONE-TIME if they are killed in Basic D2.
*TOP TEAM AWARD: Each manager on the winning team will receive the following prize
pack for their Slaughterhouse Dominance:
*One (1) +1 Bonus Potion
*Favorites Knowledge for one (1) Warrior
*Undisclosed amount of Team RU Certificates
Special note from RSI on prizes: All contest prizes must be used within three
months. All contest prizes may only be used on a living warrior on the participating
contest team in DM 45. The immortality potion may resurrect a warrior one time,
after a death in DM 45 only, after which time the potion disappears.
TIE-BREAKERS
In the unlikely event of a tie, pre-contest established tie-breakers will be
consulted to determine a winner. The tie-breaking criteria are known to the
Moderator and RSI. They will not be made public knowledge to avoid any exploitation.

Master Darque will be serving as Master of Ceremonies for the Slaughterhouse II. As
such, all his decisions are final. Any rules inquiries should be directed to him.
