(A knock at the door)
"Come in, the door's open."
The door opens to admit the guests into the parlor.
"Hey there Ben, great party!" remarks Dagrdraug, "I wasn't guite sure what to
expect, but your halloween party is out of this world!"
"You have no idea how right you are," chuckles Gentleben, "help yourself to
whatever you like. Dead Chef and Head Chef cooked up some good food. Oh, I would
watch out for the salsa, it's hot as hell!"
Dagrdraug makes his way through the crowd to the buffet table. He bumps into a
large man who appears to have lost something. "Can I help you find anything, Bill?"
"They hid my head again, I'll find it later, I don't feel like eating right now
anyway."
Bandit leaves Bill to his own devices and heads to the table. He had heard from
the crowd that Death's Mistress was getting some more punch and he thought he might
just say hello this time.
Darn it, Sye the Bearded got there first and was busy making his moves and she
appeared not to mind so much.
"Hey stud, see anything you like?"
If felt the claws on his back and a chill down his spine.
"Hello Year of the Cat, you look purrrfectly adorable tonight."
"Thanks, I thought about going with just the sash, but Mistress and Wytch
already have the whole whore look going on. I thought the ears looked cute though.
You feel like dancing?"
"Sure as long as you don't mind me draggin you down."
As the two new dancers entered the floor, they were mesmerized by the moves that
Gron was doing, they were ancient but cooool. Import-Export was busy tearing up the
floor herself but she kept having to count to herself so it looked a little bit off.
Baron was too stiff to even think about dancing, but he looked content to sit,
drink his ale and watch the girls.
All the Mercs were sitting together pointing and talking amongst each other.
None of them were paying any mind to anything that wasn't ale.
Rat in the Hat was looking to poke some fun at the Kids until Dexter told him
that they weren't allowed out after dark. He said something about them being afraid
af the dark or something.
In the kitchen you could hear Plongueur talking rather loudly begging Daddy to
please put his clothes back on. I don't think I'm hungry any more.
Just about everybody else was here having a great time, except for American
Muscle, they couldn't find a parking spot, got hot headed and big headed and stomped
off saying, "It's just a stupid party anyway."
The party lasted long into the next morning and the tales we could tell. But
what goes on in Hell, Stays in Hell....

---------------------5 Kill Contest Celebration---------------------
The city is enjoying the celebration honoring Slaughter Mouse 5's, 5 Kill
Contest tie breaker. There is all kinds of fine food from all over Alastari.
DeGotti spares no expense when he throws a party, especially for a contest he
promoted. He has also broken into his personal wine cellar and pulled out many
bottles of Bacchus's finest wine. There is also all kinds of entertainment from
belly dancers to jugglers to fireworks all in honor of this killer of killers,
Slaughter Mouse 5.
DeGotti steps up to the podium on the grand stage in the city's main square to
get everyones attention, "LADIES and GENTLEMEN, can I have your attention PLEASE! I
would like to take this time to thank all of you for coming out to make this
celebration a huge success. This trophy signifies a feat which to this date (turn
46) only 13 of the 80+ teams that have stepped out onto the sands here in Shadowspire
have accomplished! At this time I would like to call up SwineTiger and Slaughter
Mouse 5 for the trophy's unveiling and for him to announce the trophy's name."
SwineTiger and Slaughter Mouse 5 make their way up to the podium amongst
celebratory shouts, whistles and clapping. "Thank You! Thank You! First off let's
all thank DeGotti for sponsoring this contest and putting on this fine party! I am
just glad that Slaughter Mouse's record here hasn't been hurt by Rillion's
Bloodfueding attempts...or lack of them, it would seem! Hehe. I can only hope that
Den will follow Rillion's example! Hehe. Ok! Ok! Let's get on with the naming and
unveiling...I named this trophy after a manger that is known for his killing prowess
but has never had a team here in this city. Ladies and Gentlemen I give you...The
Mannequin Chalice!"
SwineTiger pulls the sheet that is covering the thirteen Mannequin Chalices as
fireworks go off all around the city! The golden statue stands 1.5 feet high with a
3 inch marble base and has exquisite detail that shows Slaughter Mouse 5 standing
with his Scimitar held over his head and in his free hand Miradraug's severed arm
while Miradaug's limp and bleeding body is under his foot.
"Oooohs and Ahhhs" come from the audience followed closely by loud applause!
DeGotti once again gets ready to speak. " I would like to call up a
representative of each of the thirteen stables that have hit the five kill mark in
the order that they reached this feat! Can I please have someone from WAR MACHINE,
RAGNAROCK'S WOLVES, AARP, BIG LAKE OUTCASTS, WARMASTERS, BATTLEGRUNTS, CLAN
LONGBEARD, LA PENTARCHIE, AMERICAN MUSCLE, RODENT CLAN, ALE HOUSE MERCS, CULT OF
BACCHUS and FUCHI OWNED come on up and collect your Mannequin Chalice! Congrats to
you all and please feel free to enjoy the rest of the nights festivities!"

The SYP has decided on a new formula and a format to report the news of
Shadowspire. A short informational note in each section to let you know where to
look for all the news that is important in the coming turns! This edition will be
short on actual news as we explain the new format. The SYP will also be conducting a
weekly lottery game (details below). The new format will begin next turn.
PREVIOUS TURN NEWS: In this section we will highlight the highs and lows from
the previous turn. This could include huge up challenges and down challenges; smack
talk; on-going feuds; and other items the SYP considers news-worthy.
WARRIOR OF THE CYCLE: The SYP will select a warrior from the masses to be its
Warrior of the Cycle. This will be a warrior that has done something extraordinary
the previous turn.
LOTTERY GAME" The Shadowspire lottery will be a game that is run each cycle.
To play, all you need to do is make a NL post addressed to SYP Lottery signed with
your team name (make sure it is your team name, not managerial name). The Lottery
will consist of 5 numbers between 1 and 99. The numbers will be generated by the
Teams On the Move standings, though the actual formula will not be revealed, it isn't
that difficult to figure out.
RECORDS: The SYP began as a historical reference for events in Shadowspire
tinged with lots of satire. We have not forgotten our roots and will present some
statistical information and arena records with each cycle's report. We will also
poke fun at various managers as the mood strikes us.
OBITUARIES: The obituary section will not report every death in Shadowspire,
but only those we deem significant. If you would like to write a personalized
obituary for a warrior that you have lost, feel free to submit it to the SYP.
SPY REPORT
It's me, The Unknown Spymaster, back to give you this week's Spy Report. Sit
back in your seats and we'll have more fun than a barrel of Zontanis. Say good-bye
to DARQUE AGES, as they are pushed from the coveted top team spot by the KELLUMBO'S
KIDS stable. Take a look at FURRY FURY's act, as they have a 4-1-0 week and gain 14
places in the team ranking. Rising in the ranks like a loaf of armored bread (okay,
I admit it's corny) is BIG LAKE OUTCASTS, who swept up 11 places in the ranks. What
goes up, must come down. Watch out SHADOWSPIRE! DARQUE AGES may fall on you as it
crushes past the teams below it to fall on the 19th spot. A seasoned team is steady
in the lists. But to HOUSE OF HEARTS, which fell to 22nd, it's what you soak in
before going to the Dark Arena. Suffering under a 1-4-0 record and dropping from
12th to 23rd place were the CHEFS BRIGADIER. Keep trying! It looks like the guys(?)
at AMERICAN MUSCLE had a good week as they went 4-1-0 to put them in 3rd place. I
guess steroids help! Hey everybody, watch out for THUNDERSAW, who flew up 29 points
in the rankings after mashing BEAR like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. Ya
know, some days it doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. MARTIN LUTHER was overcame
by '69 STINGRAY and drops 14 points. DEXTER got through to the Duelmaster this turn.
No doubt he was more than anxious to kick DAGRDRAUG's tail out of the throne! It's a
proud day for the OF WOLF AND MAN stable, as their warrior, DEXTER, ascended the
Duelmaster's throne. 4 out of 5 gladiators surveyed protect the body, so try and
avoid aiming at that location.
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the SHADOWSPIRE arena.
Here's a song for you: Who's afraid of the big, bad KELLUMBO'S KIDS? Big bad
KELLUMBO'S KIDS. Big bad KELLUMBO'S KIDS. SHADOWSPIRE's afraid of the big bad
KELLUMBO'S KIDS. Tra la la la la! And you guys like to boo me? Well, unsling your
rasberries, cause PENTAGONAL PINK beats feet every time KELLUMBO'S KIDS smiles at
them. Try farming, eh? And who is this WAR PIG you ask, with 7 points and a 2-1-0
record. Ooh, the tales I could tell! Challenging down 24 points was TYRA. Pretty
soon she'll be using two shields and selling 'T.P.: The only way to clean up' pins.
Definition of petty: TYRA slew XINU, a mismatch of 24 points. INDIA of KELLUMBO'S
KIDS had better have a good reason for challenging down 14 points in a challenge
which she won. I thought INDIA showed great skill and promise when she overcame
HORSE. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Death is kind of like a new puppy: he's always around wanting to play. (Ha
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?). GOHL HUM defied all odds and slew SHEWISH
GIANT in the Dark Arena. The only ones displeased were the buzzards, as SHEWISH
GIANT's meat is notoriously tough. Well, the arena is no place for slow learners
(and hopefully T.P.s) and TYRA demonstrated that very violently on XINU's body. This
round goes to BIG LAKE OUTCASTS, their 6-11-2 warrior, THUNDERSAW slew the 7-4-2
BEAR. Stay tuned next week to see what happens. And who needs the Dark Arena if
you've got TYRA around? This week she decorated hers armor with XINU. Who's next?
Remember: alliances are great, but try and take your ally in the arena with you and
see what happens.
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of

Hail Alastarians!
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Vanek, manager of the Warmasters in the No-
Tourney arena of Shadowspire. I come to you with a public service announcement.
Some of you may already be aware of Shadowspire and some of you may not realize what
exactly you're missing. This isn't your average arena. This is Shadowspire, a large
and very active arena where role-playing is encouraged; many managers are active both
the personal ads and the D2 forums online, and excitement reigns with many grudge
matches from turn to turn.
If you haven't checked arena 81 out, I urge you to do so. After returning to
the game almost 2 years ago, after a 15+ year hiatus, I was looking to try and
recapture the magic of the game I remembered from my youth. After finding my first
two arenas lacking, I almost quit the game again. That was until I found the newly
opening Shadowspire. It was here that I found the magic and excitement that I
remembered. I truly love this arena and am sure you will too if given a chance.
Rookie or experienced veteran, it matters not. Both have come together here to
successfully make an arena with plenty of competition to challenge the vets, yet with
the no tourney format, friendly enough for the novices to get their feet wet and
learn (or relearn) the game. When I say that even novices can find success here, I
speak from personal experience. I still consider myself a "newbie" to the game but
have found plenty of success with my first two Duelmaster titles and two ADM
graduates to date.
I encourage you all to check out the D2 forums at www.reality.com/duel2/ and
look over both the Shadowspire newsletter and DM-81 forum section at the bottom of
the page. The forum banter and personal ads help to clearly show that the "old
school" feel for the game is still alive and well here in Shadowspire.
Also, if you're a former Shadowspire manager who is currently away, I encourage
you to return and help continue to make this one of the most entertaining arenas in
the game today!
I hope to see many new faces in the near future and am excited to see the return
of some of the old faces whom have been away!

After 17 long years they are finally cutting the Cowboy loose. Red & stinging, my
hand is now sufficiently slapped. The state of Texas' boot print is stamped across
my ***... Uncle Damnit! I am only 34 (think about it...) so plenty of time to
reinvent myself...prospects are great. After wading through the culture shock I hope
to be amongst you soon, dishing out paper "w"itch slaps and taking my share of them

*TURF WAR VI RULES*
Starting Nov 2008 (10 turns)
Anyone may participate; known alliances, new alliances, or temporary alliances
created solely to compete in the Turf War! To participate, each alliance must:
1. Announce the alliance and the Captain of the alliance in the North Fork
(DM 47) newsletter.
2. Announcements made on the D2 Forums will not be accepted.
Captains are responsible for:
1. Verifying those who wish to participate under the banner of their
alliance;
2. Distribution of prizes should their alliance win the Turf War.
3. Submit one (1) RSI Roll-Up Certificate to participate
Participating managers who are not Captains must:
1. Submit one (1) RSI Roll-Up Certificate to participate
2. Announce their intent to compete with manager name, team name, and
alliance they will represent in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter.
Announcement made on the D2 Forums will not be accepted.
a. No scores will be tabulated until a Gift Certificate is received.
No EXCEPTIONS.
b. Before a manager can compete, he/she must declare themselves in
the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter as stated above AND be verified
by the alliance Captain they will represent.
c. Only one (1) team per player may compete. No multiple teams or
aliases will be allowed. Violations will result in immediate
disqualification from the Turf War (so be sure to take any
multiple teams OFF of Team Maintenance).
d. Scoring will NOT be retroactive for teams that do not properly
declare or fail to send a Gift Certificate by Turn 1. In other
words, if your Gift Certificate is not received until Turn 3 of
the Turf War, and you have fought on Turns 1 and 2, your scoring
will not begin until Turn 3. All conditions must be met before
scoring will begin--declaration, verification, and Gift
Certificate received.
e. No declarations or verifications will be accepted after Turn 5 of
the Turf War.
f. For purposes of scoring, the moderators will score the Turf War
and settle any and all disputes as they arise. Their decisions
will be final.
Scoring will be as follows for Fights:

Special Scoring Considerations for the Turf War are as follows:
Spy Report mention (team name only) +2
Style Master +2
Duelmaster +2
Champions:
1. A Champion may be declared, but one is not mandatory.
2. Only one Champion allowed per manager at any given time.
3. Champions that graduate or are killed by another warrior in the arena, but
not the Dark Arena, may be replaced.
4. Champions must be in the Adepts bracket or lower on the turn they are
declared, and may NOT have gone above Adepts level at any time; this
includes teams transferred into North Fork for the Turf War.
Bloodfeuds:
1. Bloodfeuds will score points on all four (4) turns.
2. There is no limit to which warrior may bloodfeud or how often.
Tournament Considerations:
1. Tournament participation is ALLOWED and encouraged.
2. Tournament Victors won during the course of the contest will gain a one
(1) time bonus of 25 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a
warrior(s) wins such status.
3. Tournament Champions won during the course of the contest will gain a one
(1) time bonus of 50 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a
warrior(s) win such status.
4. Points for TVs and TCs will be applied the Turn after RSI posts
tournament results in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter (i.e., if the
results post on North Fork turn 275, points will be credited on North
Fork turn 276 to the applicable teams).
Special Considerations:
1. Each alliance begins the Turf War with zero (0) points.
2. There will be NO alliance or team changes once the contest has begun. If
you begin the Turf War with Alliance A, you must end the Turf War with
Alliance A. If you begin the Turf War with Team A, you must end the Turf
War with Team A.
3. There will be a maximum of seven (7) teams allowed per alliance for the
Turf War.
4. The Dark Arena may be used on the first turn only, of every warrior,
without penalty.
Prizes:
The Turf War is a "winner take all" contest. All prizes and 100% of the Gift
Certificates will be awarded to the Captain of the winning alliance. It is the
responsibility of the Captain to distribute Gift Certificates. Moderators will
submit a list of each manager on the winning alliance to RSI at the completion of the
contest for the non-Certificate prizes.
The following prizes have been secured from RSI:
1. Renaming of the North Fork (DM 47) arena;
2. Renaming of Dark Arena Monsters (one for each manager in the winning
alliance);
3. Known Favorites for one warrior on each team of the winning alliance
(warrior must be ranked Initiate or above, must be alive, and must have
at least one arena fight to receive this award).
4. +1 Skill bonus potion for each manager on the winning alliance. Bonus
potion must be applied to a living warrior from (DM 47)
5. +1 Skill bonus potion (one) for each manager who fights in all 10 rounds
AND 45 fights of the Turf War. Bonus potion must be applied to a living
warrior from (DM 47)
These awards will be listed by the Moderator for claiming from RSI (Lee) within 4
turns of the end of TW VI.
Moderators:
The Moderators for this event will be Oz and Master Darque. They will arbitrate all
dealings during the course of the contest. Their decisions will be final. All
questions, comments, and scoring disputes may be directed to Land of Oz or Darque
Forces via diplo in DM 47. Managers with internet access may send a private message
to [The Consortium] or [Darque] on the Duel2 Forums. Lastly, you may also email
questions, comments, and scoring disputes to rebelnerfherder at yahoo dot com.
Please note there have been rule changes from the last Turf War. Please read them
carefully!
Contest will begin in November following the Fall Mail In Tournament.
