Notes from the arena champ.
Wow! All this work and effort to get up here on the the throne and they only let me
enjoy it for one turn before heading off to the Isle. Guess that beats the
alternative, taking a dirt nap with the other four originals from this team. Have to
thank Balliol for the opportunity and for accepting my challenge. It definitely
turned out the way that I hoped. Granted, I had somewhat of a style advantage, you
never know when a guy knows his faves and has that I'm immortal I don't give a crap
attitude.
As I already eluded to, I'm the only original Mongoloid left from the first turn of
this fine arena. Would like to have had a few of my boys along for the ride. Such
is life or death in the arena. I have to pay to homage to my namesake, the original
Djaimz, who obtained the throne many moons ago in grand ole Zukal but alas did not
survive long enough to receive Sheila's immortal blessing. I leave the team in
Djohey's fully capable hands although it doesn't look like he'll have many more turns
to groom one of the younger guys to lead the team.
Last thing on the list, the momento, actually momentos. First a fine sheet of
vellum. Next a quill with ink for all that have beef with the Iron Council to step
up and sign you names on the dotted lines. Finally a bottle of Crown Royal from
Otis' private stash (Although he doesn't know it just yet). A shot of this to calm
the quivering of your pasty little hands as you sign, we want to make sure its nice
and legible.

Good day, in SHADOWSPIRE a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets
poor. So bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. I want to know who's buying
the drinks for who tonight at The Warty Toad, seeing as KELLUMBO'S KIDS' 169-106-3
has earned them 4th place in the ranks. Now, what did these guys have for breakfast
this morning? WOODY'S WORKSHOP has turned a 3-2-0 into 6th place from 17th. Give me
the recipe! LA PENTARCHIE must be either in pain, or numb, having dropped from 13th
to 24th this turn, with a 1-4-0 acting as the weight. It doesn't rain, but it pours
for BATTLE GRUNTS this turn, a 0-5-0 causing a 16 flight drop in the team rankings.
Hand that team a dry towel. The FUCHI OWNED guild has had a 3-1-0 turn and deserves
to be watched in the future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. And
let's see, BRUTUS fought RAT-LOVING CAT and gained 30 points and contributed to
WARMASTERS' 3-2-0. ST JOHN KITTEN has lost to URRIM, falling 18 points, while
helping make LA PENTARCHIE a 1-4-0 turn. BLACK MARIA challenged for the
Duelmastership this turn, attempting to dethrone THE MONGOLOIDS II's warrior. And
not without some honor, BLACK MARIA now claims the title and throne of Duelmaster of
SHADOWSPIRE. Can someone confirm a rumor for me? I hear the top team makes their
losing fighters do dishes at The Warty Toad until they win. Maybe?
Oriental wise man once say, 'Hiding behind shields prevents proper sun tanning.'
Inscrutable, but true. KELLUMBO'S KIDS has cause to stand tall, as they were
SHADOWSPIRE's most avoided team. A smart manager knows this is a team to beat. And
guess who avoided KELLUMBO'S KIDS stable the most? Believe it or not, it was LA
PENTARCHIE. Anyone surprised? Well, sports fans, take notice that WILHELM from
WARMASTERS was SHADOWSPIRE's most challenged warrior this turn. GRATH from OF WOLF
AND MAN took a risk this turn by bravely challenging up 34 points in a challenge
against '69 STINGRAY. And whaddya know, GRATH beat '69 STINGRAY, and the fighters of
OF WOLF AND MAN were last seen lifting frothy pints of ale in honor of GRATH's 11
point gain. I don't know about you, but DESIREE challenging down 21 points to BIG
LAKE OUTCASTS' RYAK RAZORSAW, is not really worthy of KELLUMBO'S KIDS. We're not
surprised to hear that DESIREE bested RYAK RAZORSAW, but I bet it would be
interesting to hear why KELLUMBO'S KIDS made such a challenge. Well now, what do you
expect when someone like VILE RAT from GOONSWARM challenges down 22 points to fight
H.P. LOVECRAFT of LITERATE LOONS? It pains me to see warriors take advantage of the
system like this. VILE RAT subdued H.P. LOVECRAFT, as if it surprises anyone. In a
brave attempt, PINKY from ORCAE ITA challenged up 25 points to fight FALSE TEETH from
the AARP stable. PINKY perhaps got hers just desserts, seeing as she beat FALSE
TEETH and ended up with 84 recognition points.
The Dark Arena is for those who cannot win, not who cannot lose with grace.
Dignity in life or death is the warrior's creed. I guess it was coming sooner or
later, BATTLE GRUNTS has lost HORSE, and SHADOWSPIRE is bound to miss him. For a
little while, at least. The Warty Toad declares a free round for KANODRAUG and all
of THE DRAUGS, for having revenged ORCAE ITA's WIMPY for killing one of their
comrades. Kudos go out to BOWTIE BOB this turn, for revenging FUCHI OWNED's
bloodfeud against WOODY'S WORKSHOP's warrior SLEDGE. Well done. Congratulations go
out to KELLUMBO'S KIDS, with NIGHTBANE revenging a bloodfeud against ST. GEORGE of
DRAGONBANE GUILD. A brave warrior does not carry a red shield, he has nothing to
cover or hide when the fight is over. Consider well.
