*PREVIOUS TURN NEWS*
Well, the last time I wrote an SYP report, The Draugs were defending the Shadowspire
throne. As I put quill to scroll on this glorious turn, I noted The Draugs were
defending the Shadowspire throne. Last time, Dagrdraug lost the throne directly to
Dexter, a warrior and graduate from the Of Wolf and Man stable. This time we see
Slaughtermouse 5 working his way into the throne in a more indirect manner. In
other, smaller arenas this would not be newsworthy, but this is Shadowspire, where
the DM throne is still the most glorious achievement in the city. How SM5 reached
the throne is of little consequence, but what is important is that SM5 is now upon
the throne! A graduation invite awaited his ascension, so the reign will be short,
but that does not take away from the glory of the accomplishment. SM5 takes hold of
a record also by ascending to the throne. He is now the sole owner of DM with the
Most Kills. Congrats on all the achievements!!
The D2 site has been abuzz with bravado and chest thumping concerning the DM throne.
This turn will decide who is a champ and who is a chump. Wee Beastie appears to be
the prime candidate for a challenge from the throne, but only Swinetiger knows for
sure who will get the opportunity to face Slaughtermouse 5 on the sands.
*EDITOR S NOTES*
It is good to see all of the new faces in Shadowspire! A big welcome back to the
Consortium, whose presence was greatly missed on the arena sands. Am I to understand
it correctly that Kellumbo has promised not to down challenge for an entire year
because the Consortium has returned to Shadowspire? Wonders will never cease!
Welcome to the other teams as well that were absent when the SYP shut down due to
financial concerns on the part of the editor (people just don't read newspapers like
they did in the old days). If you are new to the arena and have not introduced
yourself, speak up! You will find this arena to be very friendly--well, for the most
part.
*Records and General Shadowspire Information*
I begin where I finished on T48 with a breakdown of each style's success or failure
in Shadowspire since the arena's opening. Total Parry still reigns supreme, but the
Lunger has overtaken Waste for the number 2 spot. Striker drops out of the Top 5 and
Plungers move in and also jump over the Aimers for the number 4 spot. Pikers are
still bottom feeding in the arena, but Rippers are attempting to make themselves look
respectable moving up a spot. The Bashers are sporting an impressive kill
percentage, yet they fill the 9 spot (which isn t good since there are only 10 styles
if anyone is keeping score).

DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
When Rat in the Hat was in this throne room, he offended the Furry Furies by putting
Krazed Koala's head in a display case. Since the Rodent Clan believes in hurting
bodies more than feelings, we have removed the grotesque object and will be replacing
it with whatever limb or organ I slice out of Wee Beastie first. And yes, I'm aware
that there are a lot of you rallying for the tongue. In any case, it's great to see
Managerr's black velvet painting hasn't been removed and is still following visitors
around with his creepy eyes that seem to say, "I know what style you are." In honor
of Le Pentarchie being the first team to 200 wins, we are hanging a portrait of Rat-
Loving Cat and have hired a chef to deliver fresh black plaguestries to the throne
room each morning. They're kind of like chocolate croissants, but with a touch of
pestilence that vermin like us are so fond of. Hopefully the next DM to warm the
seat up until Brick Mouse arrives doesn't dispense with this nice perk.

SPY REPORT
Hail SHADOWSPIRE! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for
your deeds. It seems the training can make the difference, as CAPITAL CARTEL is
pushed out of top team by DRAGONBANE GUILD, who came from 4th with a 3-2-0 this turn.
I understand that The Welcome Wench is buying the drinks for LA PENTARCHIE tonight,
to honor their rise to 5th after this turns 4-1-0. Hmmm. I want to know who's
buying the drinks for who tonight at The Welcome Wench, seeing as SOME KINDA HATE's
7-3-2 has earned them 7th place in the ranks. It doesn't rain, but it pours for
UNHOLY KNIGHTS this turn, a 1-4-0 causing a 11 flight drop in the team rankings.
Hand that team a dry towel. The NEVERQUEST guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and deserves
to be watched in the future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. And
let's see, GREGORR fought ETTIN and gained 23 points and contributed to WARMASTERS'
4-1-0. ETTIN has lost to GREGORR, falling 20 points, while helping make MONSTER
MANUAL a 3-2-1 turn. The attempts to dethrone the Duelmaster have failed, and
SLAUGHTER MOUSE 5 remains SHADOWSPIRE's top warrior for another turn. Can someone
confirm a rumor for me? I hear the top team makes their losing fighters do dishes at
The Welcome Wench until they win. Maybe?
I tell you, a green quarterstaff lasts longer than a seasoned sapling. A basher
friend of mine assures me this is true. I also notice that the THE MONGOLOIDS II
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on SHADOWSPIRE, what are you afraid
of? And guess who avoided THE MONGOLOIDS II stable the most? Believe it or not, it
was LA PENTARCHIE. Anyone surprised? Well, sports fans, take notice that BRAIN from
ORCAE ITA was SHADOWSPIRE's most challenged warrior this turn. SPIREWOLF from
DRAGONBANE GUILD took a risk this turn by bravely challenging up 38 points in a
challenge against WEE BEASTIE. But when the dust settled, SPIREWOLF had lost to WEE
BEASTIE, and DRAGONBANE GUILD left SPIREWOLF doing chores when they went to the
tavern. Better luck next time. In a fit of brilliance or of stupidity (hard to say
sometimes), TITUS challenged HR today, facing a 28 difference in recognition. And
crowds were on their feet when TITUS claimed a victory from HR, and now has 53 points
for his efforts.
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to
be true. The grave that KELLUMBO'S KIDS had dug for VOLBEAT may yet be filled with
the body of BANDIT PRINCE. Seldom are the likes of this to be seen. VOLBEAT lives
still! You gotta do what you gotta do. UNHOLY KNIGHTS has sent PINKY'S PIG BOY to
the Dark Arena. The deed is done. Lift the ale, and toast the memory. A farewell
moment, if you please, WYLD WYTCH of UNHOLY KNIGHTS has been sent to the Dark Arena,
and was carried out on hers shield. RODENT CLAN made what looks to be a tough
decision this turn, as they sent DUELMOUSTER, with a record of 7-9-0, to DUELMOUSTER
death. Farewell, its. You gotta do what you gotta do. KELLUMBO'S KIDS has sent
DEVON to the Dark Arena. The deed is done. Lift the ale, and toast the memory. I
guess it was coming sooner or later, WHO'S YOUR MAMA has lost VELICITY VON, and
SHADOWSPIRE is bound to miss her. For a little while, at least. Kudos go out to
DUNNIK this turn, for revenging CLAN LONGBEARD's bloodfeud against ORCAE ITA's
warrior BRAIN. Well done. Is it really true that SHADOWSPIRE has more dishwashers
per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
I like this place, SHADOWSPIRE, the taverns have old wine, and young serving
girls. Who could ask for more? Always good to rest in SHADOWSPIRE, but never good

Chimera -- It seems Novgorodny Vir the spy reporter considers a 5FE warrior
challenging a 8FE warrior a gross injustice. I however, do not. People look at down
challenges as something to frown upon. I however, do not. It is funny. Some of the
same people that frown upon down challenges will not frown upon say a 10FE warrior
upchallenging to a 4FE warrior. Such hypocrisy knows no bounds I guess. Good luck
to you, I rarely double down challenge so maybe we will see each other in the future.

a downchallenge, but a challenge of equal FE as you did. Regardless of it being down
or up. If I challenge your 1FE warrior with my 6FE warrior that is a different

It's always neat to see what warriors looked like, especially after they are gone. I
made the best push I could over the past few turns to hit 200 first, but my marginal
guys simply couldn't cut it. In case you wondered, here they are:

While he started off with decent stats, he simply didn't learn well enough, and heads
to the DA without an expert in any area after 20 fights. So sad. Really glad to see
