different managers have sent warriors to the Isle. The styles that have gone on to

sent a Piker off to immortality as of yet.
We are planning an SYP SPECIAL EDITION on Turn 100, and will be running other SYP
reports intermittently until then. With the help of SwineTiger, we are going to
attempt a super-retro edition that will only be available via the antiquated
Diplomatic Note!

DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings from the throne. Well, as this week's matches played out I was a bit
surprised. First off, 4th ranked Angel Heart decided to take another week off, one
less to worry about. Then 7th ranked Bili was challenged from below and lost to Iron
Smith. Thank you, Mr. Smith!
That left just my guild mates, Gerth and Dunnik, who are going up against my
main competition for the top spot and myself. Gracchus was matched up against Gerth
and Spirewolf went for the gold challenging Dunnik. That left me the odd man out
having to face a commission standby opponent. The bad thing about facing the
commission's fodder is that you don't know which one till the last moment and kinda
ruins any pre-fight planning you want to do.
Well, Gerth was up first and he took his sweet freaking time, but after four
bloody minutes of I can top that, he finally was able to take Gracchus down. I have
been trying to tell him that it is much easier to take your opponent out before they
hit you, but he just doesn't get it.
I give my guild mate a thumbs up as he passes me headed for the healers and I
head out into the arena as my name is announced. As I am taking a few practice
swings I see movement at the end of the tunnel and see what looks like a five foot
tall and five foot wide garbage can with arms and legs. Shaking my head to clear my
vision my opponent is announced as a Khalhums Dwarf.
Slowly he waddles into the arena, how the hell he didn't drop from exhaustion
before reaching the center I have no idea. Hell, it would have been easier to lay
him down on his side and someone roll him in. Finally reaching the center of the
arena, I look down at what appears to be an extra large ale keg encased in platemail
armor and somehow able to hold onto a morning star and a shield. I finally can't
contain myself anymore and burst out laughing.
The Arenamaster clearing his throat finally gets me to stop laughing and he
motions for the battle to begin. With a big grin on my face I let loose a series of
attacks and the damned trashcan man parries every single on and on the fifth attack
my weapon snaps of at the hilt. I curse several choice words under my breath and
toss the hilt onto the g round and pull out my backup dagger. The damn thing looks
so little in my hands I expect the thing to shatter with my next attack. Amazingly,
it doesn't break, but the dwarf continues his parrying demonstration. At the end of
the first minute I am gasping for breath and my leg and arms muscles begin to burn.
Then he has the nerve to start talking trash, calling me a worthless slug and with my
next attack I finally sneak one past his defenses.
In the second minute he continues talking smack, though it was hard to
understand what he was saying through his dumpster. Finally I started to figure out
his defense and got a devastating attack through to his left arm and I could see the
desperation in his eyes and asked if he wanted me to do it again. He managed to
parry the next attack, then calls me a worthless slug again. That was it! I thrust
my next attack malevolently at the same spot on his left arm and connect. The wound
begins to bleed profusely and he grudgingly accepts his loss and motions to the
Arenamster that he can't continue.
Nearly exhausted, I acknowledge the cheers of the crowd and head for the tunnel.
Dunnik is waiting for me and pats me on the back, "Don't worry, I won't be losing my
last fight here in Shadowspire."
I find a wooden crate near the tunnel entrance to sit to catch my breath and
watch my Longbeard brother's last duel in the arena. Within a minute he made good on
his word and the rest is history.

SPY REPORT
I was going on vacation, see? Surf, sun... But what do those bums say? "Hit
the road, Debby Tonte. SHADOWSPIRE needs a spyreport." Oh, well. Uncool, MONSTER
MANUAL. I mean 1-4-0 is bad. Will they will be allowed to fight? I say use 'em for
training practice! The guys at WHO'S YOUR MAMA like really pulled together to get a
2-1-0 this turn, moving up by 8. One team deserves special mention 'cause they moved
up 7 after going 4-1-0. Keep it up, KELLUMBO'S KIDS! MVP award for CTUCHIK? UNHOLY
KNIGHTS' proud of him after beating LILLEKATT and getting 20 points. Don't you think
the Duelmaster is being unfair? I think CORRIN should let GREGORR be Duelmaster for
a while, without fighting about it. I hear the top team insists all their warriors
get nine hours sleep. They want photogenic fighters for PR photos.
Look, you guys stick to fighting, all right? The warriors of THE MONGOLOIDS II
must be getting lonely. They were the most avoided team. Do you guys know something
that I don't? Is there some deep dark secret why LA PENTARCHIE's been avoiding THE
MONGOLOIDS II so much? Or is it just that they're too scared? Like, is VACA
popular, or what? He was challenged the most in all of SHADOWSPIRE! He's got a
3-1-0, is that good? For sure, I was holding my breath when I found out LORD EXETER
challenged GERTH. After all, haven't DRAGONBANE GUILD and CLAN LONGBEARD had a long
standing duel in SHADOWSPIRE? It wasn't a spectacular fight, or anything, but GERTH
wants me to write about it since he was beat by LORD EXETER. Satisfied? CHIMERA
must not be a good enough fighter to get in fair fights. He challenged BAHBI. 12 is
a big difference. (Well, that's what they tell me.) I thought CHIMERA showed great
skill and promise when he was defeated by BAHBI. All right, so I slept through it!
Big deal!
Man, all these warriors dying and killing each other! Don't you guys ever give
it a break? I hear MONSTER MANUAL sent EFREETI to the Dark Arena. What, is that
like not well-lit, or what? How cruel! OTTO'S DINER heartlessly sent his to
GUTBUSTER certain fate in the Dark Arena. Is a 4-8-0 bad or something? Hey you
guys, don't you think your families would like to hear from you? Write! (Or have
someone write for you.)
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I gotta leave. SHADOWSPIRE is like such a dump, and you guys
