ALE HOUSE MERCS
Josh was having a lovely afternoon, walking his little chihuahua Chance through
the park behind his home. The sun was shining, the trees and hills were green, and
the birds were chirping. Yep, just another beautiful day in San Luis Obispo.
Josh was reflecting on how peaceful and simple his life had become, when he
thought he noticed someone peeking at him from around a tree. When he got to the
tree, no one was there. He just shook his head, and continued on his walk.
Josh smiled, no doubt thinking about how in less than 3 months he would be
getting married to a wonderful woman, and settling down, probably starting a family
of his own. Because of his daydreaming, Josh didn't notice the legwarmer clad leg
stick out from a bush and he tripped over it. As he turned to rise, he looked up and
froze. Before him stood a man he had not seen in a long time. The legwarmers were
new, but the face remained the same, it was Hombre.
Words tumbled from Josh's mouth, "No, don't say it, I left that life behind me,
I'm not that guy anymore! I can't go back! My fiance already thinks I'm a nerd for
playing World of Warcraft, wha'ts she gonna say if I start playing du...duel... no I
won't say it!"
Hombre reached out a long bronzed arm and pointed a finger at Josh, "Say it, you
know you want to... Pauly." A huge grin spread across Hombre's face.
The look of defiance on Josh's face slowly melted into one of resignation and he
hung his head and spoke, barely more than a whisper, "Duelmasters."
The world spun, the sunny day turned cloudy and Josh was thrown to the ground.
"Damn you, Hombre!" he cried but Hombre was nowhere to be seen. He looked around,
the earth heaved below him. He saw his ever faithful companion Chance, writhing on
the ground in pain. As Josh crawled toward him, he stopped in shock. Suddenly,
Chance seemed to grow. His fur turned coarse and black, his eyes turned blood red,
and what appeared to be horns started growing from the sides of his skull. His
features suddenly became more rodent like and his tail elongated and appeared to have
barbs running up and down it. Josh cursed Hombre once more, for his sweet little dog
was a Chihuahua no more, but had become a Giant Demon Muskrat. Not just any Giant
Demon Muskrat, but the Giant Demon Muskrat. Laverne.
As the transformation completed, Laverne just stood patiently looking at Josh
despite the world seemingly falling apart around them. A gleam appeared in Josh's
eye and he smiled, "Alright girl, lets go, I'm ready."
Pauly leaped on Laverne's back and she took of like a dart. Suddenly, she
breathed a gout of fire from her demon mouth and a portal opened in front of them.
She leapt through and the portal instantly winked shut behind them, and the world
calmed and returned to normal as if nothing had ever happened.
But something had happened. Pauly had gone back to Alastari. And his fiance
was gonna be pissed.

An Afternoon in the Sun
It's been so hot lately I stopped coming to the arena to watch the
gladiators practice. Well, I stopped coming in the afternoon. The sun is
harshest in the afternoon. The canopied boxes in the 'better', higher areas of
the arena offer narrow pools of shadow, but much of the rest, the 'common'
areas, suffer in the sun. That's when spectators and fans, jostling in the
cheap seats, cook in their own oils. Sometimes the various odors can overwhelm
even the strongest constitution.
During the fights I know they'll string up some colorful netting and make
more shade for everyone, even those of us in the economy class. They have to
if they want anyone to watch the fun. Sometimes the more popular and well-to-
do teams will offer free iced tea or water to the audience just to keep us in
our seats until all their fighters, from high-ranked through novice, have had
their chance in the arena. But today isn't a fight day, so I came early and
intend to get out before every trace of shadow vanishes from the sand.
This afternoon was shaping up to be another scorcher. Most of the veteran
gladiators were finished practicing - those that use the common training areas,
anyway. Many more vets were loitering around; these guys cruise by the arena
while the rookies practice. There're always a lot of them around, stretching
and dancing and swinging their swords around. Or whatever.
Only by this time there isn't much dancing going on; the rookies have had
all the starch steamed out of their collars. Those still practicing on the
sand are making slow, deliberate movements. They're focusing on their form, and
that's always interesting to watch.
I chuckle when I see the vets gather at the water barrels, muttering and
making small gestures at each other. Happens most every week, of course, but
it's still humorous to me. What styles? What weapons? Strong? Fast?
Coordinated? It might save their life some day to know the answers. But then
again, it might not make any difference at all.
I guess I have a grim sense of humor.
I saw a brawny gal, short and built like an ale cask, with a thick wide
brow and an unruly patch of fiery hair that hinted at Shewish blood somewhere
in her family tree. She was one of the newbies; her jersey was bright pink and
it said 'GFE'. I'm not sure which team that is, but they seem to have a lot of
broads.
This one was slowly spinning a war flail in complicated arcs as she
deliberately planted her feet in the sand and pivoted this way and that. She
seemed to be very strong, with more than enough dexterity for the weapon.
Unfortunately, she lost her concentration when one of her teammates said
something to her. The gal almost hit herself in the head. Considering the
heft of the leather-wrapped lead pellets she had spinning around, it would have
left quite a bump on her noggin!
I scratched a quick note on my wax tablet, then closed it and moved down
the aisles for a better look at another rookie. I could figure out the odds on
the girl later.
I saw another guy, probably a striker or slasher, practicing his quick
draw. Over and over again -- unsheath and step forward, unsheath and step
forward. The poor schmuck didn't seem to understand that these two movements
have to flow together so that they become just one movement. The ideal is that
each motion adds to the force of the other so that the one, powerful blow is as
fast and decisive as possible. It's a combination of the draw, the step, the
twisting of the torso, the grip and the angle of the blow, and of course,
momentum... it's a lot to keep in mind and still pull off instantaneously. I
doubted that this chump would get it right by the next round of fights. He
wasn't pushing off of his back leg very well and his trunk was stiff and
isolated from his arm. Even if he hit his opponent first, it was going to be a
weak thump.
He wore padded leather armor in this heat, which meant he was either an
idiot or some sort of masochist. It looked like fairly new leather, though it
was stained by lots of hot training days. The name GREG was stenciled across
his left breast. I scratched a few more observations into my tablet and moved
on.
The Fuzzy Bunnies were engaged in their usual unique training regime:
digging holes and then filling them up again. Once I heard one of them claim
that it gave them strength and endurance. Sometimes they run around on the
sands dragging weighted sleds, like some of the brutes from Monster Manual. I
think if they practiced more with swords instead of shovels their record might
improve, but of course it's not my place to say. The Bunnies only come to the
arena for this type of training. I have it on good authority that they hire
private trainers and have a first class training yard in their compound, but I
haven't verified that yet. I sketched a quick list of things that caught my
eye.
The heat was pushing up from the benches now, so I knew it was almost time
to beat it and wait out the sun until tomorrow. My wax was getting pretty
soft; it needed to be put someplace safe and cool. I skipped a few thoughts,
closed my tablet, and hurried into the next section.
The guy was seated high up in one of the covered boxes. A ring of armed
men in ringmail provided a respectful distance between his area and everyone
else. He raised a slender hand and beckoned to me. I really didn't want to
stick around in this heat, but I figured it was going to cost me if I just
ignored him. I hate politics, but it seems to be the way of the world. I
climbed the stairs and surprised myself by getting a bit short of breath by the
time I reached him.
The point of a longsword in the notch of my collarbone might have been a
factor.
"It's all right. Let him by."
The guy with the blade gave a brief nod and then dropped back, taking the
painful tickle out of my throat at the same time. I felt a little wetness
there, and it wasn't just sweat. My underwear was a little damp too, and not
all of it was sweat either.
"You know, if you're not happy with my work there are other ways to tell
me." I was a little proud of myself for saying that without my voice cracking.
"Nonsense!" A wide gesture and all of a sudden I was gently ushered onto
a bench seat right below his. I didn't want to resist and risk somebody
getting a bit too eager to show off for the boss. Once I sat I noticed a small
tray on the bench next to me. A large pitcher, dripping with condensation, sat
next to a small bowl of fruit and an empty flagon. I slowly handed my tablet
up, then I turned my attention to the tray. I tried to be as cool and
nonchalant as possible. The sweaty condition of my shirt was just because of
the heat. Yeah.
I popped a few grapes in my mouth while I filled the flagon. It was some
kind of ale, I think, frothy and amber-colored with a mild bitter taste to
offset the sweetness of the fruit. It was very cold. And delicious.
"You've done a good job," nodded the Kid as he read my notes. "Havoc will
be pleased." He closed the tablet and handed it to some flunky hovering behind
him. The flunky placed a small but weighty sack in his hand, which the Kid
then tossed down into my palm. I hefted it and it clinked a little; it felt
and sounded right. I resisted the urge to open the bag and check inside. No
sense being rude.
"Always a pleasure to be of service," I said, tucking the sack inside my
belt. I made a mock toast and drained the flagon. This time I actually meant
it. Say what you want about Archaic Chaos; they pay on time. Other teams
aren't so considerate. Darque Ages, for instance, is always trying to chisel me
out of something for nothing; Agent seems to think he's got all my information
coming to him for free! And don't get me started on Tripwire... It's tough to
make a living when most of your clients are armed and dangerous and expecting
freebies. I guess it's something these older managers have come to expect,
since the weapon shops are always hounding the more successful teams for
endorsements. Though nobody's been bothering Vanek much lately, I noticed...
"Do you suppose you could deliver more specific information?" The Arcane
Kid's eyes glowed in that eerie way they do. I pretended to sort through the
fruit so I wouldn't have to look too long into his face.
"I can. It depends. What do you mean by 'specific'?"
"Ah, yes. Relevancy is everything." The Kid was still staring at me when
I looked up again. I almost choked on a bite of apple I was chewing through.
"I'm particularly interested in what you can tell me about the new teams
flocking into Shadowspire," said the Kid.
"EVERYONE wants to know about the new teams," I replied. I turned my back
on him and looked down into the arena. The sand was so bright I had to squint.
Most of the gladiators were either gone or clustered around the water barrels.
Only a handful continued to practice.
"Of course, I'll pay for any information you come across. Good
information, that is."
"Of course," I said. "Is there an other kind? But I don't want to be
boxed in at this point."
"Cold feet?" The Kid snickered. I swiveled on the bench and looked up
into his weirdly glowing eyes.
"Just being cautious. I have to live and work in this city, Kid. Teams
come and go, but I plan on sticking around."
He tilted his head in that speculative way he has. I felt another chill
pass down my spine. "Why should that be a problem?"
"For one thing, it seems that many of these 'new' teams are being brought
in by veteran managers."
"Aaahhhh." The Kid nodded and leaned back a little. He produced a small
fan from out of his floppy sleeve and began fanning himself rapidly.
"Yes," he said to himself. "That makes sense. And these veteran managers
- one assumes that they are jealously protective of their gladiators?"
"Very jealous," I agreed. I finished off the pitcher and smacked my lips.
I don't generally get these perks.
"So we're finished here?" I asked. The Kid made a small frown that seemed
comical, given his narrow face and his bright eyes. I almost laughed out loud
in spite of my apprehension. I felt the moisture grow in my pants and I hoped
it was just sweat.
"Yes, I suppose we are. I'd appreciate it if you would focus on the newer
teams. Not just the fighters, but also their managers. Will this be a
problem?"
"No, I don't think so. I will need a little extra time, though."
"Use the standard contacts. I'll be waiting."
I nodded and stood and walked down towards the nearest exit. None of his
guys stopped me; they ignored me, in fact. I felt a few eyes on me from the
dark shadows of some of the dugouts. I thought I caught a glimpse of the
manager from La Pentarchie, but I can't be sure of that. I caught a strong
whiff of something in the tunnel on the way out that made me think of Elephant,
or Furry Fury, or possibly the Bunnies. A musky animal smell, I'm sure. I
loosened the knife in my belt and just kept my hand on it -- for luck. I took
my time leaving the arena, sidling along a wall whenever I could.
It's not much of a way to make a living, I guess. But it pays well, and
I'm off by noon. Plus, I always get free tickets to all the fights, even the
night shows.
Yeah. It's a hard life.
THE ADM REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
The next ADM Regional Tournament will be held in the months of October/November 2011
and will be contested in the regular arenas during the late Summer months.
Q: What is the ADM Regional Tournament?
A: The ADM Regional Tournament is a competition where the best and brightest warriors
from the ADM regionals compete for bragging rights and to see which region is the
best!
Q: How does it work?
A: During the month of October, the warriors of each Regional Team will be
temporarily
moved to a special regional arena, where they will battle it out in a single
elimination tournament. The last warrior standing wins for his region. (Learns,
skills, and FE gained during the contest will not be permanent.)
Results will be posted online during the months of October/November.
Q: How are teams determined?
A: There are 10 warrior slots given out to each team. The 10 Stylemasters of each
regional arena during Saturday, October 15th will automatically qualify and be
selected.
To qualify for a Stylemaster position, you must have been active in the arena in 4
of the prior 6 turns including the last one (2 of the last 3 for Crysalis).
(Thus,
you'll want to activate your warriors before the week of July 23rd, to be safe.)
Should a team not be able to qualify all 10 warriors, they may select wildcard
entrants to fill those empty slots. However, they must have at least 7 different
styles represented AND no more than 2 of any style. Should they not be able to
meet this criteria, their team will be filled with NPCs.
Each manager may only play for 1 region and may qualify no more than 3 warriors on
a regional team. They may play a 3rd warrior only if everyone else who wants to
participate already has 2 and/or there is no other option. A manager may not have
more than 1 warrior of the same style on the regional team.
Q: What's a Regional Coordinator?
A: The Regional Coordinator is the unofficial "team captain": They are in charge of
putting together their team based on the rules, trying to make sure everyone is
included and that any disputes are handled. (For instance, if someone qualifies
more than 2 warriors, the regional coordinator will work with that manager and
determine which warriors will participate on the team, and then notify
replacements, etc.)
The Regional Coordinators are: Manager (Andorak), Buri(Darkholm), The Dark One
(Free Blades), Crip (Crysalis), Master Darque (Unnamed No Tourney Arena), One Arm
Bandit (Home Guard). If you need to contact them, you can write a personal ad in
the ADM arena, or send a diplo to them at:
Manager: Superior Forces in DM 105
The Dark One: Angels of Pain in DM 103
Buri: Tackle Box in DM 104
One Arm Bandit: Sea Dogs in DM 101
Crip: Royal Flush in DM 106
Master Darque: Darque Ages in DM 81
Q: What does happen if someone qualifies more than 2 warriors?
A: That manager will be able to decide which 2 to send (or, if there are no other
options, the manager may send 3--see above) and the next highest qualifying
warrior
will be able to take place of the warrior that doesn't get sent if it's an
automatic spot. It's definitely a good idea to communicate with your team
coordinator and fellow teammates. Remember, even though you are fighting for
qualification spots, you all still want to put together a competitive team! (All
of the captains treat this as an inclusive event so it's unlikely anyone will
completely get left out in the cold.)
Q: What if my warriors are not in ADM regional? Or, what if they are in the wrong
ADM regional?
A: If your warriors are in 100, or are in the wrong region, and they haven't fought
since the split, you can request to CSR to have them moved into the proper
regional arena.
Q: Is there a prize?
A: Bragging rights!
DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Well Shadowspire,
I made it back again as your Duelmaster. Here is something for you to think
about. I'm one of only five to graduate from Shadowspire on my 20th fight. Only one
other warrior has done this since turn 20 and that was Hummingbird. I've heard many
times how hard it is to graduate nowadays because of all the experience towards the
top of this arena. So if it's harder and I'm only one of two to do it, where do I
sit in Shadowspire history? I have to be in the conversation of greatest ever. Deal
with it, I'm that good. I leave here with a winning percentage of 75%. To quote
Charlie Sheen, "Winning, anyone?"
Let's get down to business. As my good friend Bowtie Bob did, I'm leaving the
arena for the dark forests in search of a troll or giant to slay. Let's hope
Greywand's magic isn't used. I won't be revealing my numbers because I may join the
non-tourney ADM arena if it ever opens.
Farewell, Shadowspire. It's been real and it's been fun. It's even been real
fun. It's time to go. No Tommy Bahama this fight. Those shirts go for over a 100
bones and blood stains don't come out. Let's hope the stains are from *It* and not
me. My entry into the codex is, "I'm tired of pretending like I'm not bitchin', a
total rock star from Mars." The memento I'm leaving behind is an American Muscle t-
shirt to remind others that follow of the dominance of my team in this arena.
Another history lesson, we've held the throne for more turns that any other team.
Who's next?
Lord Protector - '69 Fairlane Cobra
SPY REPORT
It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last
week's fights. Take a look at THE RED BLADES' act, as they have a 4-1-0 week and
gain 11 places in the team ranking. A seasoned team is steady in the lists. But to
CLAN LONGBEARD, which fell to 21st, it's what you soak in before going to the Dark
Arena. Suffering under a 2-3-0 record and dropping from 9th to 22nd place were the
FUZZY BUNNIES. Keep trying! WARMASTERS is no joke as it posted a 4-1-0 week
advancing from 18th place to 12th place. Hey everybody, watch out for PATROCLUS, who
flew up 24 points in the rankings after mashing PIZZARRHEA like a melon. Keep your
eye on this guy. And falling like a basher in the top ten was HOOK, who dropped 18
points after a disappointing (to say the least) bout with SUBPRIME RIB. Unlike most
arenas, '69 FAIRLANE COBRA managed to get his challenge off against the 0-0-0
SPYMASTER. Our battling duelmaster '69 FAIRLANE COBRA has managed to hold the title,
fending off SPYMASTER's none too subtle advances. Better luck next time, DARK ARENA.
Advice to bashers--never force anything, just get a bigger halberd!
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the SHADOWSPIRE arena. And
hey, kiddies, those of you who didn't avoid OF WOLF AND MAN, please raise you hand.
Wow. Does SHADOWSPIRE really have that many liars? For those of you who like math,
try this one: OF WOLF AND MAN + Weapons That go Boom = WARMASTERS + Avoid City. And
who is this PANDERA PAX you ask, with 64 points and a 10-10-0 record. Ooh, the tales
I could tell! In a mismatch, our friend MADDENED MEERKAT of FURRY FURY got heroic
notions and challenged DOPPLEGANGER. What did it get her? A 14-36-0 record, that's
what. This week MADDENED MEERKAT 14-36-0 fought DOPPLEGANGER 15-11-0 and in losing
gained 2 points. I know several gladiators who could go for a few fights like that.
In a touching display by a 'touched' warrior, GROANER went after VYGOTSKY, who was
higher by 25 points. Well, when the dust settled, GROANER was dispatched by
VYGOTSKY.
Death is kind of like a new puppy: he's always around wanting to play. (Ha
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?). '69 FAIRLANE COBRA defied all odds and slew
SPYMASTER in the Dark Arena. The only ones displeased were the buzzards, as
SPYMASTER's meat is notoriously tough. Carrion Bird Cinematic Humor: PIZZARRHEA II:
THE REMATCH. Proving again that SHADOWSPIRE is not rated G, CHARLES MARTEL of the
DARQUE AGES slew the warrior NO DICE SON in a rather bloody bout. Let's look for a
bloodfeud. Big man! VYGOTSKY kills GROANER. Who ya gonna fight next,
VYGOTSKY--Minnie Mouse? I hope BATTLE GRUNTS has a good enough fighter to beat the
snot out of VYGOTSKY. Carrion Bird Heaven: NO DICE SON was dispatched by CHARLES
MARTEL (The true definition of 'Street Pizza'). In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?'
category, JUNEBUG was mashed by CICERO, who let JUNEBUG know that killing members of
WARMASTERS is a no-no. Congrats to DAWN CERES for revenging the death of hers
teammate (but more importantly, feeding AWORT a bit of dirt). Remember: alliances
are great, but try and take your ally in the arena with you and see what happens.
Well, that wasn't too bad; Alarond told me that the people in SHADOWSPIRE have
no sense of humor. Or maybe that they were senseless. C'mon, Leadfoot, let's make
some tracks. Its been real, and its been fun, but it hasn't been real fun...-- The

Congrats, and get'em outta here! (wink) '69 FAIRLANE COBRA of AMERICAN MUSCLE,
MOOSE DROOL of ALE HOUSE MERCS. -- Agent, Capital Cartel
Turin -- Thanks for the challenge and getting into the gutter with me. I needed an
easy win. Hah! -- Gutter Ball, Capital Cartel
Charles Martel -- How very nice of you to come calling. I kicked your old English
butt back to the 5-yard line, didn't I? Maybe I will see you in a Bowl Game some
time soon? -- Punt, Capital Cartel
No Dice Son -- Does that mean you are a Hoover, or a Bissell, or maybe just an off-
brand sucker? I surely shut you off quickly. -- Hook, Capital Cartel
Gwennolay -- I had fun. I knew you didn't mean "no." I thought you were one fine
lay. -- Duece, Capital Cartel
Bennedict -- (As in Arnold) you scuzz! Your winning challenge ruined Agent of
perfect 5-0. You ought to be ashamed of yourself! See if we are ever nice to
Tripwire again! Humpf! -- Bank Shot, Capital Cartel
P.S. It's okay, Trip. I realize some managers have to downchallenge to get wins.
Maybe some day when you get better... (wink) -- Agent
Pauly -- How nice! The Crazy Creeps Publicist told me the other day that Nancy Drew
always had a crush on you. You know, not like the hots for you, or anything; just a
lovely, romantic crush. Yeah, I know. Some beautiful ladies seem to get a crush on
the ugliest fellows. (wink) -- Agent, Capital Cartel
Great Scott! Great Spot, KA! -- Agent and The Cartel
And a great, great SPOT, Cobra. Well done. -- Agent, Capital Cartel (Who lusts after
a 69 Cobra)
Well, Kid Arcane, I would say that, on this particular turn, Pandera has been a
little lucky, but Patroclus won easily... About beating my guys, you're absolutely
right, no one is unbeatable, and my youngsters climbed a little too quickly! See you
on the sand... -- LP
Personally? The two of you? Managers on the sands?
Patroclus -- I will try to calm down, and we will try again.
Snackpack -- That was a DC! Everyone is DCing nowadays? Where is Good old Kellumbo?
-- Fidget
'68 Road Runner -- What a propaganda machine you are! "Viciously subdued"? More
like I got tired of beating on that dented armor of yours! Be ready for more; I'll
bring something heavier next time. -- Patroclus
Madam Marie -- You can take a beating, I'll give you that. Your armor must look like
a misshapen colander now. -- Pandera Pax
Lanel -- That was a good start for you. Try to make it last. -- Riella
Gregory Palamas -- Two names? And stenciled on your armor? Did your mommy stencil
it on your underwear too? -- Boreas
Susan -- I love that perfume you wear. It goes well with the scent of your blood.
I'll just have to imagine your look of fear. -- Blind Tim
Jorja -- Thanks for your encouragement. I go through writing spurts. I'll try to
make this last through the summer. I like reading your blurbs. You should do all
your writing before 10:00 a.m.; I enjoy your details-- adds a lot of depth. -- Kid
Arcane
Pauly -- Is that like the parrot? Doesn't matter; welcome back! -- Arcane
Growler -- Are we going to do this for four whole turns? Really? -- Totoro
Gutterball -- Let's just say that wasn't the sort of fight I was expecting and leave
it at that. -- Velveteen
Gloom -- You had me sweating (blood) for a minute there. I'm certainly grateful that
you decided to slow down when you did. -- Velveteen
Malle Penellis -- That name sounds like something I contracted when I was a sailor
working out of Sunset. Hope we didn't mix any fluids in our tussle. :) -- Suicide
Seed
Gordio -- The way you move I think maybe there is supposed to be a T between your I
and O. -- Tu Du
Ausubel -- Hehe. That's what ya get. -- GM Corn
All -- Nice, 3-2 and a nice replacement for my DA offering. Hopefully I get another
nice replacement for my graduating slasher, that would be nice. Moose Drool:
12-4-11-17-17-12-11, hi-mod, hatchet, learned riposte. His record probably could
have been better, but before I retired there was multiple TPs around him that I was
unable to avoid and they wore him out. Literally. Anyways, he was a nice warrior. --
Pauly
P.S. Nice.
Tall Fall -- All right, that clinches it. I think I'm going to try a different
strategy, since I've run exactly the same for 12 fights and I'm 4-8. Plus, I hear
variety is the spice of life, or something like that. -- Beck
Alp Arslan -- You shouldn't have broken my scimitar, because once I removed the
dagger I keep in my boot from its sheath, it could not be returned until it had
tasted blood. Although, I guess I was trying to do the same thing with my scimitar.
-- Harp
Welcome back to the Ale House Mercs! -- Nomad and the Guild
My Top Rated -- Interesting name. Welcome to the arena! -- Nomad and the Guild
Congrats to all of the recent grads -- People are flying out of here! -- Nomad and
the Guild
And they're going to have somewhere new to go.
But listen, I really want to know, and it hasn't been clear in anything I've
heard so far: If a gladiator is entered into the No-Tourney ADM arena, does he
have to continue to refrain from tourney participation? -- Larkin
Not much to say to those we fought last turn besides... blech! Stinky 0-5! A couple
were experiments I wouldn't mind trying again, but overall, there just isn't much to
say about something like that! On to next turn! -- Nomad and the Guild
Vanek -- Thanks for the hospitality! It'll be a nice change of pace to manage a team
and not have to worry about setting them up for tournies! -- Destitute Noble, mgr My
Top Rated
Chop Doc -- When I saw I got credited for two head shots against you I almost
laughed. That was maybe your clavicle I hit... no higher... -- Buck Dich
Titan -- I do not want to be the one on the receiving end of your first attack. --
Big John
Larkin -- I don't know if going 3-2 qualifies as "hot" but we'll take it versus our
first turn where we were 1-4! -- The My Top Rated stable
This time of year, everyone is hot.
Hey Editor -- You did sound petty but that's okay. So did the plain text work this
go round? Sorry for any problems/headaches I caused. I've been know to do that from
time to time. -- Elephant.
I've caused a few headaches myself, but this is good. I appreciate you taking
the time to change your mode. -- the Editor
P.S. The really freakish thing last time was that even Find-and-Replace didn't
work on it.
Pauly -- Welcome back old friend. Don't worry, I'm already working on the Adventures
of Oestreich and Indimar. Best Friends 4 Life spotlight. -- Elephant
Vanek -- Thanks. Hard to top that turn. We'll be seeing you in the sands soon? --
American Muscle
Holy Shiitake -- Okay, not the best challenge, thought I even had ya for a minute.
Holy shiitake, you're good. -- Mach One
Patroclus -- With challenges like that, it's no wonder your team record is at that %.
Stay clear of me, it's the smart thing to do. -- Road Runner
Subprime Rib -- Sure, pick on the new guy. We've got your number, mister. --
Elephant
'69 Fairlane Cobra -- You made us proud. -- Elephant and American Muscle.
P.S. I told you not to drink wine before writing your DM's column.
Moose Drool -- Grats on your invite. Back one turn and gone already. -- American
Muscle
Swine tiger -- You still out there? -- Elephant
Big Bones Billie -- At least you're an excellent teacher. -- Victor
Ale House Mercs -- Welcome back! -- Vanek, Manager of Warmasters
Archaic Chaos -- Nice Article! -- Vanek
Nyderawyn -- Wow. Nice work with the mace. -- Shillelagh Tor
Ziggy -- Good fight. I was hoping for the nice trains from you. -- Lizzie Dusk
Tricky Little Devil -- You got the same strat from me you would have received on my
challenge. And Bill doesn't plan to send Shillelagh against you. -- Sisi
Rexce -- Thanks for the nice trains. -- Dawn
Visionist -- Thanks for giving me a shot at Awort. I hope Dawn can actually pull it
off! -- Bill the Bard
Welcome and Welcome Back! -- To the new and returning squads. -- Bill the Bard and
The Red Blades
Congrats to all the recent invitees -- And nice run through Shadowspire, Cobra. Few
roll through like that here. -- Bill the Bard
Sorry no personals today, really short on time. -- Jorja

Announcing!
The No-Tourney ADM arena will be opening for business on the
first of August of this year!
It will be ADM Arena #107, making use of that idle installation down at Lirin

entertained through the months of August and September.
