                              An Evening Conversation

In the northwestern region of Shadowspire, atop a wide knoll, a glittering
cylinder of stone and glass rises high into the starry night. The Acropolis offers a
cool, salt-tinged breeze, an extensive menu, and an excellent panorama of the
northern bay and surrounding area. The tables are scattered evenly across the tiled
rooftop. Everyone has a good view and a modicum of privacy, provided that one's
conversation is conducted at a muted volume. The glasses and silverware twinkle under
the moonlight. The heavily starched linen tablecloths barely flutter in the
occasional evening gust. A myriad of aromas eddy into the night air from the various
cooking carts, pirouetting in a mouthwatering gambol across the rooftop.
Chefs wearing loose-fitting satin pantaloons and ornately tooled leather vests
hover over small charcoal fires glaring from within their heavy barrel-shaped carts.
The sizzle of meat and the sharp clacking of a cleaver sound clearly through the
cacophony of whispered conversations.
Pony-tailed women in brief togas maneuver gracefully amongst the round tables.
They carry trays laden with bottles of curious shapes, with oddly designed glassware
to go with them. All manner of food and drink are available for the wide gamut of
eclectic clientele who favor the Acropolis.
A tall, stoop-shouldered man wearing the prerequisite pantaloons and vest
stepped out onto the roof. Unlike the other men, he also wore a wide crimson sash
and a large sallet made of silvery cloth set askew at a rakish angle. He gestured
behind him as he strode imperiously between the tables.
Two men followed, but stayed just out of arm's length from each other and their
guide. The first was a slender, bright-eyed youth wearing an exotic armor made up of
thousands of small squares of black, heavily lacquered leather. It was reminiscent
of the battle garb of the far East, but it appeared to be much more pliable and
durable. The flickering candles from the tables they passed glinted along its many
small edges. Conversations tended to lag as the youth glided by like a dark specter
of war.
Behind him an older burly man with short-cropped hair and a perpetual scowl kept
pace. This man wore a thick felt tunic of dark crimson that reached to his knees.
It was belted at his waist with a simple belt of braided leather. It sported a long
scabbard with a worn handle that glimmered at the man's right hip. For all his bulk,
his thick-soled sandals made no sound as he prowled past the tables. To the
discerning eye, his manner of moving marked him as something more than the
conventional affluent diner or prosperous merchant. This man moved with the
practiced grace and balance of an elite athlete, but his dark eyes glinted like angry
stars as they roved restlessly amongst the tables.
The stoop-shouldered waiter led the pair to a table near the fence at the
northeastern edge of the rooftop. The contrast of the dark forests to the east of
Shadowspire strongly illuminated the night sky. Once the pair was seated the waiter
gave them their menus with a slight flourish and a warm smile.
"Thank you Felix," grinned the Arcane Kid as he discretely handed a small, heavy
pouch to his waiter. "You always manage to find a table for us on the roof, no
matter how late the hour! You're a treasure!"
"Thank YOU, sir," bowed Felix. "The Acropolis is always glad to have you as our
guest. I'll send your usual server to you immediately." Felix turned and disappeared
in that practiced way of all veteran waiters -- a hurried, yet fluid movement. The
older man tilted his head and shot a narrow frown at his companion.
"How often do you come here, Kid?"
"Don't worry about it," sighed the Arcane Kid. He inhaled and exhaled deeply as
he looked up into the starry sky. "Every now and then one must indulge oneself."
"Uh huh. Seems to me we've had this conversation before. Don't ya think it's a
bit pricey?" Havoc scowled.
Arcane shrugged. "The Acropolis is one of my favorite restaurants," he murmured.
He settled back in his well-padded chair and flashed a mischievous smile across the
table. "It certainly beats Otto's Diner, don't you agree?"
"Depends on what yer lookin' for," muttered Havoc. "Otto's place is alright.
We meet a lot of our contacts there, don't we?"
     "Ssshhh. Here comes our waitress."
     "Hmph! Took 'em long enough!"
"Good evening, gentlemen," smiled a voluptuous older woman in the typical brief
toga of the Acropolis. Her brunette hair was piled high atop her head and held in
place with a glittering silver tiara.
"Runnin' a little late, eh, Melinda?" growled Havoc. The Kid fluttered his
hands in Havoc's direction.
"Never mind him." Arcane smiled broadly. "He's always a little grumpy when he's
hungry."
"Or when I'm dragged across the city on a pointless errand," muttered Havoc.
The Kid and the waitress chose to ignore him.
"I have your usual being brought up from the wine cellar," smiled Melinda. "I
held off on your appetizers, though."
"Good, good," nodded Arcane. "I'm in the mood for some of your grilled shrimp,
to start. The butter and garlic variety, if you please."
Melinda nodded. "The antipasto salad is very good, sir."
"Well, if you recommend it..." began Arcane.
"Let's just get us our drinks first!" growled Havoc. "We'll worry about the rest
of our dinner later!"
"Oh, yes sir!" Melinda nodded. She giggled briefly, then turned and vanished
into the quiet traffic of servers and busboys that moved in the shadows between the
candlelit tables.
     "Oh, you're a charmer, aren't you?"
"Kid, she knows she's gonna get a good tip, right?"
     "Your point?"
"Stop tryin' to entertain the women everywhere we go! They only smile at ya
'cause it's expected, right?"
"You're such a morbid fellow," Arcane sighed. The pair sat quietly and listened
to the many small conversations drifting between them.
Their waitress interrupted their unspoken contest. She carried a tray with a
bottle of wine and a slender, fluted wine glass. A tall glass mug, its walls thick
and heavy, was also on the tray. A leather strap dug into her ample bosom. After
setting out the wine, the glass, and the mug, Melinda shifted the strap off her body
and carefully set a modest five-liter cask onto the table. The cask had been tapped
with a gold spigot. With practiced deftness she set the cask into a collapsible
stand she produced from thin air. She filled Havoc's mug and set it before him.
"I'll bring your shrimp out next," Melinda smiled. "Did we decide about the
salad?"
"Never mind," said Arcane. "Just the usual steak with all the extras for this
one - " the Kid jabbed a thumb in Havoc's direction - "and I'll have a wide slice of
your delicious five-cheese quiche."
"Good choices!" chirped Melinda with a nod. "I'll be right back!"
Havoc guzzled from his mug and jabbed his middle finger in Arcane's general
direction as Melinda sped away. Then he set his empty mug down with a decisive
'THUMP' that seemed to startle a few fellow diners. He refilled his mug with a
snort.
"All right Kid, we're here." Havoc paused to take another long gulp. He
smacked his lips again and shook his head. "What's the big news? I hope ya didn't
drag me out here just to hear ya whine about the Gladiatorial Commission, and the
shortage of good recruits, and yadda yadda yadda."
"Yes yes, I know. Well, it DOES rather skirt that issue," the Kid smirked.
Havoc rolled his eyes at the stars. "I wanted to discuss Master Darque, of
Shadowspire's Darque Ages."
"What about him?" grumbled Havoc suspiciously. "Ain't he the one that gets his
boys from the local prisons?"
"Yes, that's correct," nodded Arcane. "From the prison of Chimlevtal, to be
precise."
Havoc leaned back with his mug in both hands and shot a narrow look over its
brim. "Ya told me all this before, right? It's called 'The Pit' by the locals."
Havoc clenched his wide jaw; the muscles along his neck flared briefly. "Okay Kid.
What's goin' on now?"
"Well, as I said before... my sources tell me that the Council of Chimlevtal
hasn't been entirely happy with their arrangement with Darque. They're seeking other
ways to - outsource - their clientele."
"Yeah? That's kinda strange, ain't it? I thought it was a 'win-win' situation.
Chimlevtal gets rid of their worst lot, and Darque gets some decent material for the
arena."
"Well..." Arcane swirled the wine in his glass. "Not everyone was winning in
that arrangement. Where are OUR decent replacements?"
Havoc allowed a brief smile to crawl across his broad face.
"Darque ain't gonna give up that sweet deal of his, Kid. And the Council of
Chimlevtal ain't gonna spit in their holy water, if ya know what I mean. Sure,
Darque's kinda spooky lookin' and all, but he provides a necessary service, don't he?
The Council ain't gonna - what'd ya call it? - 'outsource'? They ain't gonna do that
just so's you can bully up and take his place! Why should they?"
Arcane shrugged. "It's a chink in Darque's political armor, you see. The
Council appreciates his help with their more violent criminal element, yes, but they
are also somewhat discomforted by their reliance on a mysterious creature such as
Master Darque. Who knows what his true goals are, really? A being so eerie and
exotic and steeped in dark magic is hardly desirable as a business partner."
Havoc grunted into his mug as he drained it, then he wiped his mouth with his
arm and appraised his companion carefully.
"Lemme guess. You peddled this noise to the Council, right?"
The Arcane Kid smiled enigmatically. "Not really. It's more a matter of
disseminating rumor and speculation in the proper places, and having the right people
hear the right things. It all gets back to the Council eventually. That's what's
important."
Havoc ground out a dry chuckle and refilled his mug. "And how does this little
scheme benefit us?"
"Better recruits, of course!" Arcane blurted. A few heads turned slightly in
their direction. The Kid sighed. "You can't tell me you're happy with the stable we
have now, are you?"
Havoc dropped his eyes to the brilliant white tablecloth and grunted. Arcane
nodded knowingly.
"Of course, Master Darque might be a bit - peevish - about this development. So
I recommend that you take a few basic precautions whenever you are out and about."
"Whatta ya mean?" growled Havoc. "Not this too! I got way too much on my plate
as it is!"
The Arcane Kid shrugged again as Melinda led a small troupe of waiters to their
table. A variety of dishes were quietly and efficiently laid out before them. The
servers disappeared again. Havoc grabbed a knife and fork. He looked up at the Kid,
who was eyeing his quiche with a frown, before he attacked his steak.
"Kid, if this don't work out, I gotta tell ya I'm seriously thinkin' of quittin'
this business." Arcane looked up suspiciously.
     "Really?"
"Oh yeah," nodded Havoc as he began cutting up his steak. "By the way, ain't
there some sort of a reference ya can give me in writin'?"
The Kid studied Havoc for a few moments as the other chewed and swallowed.
"What for?" he asked at last.
"I hear Darque may be hirin' soon," Havoc chuckled mirthlessly. "He's got an
eye for talent, that one."

                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Greetings, Shadowspire! 'Tis I, your new Duelmaster, Gremlin Stew. I am the
fifth duelmaster to hail from Otto's Diner. I'm sure many of you know me already,
having met me on the sands. Those of you still awake afterwards know what a gracious
gladiator I am. I'm always courteous and hardly ever hit anyone. If I do, I always
say I'm sorry afterwards. I find that makes for fewer hurt feelings and a more
collegial atmosphere, don't you?
Some people have asked me what goes into a Gremlin Stew. Well, it's a secret
recipe, but generally it's aged bits of basher with some mixed vegetables and a
secret spice blend, served in an AMC hubcap. It's not the most popular dish, but
Otto insists we keep it on the menu. That boy holds grudges, let me tell you.
     Until next week...

                                         Gremlin Stew

                                      SPY REPORT

This wouldn't be a usual day for me to do a spy report here, but I saw a chance
to grab the Hands--they had to forgo spy reports for Andorak and Crysalis, so they
weren't BUSY--and here I am.
It's a good day here. Well, cold, of course, but that's because it's the edge
of winter. Forty-two fights, two Dark Arena matches, twenty-one regular challenges,
and one standby. This is EXCELLENT.
A few notes from Novgorodny Vir, rather disjointed, but what the heck: Search
the Sky did poorly, going 2-3-0. Well, it happens. Food did well. How well, I
don't know, but I always liked food myself. La Pentarchie apparently did well, also,
although Vir wasn't specific. The new team On the Shoulders Of had a good first turn
and are ranked nineteenth. Al Zheimer had the biggest point gain at 27.
Skullcleaver had the biggest drop at 19 points. Gremlin Stew got the most
challenges, eight of 'em. Furry Fury was most avoided, with Warmasters avoiding them
the most.

The Dark Arena:
TRANIN (81-1080) (0-2-0,2) of VINCERE AUT MORI III DA challenged WURM KIN (81-
27) (0-0-0,50) of DARK ARENA. TRANIN was butchered by WURM KIN in a crowd pleasing 1
minute Dark Arena fight.
JOKEY SERF (81-1950) (0-0-0,0) of DARQUE AGES DA challenged ARENAMASTER (81-23)
(0-0-0,100) of DARK ARENA. JOKEY SERF was murdered by ARENAMASTER in a 1 minute Dark
Arena melee. Arenamaster Jaime Rinvar wants to make it clear that this was NOT a
case of murder. He says he was just doing his job.

The regular fights:
DESTROYER OF WORLDS (81-1940) (0-0-0,0) of ON THE SHOULDERS OF fought PERSISTANT
BEGGAR (81-4) (0-0-0,10) of Weary Foreign Standbys. DESTROYER OF WORLDS overcame
PERSISTANT BEGGAR in a tiresome 3 minute amateur's melee. This so impressed the
crowd today that Destroyer was voted Least Popular Fighter.
PRIMUS STAR (81-1945) (0-1-0,1) of SEARCH THE SKY fought WHITE PROPHET (81-1946)
(1-0-0,8) of FARSEERS. PRIMUS STAR was defeated by WHITE PROPHET in a 2 minute
novice's brawl. Sounds like a religion in the making to me.
CELESTIAL STEEL (81-1931) (2-1-0,7) of SEARCH THE SKY fought INSCRUTABLE&MAGICAL
(81-1939) (0-0-0,0) of ON THE SHOULDERS OF. CELESTIAL STEEL was outwaited by
INSCRUTABLE&MAGICAL in a 7 minute amateur's match. Somehow... this wasn't the fight
I wanted to see. But it was the fight we had, and it's the second win for On The
Shoulders Of.
TOBIAS (81-1927) (1-3-0,6) of CLAN LONGBEARD fought TARR (81-1938) (0-2-0,2) of
BRIDGE BURNERS. TOBIAS was defeated by TARR in an action packed 4 minute beginner's
battle. A little embarrassing, perhaps?

WARG RIDER (81-1926) (2-2-0,11) of SAVAGE HORDE fought STUMBLE OVER TRUTH (81-
1942) (0-0-0,0) of ON THE SHOULDERS OF. WARG RIDER overcame STUMBLE OVER TRUTH in a
5 minute novice's duel. Does it count of the ridden warg bites?
SUMMER BAY SHOT (81-1884) (2-6-1,14) of SUMMERBORN fought MOONSTRUCK (81-1929)
(2-2-0,8) of SEARCH THE SKY. SUMMER BAY SHOT was beaten by MOONSTRUCK in a 2 minute
brutal competition. And what could be more appropriate on the night of the full
moon? Actually that was last night, or very early this morning, but if you aren't an
astronomer, so what, eh?
CAEDMON (81-1873) (7-5-0,32) of DARQUE AGES fought KENAI (81-1901) (6-1-0,20) of
DRAGONBANE GUILD. CAEDMON overpowered KENAI in a 2 minute uneven bout. A fairly
good piece of work for Caedmon, the top-ranked parry-riposte.
KALAM (81-1888) (7-6-1,28) of BRIDGE BURNERS fought GRAVITY VORTEX (81-1895) (1-
7-0,10) of SEARCH THE SKY. KALAM viciously subdued GRAVITY VORTEX in a 1 minute
gruesome match. And here I thought anti-gravity was a myth!
SKULLCLEAVER (81-1877) (6-5-0,55) of SAVAGE HORDE fought THE CRISCO KID (81-
1912) (4-2-0,35) of OTTO'S DINER. SKULLCLEAVER was overpowered by THE CRISCO KID in
a 1 minute one-sided match. You can see why Skullcleaver dropped so abruptly. The
stairs were greased under his feet.

JULIAN OF NORWICH (81-1783) (12-15-1,55) of DARQUE AGES fought AL ZHEIMER (81-
1886) (6-3-0,24) of LA PENTARCHIE. JULIAN OF NORWICH was devastated by AL ZHEIMER in
a 1 minute uneven bout. And thus Al's strong rise in the ranks.
TOSSED SALAD (81-1686) (8-26-0,55) of FOOD fought HENRY MILLER (81-1846) (4-13-
0,29) of LITERATE LOONS. TOSSED SALAD devastated HENRY MILLER in a 1 minute one-
sided battle. I've never been a fan of tossed salads, myself, but it is a win for
Food, and probably the first of several.
ONION RINGS (81-1684) (15-19-0,64) of FOOD fought THE DRONE (81-1862) (8-6-1,37)
of LA PENTARCHIE. ONION RINGS was devastated by THE DRONE in a 1 minute one-sided
duel. Okay, Food isn't winning EVERY fight, but hey, those onion rings were greasy.
REDDIG (81-1838) (15-4-0,84) of CLAN LONGBEARD fought EDNA MILLAY (81-1834) (10-
10-0,64) of LITERATE LOONS. REDDIG overpowered EDNA MILLAY in a 1 minute one-sided
fray. It was his rhythm.
SUMNER (81-1624) (16-12-0,90) of THE WILLBURYS II fought KRONSTEEN (81-1748)
(17-12-0,89) of BOND-AGE. SUMNER overpowered KRONSTEEN in an exciting 1 minute one-
sided fight. That one shouldn't have been "one-sided." Must have been a style
advantage or something.

BRUSSEL SPROUTS (81-1688) (17-17-2,100) of FOOD fought FEOHR (81-1737) (15-17-
1,73) of CLAN LONGBEARD. BRUSSEL SPROUTS was overcome by FEOHR in a 2 minute brutal
veteran's fight. Few things can tame Sprouts, but Feohr must have found them all.
Butter, cheese, sour cream....
MARTILN (81-1742) (19-11-0,102) of CLAN LONGBEARD fought LADY GODIVA (81-1782)
(17-10-0,69) of DARQUE AGES. MARTILN was savagely defeated by LADY GODIVA in a 6
minute gruesome veteran's fight. He made an unacceptable comment. Gotta watch that,
when the commentee has a sword in hand.
CAZADOR (81-1578) (23-20-0,93) of DRAGONBANE GUILD fought RENTON (81-1623) (12-
16-1,86) of THE WILLBURYS II. CAZADOR was savagely defeated by RENTON in a crowd
pleasing 4 minute veteran's fray. Despite this loss, Cazador is the top-ranked
parry-striker. Renton is both the overall popularity leader and the turn's most
popular warrior. Really put on a good show.
DROW (81-1774) (17-12-0,91) of MONSTER MANUAL fought JOSEPH MITCHELL (81-1746)
(13-18-1,91) of LITERATE LOONS. DROW overpowered JOSEPH MITCHELL in a 1 minute
uneven duel. Drow is the leading aimed blow in Shadowspire.
HOMONCULOUS (81-1851) (10-5-0,91) of MONSTER MANUAL fought LITTLE DARLING (81-
1700) (20-15-0,124) of SUMMERBORN. HOMONCULOUS was vanquished by LITTLE DARLING in
an exciting 1 minute one-sided fight. Critics will resist making comments about
Little Darling, please! This master (or mistress) of slice and dice, this steeliest
wall, doesn't put UP with stuff like that.

The challenges:
PISTORIUS (81-1916) (2-2-0,20) of WARMASTERS challenged SHADOW WOLF (81-1932)
(1-1-0,17) of FARSEERS. Down 3. PISTORIUS vanquished SHADOW WOLF in a 1 minute one-
sided Challenge match. A question arises: Can the Farseers tell in advance whether
they'll win or lose?
RAMIRUS (81-1935) (2-0-0,21) of WARMASTERS challenged ROADKILL SURPRISE (81-
1920) (3-1-0,12) of FURRY FURY. Down 9. RAMIRUS unbelievably bested ROADKILL
SURPRISE in a 8 minute novice's Challenge bout. The surprise to ME is that it took
Ramirus that long.
GRIMSTONES (81-1937) (1-0-0,13) of CULT OF BACCHUS challenged HUGO DRAX (81-
1948) (1-0-0,13) of BOND-AGE. Straight across. GRIMSTONES handily defeated HUGO
DRAX in a 1 minute uneven Challenge duel. Looked even enough where I was sitting.
     MAY DAY (81-1947) (1-0-0,11) of BOND-AGE challenged SYFTAR TRAFF (81-1876) (4-7-
0,19) of DRAGONBANE GUILD. Up 8. MAY DAY vanquished SYFTAR TRAFF in a 1 minute one-
sided Challenge match. Impressive.
CABICHON (81-1914) (3-3-0,23) of LA PENTARCHIE challenged CAT N TONIC (81-1870)
(3-6-0,23) of FURRY FURY. Straight across. CABICHON devastated CAT N TONIC in a 1
minute one-sided Challenge bout. Could this be because Cabichon had a dog in his
pocket?

EYE OF THE DEEP (81-1923) (4-1-0,24) of MONSTER MANUAL challenged BLUE NOVA (81-
1898) (5-3-0,32) of SEARCH THE SKY. Up 8. EYE OF THE DEEP was overpowered by BLUE
NOVA in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge fight. Looks like a classic, the Deep
against the Sky.
REAVER (81-1879) (5-6-0,33) of SAVAGE HORDE challenged PICKER (81-1890) (6-10-
1,29) of BRIDGE BURNERS. Down 4. REAVER savagely defeated PICKER in an exciting 1
minute brutal Challenge match. They talk about "exciting" one-minute fights, and I
know that the minute seems long when you're fighting, but when you're just watching--
when *I* am just watching, it's like: don't blink or you'll miss it.
     KAMAL KHAN (81-1883) (7-3-0,56) of BOND-AGE challenged SCIPIO (81-1900) (6-2-
1,36) of WARMASTERS. Down 20. KAMAL KHAN butchered SCIPIO in a 1 minute one-sided
Challenge brawl. Oops!
BAD BORSCHT (81-1894) (4-5-2,39) of OTTO'S DINER challenged INGRAT (81-1805)
(10-13-0,46) of LA PENTARCHIE. Up 7. BAD BORSCHT was handily defeated by INGRAT in
a 2 minute mismatched Challenge bout. Nothing like adding a bit of better sour cream
to the pot.
LONGFANGS (81-1881) (5-5-1,37) of SAVAGE HORDE challenged REGAL (81-1904) (5-2-
0,37) of FARSEERS. Straight across. LONGFANGS vanquished REGAL in an action packed
1 minute mismatched Challenge bout. No biting, Longfangs!

AGORIX (81-1842) (11-7-2,43) of WARMASTERS challenged FAILED DOG TRICK (81-1798)
(9-12-0,57) of FURRY FURY. Up 14. AGORIX was savagely defeated by FAILED DOG TRICK
in a 4 minute Challenge conflict. Today, the trick did not fail.
     GLABRIO (81-1800) (9-14-2,43) of WARMASTERS challenged ORTING (81-1815) (9-10-
0,43) of THE WILLBURYS II. Straight across. GLABRIO devastated ORTING in a 2 minute
bloody one-sided Challenge battle. TWO minutes, I could see. There was a zing! And
a sort of a jump. And presto!
HARE BINGER (81-1790) (13-11-1,66) of FURRY FURY challenged ZADIE SMITH (81-
1701) (17-18-0,69) of LITERATE LOONS. Up 3. HARE BINGER savagely defeated ZADIE
SMITH in a 2 minute veteran's Challenge match. Was it a March Hare?
WORD THIEF (81-1849) (8-6-0,59) of CULT OF BACCHUS challenged THE BLACK PRINCE
(81-1841) (11-7-0,59) of DARQUE AGES. Straight across. WORD THIEF overcame THE
BLACK PRINCE in a 1 minute Challenge bout. The Prince is now wordless. No surprise.
So many gladiators are.
STORM GIANT (81-1819) (11-10-0,62) of MONSTER MANUAL challenged IRWEHN (81-1785)
(14-13-0,67) of CLAN LONGBEARD. Up 5. STORM GIANT was vanquished by IRWEHN in a 2
minute brutal one-sided Challenge fight. If this Irwehn can reliaibly subdue storms,
he could get a very good day job.

TROLL HAND (81-1825) (10-9-1,65) of SAVAGE HORDE challenged SORRY (81-1891) (9-
8-0,76) of BRIDGE BURNERS. Up 11. TROLL HAND was vanquished by SORRY in a 1 minute
uneven Challenge fight. Somebody was sorry after that fight, but I think it was the
Troll.
IRONHEAD (81-1722) (20-13-0,74) of DRAGONBANE GUILD challenged TURDUCKEN (81-
1784) (13-14-1,91) of OTTO'S DINER. Up 17. IRONHEAD was handily defeated by
TURDUCKEN in a 2 minute uneven Challenge melee. Rumor has it that Ironhead is to be
renamed Bonehead.
TRUTTS (81-1889) (9-8-0,73) of BRIDGE BURNERS challenged PASTA ALL DENTY (81-
1837) (8-11-0,75) of OTTO'S DINER. Up 2. TRUTTS executed PASTA ALL DENTY in a 2
minute gory mismatched Challenge brawl. Another death! And this one brought about
by the arena's leading basher.
NICK NACK (81-1750) (15-14-2,101) of BOND-AGE challenged PURPLE WORM (81-1775)
(14-15-1,94) of MONSTER MANUAL. Down 7. NICK NACK viciously subdued PURPLE WORM in
a 3 minute expert's Challenge brawl. I should hope so.
BALTAIRE (81-833) (18-16-0,114) of CULT OF BACCHUS challenged CLERLEON (81-1796)
(16-9-1,103) of LA PENTARCHIE. Down 11. BALTAIRE overpowered CLERLEON in a 1 minute
one-sided Challenge fight. A battle of style-masters. Baltaire is the top striker
and Clerleon the leading slasher.

For the title:
Though most challenged, GREMLIN STEW (81-1710) (26-8-0,110) of OTTO'S DINER
challenged KNUT SUNDERHELM (81-1569) (20-24-3,107) of DRAGONBANE GUILD. Down 3.
GREMLIN STEW luckily beat KNUT SUNDERHELM in a 4 minute Challenge Title fight. Was
it luck, or skill? Gremlin Stew is the high-ranked total parry in Shadowspire, and
we salute him.

Turducken -- If I tried using that weapon it would break in 10 seconds. Well fought.
-- Martiln

Ingrat -- Unlucky for you that you caught me on a good day. -- Irwehn

Clerleon -- I will avoid you in the future, sir. -- Reddig

Celectial Steel -- So close, yet so far. -- Tobias

Two more logs outta the way... Congrats to Tamerlane and Meda on their invites. --
Visionist

Ramirus -- You made me look really bad, Mr.2-0. My manager said one more
performance like that and it's the Dark Arena for me. -- He who sleeps with Wargs

Picker -- Thanks for the challenge. Nice learning experience for me. -- Longfangs

Skullcleaver -- I think my avoid button is broken. That or Hawk's bribe money is not
getting to the right official in the gladiator commision. -- Skullcleaver

Syftar Traff -- Clearly I am not the best random matchup for you. Thanks for helping
me get the expert! -- Reaver

Orting -- We have fought many times but now it seems the shoe is on the other foot.
Sure feels better on my end <cut off by hal>

The Catalyst -- Congrats on the bloodfued! Hittius is night fighting this turn as he
has worn out his welcome. -- DeGotti

Kid Arcane -- Hittius may hit like a tank, but he learned like one too! His only
skills came from stat trains! -- DeGotti

LP -- Gigi blowup dolls? I'm pretty sure she knows nothing about those. Looks like
our lawyers will be busy in the upcoming weeks! -- DeGotti

Glabrio -- I didn't know you wanted to dance! Glad I could show you the correct
moves! Thanks for the skill and the rating! -- Word Thief

All -- I am thinking Furry Fury has out lived their life expectancy. It may be time
for a new team as the dark arena is useless. -- Grimm

Scipio -- Good challenge. Now to add some gin to me guts. -- Cat N Tonic

All -- Scum after scum sitting on the throne. How hard it is to watch such misery.
-- Hare Binger

Ingrat -- You mean, "Ingrate!" I struck you first and gave you an opportunity to
just bow out. But no, you had to get all 'desperate' and such... Anyway, I did
appreciate the skills! -- Blue Nova

Cabichon -- What is it with you La Pentarche guys? Are you stalking us? -- Gravity
Vortex

Grimstones -- Don't get too high on yourself just yet, Rookie. My defense sucks. --
Celestial Steel

White Prophet -- That was a good matchup. Next time I'll raise my OE and AL and
we'll see what happens. Hope you're around at the end! -- Primus Star

Kenai -- My stable has seen a lot of you. We're going to have to do something about
that soon, aren't we? -- Kid Arcane

All -- Wow, what a drop! From first place down to 12th!! And there are so many
teams who have won 2/3 of their fights--this really must be the toughest arena in
Alistari!! -- Kid Arcane

     Yes.
