DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Wow, what a crazy turn of events! To say that I am thrilled with last turn's
outcome would be an understatement. And Vanek was so ecstatic that he doubled the
rations for all of the gladiators in the stable and allowed us to drink our fill of
Shadowspire's finest wines (thanks go out to Otto's Diner for supplying all the food
and drink)!
After mourning the loss of Sejanus to multiple down challenges from Diabolos
that ended up resulting in his death, I was tasked with avenging him. Although I
was able to handily defeat Diabolos on two occasions, Vanek insisted that true
vengeance could only be had by slaying him. As I set about preparing for round 3
with Diabolos, I knew nothing short of removing his head from his shoulders would
suffice. The Gods truly smiled upon me as my Battle Axe did just that! In the heat
of the moment I was happy to just have dispatched my foe, but then to soon learn that
the victory had catapulted me to the throne was simply amazing. Vanek himself would
have been hard pressed to write a better script than that!
The last two weeks have been a whirlwind and it has been a great honor to
forever be immortalized as one of Shadowspire's Duelmasters. Life doesn't get much
better than this. As I began to look forward to defending the throne, I realized
just how talented the 7 Challenger Champions within range to challenge me were.
Brain Eater seems to be in a good position to not only avenge the bloodfeud, but also
steal my throne. I am hopeful that I can prevent that from happening, but the Gods
can be fickle and you never know whom they will favor from week to week. With any
luck, I'll be writing another column next week.

SPY REPORT
You elder fighters surely remember me. The younger ones may call me Olaf
Modeen. I return to SHADOWSPIRE once again! Biff! Pow! SHADOWSPIRE watched with
glee as DRAGONBANE GUILD got knocked off top spot by SOME KINDA HATE! Hmmmph! I
always thought WICKED MARTYRS was an over-rated team and they proved it with a 1-4-0!
Up 'n down. Up 'n down. Rankings always change. Up 'n down. I think I'm gonna
be... Well, SOME KINDA HATE's 1st moved them up to 4-1-0 place. It seems so
recently people were saying OTTO'S DINER was washed up, finished. But 4-1-0 moved
them up 3. I guess they're washed no more... What's with HOMINID? He actually beat
ROGUES DEN's RASK, and walked away with 21 more points from the fight. Laughs were
big at DARQUE AGES while they watched MAIMONIDES clobber MYNOCK MAELSTROM. He lost
18 points and got bruised from objects thrown from the stands. SOME KINDA HATE's
hatred of WARMASTERS surfaced again as BRAIN EATER Bloodfeuded SHADOWSPIRE's top dog.
I'm sure SHADOWSPIRE is excited about BRAIN EATER, the new Duelmaster from SOME KINDA
HATE. (remember?) But when you've seen as many as I have... Advice to fighters
with a 1 will--give up fighting!
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... The most avoided team
was OF WOLF AND MAN. The bums at DRAGONBANE GUILD couldn't face the challenges from
OF WOLF AND MAN! No excuse for that! How well I know the feeling of being the most
challenged warrior, HENRY MILLER! Don't make idle boasts, they may come back to
haunt you.
Warriors of SHADOWSPIRE unite. You have only your games to lose! RAMIRUS
larned his lesson (BRAIN EATER taught it well), and we right likely won't be seein'
'im fight any SOME KINDA HATE members with the same gusto. AXEL VON SPIRE was plum
wore out after NIGHTLEAF pounded 'im silly in a Bloodfeud. DRAGONBANE GUILD'll have
to get a little better before going after NIGHTLEAF again! Methinks THE MOTHERSHIP
011's desire for revenge against ME CUT YOUR HEAD passes with each passing moment...
One week left guys! Let's get on with the show! Is it my imagination, or are
fighters getting younger every day? To die so young, so gloriously!
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here?
SHADOWSPIRE is a nice place to live, but I don't like to live in nice places. Time
