TEAM SPOTLIGHT
The goal of the game is taking the title of Duelmaster. This holds special
significance for us here in Shadowspire since it is the highest honor. There are no
tournament victors or tournament champions. All the pomp and circumstance of such
fancies are reserved for managers and warriors after they leave this grand arena
either through team transfer or graduation. This cycle, we take stroll down memory
lane and look position of Duelmaster.
Apart from the initial two turns of the arena, turn 72 is the only cycle Shadowspire
has endured without a Duelmaster. The position is always hotly contested and one of
the most sought after chairs in the far-reaching gladiatorial games. But, you are not
here to listen to me ramble on about the glories of our city (wait, yes you are!)

We hope you have enjoyed this edition of the Shadowspire Yellow Press. We have
expanded our operations to now include the Seam arena. I remain the editor-in-chief
and the primary journalist, but with our growing borders, I have had to hire more
help. We are now a many-tentacled beast. You will see the other reporters pop up
from time to time, but Shadowspire will remain my home and the home of the Yellow
Press.

DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Oh what a beautiful day. Everything from here on out is gravy. Taking the throne from
an AA warrior just makes it all that much better. Not that they are any huge
challenge. Hell Trog knew his faves and is supposed to be going off to help defend us
(Scary Thought). Poor guy, its not all his fault, guess when you are managed by a
turd, some of it is bound to rub off. There were even scribblings on various pieces of
paper around here where he started DM columns (I think) but he never managed to get
anything out there in time. Probably cause Crambus and Den were too busy taking turns
sitting on the throne and congratulating each other on what a splendid job they did
getting there. Funny didn't see either of them in the arena when it came time for the
fight.
Anyway, I am definitely not DM material so I doubt I will be up here again next turn.
If so I'll attempt to come up with something a little more inspiring.

SPY REPORT
I visited a fortune teller this week because I was curious if the number 222 held
any cosmological significance. Actually, I had a lead on another story and this
charlatan was supposed to have some relevant information. Her production of smoke and
mirrors did not disappoint! I gave her a cat's eye for effort, even though she told me
nothing of consequence. But, that is a story for another time! You have come to hear
the wondrous story of the always entertaining Shadowspire!
Furry Fury moves into the number 1 spot with a 4-1-0 turn. NBA Legends drops
down to 5th, but still holds an impressive 9-6-1 for the last three turns. Wicked
Martyrs jumps 5 places to number 3, while Big Lake Outcasts had the biggest jump
moving 9 spots to 7th position.
Pray the Gods and Darque Ages share the misfortune of having the largest drop by
sliding 7 places. Rogue's Den and Doom Brigade did not show up this turn. Will
Stillgard come back and avenge his two fallen warriors from turn 221?
Djeree the Djerk is still DKing! Caligula and Warmasters made their play for the
throne, but after 6 minutes Djeree was once again crowned the Duelmaster. The
Mongoloids II have the top two warriors in the arena, but will those vaunted positions
be enough to maintain their power next turn. The top contender appears to be
Dragonscythe from Dragonbane Guild. Arena watchers will be interested to see if Nomad
and the Guild make a bid for the top seat. Or, will another sneak in a challenge and
dethrone Djeree?
Is it hygiene or inter-personal skills? Do people truly fear the Big Lake
Outcasts? They certainly did this week as Big Lake Outcasts was the most avoided
team. Dragonbane Guild led the pack in turning down challenges from the Outcasts.
Our Duelmaster, Djeree the Djerk, was the most challenged warrior this turn. This is
great news as it shows a competitive fire burning in the hearts of Shadowspire's
managers and warriors!
As I was looking through the fight reports, I was almost disappointed. Apart from
a few blood feuds, there were not any major down challenges. I am now very thankful
for all the enmity that exists between managers here in Shadowspire. This turn, Grimm
decided to share his displeasure with Vanek as Kitty Tantrum goes down the ranks to
challenge Julius. Kitty shows her tantrums are nothing to scoff at as she beats
Julius.
We witnessed five (5) blood feud challenges and four (4) victories in the name of
honor. Big Eddy of Inebriation was the only warrior that failed to avenge his fallen
comrade in a match against Pho C of Otto's Diner. Dave Lebeis of Big Lake Outcasts
gets the Endurance Award this week. It took him 25 minutes, but he was able to avenge
Gunnar Cotton's death at the hands of Rockford from The Commodores. Five (5) were
sent to the Dark Arena this turn, but we are devoid of any upsets as the Dark Arena
crew worked quickly and efficiently.
Bone Munchers loses Cornelius as he made an ill-advised challenge up to Brave
Bull from the Wicked Martyrs stable. We also bid farewell to Fen Drew and Joel
Osteen. We barely knew ye! Dying on your first fight almost makes your career as a
gladiator appear as an epic blunder. I wonder how many street sweepers are lost on
their first day of work?
There is little more to be said this turn. You have witnessed these events with
your own eyes on these fine sands! I look forward to seeing each of you next cycle.

If you plan to attend the Winter Face-to-Face in Phoenix, please let Customer Service
know. We will hold your turns for the few days preceding the tourney, starting with
anything that would mail out on the previous Saturday. (This means that games due on
Thursday the 9th (which would mail on Friday) would probably mail to you, but games
due on the 10th and thereafter will be held and delivered to you at the tournament.
This way, you won't have to worry about not receiving a critical turn before you
depart for Newark, and you also don't have to worry about whether you can get a
reprint before the first turn of the tournament is due.
