Notes from the arena champ.
Farewell, Monoceros! 11-10-7-21-16(+1)-9-12(+1), a PS and a terrible learner! AdEx
in init, att, par, dec, and master defense. Naturally adept with a warhammer
(naturally). Favorite rhythm favors very low OE and a moderate AL. (I never tried
that rhythm or weapon.) Favorite learn is defense.

SPY REPORT
Hello once again, dear readers! It is turn 236 in the grand city of Shadowspire and
what a marvelous turn it is! Welcome once again to the sands of the first and
greatest non-tourney arena. I know many of you managers are recovering from a
tournament at the moment. As such, I will attempt to keep a soft voice so not to
exacerbate any hangover recoveries in progress. Intern Abe always asks to do
tournament coverage, and after that last sentence, it has all become clear to me now.
Oh well, I'll deal with that slush of a nephew afterwards. On to turn 236!
A new turn brings us yet another new champion. Monoceros sat upon the throne last
turn, but he also received his invitation to the Isle. His reign was short-lived, but
glorious all the same. He did receive a challenge from Barbarossa of Darque Ages.
Monoceros walks from Shadowspire as a champion! The reigning Duelmaster defeated his
challenger in a quick 1 minute (and one-sided) bout. Congrats to Monoceros on
immortality and good luck on the Isle! Our new Duelmaster, chosen by Fate some would
say, is Mykul of The Mongoloids II. Mykul takes over the throne of Shadowspire by way
of recognition points after defeating Credits in a 1 minute (and another one-sided)
fight. We offer a hearty congratulations to Otis the Drunk and Mykul. In what
appears to be the new norm, Mykul has received his invitation to the Isle, so the
throne will be up for grabs again next turn. We await turn 237 with bated breath to
see if our new champion will take the throne by might or recognition!
The most avoided team was Monster Manual. Avoiding them the most we find... Darque
Ages! Who doesn't do their best to avoid monsters? My golems are being unclear on
who the most challenged warrior was for this turn. On such occasions, I like to
believe it is our Duelmaster. But, this may only be wishful thinking on my part.
Three teams were missing this turn: Bone Munchers, Errata, and Pray the Gods. We
pray to the gods they will return to us and that only the tourney traveling and
festivities have kept them from us.
Death is a regular part of life in Shadowspire, which sounds really odd when you think
about it. A total of six warriors left their mortal coil this turn. Death has more
of a permanent feel to it in Shadowspire. There are no pacts with Ahringhol come
October here. So, unless a manager packs up his guild and digs up his dead for
another arena--dead really means dead here. Only two were non-Dark Arena deaths, so
only these two are worthy of noting. Global Alarmist of From the Left challenged Feta
Compli from Otto's Diner. It was ill-conceived and Feta Compli let his displeasure be
made known on the sands, where he executed Global Alarmist. The other death match saw
Lunaris of Warmasters challenging Slug Face of War Machine. Slug Face was 1-6-1 prior
to his death, and it is unclear if his manager, Crambus, will miss him at all.
A bit of movement was seen in the team rankings. Warmasters takes over the top spot
on virtue of kills (they have 2 over the last 3 turns). Cult of Bacchus drops down 1
and along with Wicked Martyrs occupies the number 2 spot. Both teams have an
impressive 11-4-0 record. Dragonbane Guild, Primal Instinct, and The Commodores all
moved up 6 places in the rankings. Those were the biggest gains of the turn. The
biggest loses belonged to Monster Manual, who slipped from 7th to 12th, and
Inebriation, who fell a total of 7 spots.
I must be off, a winter storm is coming! I must make sure I have all the proper
supplies: mead, mead, ale, firewood, mead, and those fried orc skins from Otto's
Diner. I hope to see each of you next turn and perhaps a few new faces in the crowd!

At long last, we are finally having a summer FTF in New Orleans! It will be held on
July 15-17, 2016, at the beautiful Hilton New Orleans/St. Charles Avenue in downtown
New Orleans (504-378-2800). Room rates are $145.00 per night, 1-2 occupancy, which
includes free high speed internet. There's a fitness center, jacuzzi, indoor pool,
and business center, as well as several resturants inside the hotel. Valet parking is
