SPY REPORT
Spring readies herself to "spring" upon us in a few short weeks. The familiar chirp
of birds returns to Shadowspire. There is also the lingering odor of gladiator funk
that follows you gents wherever you go! To a manager, the odor rises as the sweet
fragrance of gold and fame. Well, to the rest of us, the gladiators reek of sweat,
ale, and a tinge of regret at not choosing a better career path. However, where could
we find such excitement as we do in the arena? Speaking of the arena, let's get to
Shadowspire's turn 239!
Gibson bids us farewell, leaving for bigger, brighter, and immortal things on the Isle
of the Eye. Wicked Martyrs did not sit idly by and wait for opportunity to fall in
their lap once again, but tried valiantly to retake throne. Bailey posted a challenge
to OMFUG of Some Kinda Hate, attempting to back into the throne via recognition
points. Unfortunately for Bailey, OMFUG appeared prepared for the bout and not only
won the challenge, but took over as Shadowspire's new Duelmaster. Congrats to OMFUG,
who is managed by Mordraith. We also want to congratulate OMFUG, who received an
invitation to the Isle. So, the throne goes up for grabs once again next turn!
Big Lake Outcasts stood as the most avoided team with Primal Instinct avoiding them
the most. This is no surprise considering the amount of jawing taking place in the
personal ads. Krow from Cult of Bacchus was the most challenged warrior.
Inebriation's warrior Wyld Turkey got the go-ahead challenge against Krow, but came up
short in a 1 minute fight. Ill Wind posted a 25 point down challenge to The Paperboy.
I was shocked when Ill Wind lost the fight! Is there some bad blood between Nomad and
Hombre that I missed? Bailey went down 10 to challenge OMFUG, but when you are ranked
at the top with only a teammate above you, what else is left?
Deaths were moderate for the turn. The usual rounds in the Dark Arena occurred.
Surprising everyone, Regiomontanus of Darque Ages returned from the Dark Arena after
slaying Shewish Giant. Word on the street says Regio desires a few words with Master
Darque. The most veteran warrior to die outside of the Dark Arena was Feta Compli of
Otto's Diner. Eat-Sleep-Repeat will perhaps receive a menu special next turn from the
Diner. Overall, not a bloody turn, but the impact of a single death on a squad can be
overwhelming, so we do not wish to underplay its importance with such a statement.
And let's be honest, it can also bring a sigh of relief if the warrior has become an
insufferable pain in the posterior!
The bloodfeuds were certainly interesting next turn. Darque Ages finished their feud
against Jed Sawyer and War Machine with a victory. Sailor Jeffry also completed their
fourth turn of blood feud against Hakeem and NBA Legends with a win. The other two
feuds were anything but ordinary. Two-Finger Tony of Shanghaied was killed by Byruho.
Two-Finger Tony becomes the 2nd warrior from the Shanghaied stable to fall before
Byruho. Perhaps Black Hart would do well to recruit fighters with all their digits
and teeth in the future. The other bloodfeud saw Den's Big Lake Outcasts sending
Hateful Desire to blood feud Beast Within of Primal Instinct. On paper, this one
appeared to be lopsided in Hateful Desire's favor. After all, a 13-6-1 record against
a 2-2-1 warrior seems like a no-brainer. Beast Within shows he is not a warrior to be
trifled with on the sands. He defeated Hateful Desire and catapulted to the top
Basher in the arena. Last turn, I failed to mention that Beast Within overcame
another mismatch when he bested Ryk the Dragon.
Furry Fury falls out of the top spot and Monster Manual takes their place. Darque
Ages jumped 7 spots into 3rd on the strength of a 4-1-1 turn. They are the only new
team in the top 5, replacing Wicked Martyrs, who fell to 6th with a 2-3 effort this
turn. The biggest gain belongs to Pray the Gods, apparently there is something to be
said for piety. They rose 11 places to 10th. There were no massive drops this turn.
As mentioned before, Wicked Martyrs fell 4 spots. Despite taking the throne, Some
Kinda Hate posted a 3-1, but fell 3 spots. Is this related to running less than a
full squad, as Den mentions in the personal ads?
Goodbye to the graduates that left us this turn (Dry Mouth Max and Gibson), and
congratulations to the warriors who received their invitations to the Isle (OMFUG,
Shamino, and Naga). May your future be bright and filled with glory for yourself,
your manager, and for Shadowspire. I must be going. These flower bulbs are not going
