We've all been there. Kicked back in our favorite chair, beverage at hand, getting
ready to crack open the latest edition of the city gossip rag. The best part is

Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly SHADOWSPIRE games. Warriors--remember that glory
waits always around the corner! Witness how this week SHANGHAIED went 4-1-0 to move
up 5 in the rankings. My praise to KILL 'EM ALL for their 4-1-0 week this time out.
Indeed, it was a skillfully fought round deserving of notice! RAT CATCHER caught the
eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested SUMMIT SAGA and
was awarded 20 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, ZLATA
put down YOSHA, causing him to lose 13 points of recognition in the process. Not for
nothing has TUMMY TUM TUM in the past laid claim to the Duelmaster's throne, and this
week he's proven his combat skill yet again. Informants "close" to the city champion
have told me that he never fights without pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
Many and various are the arts of battle. In SHADOWSPIRE "art" is a word that
has long since passed from the language! My inside sources tell me that the team to
beat in SHADOWSPIRE these days is BIG LAKE SOLUTION. At least, most blades in town
are looking to avoid them. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was
that spent the better part of last week avoiding BIG LAKE SOLUTION. Indeed it was
MIRKWOOD ORCS. Mighty fighters cannot but expect competition from those below.
PRINCE HOYT take warning! You have more than a few enemies in SHADOWSPIRE. For some
warriors honor is not important--only empty victory. See, gladiators, how COTTON
MOUTH of INEBRIATION challenged down 18 points to SCRIPTORIA. The weight of the
challenge fell hard upon SCRIPTORIA and predictably she was beat by COTTON MOUTH.
This is how to arouse the anger of an entire guild! I can not but mention with
disdain the name of ROBBY WAGNER who this week posted a challenge to a warrior a full
11 points below in the rankings. I thought ROBBY WAGNER showed great skill and
promise when it was subdued by CROWN APPLE. All right, so I slept through it! Big
deal!
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? The warrior's path is harsh. For mediocrity there is but one
reward--death. This past week DOROTHY PARKER, at 3-9-0, departed SHADOWSPIRE
forever. I must report the passing of GLAMDRING, veteran of many duels. 3-7-0 final
record His was not illustrious--but death plays no favorites. Some say a warrior is
judged by the way he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a
sword on the belt!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Ahh, but I can hear the spires of a far off
