ALE HOUSE MERCS
THE SEARCH FOR DESTINY
Destiny was dead. Apparently she had eaten a bad batch of gremlin stew over at Otto's
Diner. Last time Pauly was in town she had been a waitress at the Gringolet Lounge.
More importantly, she had been a surprisingly reliable source of information from all
over Alastari. So now, Pauly found himself standing in the bustling streets of
Shadowspire, contemplating his next move.
"What do you think?" asked Pauly, glancing at his shoulder. Perched there was a
Midnight Black Chaos Gauntlet (tm). In that gauntlet resided the Hand of Nuln,
henceforth to be referred to as tHoN.
tHoN tapped his index finger up and down in thought. Suddenly, he stood up tall on his
fingertips, then rolled onto his side and pointed down the street. Pauly looked and
could just make out the words on a sign:

"No way! I wonder if the old man is here operating the place himself," said Pauly, as
he made his way towards the shop. As he got closer, Pauly noticed the sign and
building were battered and weathered, badly needing a new coat of paint. Even worse,
the doors and windows were all boarded up. As Pauly got near the entrance, he saw an
old faded sign.

"Well, this day just keeps getting better and better," mumbled Pauly. He turned,
deciding to finally go check in with the Ale House Mercs at the stable house. Maybe
they knew where Indimar was. About halfway there, tHoN hopped off Pauly's shoulder
and scurried over towards an old beggar, huddled up against a building, scattering
screaming pedestrians in his wake. The beggar soon noticed tHoN scrambling towards
him. He stood up and turned running down a nearby alley. The beggar had long gray
hair and beard, both of which were a tangled matted mess. He also wore a few layers of
filthy, raggedy robes, that flapped around him wildly as he ran. Pauly followed tHon
and the beggar down the alley.
The surprisingly agile old beggar looked like he might actually get away, but as he
looked back to see where his tiny pursuer was, he stumbled and fell face first into a
muddy puddle. He rolled over onto his back and tHoN leaped onto his chest and appeared
to start dancing, as far as Pauly could tell. While dancing the gauntlet changed from
Midnight Black to an Electric Blue Chaos Gauntlet (tm). The beggar, now even filthier,
lifted his head, and just stared at tHoN, eyes widening in recognition. He then looked
up at Pauly who had just stepped up to the scene. The beggar's eyes widened even
more, this time in alarm. He slapped tHoN off his chest, sending him flying, electric
blue mist trailing behind. The beggar then turned and scrambled away on all fours,
diving into a pile of refuse, all the while yelling, "Don't look at me! Go away!"
'That voice,' thought Pauly... 'It couldn't be...' He slowly walked over to the now
sobbing beggar who looked like he was trying to burrow through the alley floor. Pauly
reached down and put his on on the beggar's soiled shoulder. He instantly stopped
sobbing and pawing at the ground. He slowly turned to face Pauly, who gasped in
disbelief. Behind all the tangled hair and grime, he recognized who it was. His
father, Sir Indimar Fallon.

SPY REPORT
Welcome back to the "Greatest Show on Sand!" That's right! You are back in The Spire
and ready to hear about today's action. We had a few delays as thunderstorms rolled
through the area, but we quickly got back on schedule. I vote we continue through the
storm, but after that gladiator in full plate got zapped with a bolt of stray
lightning, Arenamaster has decided to err on the side of caution. Okay, let's see what
happened today in our wonderful arena. I'm going to report chronologically today. So,
we will start from the earliest events - night fights and move on to the title match.
Death is a reality in this life you have chosen, so it is no surprise when one falls
on the arena's sands. At times, it is expected, as in the Dark Arena, and other times
takes you by surprise. Before sunrise, there were three (3) fights by torchlight. All
were rookies, so we won't ever know their true potential. Their managers did not see
anything worth exploring in them, so perhaps the fewer questions we ask the better. On
the regular sands, we witnessed a new warrior from Pray the Gods fall. Vlad deemed
Mohanty worthy, but his life and career were cut short by Old Peculiar. I believe the
shocking death for the turn came when Curandero fell to Reika. Curandero started
strong with a 4-1 record, but as we witnessed today, it only takes one loss for it all
to come crashing down. Condolences to the dead!
Darque Ages is the most avoided team for turn 453. They were mostly avoided by Roman
Empire. According to my report, it looks like they still had a random matchup with one
another. No system is perfect, I guess. The most challenged warrior is George Eliot.
She got the call to fight Far Travelers' warrior, Zakariya. It was a longer fight at 5
minutes, but Zakariya was eventually triumphant.
Now to the title fight! Or, maybe that should be title fights since we had to have two
fights to determine our newest Duelmaster. We will start with Galpoh Chipaxe, our
reigning champ entering the turn. He was challenged by Hana, but she was not able to
overcome our departing Galpoh. So, Galpoh leaves with another win to his record, but
he goes to the Isle of the Eye leaving us with an empty Duelmaster's throne. We need
to fill it. Our other title fight involved two Challenger Champions, Bavil and
Tankera. In a random match, Bavil defeated Tankera and at the end of the day's fights,
Bavil had the most recognition points. Congrats to our newest Duelmaster, Bavil from
Clan Longbeard!
Time for me to leave the arena and head to the nearest tavern. We all know that I'm
going to end up at Otto's Diner, so I'll see most of you there tomorrow morning. But
before that, I need to swing into the Cult of Bacchus guildhouse and see if they have
any offerings that need to be taste-tested. I do enjoy the summer brews! you know how
