True Duelmaster, in His Own Magnificent Voice
Ah, greetings to ze unworthy masses! Zis is Karl-Franz, ze glistening pinnacle of
gladiatorial perfection, here to regale you with ze tale of my recent triumph over ze
so-called "legendary" Wyrmshadow. Ha! A dragon in name only, zis pitiful beast fell
before my might like a sapling to ze hurricane! Vith my bare hands--ja, you heard me
correctly--I dismantled his scales, crushed his pride, and sprinkled ze ashes of his
legend on ze sands of Shadowspire.
But alas! Zis column is not just to boast--although boasting is a noble art in vhich I
excel. Nein, zis is about betrayal! After my victory, ze spineless Gladiatorial
Commission, zat gaggle of number-crunching parchment-huggers, dared to inform me zat
my favored weapon is ze short spear! Ze SHORT spear? Ach! Zis insult cuts deeper zan
any blade. How dare zey assign zis flimsy toothpick to a titan such as myself? My
enemies deserve annihilation by ze zweihdnder or ze warhammer--not ze gardening tools
of peasants!
But enough about zose bureaucratic cowards! Let us turn our gaze to ze future--
specifically, ze Dark Arena, vhere I go to claim my final, greatest victory. Ze beast
zat awaits me? A true monster, zey say. A creature of nightmares, forged in ze depths
of Ahringol's shadowy crucible.
Perfect.
For zis final battle, zere vill be no Commission to tell me vat weapon I must use.
Nein! Karl-Franz vill fight as he pleases, unleashing ze full fury of his
magnificence. Ze crowd vill scream, ze earth vill tremble, and ze heavens vill take
note, for zis is not just a duel--it is a performance! Ven I strike ze final blow, ze
gates of immortality vill swing open, and Talhaya herself vill greet me as her
champion.
To my fans, I say zis: Prepare your voices for ze loudest cheers ze world has ever
known. To my critics: Ha! Your doubt fuels my triumph. And to ze beast in ze Dark

Coming to you from the comfort of my armchair, holding a goblet of something . . .
well-aged, It is me, Huard DePriest, bringing you all the news worth knowing from The
Spire. We had lots of action today with many ups and downs. You'll have to decide
which side you're on today after I share this report with you. Let's get started!
Hail to the New Champ! The mighty Karl-Franz from Far Travelers decided that
retirement from The Spire and immortality were worth stepping into the Dark Arena.
Facing Bandit Prince, K-F put on a one-last-show type of performance and left the
arena a victor! Congratulations on a well-earned retirement or continuation. We will
have to wait and see what he does now that he is leaving Shadowspire.
Stepping up to claim the throne? None other than Dorne from Cult of Bacchus! He was
bloodfeuded by Refrigerator Perry. Dorne made sure the big man stayed on defrost.
Duelmaster Dorne-try not to let the power go to your head. Or do, we could use more
entertaining title fights in this arena.
It looks like the arena's finest were practicing the art of NOT fighting this week, as
Darque Ages topped the "Let's Run from Them" list. Who was ducking away the most? Ale
House Mercs led with the avoids. Maybe they wanted to save their strength for more,
uh, liquid pursuits. Tenn Penn of Wicked Martyrs was the warrior that everyone wanted
a piece of today. Unfortunately for Fopdoodle, he got his wish! It did not go well as
Tenn Penn handled business and sent his challenger packing to the healers!
Another turn, another round of victories, losses, deaths, bruised egos, and bad
decisions. Come back in two weeks to see Dorne defend the title before moving off to
the Isle. Yes, our Duelmaster got his graduation notice along with the big man, Shaq.
