DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
The crowd roared as Arcane, a whirlwind of scarred muscle, faced Maroon Monk.
Tripwire, his manager, a shadow lurking in the arena's gloom, had told him to throw
the fight! He had plans for Arcane in some upcoming tournaments in the future. At
the last minute he had also placed a substantial wager on Monk. Arcane, however,
fought with a furious pride that surprised everyone, he simply couldn't do it this
time. These losses when he knew he was the better warrior were frustrating and his
pride had gotten the best of him. His slashing style, usually precise and controlled,
was a brutal ballet of defiance and efficiency.
Monk, caught off guard by Arcane's unexpected ferocity, faltered. The predicted loss
turned into a stunning victory. Arcane, the underdog, was the new Duelmaster. The
cheers were deafening, but Arcane's glory and feeling of exhilaration was short-lived
when he saw Tripwire's face was a mask of pure rage.
Later, in the dim light of Tripwire's office, the air crackled with menace. "The Dark
Arena awaits," Tripwire hissed, his voice a low growl. "You defied me. Next time,
there will be no second chance." Arcane, his gaze faltering, met Tripwire's threat
with a grim nod. The new champion's reign had begun, but it was a reign under a very
dark cloud.
SPY REPORT
I was going on vacation, see? Surf, sun... But what do those bums say? "Hit
the road, Debby Tonte. DWES EG needs a spyreport." Oh, well. MONSTER MASH-A had
like a really albendranius week! Those hunks got a 2-0-0 and wound up as 3rd team!
I couldn't believe it. Did END OF THE LINE really go up by 12? If only those guys
didn't have so may missing teeth... Gross! DAMAGE INC. had like a really
albendranius week! Those hunks got a 1-0-0 and wound up as 16th team! I couldn't
believe it. Did DREAM RIPPERS really go up by 16? If only those guys didn't have so
may missing teeth... Gross! Really, just how far can one team drop in one round?
UTOPIA RELIGIOSO dropped 14, which I think's more than all the other teams combined!
See if I even talk to any of those losers in BIG STRONG MEN again! Didja see where
they got 0-2-0? Somebody musta won a lotta fights! Wanna hear about a real loser?
Listen to this--FAMOUS GOLFERS got 0-2-0 and dropped 13. Didn't see much of them
after the fights! Really, just how far can one team drop in one round? YEOMAN
JOHNSON dropped 14, which I think's more than all the other teams combined! See if I

0-1-0? Somebody musta won a lotta fights! Wanna hear about a real loser? Listen to
this--BLUE TIME JEWELS got 0-1-0 and dropped 13. Didn't see much of them after the
fights! MVP award for STRING THEORY? INSANE IDEAS' proud of him after beating
CRIMSON CANON and getting 31 points. Talk about yer big time losers! THE NOMAD got
smashed by ANKHEG, and lost 17 points! Don't you think the Duelmaster is being
unfair? I think ARCANE should let SPIT ROASTER be Duelmaster for a while, without
fighting about it. Is the Duelmaster really being a real snob to his teammates?
Don't ask me!
So just why would someone becomes a warrior anyway? It can't be for these
really neat Spyreports can it? DREAM RIPPERS was DWES EG's most avoided team. Is
there some award for that? Hhmph! What kind of warriors are YEOMAN JOHNSON? DREAM
RIPPERS, an easy team to beat if I ever saw one, can't get them to accept an
invitation! Like, is HELLSPECTRE popular, or what? He was challenged the most in
all of DWES EG! He's got a 8-9-1, is that good? JACK MCCALL must not be a good
enough fighter to get in fair fights. He challenged BRIDGE OF HONOR. 9 is a big
difference. (Well, that's what they tell me.) I thought JACK MCCALL showed great
skill and promise when he overcame BRIDGE OF HONOR. All right, so I slept through
it! Big deal!
Man, all these warriors dying and killing each other! Don't you guys ever give
it a break? What a bummer deal for KENNY! He just barely was getting his "fighter
feet" but got kill by HELLSPECTRE of OBLIVION CLEAVERS! Those're the breaks, I
guess. BLACK FEATHER of TRIBAL COUNCIL 9 wasn't planning on killing GIMBLEJACK, I
bet. Now he has to worry about being Bloodfeuded, and getting put on lists... It
was kind of sad, seeing old SKYBLINDER stumbling around the arena, before FRENCH PEA
2 finished him off. Oh well! What if they had a fight and nobody showed up? I'd be
out of a job, that's what!!!
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand
wash. I know how much you like reading this stuff, but I really should stop. Its
