                             Notes from the arena champ.

Greetings, Telorinthe!

Thanks for the welcome back, but having come in with 16 Political Points under
my belt, I wasn't expecting to stay long. The commission tells me that I like the
Broadsword, despite my not having the Strength to use it well, and a Moderate /
Moderate fighting rhythm. I also knew that I had a tendency to learn parry skills,
which actually kept me around here longer than normal, but that's probably more
because of my -3 attack rating, which really hurt when facing defensive warriors. My
starting numbers were 9-11-14-15-21-3-11. But now here I stand on 3rd in the bottom
of the ninth, and the coach is relaying me a do or die sign, and as you can clearly
see, I don't have much speed.

                                      SPY REPORT

If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
TELORINTHE brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Now let's all watch BAD SIGNS'
heads swell from their 4-1-1 this turn. Haa ha ha ha! Big shots, big talk, big
deal. I can just hear all the boasts coming in DOC LEGRANDS' LAB's next personal
ads. Their first turn they went 4-1-2. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to
see OUT FOR A DUCK win a fight and gain 24 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, OUT FOR A
DUCK beat BAD BAD BASSO and BAD BAD BASSO lost 17 points. You're breakin' my heart.
Going for broke or broken, our Duelmaster HIGH ELF Dark Arena Challenged this turn.
And if variety is the spice of life, TELORINTHE may be getting bland, as STEAL HOME
stays top dog in the city. Kickbacks and bribes, kickbacks and bribes, how else do
you think some of these guys win their fights? Skill? Ha!
He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day, the coward. PUNY
ORC PELOTON, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this turn's most avoided team.
Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And who led the way in this mass act of
cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was OLDIES. Ha ha ha ha! Ooh, I'm
frightfully impressed, BAD BAD BASSO was this turn's most challenged warrior. Watch
that ego swell, sports fans.
Death and Taxes. The less death I see, the more it taxes my patience. Let's
see if anyone's dead or dying. BAD SIGNS has cause to pause today, as STEAL HOME was
sent to the Dark Arena, and came back--though not in the best of moods, I'll wager.
Honor is like a chainmail shirt, it only shines through use. Certain nameless
cowards will doubtless rebuke me on this one.
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for
an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Phlllt! Just had to do that before
I leave the fine city of TELORINTHE. I feel much better now. Paste this one in your
scrapbooks, you'll need the kindling come this winter-- Snide Clemens

Welcome back, Bad Signs. Nice turn. -- Coach
P.S. Congrats to Duelmaster Steal Home.

Wigin's Wig -- When Coach said to welcome his newest, 7th & Main, I don't think he
meant THAT!. You meanie. -- 7th & Main

Tamarind -- I am glad they allowed Altar Gals. It is amazing the fun we can have
back in the Sacristy. Thanks for letting me have my way with you. (wink) We must
do it again. -- Altar Boy

Spanish Beef -- That hurt. One for the slugbait! Now, you aren't gonna treat me
like Sergio does Tiger, are you? -- Sport

Out For A Duck -- I considered you a GOOD sign. -- Contract Bridge, retired (but went
out with a win)

Sam Tall -- Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. --
Custodian
P.S. You may have thought I cleaned your office, but just wait until you open your
desk drawer!

Health. Humility. Honor. -- Coach

Well, dang! I wasn't sure if the strats for this past turn had been sent in or not.
Guess not. Sorry about that, Telorinthe, the intent had been to fight last turn. The
real surprise, however, was finding out that the entire team did not get the turn off
--Cornelius did take the sands. Now, how did one member of a team that has never
been on maintenance end up fighting? With a little checking I noticed that Bad Signs
returned to the sands last turn (welcome back!)--or, at least 4 of their warriors did
so. That ugly orange warning sign for construction zones appeared to take the turn
off--and has an ID number just one off of Cornelius. Perhaps that would explain the
rather shocking outfit, weapons, and strat Corn found waiting for him in the locker
room. So is that how a Construction Zone operates? Interesting... And the House
should be back at full strength this turn. -- Dimetreas

Olovar Paris -- I, also, refuse to believe I am a dwarf. Soemobody at the commission
has been quafing too much brew. -- Silverback

Telorinthe -- We should be back for a while, but your handing us a 1-3 record last
turn was not inviting. -- Dark Oracle, mgr of Bad Signs.

Contract Bridge -- Glad to see you take your rubber, but it felt like a 1NT re-
doubled down 7. -- Out For A Duck

Bad Bad Basso -- Whatever happened to your buddy Pierce. He was my favourite name
on your team. -- Steal Home

Roid Floyd -- Keep popping your pills and I'll keep taking those shots. I'm just not
sure why it took you so long. -- Lump

Sky High Omerta -- Oh, I dream of the days of being over .500, but I challenge you to
match my kill totals. -- Kellumbo's Inits

Coach -- (recoiling in horror) The Isle! Do I *have* to go? I was thinking of
starting a ski lodge up in the mountains above the city. -- Sam Tall

Custodian -- I could always use a maintenance man at my ski lodge. -- Sam Tall

Altar Boy -- *I* slipped away with the collection? That's *your* story, but it did
not happen like that. What are those coins in your pocket, eh? -- Tamarin Urlik

Spanish Beef -- Ah, but I taught the skills in English. You probably didn't
understand. -- Petro Salm

Custodian -- A good try, but you should save your energy for shoveling snow up at the
lodge. -- Sam Tall

Kung-Fu? Tcha. -- Melanie Obern

Cornelius -- I was doing fine without that loss. -- Petro Salm

Altar Boy -- You never learn! STILL you are trying to slip coins into your pocket.
-- Tamarind Urlik

I don't like thieves. -- Olovor Paris

Our congratulations to Steal Home and Roid Floyd. -- Jorja and those who walk the
Middle Way
