TEAM SPOTLIGHT
"I didn't sign up for this." Sir Round looked to his right, making eye contact
with Sir Render, newest member of the Queen's Guard.
He nodded slightly and smiled in response to the young man's anxious glance.
"Action in adversity!" He shouted, and the young man responded in kind, bringing his
halbard blade up sharply. Around the room, the Queen's Guard repeated their mantra in
loud, unsteady voices.
"Steady, men!" Queen Artemis yelled, and all eyes returned to the spinning vortex
overhead, the Chaos Gate made semi-stable by the great magic of the woodland
enchantress. She climbed onto her dragon mount, as Dragon Master and Wailin' Van Halen
did likewise. Dragon Master looked comfortable; Wailin' was white knuckling his reins
even as the dragon shifted under him.
Sir Round dropped his visor, and squatted down wrapping his cloak around his
face, as the dragons beat their wings slowly and rose majestically above the crowd
below. He could feel the tremendous wind of their escape, and heard the "pop" of air
as they flew through the Chaos Gate. Then he stood.
And waited.
Like a vision viewed in a crystal ball, Sir Round could make out a blurry picture
of dragons in flight, some sort of pitched battle and, on the cliffs of a remote
mountain peak, two figures hanging on for dear life.
Sir Round strode forward and hopped up on a rocky outcropping, giving him a
slight height advantage of the men in his charge. The halbardiers were mercenaries,
come to Telorinthe from the southern lands beyond the Shagornan Desert, and all battle
tested. They were used to dragons, and chaos gates, and had never lost a war they
fought in. But demons and other planes were new to them, and years of command across
Alastari and beyond had taught Sir Round that novelty made men anxious, and anxiety
caused trained men to be distracted. Distracted men died.
"Whatever comes out of that gate with the dragons, if it bleeds we can kill it."
He made eye contact with each man individually. "Our mission hasn't changed: Protect
the Queen. Action in..."
Sir Round's cloak billowed around him, and all eyes turned up, toward the gate.
The audible "pop" of the first dragon exiting the gate occurred simultaneously with
the hurricane gust of wind, blowing most of the warriors flat to the ground. Sir Round
had reflexively wrapped his cloak around him and hit one knee, dropping his head to
protect his eyes from dust and debris. He could feel the first dragon fly low
overhead, and felt the percussion of its feet hitting the ground.
The second dragon's burst through the gate, and Nemesis' screams of pain were
clear over the wind. In concern, Sir Round started to stand; the hurricane burst of
the third dragon flattened him to the ground, knocking the wind out of him. Cursing
himself for being so foolish as to lose count, Sir Round stood up, sucking wind and
coughing. He flipped up his visor, and ran towards the dragons.
"Healer!" Dragon Master yelled, dropping gracefully off her dragon and running
toward Nemesis, who continued to scream in pain. Sir Round pushed his way through his
men, carefully avoiding their halbard blades, and moving forward ready for anything.
On the ground, held down by Channel Master, Dragon Master, Wailin' Van Halen, and
Queen Artemis, Nemesis grabbed at the glassy, obsidian blade that impaled her cleanly
through the ankle. The blood spurted through the ripped pieces of fabric they tried to
contain it with, along the black matte blade, and over the hilt that looked like
exactly like a twisted, clawed hand, holding an alien blade.
SPY REPORT
You have entered into the spy report for the ONLY no tourney slow arena in the land.
Shadowspire holds the distinction of being the first no tourney arena. Seam holds the
title of most scenic no tourney arena with its memorable faultline and wonderful
baths. As great as those arenas sound, they are not Telorinthe! I'm not sure where I
was going with this line of thought, but we are Telorinthe and we are just better, so
just sit back and listen to my EXCITING spy report!
We will start with the most important fight of the day! What can be more important or
exciting than the title fight in Telorinthe? Being able to leave my home without a
mask and the ability to be within six feet of other people would be amazing right now,
but in the arena, there is nothing more exciting than the title fight! King Chappa
sits atop the arena, who will be brave enough to challenge the king? It looks like
Choco, the top Slasher in the arena, wanted a shot at the top Lunger. It looks like
Chappa is still king . . . and Duelmaster! Choco falls in 1-minute to King Chappa. If
my records are correct, King Chappa should get an invite if he keeps the throne next
turn. Exciting times!
Kame House may be tops in the land with the Duelmaster, but Riff-Raff Crew has the
best record over the last 3 turns. They knock Dragon Master and The Dragons off of
their perch. Kame House did jump into 2nd place, rising a total of 5 spots. Nemesis
and her crew, The Ferocious Five, inch up one spot to 3rd. House of Fur falls to 5th
and finish out our top teams. Queen's Guard is inactive once again, so maybe someone
send out a missive to Gentleben and make sure he is okay!
The most avoided team is The Ferocious Five. They were mostly avoided by House of
Fur. In the challenge department, Taco Cat was the most challenged warrior. This is
interesting because Taco Cat was sent to the Dark Arena and accounts for this turn's
only death. Did you know that Taco Cat spelled backwards is Taco Cat?
Time for me to go! I hope we can see each other - in person - soon! You can imagine
that a social butterfly such as myself is having a hard time under quarantine! I hope
each of you stay safe and that I can see your smiling faces (or grimacing in the case
of Darque) next cycle! Take care!

Antonio Brown -- Congrats on being most popular! We were big fans of yours before you
went viral. Plus, defeating Death. I mean, who doesn't like that? -- RRC

you to feel like you were doing a good job ... You *almost* had me, but then you
didn't. Try try again! -- Rage Quit
Anael Blackfeather -- I'm no expert, but you may be a carrying a wee bit too much. I
could see you struggling to move, and I almost felt sorry for you. Almost. --
Physicality
Ron Rivera -- I heard a rumor that "NFL" stands for "Not For Long" if you don't win
out of the gate. Is that true? -- Frenemy
Erik Dickerson -- I gotta hand it to you, you're persistent. I'm still not going to
go out with you, but I admire your spirit! -- Hot Yoga
Dragons -- Someone is spreading a nasty rumor that Riff-Raff Crew is avoiding you.
Simply not true! Well, maybe White Lion is. We are only avoiding Death Bringer; she
is mean. -- Riff-Raff
