'Tales from Telo 6' by Hammer the WordSmith

Amplified Classic
Thia Salanora attended to her last-minute instructions for the four offenders who had
been sentenced to fight in the Dark Arena, before joining Hammer and Obedience Hammer
in their reserved seat section to view the torch-light fights.
Obedience Hammer sat silently transfixed as Hammer spoke softly to the newest member
of his Aaaarrgh Hammerz stable.
"I am placing you in charge of being the Captain of this stable," stated Hammer
matter-of-factly, "even if one or more of these four offenders manages to survive."
Obedience Hammer merely nodded as he focused his attention upon Vengeance Hammer, as
the Aimer was unable to either defend himself or even launch an attack against the
Dark Arena Striker known as Wurm Kin. It only took six attacks with the longsword to
dispatch the hapless Vengeance Hammer with hits to his chest, stomach, right arm,
head, face and body.
Hammer smiled with satisfaction at the first minute death.
Outlander Hammer was up next, matched against the Dark Arena Wall Of Steel named
Bandit Prince. The Basher made three unsuccessful swings with his maul, before Bandit
Prince hit his right leg with a scimitar.
Outlander Hammer tried to answer back with his maul, but Bandit Prince parried with
his scimitar and made a furious slash that struck Outlander Hammer in the right thigh.
The first minute finished with an unsuccessful maul smash, which was all the offense
that Outlander Hammer would be able to muster, because in minute two Bandit Prince
struck Outlander Hammer on the right arm that knocked the Basher to the ground, where
he died after being hit in the forehead.
Again, a satisfied smile could be seen on the face of Hammer.
Surprisingly, it was the 4-15-0 Total Parry Valentine Hammer that made the best
showing of the four in a three-minute bout with the Dark Arena Basher Shewish Giant.
Shewish Giant swung first with his halbard that broke Valentine Hammer's off-handed
hatchet, leaving only her shortsword, with nary a backup weapon to help save her life.
Valentine Hammer quickly struck Shewish Giant on the right rib, the pelvis and the
head before Shewish Giant was able to use his halbard to absorb another blow.
But Vengeance Hammer was able to strike Shewish Giant in the head and then avoid a
blow from the halbard, as minute one came to an end.
Valentine Hammer continued pressing the attack in minute two by striking Shewish Giant
on the right ribcage and again with a lower body hit.
Shewish Giant was able to avoid another blow and then locked their weapons together in
a show of strength, before taking a swipe with his halbard that Valentine Hammer
managed to parry with her shortsword.
She deflected another attack with her shortsword, traded attacks and parries, then
deflected yet another attack with her shortsword, before viciously hacking with her
shortsword as minute two concluded.
Shewish Giant was hit in the forehead in the opening of minute three, but managed to
smash with his halbard and wound Valentine Hammer in her left biceps!
Valentine Hammer slowly fell to her knees and then a final swipe with the halbard
wounded her in the head and she died.
Obedience Hammer noticed another smile of satisfaction on the face of Hammer.
Something rarely seen when a Hammer warrior was slain.
2017 Brawl Hammer was also matched against Bandit Prince and the Basher was unable to
connect with his maul as his Dark Arena opponent either parried with his scimitar or
avoided the blow a total of four times.
Bandit Prince struck back with his scimitar, wounding 2017 Brawl Hammer in the
abdomen, before the Wall Of Steel avoided two more blows by the Basher to end minute
one.
Minute two opened with 2017 Brawl Hammer taking a hit to the ribs, the pelvis, the
abdomen and then a blow to the neck slew the misfortunate Basher.
Obedience Hammer noticed that Hammer had a far-away look in his eyes, as though the
veteran manager had hoped that 2017 Brawl Hammer would have survived, but the look
quickly vanished, as another seemingly smile of satisfaction was duly noted.
[TIME JUMP]
Hammer and Thia Salanora made a careful evaluation of the new recruits who had
auditioned as replacements for the Aaaarrgh Hammerz stable.
Two of them were noted to be suitable replacements, while the other two were to prove
their mettle by fighting by torch-light to gain the right to represent the Aaaarrgh
Hammerz stable in the months to come.
Obedience Hammer was charged with the responsibility to show them to their quarters
and help groom them for their first fight.
Hammer called aside Obedience Hammer to congratulate him for his second fight that had
resulted in a 14-minute loss against Beki of Shadow Of Mega. It had been a random
matchup, because Ten Toes of D'Orks had failed to show up to fight in the arena,
denying Obedience Hammer the opportunity of a bloodfeud.
"Perhaps Ten Toes will show up this cycle," the veteran manager grinned, "but if he
fails to show up for another bloodfeud ... then you will have a chance to challenge
another worthy opponent to sharpen your skills and experience!"
Obedience Hammer merely nodded. He was grateful for the opportunity, but the prospect
of watching two more Dark Arena fights was not high on his list of personal priorities
at the present time.
He had work to do and new stable mates to show the ropes, as their very lives may
depend upon how well they fare on the Telo Arena sands!

SPY REPORT
YAY! It is arena day once again in Telorinthe and as you have probably guessed - I AM
EXCITED! There is nothing better than coming to the arena, meeting with the managers,
and talking with the warriors. What a wonderful opportunity to meet so many
interesting people from so many different places! How often can you talk to a golem,
an elf, a werewolf, and an Aruaki werecat in the same place, and that is just the
warriors. The managers are an even more colorful group! I love this place if you
can't tell, and I am glad all of you are here for this cycle's action.
J.J. Watt has been on the throne for a very long time, but did you know he is not even
close to the Telorinthe arena record. Yes, someone once held the Duelmaster's throne
for 25 consecutive turns, which is impressive! But, when you consider this is a slow
arena, that is a month over 2 whole years. Yes, that is pretty impressive and maybe
someday a Consortium representative will come and tell us all about it. Until then,
we have had J.J. Watt on the throne and this turn he fought Master Roshi for the
title.
I noticed a lot of people got up from their seats and left when this match was
announced on the sands. It is the classic TP vs. LU match up with everyone assuming
the TP is going to win. I hope you were not one of those that left because you would
have missed an epic fight that ends with Master Roshi being our newest Duelmaster!
Congrats to Master Roshi, who is managed by Floyd.
Telorinthe witnessed 7 deaths today on the sands. Most of them were in the Dark
Arena, but arena veteran Harley from House of Fur died in the regular fights. She was
sitting at 14-13 before today's games, but Pukei killed her in a random match up.
There were also a few blood feuds taking place that stirred up the crowd. Wyan killed
Detention last turn, and Hilary Clinton was not going to let that go unpunished. She
challenged and beat Wyan in a quick 1-minute fight.
Next in a jaw-dropping shocker, Greg Olsen (14-9-2) feuded F-3PO (4-3-1). I know if I
were a gambler, I would quickly put my money on Greg Olsen. I hope you now understand
why I am not a gambler as F-3PO was victorious! The last feud comes to us via Conjure
the Sun and Scorpio's Likes. Heat Wave did his best to melt Ice Man, but it was not
to be! Ice Man keeps his cool and wins in 2 minutes.
Shout out to Dragon Master for getting yet another warrior to Advanced Duel2. Though
she is small, she is mighty! So take that as a warning if you match up with The
Dragons. It should not be long before the others kid managers are following with
their own graduates! Good luck to all, young and old . . . and not so old!
I hate that I cannot stay longer, but there is so much more to do in the arena. Have
you seen the fried cake vendor on the north side? So delicious! What about the
performers on the east? There is so much more to do on arena day than just watch the
fights. I encourage you to go out and to explore the arena and all the vendors around
the fight complex. You will not be disappointed! See you next time!
