TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Artemis hated fire. Fire could be a tool, yes, but she had seen it destroy. She
had always been fond of nature, but when fire came, she was terrified.
"You must learn to face that...fear of yours," her Father told her, not looking
up from his scroll. "Go to...." *Dramatic pause* "The underworld. See how some of the
dead warriors are doing." Artemis tried to protest, put one stern look from her father
was all it took to hush her up.
"What do you want me to do?? Collect some fire in a bottle?" Artemis asked,
trying to hide her fear. The underworld was filled with fire.
"Hmmm," Master Darque said, scratching his chin. "Yes that will do. Fire from the
dark abyss."
*Time Hop*
Artemis shouldered her pack and shook her head at her wolves, falcon, and two
bears that tried to follow her out the door.
"It's too dangerous for you guys out there. I don't want you to get hurt. Mama
bear, you're in charge. Don't destroy the house either. Stay in your cave." With that,
the young queen turned and left, trying to ignore her animals' pleas for her to stay.
*Time Hop*
Artemis felt her way through the dark arena, feeling the burning stares of all
the monsters. Ignoring the monsters, Artemis found the hole where the dead were
dumped, and sent into the abyss. Scrunching her nose, and swallowing her fear, she
leapt.

Thia Salanora was busy explaining to the newly recruited gladiators that although
Hammer was presiding as host over the opening of his Kaltos Kaos contest at the Kaltos
Arena, the veteran manager was well able to arrive in plenty of time to watch his
newly-recruited gladiators debut on the Telorinthe Arena sands!
Afterall, the veteran manager had in his possession his Elven Orbs of Transport
that enabled Hammer to transverse the time/space/dimensions/continuums with relative
ease, plus moving through the Mirror Realm with relative ease from mirror to mirror.
Just like with baseball, the veteran manager had put the past failures of his
Aaaarrgh Hammerz stable behind him; looking forward to managing a new collection of
gladiators, in what had become one of the favorite arenas for Hammer to focus his
attention upon!

TEAM SPOTLIGHT -- RIFF-RAFF CREW
"No!" The demon shouted as Channel Master leapt unexpectedly into action.
Arms flailing in surprise, the green demon giant released its weapon as it tried
to fend off the sudden attack, the halbard tracing a graceful arc as it flew away
majestically.
Channel Master grabbed tenaciously on to whatever he could grab, refusing to
yield his grip even as his supernatural opponent resisted.
Channel Master gritted his teeth, wrapping his hands and arms in the demon's long
flowing cloak, and shifted shadow.
In an instant, they were gone.
The demon's halberd felt to the ground, its blue light going out like a candle in
a strong wind. Dragon Master watched from above as, incredulously, Channel Master
seemed to teleport, appearing near the demon and launching himself at the large green
mass.
They disappeared with just a pop! Of air as the atmosphere filled in the spot
where they had been. Red Death circled the area slowly, routing the last of the the
demons with fire, before coming in and settling down.
Leaderless and harried by avian wildlife, the demons fled, disappearing into the
countryside.
Dragon Master landed Red Death and strode to where Channel Master stood just
moments before, looking around but finding no signs of him.
Red Death gently lay down Nemesis' unconscious body in the soft sand. Quickly
checking Nemesis' vitals and assuring herself that her sister would recover, the young
manager turned and walked past the dragon, to the huddled form of the druidic
priestess.
She squatted down beside her. "Now what do we do?" Queen Artemis closed her
eyes, rubbing her temple gingerly.
"I'm getting that headache again," she murmured to herself.
Opening her eyes, she found Dragon Master staring at her intently. "Well," she
smiled and stated as positively as she could, "let's take an inventory of where we
are." She looked around at the wooded surroundings, mentally reaching out to all
wildlife in the area, picking up their feelings, their anxieties, what ever might grab
their attention.
Nothing, that was good. "The immediate area seems to be clear of threats.
That's good."
"Good for the demons," Dragon Master grinned.
"What else."
Queen Artemis ticked off the points one by one, using her fingers to keep track.
"We are lost in shadow."
"We've lost our Shadow Walker, so we're stuck here."
"We have no ability to communicate with anyone back in Alastari, and if we're not
back before curfew I'm probably grounded."
Dragon Master's eyes widened. "Curfew! OMG! I totally forgot."
"So," Queen Artemis finished, using her thumb for the final point, "we're in a
real spot of trouble right now." Nemesis' prone form shifted uncomfortably on the
ground between them, a low moan rising from her lips. "I guess I should also say, we
need to get Nemesis some medical attention, and fast."
"There's probably more."
"Indeed," a familiar voice spoke behind them.
"You have bigger problems than that."
DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Looks like it is time for me to leave Telorinthe. It is hard to believe I started
here nearly 3 years ago, but here we are! I guess that is slow arena life, and
honestly, I do not mind it that much.
For those interested, I leave Telorinthe much like I started it, just a bit more
experienced.
11(1)-9-11-17-17-9-11 LU. The Commission tells me that I like the SS, a HI/HI
fighting rhythm with the RIP tactic. They say that I also like to learn ATT skills,
which did not surprise me, they just come so naturally. I was +2 ATT, but mode in
every other skill area. I leave with Masters in INI and ATT, and an Adv Expert in
Defense.
I was convinced that I like the LS more than the SS, but only because I did so well
with it. I think my high ATT skills made me throw lots of crits with it and fooled me
a bit. Oh well, it doesn't really matter much because I am off to retirement in
Crysalis.
I leave the throne to the strongest. I'm going to challenge the Dark Arena and see if
I can get my 5th kill before heading to the Isle. I need to pay Ori to look back and
see what the kill record is for a Duelmaster and a graduate in Telorinthe. Four feels
like a lot, but Darque tells me he has seen more. Maybe I need to get out more. Well,
now that I'm going to retire, maybe I can!

SPY REPORT
YAY! It is time for the spy report in Telorinthe! I try to tell you every cycle how
excited I get on arena day, but I do not think we have words in this common language
that let me express it properly! I will have to look to other languages and share
with you the unbridled joy I get at the arena and writing spy reports. Until then....
YAY! Okay, okay, let's get to all the great news in the arena and a recap of all the
exciting action!
Wyan was our Duelmaster and during his arena address, he told us he was going to the
Dark Arena. He wanted to try for one last kill before moving onto Crysalis and
retirement. I am sad to say that I am still constructing all the relevant histories
for this arena, so I do not presently know who holds the records as Duelmaster or a
graduate for most kills. I will look into it though! Sadly, Wyan's kills stop at 4
because Wurm Kin overpowered and killed him in the Dark Arena.
With Wyan gone, it was time to crown a new Champion for Telorinthe. Our title fight,
which we didn't know was the title fight until all the fights were finished, came down
to Pukei and Vicious Venom. Oooh, it was a father vs. daughter match up. Well, not
actually father vs. daughter. It was more like father's warrior vs. daughter's
warrior. You get what I mean . . . I hope. Okay, so Pukei, the highest-ranked Aimed
Blow in the arena, matches against Vicious Venom, the highest-ranked Wall of Steel in
the Telorinthe. It was going to be EPIC ven with the whole father-daughter fight
narrative in the background! It took 2 minutes, but Pukei is our new Duelmaster. He
is also the newest immortal from Telorinthe after receiving an invitation from the
Gladiatorial Commission to Advanced Duel.
The most avoided team for turn 178 is Shadow of Mega. They were mostly avoided by The
Red Company. The most challenged warrior this time is Abolish from Shadow of Mega.
Here is the strangest and the allure of the games. Shadow of Mega was avoided the
most, but then one of their warriors was challenged the most. The Red Company avoided
them the most, but then challenged one of Shadow's warriors and KILLS it! Yes, you
read that correctly. Our most challenged warrior for the turn was killed.
Condolences to Shadow of Mega. Now we wait for the next turn to see how they are
going to respond!
We saw a few deaths this turn, which is never fun for those doing the dying. Well, I
have never died, so I assume they do NOT enjoy it. Empire Strikes Out had an up and
down week. Agent R's crew killed an arena stand by, but then lost Jabba the Hitt to
Halftime Show. Nonsuch House sent 2 warriors off to the DA, presumably looking for new
recruits. We have already mentioned our former Duelmaster Wyan's death in the Dark
Arena, as well as our most challenged warrior, Abolish. The final death today came
via Hondo Telo Hammer's kill against Diabolique of The Red Company. Wow, I'm seeing
lots of patterns. Granted they probably do not exist and I've formulated them in my
mind to make simple the complex world all around me. But, that is a VERY DIFFERENT
spy report and for another time.
Sadly, this spy report must come to an end. I could talk for another hour or so, but
the boss frowns upon such wordiness. He says ink and parchment cost money! Well, of
course, they cost money! Everything costs money! The simple solution is to get more
money! I'm not sure how to do that because I'm a spy reporter and do not have much
money. Maybe Debby Tonte knows, she's always got a drink in her hand and I know those
cost money! Oh well, we will figure this out later. Now! Now, it is time to sign off
until next turn!
