TEAM SPOTLIGHT
"I thought it would be grander." Lady Darque pushed the hood of her cloak back
and looked up at the Riff-Raff Crew guildhouse, tsk'ing the cobwebs and dust.
"It rather looks like a haunted house. Almost like it's abandoned." She stepped
back off the porch and glanced up at 2nd and 3rd story windows, dark with their shades
closed.
Spinning on her heel, she pointed an accusing finger at Master Darque. "You let
them get away!"
"How does everything always somehow end up being my fault?" He mused, quietly,
(and to himself alone) while nodding sagely at his wife. Noting the flush in Lady
Darque's cheek that somehow made her red hair appear even more crimson, he knew this
was the only safe route.
A faint aroma of brimstone filled the air and Master Darque quietly steamed about
the unforeseen escape.
*** *** ***
"Sister!"
Queen Artemis jerked awake, her arms and legs flailing momentarily.
Dragon Master looked up, concerned. "Are you okay?" It was her watch, and she
gazed across the fire at The Huntress. The cup of tea in her hands steamed in the
pre-dark cold. Red Death lay nearby, head on her front paws, gazing back and forth at
the two, only her eyes moving.
"I saw... something." Queen Artemis rubbed her eyes and shook herself awake. "It
was Channel Master, I could hear him, almost see where he was. Some nightmare
landscape."
Nemesis walked around the campfire, stretched lazily, and squatted down, putting
her eyes at her level. "What else?"
"He's alive. He's hurt. And he's angry."
Red Death stood up, and spread her wings in an almost feline stretch, arching her
back and ending with a hot snort of almost fire. She nudged Dragon Master brusquely,
nearly knocking her into the fire.
"Somebody's coming."
DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Ah! A return to da throne! And it comes with a nice little invitation to da
immortality. I always knew I could do it. Others doubted it - some even said, "Stay
under the bridge Grogan! It is where you belong Grogan!" But, No! I knew I could do
more. I knew that the arena was where I would make my mark. Besides, there isn't
much room under that bridge and Grogan's a big troll!
So, I am off to da Isle! Others have told me that I should expect retirement at
this point. "You're a striker, Grogan. Strikers don't fight in advanced!" But what
do they know? These are da same folks who didn't think I could make it in da arena!
Look at my numbers: 11-11-19-17-7-12-7. Aren't those a thing of beauty? And maybe
da Boss wants a big troll on da Isle? Maybe he is impressed with a Troll dat has 17
parry skills! Ok, so you might be thinkin', 17 parry skills on da striker? I know,
that isn't really an ideal favorite learn. And to make it worse, I'm probably still 4
skills away from even getting an expert rating in it. But it makes me unique, right?
Personally, I think da commission is blackballing me. They don't want a big troll to
show up all their pretty little people. After all, who is it dat said the war flail
was my favorite weapon? I certainly didn't! I've never picked one up in my life!
"Give me a good broadsword!" I always say! And Very low/Very Low as a favorite
rhythm? Yo! Commission! I'm da striker! Ever heard of 10-10-D??? These folks
want me to run 1-1-P! So for all da aspiring little (or big!) trolls out der - don't
let "them" tell you what to do! If I had, do you really think I'd have 21 arena wins
and a spot in da immortality?!
And now a little note for da spymaster and Yellowpress writer Ari Starbloomers.
Nonsuch House has several graduates as Rook has recently shared. Da previous great
ones from da House are: Steel Muse (ST), Cornelius (WS), Whitey d'Eagle (L), and Rook
(PS). Plus, now, me, of course, making it five.
As for da defense of my throne - I really don't see a bad match up down there.
Bashers and slashers? A good striker that isn't paying attention to the commission
should get the jump. The Aimers fit the same category, although their potential
defense and riposte can be worrisome. But hit the little guys once and it is often
over. Scum? I've taken those down many times. They seem to have trouble parrying
things coming down from over their heads. I'm something like 5-1 against the pretty-
record scum. So none of them are bad matchups, but presumably they are all highly
ranked for a reason. I'll leave this one up to fate. Who wants it? Come and get
your shot at da throne! I'm not giving it up willingly on my way to da Immortlaity!

SPY REPORT
It is great to see each of you back with us for another exciting turn of events in
Telorinthe. As you can imagine, we had a wonderful turn of the gladiatorial games.
It is always wonderful on fight day! The hustle and bustle in and around the arena.
The smells from the food vendors are amazing. The smells from the gladiator pits are
. . . not so amazing, but still part of the magic atmosphere in the arena. Okay, I've
set the scene, now let's take a look at what happened today for turn 188 in
Telorinthe!
It was a familiar case of the Duelmaster leaving for the Isle, so we had to get a new
Duelmaster. Grogan Da Troll fought Burger King, which could have given us a new
Duelmaster. But, it did not. Burger King lost and Grogan leaves for the Isle on an
upbeat note with another win to his record. Now, we shift to recognition points to
determine the Duelmaster. For that, we find our title match comes down to arena
veteran Borys against the relatively young gladiator, Toshi Arito. Toshi challenged
Borys and walks away with enough recognition points to be our new Duelmaster.
Congrats to Toshi Arito, who is managed by Floyd.
The most avoided team today is The Dragons. General Bashur's crew, Super Brash
Brothers, looks like it is running away anytime Dragonmaster and her gladiators show
up on the sands. The brash ones have also yet to avenge that death The Dragons posted
to them back on turn 186. With all the avoids, it looks as if that is going to be a
call unanswered! The most challenged warrior today turned out to be Nothingburger.
Nothing to see here, but Sacha challenged Nothingburger. It took 4 minutes, but
Nothingburger was victorious over his challenger.
There was some movement in the team rankings as we got a new #1. Sorcerer Kings fall
out of favor with a 1-4 effort. They even lost a warrior this turn. In the meantime,
The Dragons took a 4-1 turn into the top spot. House of Fur moves into 2nd place.
Though they have the same 11-4 three-turn record, they lack The Dragons 2 kills. Kame
House also moves into the top 5 into the 3rd spot. Ironskull Orcs at 4th are the only
top 5 team to stay put. NFL Network finishes up the top teams. Super Brash Brothers
are on the outside looking in, but will their 3 kills play a part in the rankings next
cycle?
No new graduations this turn. Grogan and Antonio leave us for the Isle of the Eye.
From my records, we have many that are on the cusp of being invited to immortality.
Sadly, I can only track their arena records and the accumulated political points. It
will ultimately be their skill that gets them invited and only the Commission can
judge that area. We did have 2 deaths this turn with Super Brash Brothers committing
both kills. The warriors were young, so it is a common thing. We will wait and see
how each team proceeds with the potential feuds. Gen. Bashur has been known to lay
low in another arena when he kills. Will he do the same here?
Dot the "i" and cross the "t" and this spy report is almost finished! I will hopefully
see all of you back next turn. Our young Duelmaster has the difficult task of
defending the throne next turn against a veteran group of Challenger Champions. Can
he hold on? Will fortunes improve for the teams that appear to be slipping in the
