TEAM SPOTLIGHT
LETTER FROM LAPUR T-933
Lapur Arena DM 29 is quite a cozy place these days with 7 active stables; although,
not all of them are running 5 warriors at the present time!
All you lurkers can look online and figure out which stables are not running with a
full drawer of knives, but Lapur is still an arena that should see renewed interest
and participation in the coming months!
Hammer got so busy with tying up the loose ends of hosting the Kaltos Kaos in DM 5
that he did not send in a replacement roll up for 5 Card Draw, but as I pointed out in
my previous letter, the death of One Eyed Jack by that notorious NPC Character named
Dangerous Criminal, has sealed the fate of our stable regarding our future here in the
Lapur Arena!
Rumor even has it that Hammer might have the replacement fight in the April Mailer
Rookies Tourney, but that is merely conjecture at the present time!
That just leaves us four originals to hold the fort so-to-speak for our 5 Card Draw
stable!
Things are much the same in Lapur as they are in Noblish Island these days!
Consortium has a warrior on the DM 29 Throne, managed by The Bloke, as he does over in
DM 93 with Azalea on the DM 93 Throne, managed by Rose of Sharon, but that is what
makes things all the more interesting over here in Lapur Arena!
The Bloke is quite talkative in the P-ads, as are the warriors he manages, so any of
you New Players who are looking for a future Home Arena, should consider moving over
to the DM 29 Lapur Arena!
I am still stuck in the Challenger Initiates rankings, but my other teammates are
ironically the only 3 warriors who are listed in the DM 29 Adepts rankings at the
present time!
Queen Of Clubs leads the way with 52, after winning her battle against Metellus of
Equestors, who she sent screaming to the Infirmary!
Jack Of Diamonds is listed next in the DM 29 Adepts rankings with 47, after he made
the Captured Orc go frantic to end their battle with a victory!
Queen Of Hearts rounds out the DM 29 Adepts rankings with 36, after she gravely
injured Common Riverrat with her Great Axe, although he did survive the experience
without going to the Infirmary!
Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
I shocked Convicted Thief, as well as the crowd, with my first DM 29 victory in the
Lapur Arena!
I know! I know!
Convicted Thief is an NPC Character, as are Captured Orc and Common Riverrat, but a
victory is a victory, especially these days!
5 Card Draw went 4-0-0 on T-933 and my record is now 4-9-0, but you better hurry on
over to Lapur Arena in DM 29 if you want a shot at some possible easy wins and skill
collections, before Hammer replaces our 5 Card Draw stable with a future DM 93 stable!

STRIKER SURPRISE
Consortium did a fine job providing The Weapons Critical List in his article
'Discovering Favorite Weapons b" The Consortium Way' last cycle!
Consortium stated in his article that: The more crits per swing, the more likely you
have found a favorite weapon. (Bear in mind that a favorite weapon is not the ONLY
reason one crits more. Factors like experience, attack skill quantity, strategy
levels, etc., also come into play.) Even if it is not the fave, it is certainly a
better performing weapon, and ought to be considered for a lot of use. It is thought
that if a weapon is performing well, the favorite weapon is probably that weapon, or
one of a very similar type.
I just had a Striker named Blue Dragon Blade receive his graduation notice in DM 45
and I was convinced that I had found his favorite weapon during the course of his
career.
His most recent fight against an Aimer on T-445 had him armed with the Scimitar, which
I was convinced was his favorite weapon!
During the first minute Blue Dragon Blade struck using his Scimitar, lunged forward
wielding his Scimitar, leaped into the air taking a furious slash with his Scimitar
[crit], made a brilliant twisting thrust with his Scimitar [crit], slashed with his
Scimitar, lunged with his Scimitar, slashed an arcing attack with his Scimitar, his
Scimitar lunges with awesome cutting power [crit], makes a brilliant twisting thrust
with his Scimitar [crit] and then he twisted into a tremendous cutting attack with his
Scimitar! [crit].
Blue Dragon Blade was winning the duel; so, in minute two, he attacks, his Scimitar
wielded with malevolence! [crit] followed by strikes [exhausted himself], slashes an
arcing attack, strikes, strikes, lunges and strikes using his Scimitar!
By this time, Blue Dragon Blade was tired and barely able to defend himself!
In minute 3, my Striker was winning, but he had exhausted himself and crumpled to the
sands, without being able to make an attack with his Scimitar again!
Blue Dragon Blade has achieved a Master rating in Initiative, an Advanced Expert
rating in Riposte, an Advanced Expert rating in Attack and a Master rating in
Decisiveness; as a 9-6-13-17-15-13-11 Striker with a current 17-13-1, 92 record
according to his graduation notice!
He has a fighting rhythm which favors a Moderate Offensive Effort and a Very Low
Activity Level. He shows an innate ability to use the Decisive Tactic to good effect
and he is aggressive by nature and favors Initiative Routines!
I was expecting to run this Striker in ADM, but I got an unexpected graduation Striker
Surprise!
Blue Dragon Blade will probably retire!
His Favorite Weapon?
Small Shield.
Go Figure!

I have been asked about places you can sail to from Noblish Island. As in ports
on the Trier Sea which have arenas. In passing, I will just mention that the Trier is
not a salt-water sea, more of a fresh water lake like Lake Michigan.
The northern most arena port on this coast is Snowbound, DM 50, a slow-speed
arena. As the name suggests, it snows a lot and there are glaciers in the immediate
vicinity. I have a team there and have found it to be a pleasant place if you keep
warm enough.
South of that the map will show you Kurukar, a Karnhorn city, DM 64, which has a
CLOSED arena. You can't play there. Besides the ruler of the town and province is
seriously insane and a maniacal cultist. You wouldn't or shouldn't WANT to settle
there.
On down the coast is North Fork, DM 47, another slow arena but generally bustling
and fun. Periodically they have the Turf War contest.
Behind Noblish Island, farther out in the lake, is the island of Aradi. It's
about the same size as Noblish, but less rainy.
Going back to the coast south and west from North Fork is the Karnhorn city of
Veastian, DM 43, another small quiet place.
Then into the Andorian League with DM 41, Kati-Tei, and DM 63 Amen-Tei.
South again, along the coast of the Aruaki Clanholds, to Point, DM 27, another
CLOSED arena that faces the island of Iaye, DM 30, across a fairly narrow strait
filled with the ruins of the ancient drowned city of Krael.
South again, and east are the Aruaki cities of Ti, DM 26, closed and mostly
abandoned, and Zorpunt, DM 24, small but still active. And Tobir, DM 14, also Aruaki.
I've got teams in most of the arenas mentioned here, and there's no place so rough
that I'd warn new managers away from. The next town after Tobir, and it isn't close,
is Ardivent, DM 46, still Andorian. After that, we're looking at Delarquan arenas:
Valamantis, DM 62, and Osksi, DM 3 on the point facing Ardivent. In the bay between
those two points are the islands of Kaltos, DM5, Transel, DM 6, Sunset, DM 21, and
Kolact, DM 10. south of Osksi on the coast are Tricorus, DM 51, and Bonsur, DM 7,
plus the island of Illis, DM 59 (slow). At this point you run out of Alastari, hit
the Twisted Lands, turn sharply west, and encounter Lirith Kai and the arena city of
Dal Shang, DM 65.
As I think I said above, I have teams in most of the arenas mentioned here and
have found them to be decent places. Mostly you'll find nobody talking in the
personals but me, and sometimes the Consortium.
Never hesitate to ask me questions, I'll see them sooner or later.

BB BACHELOR AGAIN
When your spouse leaves you home alone, you become a temporary bachelor. A
"bachelor again", even. Such is my life as I write these words. Fortunately, I have
a team, that while not the best team I've seen by a long margin, at least provides
entertainment and hopes that I can overcome the evil Consortium machine.
The first warrior came to me as 5-13-17-9-3-10-13. With the high size and low
strength and will, you're absolutely looking at an offensive warrior that can conserve
endurance. Usually that means striker. Aimed Blow is another option, but aimed blows
make better hybrids than pure offensives. So Striker it is. 9 will is a must on this
one. You need all the endurance you can get. I'm adding the rest to strength and wit.
Because of my longer term goals, I am going to sacrifice strength for wit. My normal
recommendation would probably be to do 9 strength and 13 wit. I'm going against that
recommendation, probably because I'm so LONELY that I do crazy things. 7-13-17-15-9-
10-13 ST
Next up, I have to deal with COOKING. What can I make from these ingredients:
16-9-7-12-4-9-13. Another very low will. But this one has smaller size and lots of
strength. Any of the endurance conserving styles could be used and the strength can
be for damage on an offensive or parry and carry on a hybrid. I'd usually stick with
the endurance conserving styles (ST, PS, PR, TP, AB). 17-10-7-17-7-9-17 is a
fantastic design for AB (and can be used for the PS, PR, or TP as well). For a ST,
I'd do 17-9-7-17-9-10-11 with two extra points for speed or deftness. I don't hate
this as a basher, either. I went with a more physical warrior, 17-15-7-17-7-9-13 and
chose PR for the style. It will be wearing heavy armor and running a moderate
strategy.
My wife will be back in a few days, so this time I don't have to do the LAUNDRY.
What does that laundry look like? It started out 13-5-13-7-9-14-10. High speed, low
con, medium high size. Another offensive. The wit leaves much to be desired, but I
can get to the minimum 11. 15-5-13-11-15-14-11 BA isn't the worst specimen -- and
what I chose. Another option on warriors like this is to make a total parry and focus
on str/con/wil. Another option is to go with the highest skill styles, lunger/wall of
steel. This one could be a 13-5-13-13-15-14-11 LU. It has the best lunging weapon
available and other than the low con looks ok. (Because of that low con, I fight it
10-10 in minute 1 as a lunger)
As the transportation to and from the airport, I'm also an AIRPORT TAXI. 11-12-
10-12-9-7-9. This looks like a hybrid to me. I'm going with lunger, because they
have the most skills and this one needs a bit of help. The clear points to add for a
lunger are 6 to will, 2 to deftness, and 1 to wit. That puts the warrior at 11-12-10-
13-15-7-11 with 5 discretionary points. The first 4 go to either strength or wit. I
went strength for endurance and damage. Wit is where most people add those points.
The final point could be strength or con. I chose con and make a 15-13-10-13-15-7-11
lunger that will be wearing armor.
Finally, I'm responsible for all the CLEANING. 3-10-11-14-12-9-11. Yuck and
Yuck. As I look at the design I chose, I'm actually questioning it. I went 9-12-11-
17-15-9-11. Why didn't I take the 17 will and leave con at 10?!? I'm not exactly
sure. That seems like the obvious design. Oh well, I guess I have more physicals.
Style? Wall of Steel, which gives me 5 styles.
Good luck to me! I'm going to need it! -- Assur
DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Yup. Me again. I drew M. Chardinee and made quick work of the stand-in. I accept this
honor as Duelmaster of this fine city, I will add this to my resume so I can go on to
bigger and better things.
Challenge me and become Duelmaster.
Challenge me and die.
Your choice.

SPY REPORT
Well, what are you looking at, NOBLISH ISLAND? Ain't you never seen Snide
Clemens before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. DARKATHIAS' DEMONS turned their
4-1-0 turn into a 4th place rank in the listings this turn. Any better than this,
and you get put on hit lists. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see MAKKEH
DIFFERENT win a fight and gain 16 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, MAKKEH DIFFERENT beat
INTERRUPTIONS and INTERRUPTIONS lost 13 points. You're breakin' my heart. Our
Duelmaster has lost, folks, lost to KUNG-FU MASTER, BUT AZALEA is still the
Duelmaster because it has the most recognition points! Kickbacks and bribes,
kickbacks and bribes, how else do you think some of these guys win their fights?
Skill? Ha!
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. BB BIG PROJECTS, I suppose you'll be glad to know you
were this turn's most avoided team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And
it looks like SHRUBS avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be
losers, if you ask me. Hmph.
Some people like volunteer work in the hospitals. I volunteer for NOBLISH
ISLAND's morgue. More variety. Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess what
brave team is developing these kinds of weapons?
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for
an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Just wait 'till next time I show up
here, I won't be so nice! So nyaaah! I see the crowds are getting restless, I must
leave now-- Snide Clemens
