REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
What a day! Forty-one fights, it was almost like the Good Old Days. Of course,
the Mimes were out in force, which weakens that. Instead of eighty-two warriors, we
had seventy-seven and five Mimes. But it still wasn't bad. The Mimes can put on a
good show if they try. Nobody died that I noticed. Remember, people, if you want
your death to make a splash, you have to MAKE a splash. Drama, that's the name of
the game. Twelve challenges today, coulda used more, but one was TV, which always
impresses the fans. The longest fight was six minutes. Sounds good to me: long
enough for people to admire the action, but not so long they get bored. Can't have
the fans getting bored.
In the official notes, I forget who made 'em, one of the golems, it says that
Military Mayhem avoided the Tuft Tuggers. Okay. Didn't want personals written to
'em, hey? To each their own. And there is a suggestion--I don't know why these
golems can't speak plainly, trying to be cute, I suppose--that Gar & Brill got the
most challenges. I assure you, Gar & Brill is a highly challenged warrior, sometimes
even challenged by the effort of walking out onto the sands. And gods forbid anyone
should ask him to chew gum at the same time!
Some quick notes on the fights themselves:
GAZELLE (56-3701) (19-16-0,30) of REDHORSE fought LAKE SAILOR (101-2) (0-0-0,30)
of the College of Mimes. GAZELLE viciously subdued LAKE SAILOR in a 2 minute bloody
match. The stewards wouldn't let the Lake Sailor carry his belaying pin, and he
blames his loss on this.
JOHN LONGSHORE (11-4197) (23-29-0,55) of TUFT TUGGERS fought BLACK EYE (60-6163)
(29-19-0,85) of JOKA MASHER! JOHN LONGSHORE was viciously subdued by BLACK EYE in a
crowd pleasing 4 minute duel. And now John's eyes are black. Or maybe blue?
BRIARTHORN (12-5671) (17-14-1,62) of DARKMOON fought TEDDY RUXPIN (11-6399) (23-
15-1,85) of LORDS OF CHAOS. BRIARTHORN lost to TEDDY RUXPIN in a crowd pleasing 3
minute brutal duel. Trust a Chaos Lord to be brutal. They aren't really chaotic,
you know, because TRUE chaos would require them to sometimes be nice, not all chaotic
chances are bad.
CROOKED HOOF (56-3493) (27-16-0,74) of REDHORSE fought MEAN SPIRIT (101-5) (0-0-
0,70) of the College of Mimes. CROOKED HOOF was overpowered by MEAN SPIRIT in a 1
minute one-sided fight. Very mean, that Spirit. The fans cheering wildly at the end
of this match were all standbys from various arenas here on the Isle. They like to
see one of their own win.
MOOSE (56-3459) (16-20-0,50) of REDHORSE fought CIARAN (1-7176) (20-15-1,63) of
MANNEQUIN'S BEST. MOOSE was overcome by CIARAN in a 2 minute duel. After all,
Ciaran was one of the BEST.
BLIND ILLUSION (22-6379) (15-12-1,60) of MEDIEVAL CHAOS fought EM (15-3737) (22-
34-0,66) of LORDS OF DARKNESS. BLIND ILLUSION was viciously subdued by EM in a crowd
pleasing 4 minute brutal bout. Next time, get a sighted illusion. Better odds, even
though this fight was fought inside a veil of darkness. (Not dark from the stands,
but the stewards say that on the sands, it was inky.)
TYMARIS RAVENSWOOD (53-5637) (23-29-0,66) of PUERCO'S PINATA fought BROKEN TOE
(56-3683) (23-40-1,85) of REDHORSE. TYMARIS RAVENSWOOD demolished BROKEN TOE in a
popular 1 minute one-sided duel. I wouldn't want to be a pinata, all the time
getting hit by kids with sticks, and the moms standing around to make sure nobody
beats up their little thugs. The pinata must love a chance to hit back.
ING (41-3532) (16-13-1,82) of UNEARTHLY PIMPS fought SKI MASK (58-5869) (43-74-
0,67) of CIRQUE DU MASQUES. ING was demolished by SKI MASK in a 1 minute mismatched
match. It will be interesting to hear the Duck on the concept of an unearthly pim.
MABON (82-10314) (0-6-0,15) of THE SABBATS fought AGLIBOL (12-5848) (16-7-0,42)
of DARKMOON. MABON was devastated by AGLIBOL in a popular 1 minute uneven bout.
Very mythic, this fight.
SPECTRUM (40-1666) (18-16-4,71) of AS FAR AS SIAM fought AVALYNE WHYTE (11-3270)
(19-17-1,87) of TUFT TUGGERS. SPECTRUM was devastated by AVALYNE WHYTE in a 1 minute
one-sided battle. Yes... I suppose that makes sense. White light versus the
spectrum, and if the light is stronger, well, there you are. But Avalyne better
watch out for prisms.
QUIFF (10-4779) (18-9-0,94) of QUBIT fought PLACES THE LOTION... (98-909) (12-
13-5,87) of ARCANE BEACH DAY. QUIFF was bested by PLACES THE LOTION... in a popular
3 minute duel. Quiff could NOT figure out where to put that lotion.
KI (31-165) (28-34-1,95) of AVENGERS fought ZLATINA ANGUELOVA (11-4856) (24-23-
1,72) of TUFT TUGGERS. KI was narrowly defeated by ZLATINA ANGUELOVA in an action
packed 3 minute brutal bout. A narrow defeat. These puzzle me. I could see that it
was a close match. But where, exactly, does the "narrow" part come in?
HARV (82-20046) (14-5-1,104) of 4-LETTER NAMES fought NINJA FERD (101-30) (0-0-
0,130) of the College of Mimes. HARV overpowered NINJA FERD in a popular 1 minute
brutal one-sided match. This will make Ninja Ferd really wrothy, so don't get too
close to him in the bars tonight.
SMELLY TOES (82-17409) (16-8-0,106) of HYBRIDS V fought KATRINA (101-9) (0-0-
0,170) of the College of Mimes. SMELLY TOES was vanquished by KATRINA in a 1 minute
one-sided fray. Katrina has a real "thing" about stinky feet.
RUTHLESS (15-4591) (24-14-0,117) of TRIPLE CROWN fought VALLISNERIA (30-3226)
(21-17-1,102) of THE GREENHOUSE. RUTHLESS was overpowered by VALLISNERIA in a 1
minute one-sided fight. Now, if it had been a race, the story would have been
different.
Our longest fight: RIFT (12-3922) (27-18-1,130) of SPIRITUAL GIFT fought MR.
POTATO HEAD (20-442) (27-22-0,133) of LORDS OF CHAOS. RIFT was beaten by MR. POTATO
HEAD in an action packed 6 minute competition. The trouble with ol' Spud, he doesn't
care about getting his lumps, he's lumpy to begin with. So he just wades in and
starts mashing.
MOUNTAIN GOAT (56-3700) (26-33-3,114) of REDHORSE fought MAN O' WAR (15-4517)
(33-18-1,145) of TRIPLE CROWN. MOUNTAIN GOAT was handily defeated by MAN O' WAR in a
1 minute uneven bout. The "handy" in this fight is a joke, since we've got a goat
and a horse on the sands. But everybody knows that a horse can out-trample a goat,
if he doesn't get butted first.
KOOKABURRA (33-4151) (60-78-2,146) of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES fought QUEEN AMAZONIA
(12-4796) (33-40-1,139) of DARKMOON. KOOKABURRA was overpowered by QUEEN AMAZONIA in
an exciting 1 minute uneven match. Of course. Queens always win. It's in their job
description.
BATTLESTONE (66-2980) (32-25-0,171) of FRAG 'EM ALL! fought BAYLEFYRE (25-4373)
(15-3-0,102) of BRETHREN OF SIN. BATTLESTONE overpowered BAYLEFYRE in a popular 1
minute uneven fight. A battle of the bees! Listen to 'em buzz.
QUONSET (10-4990) (40-27-0,172) of QUBIT fought TOOFLESS (2-5103) (44-10-0,161)
of GLORY BOUND TROLLS. QUONSET savagely defeated TOOFLESS in a popular 3 minute
gruesome fight. Will somebody PLEASE get that troll a tooth?
TICKLES (9-3486) (54-76-1,155) of MY PETS fought SIR OCCO (10-5079) (31-20-
0,165) of SIR AGLIO. TICKLES handily defeated SIR OCCO in a 1 minute one-sided
contest. And very undignified it was, too.
2 PHAT (72-5064) (29-13-1,188) of VERMIN fought BATTLING BOB (101-26) (0-0-
0,200) of the College of Mimes. 2 PHAT was beaten by BATTLING BOB in an action
packed 1 minute fray. What can I say? All the standbys ate Wheaties for breakfast
today, and it DOES work.
CREDIT LINE (82-1366) (10-23-0,192) of WOMEN LOVE ME FOR MY fought ARAC IRONFIST
(67-1944) (28-17-0,187) of RAZOR GRACE. CREDIT LINE overpowered ARAC IRONFIST in an
exciting 1 minute uneven fight. They do say that you can solve a lot of problems by
throwing money at them.
FEAR (82-10416) (27-42-1,203) of 4-LETTER ANXIETY fought DELICE THE RED (56-
3401) (59-64-3,200) of BAD APPLES. FEAR was overpowered by DELICE THE RED in a 1
minute mismatched conflict. Ah, the redhead knows no fear, eh?
SPAZZ (33-6207) (52-49-0,189) of SNOTZI'S II fought R IS FOR REPUGNANT (99-1155)
(18-11-4,164) of GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME. SPAZZ was demolished by R IS FOR REPUGNANT in
an exciting 1 minute one-sided bout. I found this whole match repugnant for some
reason. Maybe it was because I laughed at the wrong moment and got beer up my nose.
LONE WOLF (31-162) (31-33-1,183) of AVENGERS fought MOD COD (55-2638) (64-87-
3,202) of RHYME TYME. LONE WOLF was bested by MOD COD in an exciting 1 minute fight.
Flattened by a fish, cudgeled by a cod, the ignominy!
TALON (18-7782) (33-12-1,187) of GET OUTTA MY WAY fought KAIDEN (35-3108) (96-
92-2,193) of VIOLENT FEMS. TALON was viciously subdued by KAIDEN in a crowd pleasing
2 minute bloody bout. Take note, gladiators, Kaiden really IS a violent fem, though
not terribly fatale.
HALLIE O'DENE (58-6018) (59-77-0,202) of CIRQUE DU MASQUES fought HEART (97-
1096) (18-19-4,160) of ORGANS ON THE SAND. HALLIE O'DENE was overpowered by HEART in
a crowd pleasing 1 minute one-sided duel. You've heard people say that "so-and-so is
all heart"? This is that kind of deal, and some people are just softies when it
comes to heart.

(20-21-0,78) of KNOT WHOLE. Up 4. NUTCRACKER devastated PROWESS in a crowd pleasing
1 minute one-sided Challenge battle. A hint, Prowess, don't wear a hazelnut helmet
when up against a nutcracker.
SLIPPERY NIPPLE (59-2323) (18-4-1,82) of HANGOVERS challenged GATEWAY (82-15631)
(14-3-0,84) of ATTACK OF THE CLONES. Up 2. SLIPPERY NIPPLE was overpowered by
GATEWAY in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge match. I had a hangover once, and I'm glad
to see this one bite the dust. You ever think about that phrase? If you keep your
mouth shut as you fall, you wouldn't get it full of dust. Remember that.
SEGALLION SUNDANCER (11-4600) (21-21-1,66) of TUFT TUGGERS challenged CARRIE
NATION (64-4054) (51-87-0,61) of REFORMERS. Down 5. SEGALLION SUNDANCER narrowly
defeated CARRIE NATION in a 1 minute Challenge melee. Narrow again! It must be
Segallion who's the narrow one, because we all know Carrie is, in all senses, a
broad.
BLACK JACK SHELACK (47-4850) (19-13-1,74) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged FRED (65-
5333) (27-11-0,83) of MYSTERY MACHINE. Up 9. BLACK JACK SHELACK was defeated by
FRED in a 3 minute Challenge fight. In fact, Jack got a shellacking. I'm sure he
appreciated it.
ACE BAILEY (47-4948) (14-19-0,58) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged HUMMINGBIRD (56-
3475) (23-25-0,63) of REDHORSE. Up 5. ACE BAILEY narrowly defeated HUMMINGBIRD in a
2 minute gruesome Challenge duel. Again with the narrow! And I would think going
after a hummingbird would require a broad approach. All that nervous darting around.
EVE DREWSHADOW (53-6246) (20-17-0,40) of PUERCO'S PINATA challenged GAR & BRILL
(38-4252) (28-50-0,64) of JUST BECAUSE. Up 24. EVE DREWSHADOW won victory over GAR

see the Gar taken to the cleaners, because it was filthy.

the commission warriors? Are they on drugs now? Here's a sampling of last turn's
fights:
1. Ryrelee, with 50% less arena fights, kills Quonset in one minute.
2. Rippy Brickboy, a commission warrior P-strike, devastates 2 Phat, a 29-12-1
Lunger.
3. Anijia Alara challenges and kills Prowess in two minutes.
4. Hungry Harold, a commission warrior Waste, clobbers Spazz, a maxed basher
training stats, in one minute and learns four skills.
Momma said there'd be days like this! Highlight of my last turn: Ditch Rat, a maxed
basher training stats that does great damage, did manage to beat Sharon Shew, a
commission warrior basher, in just under three minutes. I wouldn't bet on repeating

Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to
address and clarify.
1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection.
Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena
(except for arena 82, I believe).
2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there
be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules
(i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team).
3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the
Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the
match!
4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6
months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used
within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on
any warrior regardless of FE.
