The cities of Kaltos and Veastian sent in the most warriors: 3
The Spy Master was Baeltra
REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Yes, well, you don't get "this humble servant, Novgorodny Vir." You owe me for
that.
However, he did make some notes. Here's the meat from them:
Drandus De'vir may, or then again may not, have gotten the greatest increase in
recognition at 34 points.
Lords of Valhalla were avoided the most, and The Stormguards did most of the
avoiding.
Buck is going to open a fast food joint, featuring horse meat, or perhaps
delivering on horseback, I'm not sure which.
Thirty-one fights, which is very good, even though there were four standbys
involved. Only four challenges, but no deaths.
So, let's take a look at the fights, those of them that we can bear to look at,
anyway.
VAXTON (17-2689) (19-27-0,57) of STEEL WOLVES fought BRICK WALL (1-7478) (36-40-
0,66) of HOMICIDAL MANIACS. VAXTON was outlasted by BRICK WALL in an exciting 7
minute brutal struggle. There are times when I don't understand the criteria for
describing a fight as "exciting." This is a clear example of "I don't understand
it." Exciting, watching a fool warrior beating his head against a brick wall?
PINE LEAF (24-4580) (30-45-0,57) of KRILL CAVALRY fought BLOOD PIE (96-1918) (9-
5-5,18) of WHY SELL THIS?. PINE LEAF demolished BLOOD PIE in a 1 minute uneven
contest. Of course, once the encounter was over, she threw it up again, so does it
count as truly demolished?
MOUNTAIN GOAT (56-3700) (45-61-3,69) of REDHORSE fought FAT BACK (96-1610) (19-
18-4,78) of KILLING ME SOFTLY. MOUNTAIN GOAT was beaten by FAT BACK in a popular 3
minute gruesome bout. Gruesome doesn't even begin to cover this. At least with mud
wrestling, you've got dames.
UNZOE THE SHAMAN (31-4940) (14-4-0,64) of THE STORMGUARDS fought SCRAPPLE (97-
1961) (8-6-3,27) of WHY SELL THIS? UNZOE THE SHAMAN overpowered SCRAPPLE in a 2
minute gory one-sided match. And the word is that Unzoe overpowered it with strong-
flavored honey, and, of course, butter. No, wait, that's just fried grits. Well,
okay, with cheese, then. A good sharp cheddar will do wonders, so long as there
aren't any mushrooms in the scrapple.
REZOS THE THRACIAN (31-4993) (20-12-0,72) of OVERLORDS fought HEAD CHEESE (96-
1920) (11-3-3,45) of WHY SELL THIS?. REZOS THE THRACIAN overpowered HEAD CHEESE in a
popular 3 minute uneven duel. Those Thracians... they'll eat anything. This
probably sounded like home cooking to Rezos.
BARTOFELES (31-5173) (17-13-2,66) of THE STORMGUARDS fought KALEN (12-6418) (20-
11-1,72) of STEEL THUNDER. BARTOFELES was viciously subdued by KALEN in an exciting
9 minute gory duel. Now, I'd've thought these guys would be natural allies, what
with the common "storm" theme. Just goes to show, eh?
JARL FORKBEARD (31-5280) (25-8-1,44) of THE STORMGUARDS fought SNIPPER (66-3518)
(25-21-0,84) of WHIPPERSNAPPERS. JARL FORKBEARD slimly lost to SNIPPER in an action
packed 3 minute brutal bout. So, was the beard snipped? Or were those scattered
curls of hair something else entirely? Inquiring minds want to know!
PREMYSL OTOKAR (31-3306) (16-17-0,96) of THE STORMGUARDS fought HARLEY THE
CADAVER (18-5366) (21-36-3,55) of STREET PIZZA. PREMYSL OTOKAR savagely defeated
HARLEY THE CADAVER in an exciting 5 minute melee. Sorry, Otokar, but five minutes of
hacking up a cadaver doesn't excite me.
YOU'VE GOT SEATTLE (82-31563) (24-18-1,96) of IT'S THE SAME MOVIE! fought
ZARENDARGAR (31-4888) (21-23-2,88) of OVERLORDS. YOU'VE GOT SEATTLE defeated
ZARENDARGAR in a popular 1 minute gory duel. Being in possession of seattle must
make a person frantic, hmm? A lot of violence there.
PORK ROLL (97-1634) (19-18-5,92) of KILLING ME SOFTER fought FAST-FINGERS FRED
(101-7) (0-0-0,110) of the Louts Local 101. PORK ROLL was defeated by FAST-FINGERS
FRED in an action packed 4 minute brutal fight. Actually, appearances to the
contrary not withstanding, Fred is very fond of pork rolls.
OBSIDIAN GOLEM (32-3975) (25-22-1,98) of THE STORMLORDS fought BROKEN TOE (56-
3683) (45-65-1,90) of REDHORSE. OBSIDIAN GOLEM unbelievably bested BROKEN TOE in an
exciting 2 minute bout. What is there not to believe? Toe, by the way, is now to be
called Many Broken Toes.
GAR & BRILL (38-4252) (52-73-0,143) of JUST BECAUSE fought O-GON-CHO (32-3977)
(16-7-1,125) of THE STORMLORDS. GAR & BRILL handily defeated O-GON-CHO in a 1 minute
uneven duel. What, a mere hundred or so more fights, and G&B wins? Outrageous!
MISCHIEVOUS IMP (1-7627) (28-14-3,102) of SWEORDMASTERS fought SENSOO O SURU
(32-3979) (26-19-0,97) of THE STORMLORDS. MISCHIEVOUS IMP was narrowly defeated by
SENSOO O SURU in an exciting 14 minute duel. Good work, Sensoo. We all know those
imps are tricky. And a salute to your endurance.
D'AUBUSSON (31-3387) (18-11-1,160) of THE STORMGUARDS fought HUMMINGBIRD (56-
3475) (43-52-0,130) of REDHORSE. D'AUBUSSON was devastated by HUMMINGBIRD in a 1
minute one-sided contest. Sounds like some kind of a bird thing all around here?
Or, no, it's Audubon that's the bird thing. Abusson's a rug.
ULATH THALESIA (31-3125) (25-12-1,156) of THE STORMGUARDS fought REDDI WHIP (97-
1636) (22-15-7,152) of KILLING ME SOFTER. ULATH THALESIA was beaten by REDDI WHIP in
a popular 3 minute bloody match. To drown in whipped cream, what a horrid fate! And
yet... there's a strange fascination to it.
LINI DAWNWIND (11-5865) (29-28-1,154) of KRILL CAVALRY fought KONGOL (7-4524)
(48-48-2,134) of BLADES OF ICE. LINI DAWNWIND was beaten by KONGOL in an exciting 1
minute match. Kongol was, no doubt, making use of his greater experience and the
rigors of the season that must be strengthening his blade.
AEDON (7-4295) (52-48-1,162) of BLADES OF ICE fought SEPTOR (31-3059) (17-13-
1,165) of THE STORMGUARDS. AEDON unbelievably bested SEPTOR in a popular 4 minute
brawl. The things that the Recording Steward finds difficult to believe never cease
to astonish me, which is odd when you come to think about it. After all these years,
I should be used to such hyperbole.
MOOSE (56-3459) (37-46-0,192) of REDHORSE fought REDEMPTION (4-4868) (50-34-
2,163) of BLADES OF MIST. MOOSE was overcome by REDEMPTION in a crowd pleasing 1
minute bout. So, does this mean that Moose was redeemed, or failed to be redeemed?
Will we ever know, will MOOSE ever know? Or do we just wonder through eternity?
ODYSSEUS (31-4637) (23-23-1,205) of OVERLORDS fought CROOKED HOOF (56-3493) (50-
40-0,190) of REDHORSE. ODYSSEUS was overpowered by CROOKED HOOF in a crowd pleasing
1 minute one-sided duel. The curse of the old snorts, but... this IS Home Guard.
KORAF (20-882) (22-27-2,202) of OVERLORDS fought DRANDUS DE'VIR (71-4909) (26-
17-0,154) of REALMS TUFTS. KORAF was devastated by DRANDUS DE'VIR in a 2 minute
bloody mismatched bout. This was Drandus the probably-most-rapidly-advancing here,
remember. Which I *think* means it was a tough fight, mismatch or no.
UTU (31-537) (27-20-2,293) of THE STORMGUARDS fought ARENAMASTER AZEEM (101-28)
(0-0-0,200) of the Louts Local 101. UTU was handily defeated by ARENAMASTER AZEEM in
a 1 minute one-sided contest. Well, naturally. It's what arenamasters do.
CUMHAL BAISCNE (20-386) (39-39-1,326) of OVERLORDS fought HALLIE O'DENE (58-
6018) (81-102-0,193) of CIRQUE DU MASQUES. CUMHAL BAISCNE was demolished by HALLIE
O'DENE in a 2 minute mismatched match. Demolishment. It hardly sounds like the work
of a lady. Which brings me back to the question, can one be both a lady and a
gladiator? It's an old debate, and always a heated one.
SHALZAR (31-541) (25-23-0,283) of THE STORMGUARDS fought SEVEN-EYED GOLLYWOG
(101-31) (0-0-0,220) of the Louts Local 101. SHALZAR was overpowered by SEVEN-EYED
GOLLYWOG in a popular 1 minute one-sided melee. It's the extra eyes that do it.
Someone--not me--will have to remind Golly that this is not a good beginning for
warriors we hope will remain here!
DRACO (31-1427) (28-13-1,311) of THE STORMGUARDS fought NAIHREN (101-27) (0-0-
0,240) of the Louts Local 101. DRACO was vanquished by NAIHREN in a popular 1 minute
one-sided duel. Bit of an embarrassment there, eh? It happens.
THE SENTINEL (31-3559) (23-21-0,306) of THE STORMGUARDS fought FEALOST (1-3916)
(63-87-2,195) of MOSSRUNNERS. THE SENTINEL was vanquished by FEALOST in a 2 minute
gory uneven duel. Fealost won? Now, THERE is an unbelievable victory. I may have
to wake up his manager and point this out.
KAZ (31-3782) (20-22-3,260) of THE STORMGUARDS fought KOOKABURRA (33-4151) (77-
108-4,185) of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES. KAZ was handily defeated by KOOKABURRA in an
action packed 1 minute uneven fight. Ah, suspicious things, Girl Scout Cookies, I've
noticed that myself.
And the challenge matches:
HELM HAMMERHAND (31-5025) (40-30-0,133) of LORDS OF VALHALLA challenged HEBEE
(38-4359) (26-23-0,136) of ALL FINESSE. Up 3. HELM HAMMERHAND devastated HEBEE in a
1 minute uneven Challenge brawl. I hope you gave him the hebee-jebees, Helm. A
wake-up call, as one might say.
CEER (96-1537) (17-20-4,157) of THE BLOODGUARD 2 challenged BUCK (1-2291) (59-
120-0,161) of MOSSRUNNERS. Up 4. CEER devastated BUCK in a popular 5 minute brutal
one-sided Challenge contest. Always interesting to see a fossil fall. You should
consider retirement, Buck.
HELLACIOUS (1-7541) (32-10-1,200) of MANNEQUIN'S BEST challenged CAT IN THE HAT
(24-3103) (40-15-1,234) of THE SEUSS HEUSS. Up 34. HELLACIOUS handily defeated CAT
IN THE HAT in a 2 minute one-sided Challenge match. By the simple expedient, well,
almost simple, of sitting on the hat. It was one of those pop-up hats, and it popped
down over the cat. Rather amusing.
TENACIOUS (7-5337) (51-24-1,204) of BATHTUB ARMADA challenged BECKY (17-5782)
(37-22-4,206) of BLADES OF STEEL. Up 2. TENACIOUS was devastated by BECKY in a 2
minute mismatched Challenge fight. NOT what the bookies were expecting of you,
Tenacious. You might want to watch yourself around alleys; the bookies do get so
annoyed.
And for the title:
MOD COD (55-2638) (88-110-3,210) of RHYME TYME fought CIARAN AP GRUFFYDD (31-
3897) (23-12-0,252) of THE STORMGUARDS. MOD COD savagely defeated CIARAN AP GRUFFYDD
in an exciting 2 minute Title struggle. That darned fish remains on top, despite a
valiant effort by Ciaran. Better luck to us all next time.

Lord Protectors that turn! (if you have that many here of course.) Perhaps we can
entice the Bards to tell us great tales of Ferd the Tower! It should be a cycle
worthy of all those who have dueled here for the past 450 turns! Any interest? --
The Icelord
Crip -- On turn #111 in Crysalis you printed a "Crip's Top 20 for all slow arenas."
When are you going to do that again? -- The Icelord
Ceer -- Hang onto that potion of healing! You can sell them for a FORTUNE off the
Isle. -- Hallie O'Dene
Helm Hammerhand -- I have to tell you, that fight was a shock to me. I'm not bad,
but I didn't think I was that good! -- Lini Dawnwind
P.S. Of course, it could have been a fluke.
Unzoe the Shaman -- (bowing) That was well done. -- Pine Leaf the impressed
Jarl Forkbeard -- TELL Olaf that I didn't snip off your beard! -- Snipper
P.S. I wouldn't have presumed like that.
P.P.S. At least, not in public. I can imagine it being part of a scavenger hunt....
P.P.P.S. I wonder if one could make a contest out of a scavenger hunt? Or a
scavenger hunt out of a contest. Hmm. Maybe defeat a warrior of every style who is
within some fairly close range of you at the time of the fight in question? Or
defeat a warrior of every arena represented here? Hmm.
Pork Roll -- Apparently the Brick Wall considers you "an unstable substance." I
think we should retire it, let it go back to being an ordinary, or at least a fairly
ordinary, wall somewhere.... -- Hallie O'Dene
Hummingbird -- I'm Rirorni, actually, but the Commission doesn't like to admit it. --
Lini Dawnwind
The Icelord -- As always, I fully support your initiative as stated in the all arena
ad, suggesting a rule change to allow Grand Champion ranked ADM warriors to Dark
Arena Challenge. It is a most hussah proposal. Strong Steel, M'Lord! -- High Lord
Bosk
24 January 2007
The Council of Lords would like to propose a rule change in ADM and Primus. We
propose that Lord Protectors ranked "Grand Champions" and below (ADM) and "The Tower
Guard" and below (Primus) be allowed to fight in the Dark Arena. This would not
impact the top rankings or title match. Any managers who never got his fill or shot
at fighting Gateway monsters would have it as an option. We believe it might spark
some interest in the ADM/Primus realm for some managers. If interested, speak up in
the newsletters or on forums under the "rules changes" thread and let RSI know. This
could even be something to try for 12 months and then be re-evaluated. What say you,
managers of Ghea? -- The Icelord sends....

HDFA Mission Statement
"Show me the money!"
This is the battle cry of a newly formed collection of like-minded individuals:
The High Dolla' Free Agent$. We are not a tough guy alliance: No...we offer no
battle without reward. We search for victory and the prizes and accolades that
follow. We are motivated by winning and will freely use whatever means necessary to
obtain our currency. No stuffy rules, no mandates, no constitutions, no leaders,
only a few objectives:
1) Win as often as possible
2) Celebrate freely and revel in your victories; the more meaningless the
victory the more we celebrate. Highsiding and chest thumping are encouraged.
Ostentatious endzone celebrations with prop usage are encouraged, regardless of
fines, penalties, suspensions or arrest by local authorities. It is important to let
your opponent know how great you are; more importantly, you must let your own
alliance mates know how great you are.
This is a 1-up alliance, let the performance of your fellow Free Agent$ motivate
you. If a Free Agent wins a TV, win 2; if a Free agent wins a contest, win a more
prestigious one.
