REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Yes, well, here we are. Breathing down the neck of Death and Taxes, and a
leathery, unwashed neck it is. Zontani Sharp Eyes apparently believes it to be the
neck of a city about to perish utterly due to deaths. Myself, I think the perishing
will come from taxes, but then, I have an edge in these calculations, having already
tried death and found it the less alarming of the two.
But on a brighter, or at least more sanguinary, note, the fights of the day.
The Stormguards were avoided by the warriors of Royal Flush. Other teams may
have been avoided by other warriors, but this particular configuration was, by a
small margin, the most significant.
Kalen got the most challenges.
Out of twenty-seven fights, twelve were challenge matches, which is not a bad
percentage. Nobody died, though many faced the Taxman. Or no, wait, the Taxman
retired, didn't he or she? Somebody from Intimidators in Niania. Well, people faced
A taxman, regardless. Only one standby fought.
And on that note, or set of notes (can you hum it?), we move on to the actual
fights.
FAT BACK (96-1610) (21-19-4,86) of KILLING ME SOFTLY fought MOUNTAIN GOAT (56-
3700) (46-63-3,77) of REDHORSE. FAT BACK overcame MOUNTAIN GOAT in a 2 minute bout.
Even though it was a random match, it is clear that Fat Back learned well last time
and was able to defeat Mountain Goat.
BLOOD PIE (96-1918) (9-8-5,22) of WHY SELL THIS? fought TITAN (17-6796) (18-4-
1,51) of STEEL WOLVES. BLOOD PIE won victory over TITAN in an action packed 1 minute
bout. But, I warn you, Blood Pie, you will have the maintenance crew to deal with
next, and they are not an easy proposition! They are claiming "extra chargers" for
cleaning the jellied blood out of the sand.
HEAD CHEESE (96-1920) (11-6-3,43) of WHY SELL THIS? fought CAULIFLOWER EARS (52-
3424) (20-13-0,88) of OTTO'S PARTS. HEAD CHEESE defeated CAULIFLOWER EARS in an
exciting 3 minute bout. Now, here was a match to confuse the most astute observer.
Which was a less edible prospect? Head Cheese, or Cauliflower? Inquiring minds
would prefer NOT to know.
SCRAPPLE (97-1961) (8-9-3,34) of WHY SELL THIS? fought JARL FORKBEARD (31-5280)
(26-9-1,71) of THE STORMGUARDS. SCRAPPLE viciously subdued JARL FORKBEARD in a slow
13 minute gruesome match. The concept of slow viciousness boggles me. This
sounds... really mean. Surely we don't have anybody that mean here in Home Guard?
Oh. We do, eh? Well... well, I'll just have to watch out for them, then.
BROKEN TOE (56-3683) (46-67-1,93) of REDHORSE fought BRICK WALL (1-7478) (38-41-
0,63) of HOMICIDAL MANIACS. BROKEN TOE was luckily beaten by BRICK WALL in a popular
2 minute gory match. Huh. What can we say, that isn't too impolite (the politeness
police have been watch us closely of late days), about a gladiator who gets tired of
beating his head against a brick wall after a mere two minutes?
MISCHIEVOUS IMP (1-7627) (29-15-3,101) of SWEORDMASTERS fought PORK ROLL (97-
1634) (21-19-5,128) of KILLING ME SOFTER. MISCHIEVOUS IMP was overpowered by PORK
ROLL in an action packed 2 minute uneven fray. Have you ever (before) seen an imp,
mischievous or otherwise, who weighs two hundred ninety seven pounds? This is what
pork rolls do to imps. Take note and avoid.
LINI DAWNWIND (11-5865) (30-30-1,159) of KRILL CAVALRY fought HUMMINGBIRD (56-
3475) (45-53-0,135) of REDHORSE. LINI DAWNWIND was overpowered by HUMMINGBIRD in an
exciting 1 minute uneven fight. Rather embarrassing, eh, Lini?
AEDON (7-4295) (54-49-1,174) of BLADES OF ICE fought YOU'VE GOT SEATTLE (82-
31563) (27-18-1,146) of IT'S THE SAME MOVIE! AEDON was overpowered by YOU'VE GOT
SEATTLE in a 1 minute mismatched fight. Rumor has it (but you know how unreliable
rumors can be) that a new weapon is about to be added to the repertoire: the two-
handed seattle.

4,188) of THE BLOODGUARD 2. CROOKED HOOF was demolished by CEER in a 1 minute one-
sided bout. Good. Looking at that stupid crooked toenail was making my feet hurt.

(36-38-0,184) of TUFT TUGGERS. MOD COD was unbelievably bested by BRANFORD HAWKE in
a popular 2 minute brutal brawl. Why does ANBODY find it hard to believe that some
random gladiator off the streets can slice and dice the stinking fish? Not that
Branford didn't do well, he did, but seriously, how is this unbelievable?
BECKY (17-5782) (39-23-4,203) of BLADES OF STEEL fought AYLIAN (101-23) (0-0-
0,181) of the Louts Local 101. BECKY vanquished AYLIAN in a crowd pleasing 1 minute
one-sided fray. Well, naturally! Look at the difference in experience, after all!
KOOKABURRA (33-4151) (79-109-4,218) of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES fought TENACIOUS (7-
5337) (52-25-1,204) of BATHTUB ARMADA. KOOKABURRA was luckily beaten by TENACIOUS in
a popular 3 minute bloody duel. No luck here. Look at the logic of it: If you
throw a cookie into the bathtub, what happens to it? Assuming it doesn't get eaten
immediately by the rubber duckies, it gets soggy and sinks.
REDEMPTION (4-4868) (53-34-2,213) of BLADES OF MIST fought HELLACIOUS (1-7541)
(33-11-1,190) of MANNEQUIN'S BEST. REDEMPTION overpowered HELLACIOUS in a 1 minute
mismatched conflict. Does this mean that even the WORST can be redeemed? Yes, I
know, these are Mannequin's BEST, but Hellacious is surely a sort of "worst of the
best."
DESPERADO (77-2459) (36-18-2,211) of POSSE fought BUCK (1-2291) (61-121-0,199)
of MOSSRUNNERS. DESPERADO viciously subdued BUCK in an exciting 2 minute bloody
battle. Just to make it clear that Crooked Hoof was right in declaring you
"amazing," eh? Good work.
JOHN LONGSHORE (11-4197) (42-49-0,221) of TUFT TUGGERS fought FEALOST (1-3916)
(65-88-2,196) of MOSSRUNNERS. JOHN LONGSHORE was savagely defeated by FEALOST in a 2
minute bloody competition. And what, exactly, is Fealost UP to here, winning fights.
It's outrageous.
