REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
If Novogorodny Vir was MY "humble servant," I'd fire him.
It's raining. I hate rain. It's so... WET. And untidy, too. Who wants water
falling out of the sky at random intervals? Or even at scheduled intervals, although
that would be better. You could plan for it. Stay home in bed. Yeah, that would be
a plan....
But since I'm here, how about a spy report? What a surprise, eh?
Blades of Ice were most avoided, with Open Sesame doing most of the avoiding.
Brick Wall got the most challenges, and it was NOT conversational ability.
We had twenty-seven fights, light on the action and excitement, the longest
being a mere seven minutes. Ridiculous! This is Home Guard, we can do worse than
that! Three standbys fought, and ten challenges were issued and accepted. One
hapless goof died.
BLOOD PIE (96-1918) (11-10-5,56) of WHY SELL THIS? fought LAKE SAILOR (101-2)
(0-0-0,30) of the Louts Local 101. BLOOD PIE was handily defeated by LAKE SAILOR in
a 1 minute mismatched bout. The Sailor was looking for bait and thought B.P. might
do the trick. We'll hope for a report on this next time.
SNIPPER (66-3518) (27-26-0,54) of WHIPPERSNAPPERS fought BLOODY BRAINLESS (96-
2206) (9-1-3,31) of BLOODY RANDOMNESS. SNIPPER vanquished BLOODY BRAINLESS in a 1
minute one-sided fray. Ah, now THERE is an evocative warrior name: Bloody
Brainless. I think we won't ask what his manager had in mind.
BULL DURHAM (5-4324) (22-11-0,76) of PARTY ANIMALS fought ACID BATH (33-7373)
(18-5-0,70) of DEATH PENALTY. BULL DURHAM was overpowered by ACID BATH in a 1 minute
brutal uneven match. Very few things, animals, or people can come out of an acid
bath smiling and smelling the roses, and Bull Durham should count himself lucky to
still have a nose.
BROKEN TOE (56-3683) (47-70-1,87) of REDHORSE fought HARLEY THE CADAVER (18-
5366) (22-42-3,78) of STREET PIZZA. BROKEN TOE was overpowered by HARLEY THE CADAVER
in a popular 2 minute uneven fight. Go, Harley! Dead Power! Do it again, Sam. Or,
you know, whatever your name might have been at one time. Few cadavers are named
Harley at birth.
MOUNTAIN GOAT (56-3700) (47-66-3,77) of REDHORSE fought REVANENT (15-4770) (19-
8-2,89) of BLOODSWORN. MOUNTAIN GOAT was defeated by REVANENT in a 2 minute gruesome
fight. And we salute Revanent, even though the old Goat is said to be an overpush.
Push him over any time.
MISCHIEVOUS IMP (1-7627) (29-16-3,99) of SWEORDMASTERS fought HEAD CHEESE (96-
1920) (13-8-3,71) of WHY SELL THIS? MISCHIEVOUS IMP was bested by HEAD CHEESE in a 4
minute brutal bout. Ah, that's got to be one to make the Imp blush.
A GROUNDSKEEPER (45-1613) (27-23-1,150) of AVID FANS fought FAT BACK (96-1610)
(25-19-4,147) of KILLING ME SOFTLY. A GROUNDSKEEPER viciously subdued FAT BACK in a
2 minute gruesome duel. Naturally! Fat was littering right and left, and you know
that's something Groundskeepers do NOT tolerate.
HEBEE (38-4359) (26-26-0,113) of ALL FINESSE fought KATRINA (101-9) (0-0-0,170)
of the Louts Local 101. HEBEE was vanquished by KATRINA in a 1 minute one-sided
match. Two wins by the standbys so far, is this a trend? I will admit, when the
standbys boast about winning a lot, they're marginally less annoying than when
they're whining about their losses, but... I dunno, I don't think this is a good
precedent.
PORK ROLL (97-1634) (24-20-5,131) of KILLING ME SOFTER fought AEDON (7-4295)
(54-53-1,150) of BLADES OF ICE. PORK ROLL viciously subdued AEDON in a popular 5
minute gory contest. Aedon, you chump! When will you remember that you can't eat
pork?
ANNABEL BLACKHEART (65-6769) (19-8-2,118) of POSSE fought VIKING RAIDER (54-
2885) (14-2-1,103) of SPARF! ANNABEL BLACKHEART overpowered VIKING RAIDER in a 1
minute one-sided match. Clearly, this Annabel is nobody to mess with! Just in case
you were thinking of messing around with a woman.
HELM HAMMERHAND (31-5025) (43-34-0,162) of LORDS OF VALHALLA fought THE SINGING
BANDIT (11-6349) (24-28-0,103) of GERFEL'S FRIENDS. HELM HAMMERHAND savagely
defeated THE SINGING BANDIT in an exciting 3 minute bout. Oog. Can you say "mis-
match"? Although I note that the record didn't, which means the Bandit has great
promise.
TENACIOUS (7-5337) (53-25-1,210) of BATHTUB ARMADA fought OSCAR (50-3153) (37-
13-0,157) of OPEN SESAME. TENACIOUS savagely defeated OSCAR in a crowd pleasing 7
minute bloody brawl. Our longest fight. And if this doesn't make Oscar grouchy, I
don't know what would.
CEER (96-1537) (20-20-4,209) of THE BLOODGUARD 2 fought AYLIAN (101-23) (0-0-
0,181) of the Louts Local 101. CEER devastated AYLIAN in a 1 minute uneven duel.
Ah, the last standby, and a loss. Whew! I'm glad of that, I didn't want to think of
what standbys who'd gone 3-0 would've been like in the bars tonight.
BUCK (1-2291) (62-124-0,198) of MOSSRUNNERS fought MOD COD (55-2638) (91-114-
3,181) of RHYME TYME. BUCK defeated MOD COD in a popular 2 minute duel. Yes!
Fillet that flounder! Make him into fish sticks. You did note that this was popular
with the crowd? The Cod has been getting a bit whiff lately.
KOOKABURRA (33-4151) (80-112-4,188) of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES fought FEALOST (1-
3916) (67-90-2,192) of MOSSRUNNERS. KOOKABURRA viciously subdued FEALOST in a crowd
pleasing 2 minute bloody bout. Ah, yes, I HAVE heard that Kookaburra was thinking of
ways to turn a simple cookie into a deadly weapon. An edible shurikin, so to speak.
And if not deadly today, the Kook was very... efficient.

7,193) of KILLING ME SOFTER. MOOSE slimly lost to REDDI WHIP in an exciting 4 minute
brutal contest. Or maybe it was a case of Moose losing slimness to Reddi? Those
mounds of whipped, ah, non-dairy products....

action packed 1 minute Challenge melee. Does this mean that Pine Leaf is now the
furious one? Which I suppose is better than being a furious five. Imagine having to
find five pairs of shoes to match, and what do you do about tee-shirts?

fathom it? They say our kids will use it easily, but I still think it's unnatural.
I can understand a foot. I have two, one at the end of each leg, but only golems
come with built-in meters.

that she should remain our Captain of the Guard. Do you suppose Crooked will notice
