REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
It was supposed to be the Unknown Spymaster today, and I thought about letting
"him" do it. He's actually a golem, as you may realize. No one but a golem could be
so lacking in personality. And then I thought what the Grey Witch might have to say
about it and changed my mind.
Posse was avoided by Royal Flush. Possibly some other team was avoided by some
other team, but this particular no-match caught the eye.
Mischievous Imp got (probably) the most challenges. And there were plenty of
those flying around! Out of twenty-six fights (with only one standby involved),
sixteen were challenge matches. An impressive percentage. Two of them were even tv
challenges. Good going.
CAULIFLOWER EARS (52-3424) (20-16-0,67) of OTTO'S PARTS fought LAKE SAILOR (101-
2) (0-0-0,30) of the College of Mimes. CAULIFLOWER EARS was vanquished by LAKE
SAILOR in a 1 minute one-sided fray. Our only standby match today, and the standby
won. This will please the standbys, of course, but other arenas here on the Isle are
likely to sneer. Well, let 'em. That's one tough Sailor.
SNIPPER (66-3518) (30-26-0,85) of WHIPPERSNAPPERS fought DON KING (47-5374) (17-
15-2,75) of ROYAL FLUSH. SNIPPER was demolished by DON KING in a 1 minute one-sided
melee. Apparently this Don King knows what to do with a whappersnipper.
BLOOD PIE (96-1918) (11-13-5,34) of WHY SELL THIS? fought LADYBUG (29-4709) (23-
19-1,77) of CARDOW HUNTERS. BLOOD PIE was defeated by LADYBUG in a popular 1 minute
gory duel. Odd, I didn't know that was the kind of bug which was attracted to
(shudder) blood pie. Remind me to keep a distance.
BLOODY BRAINLESS (96-2206) (9-4-3,39) of BLOODY RANDOMNESS fought PINE LEAF (24-
4580) (37-48-0,85) of KRILL CAVALRY. BLOODY BRAINLESS was overpowered by PINE LEAF
in an exciting 1 minute uneven fight. The result being that Bloody Brainless was
left merely... bloody.
BRICK WALL (1-7478) (42-44-0,93) of HOMICIDAL MANIACS fought JOHN WAYNE HAMMER
(42-4213) (15-16-2,66) of KLK RANGE HAMMERZ. BRICK WALL luckily beat JOHN WAYNE
HAMMER in a 3 minute match. You need a heavier hammer to bring down a Brick Wall,
John. Remember that next time.
AEDON (7-4295) (54-56-1,141) of BLADES OF ICE fought MOUNTAIN GOAT (56-3700)
(49-67-3,100) of REDHORSE. AEDON unbelievably bested MOUNTAIN GOAT in an action
packed 2 minute bloody duel. I believe this. In fact, I rejoice in seeing it,
because I have heard that this Mountain Goat is or has been a caravan raider, and
such people should be kept humble.
KONGOL (7-4524) (53-53-2,159) of BLADES OF ICE fought VIKING RAIDER (54-2885)
(14-4-1,105) of SPARF! KONGOL was defeated by VIKING RAIDER in an exciting 1 minute
gory duel. This Viking Raider, obviously a hot property, is naturally adept (being
from the land of ice and darkness) in dealing with ice. Go for it.
MOOSE (56-3459) (41-52-0,194) of REDHORSE fought PORK ROLL (97-1634) (27-20-
5,192) of KILLING ME SOFTER. MOOSE was viciously subdued by PORK ROLL in a 2 minute
gory contest. Try bicarb, Moose. Or rabbit food. They tell me salads can help. I
don't see that, myself. Horrid things, salads. Unnatural.
CAT IN THE HAT (24-3103) (47-18-1,222) of THE SEUSS HEUSS fought CROOKED HOOF
(56-3493) (53-47-1,194) of REDHORSE. CAT IN THE HAT overpowered CROOKED HOOF in a 1
minute mismatched fight. I do recall Crooked once explaining that this deformity
resulted in him being late for fights, and it obviously also makes him awkward and
slow DURING fights. No more than a caravan raider deserves.

(30-18-3,77) of SWEORDMASTERS. Up 16. SIXKILLER was devastated by MISCHIEVOUS IMP
in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge brawl. The Imp got the most challenges, you will
recall. I don't understand that. Who wants to mess with an imp? Too tricky.
REVANENT (15-4770) (21-9-2,100) of BLOODSWORN challenged HEAD CHEESE (96-1920)
(16-8-3,101) of WHY SELL THIS? Up 1. REVANENT lost to HEAD CHEESE in an exciting 4
minute Challenge fray. All a slight miscalculation: Rev came out with a strategy
calculated for GREEN cheese, and while Head Cheese could make anyone green, it is
not, itself, of that revolting color.
BULL DURHAM (5-4324) (23-12-0,92) of PARTY ANIMALS challenged BROKEN TOE (56-
3683) (48-72-1,58) of REDHORSE. Down 34. BULL DURHAM was vanquished by BROKEN TOE
in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge bout. Drat. Tell me that you at least stamped on
his toe, Bull.
ACID BATH (33-7373) (20-6-1,100) of DEATH PENALTY challenged SCRAPPLE (97-1961)
(11-13-3,86) of WHY SELL THIS? Down 14. ACID BATH was narrowly defeated by SCRAPPLE
in a 6 minute Challenge conflict. A mystery, a complete mystery. Acid, what were
you THINKING? Or your manager, as the case might be.
HUNZICKER BOWL (23-4182) (30-18-1,93) of SKI TAOS challenged HARLEY THE CADAVER
(18-5366) (23-44-3,72) of STREET PIZZA. Down 21. HUNZICKER BOWL viciously subdued
HARLEY THE CADAVER in a 2 minute Challenge battle. Though my sympathies naturally
reside with Harley, I have to shake my head over that boy. He has no idea how to go
about being a dead man successfully. It isn't something you can just let happen
naturally, there are rules, studies, special skills. Young people these days have no
idea what is involved.
HEBEE (38-4359) (27-28-0,145) of ALL FINESSE challenged FAT BACK (96-1610) (27-
20-4,157) of KILLING ME SOFTLY. Up 12. HEBEE was demolished by FAT BACK in a 1
minute mismatched Challenge competition. It's enough to make a person wonder about
this "up-challenging" stuff, isn't it?
ACE METRIC (47-3554) (20-11-0,138) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged GAR & BRILL (38-
4252) (57-78-0,123) of JUST BECAUSE. Down 15. ACE METRIC was overpowered by GAR &
BRILL in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge fight. It was probably the broken bottle
that Gar smuggled onto the sands. Nasty things, broken bottles. My weapon of
choice.
SLIPPERY NIPPLE (59-2323) (25-12-1,148) of HANGOVERS challenged HUMMINGBIRD (56-
3475) (49-56-0,166) of REDHORSE. Up 16. SLIPPERY NIPPLE overpowered HUMMINGBIRD in
a 1 minute one-sided Challenge fight. I had some weird thoughts about these names,
not to mention these people, but maybe I'll keep 'em to myself. Those of you with
dirty minds can figure it out, and the rest should retain their pristine purity.
ANNABEL BLACKHEART (65-6769) (21-9-2,138) of POSSE challenged UNZOE THE SHAMAN
(31-4940) (20-6-0,114) of THE STORMGUARDS. Down 24. ANNABEL BLACKHEART was
overpowered by UNZOE THE SHAMAN in a 1 minute Challenge duel. Always be careful
around shamans, Annabel. They have mysterious powers, and they don't hesitate to use
them.
LONDON QUIREBOY (59-2513) (24-6-1,154) of CHAPEL ROCK challenged HELM HAMMERHAND
(31-5025) (46-34-0,193) of LORDS OF VALHALLA. Up 39. LONDON QUIREBOY was vanquished
by HELM HAMMERHAND in a 1 minute uneven Challenge duel. Is this the definition of
recklessness, or what? Maybe next time, the Quireboy will be more careful whose
hubcaps he "liberates."
TENACIOUS (7-5337) (55-26-1,203) of BATHTUB ARMADA challenged KOOKABURRA (33-
4151) (83-112-4,221) of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES. Up 18. TENACIOUS overcame KOOKABURRA in
an action packed 3 minute Challenge fight. We knew what was going to happen when we
saw Tenacious coming out with a glass of milk and a napkin. Some combinations are
unbeatable.
CEER (96-1537) (22-21-4,190) of THE BLOODGUARD 2 challenged MOD COD (55-2638)
(91-117-3,191) of RHYME TYME. Up 1. CEER devastated MOD COD in a 1 minute
mismatched Challenge match. Excellent! Fillet that fish forwards and backwards.
POPE PAUL II (79-1317) (28-22-0,201) of CHAPEL ROCK challenged DESPERADO (77-
2459) (41-20-2,202) of POSSE. Up 1. POPE PAUL II devastated DESPERADO in a popular
1 minute uneven Challenge brawl. Nothing like a well-timed blessing, hmm?
BLACK JACK SHELACK (47-4850) (28-20-1,182) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged FEALOST (1-
3916) (67-93-2,186) of MOSSRUNNERS. Up 4. BLACK JACK SHELACK devastated FEALOST in
a 1 minute one-sided Challenge contest. Good. Mossrunners are Bad People and should
be defeated at every opportunity.
The tv challenges, for which Bull Frog and A Groundskeeper should be sincerely
congratulated, but they'll have to settle for mere acknowledgement, because it's been
a long day.
BULL FROG (73-4547) (18-8-0,71) of THE BULLS TV challenged OBSIDIAN (36-7135)
(16-9-2,62) of VOW TO DESTROY. Down 9. BULL FROG demolished OBSIDIAN in a popular 2
minute one-sided Challenge melee. Good thing we're near the end of the day's fights,
those splinters of obsidian are hard to get out of the sands.
A GROUNDSKEEPER (45-1613) (29-23-1,160) of AVID FANS TV challenged BUCK (1-2291)
(64-125-0,182) of MOSSRUNNERS. Up 22. A GROUNDSKEEPER devastated BUCK in a 2 minute
gruesome mismatched Challenge fight. Ah... and it was this Groundskeeper who
gathered up disposed of all the aforesaid splinters, using Buck to mop them up.
Clever. Watch out for this fellow.

REDDI WHIP (97-1636) (31-16-7,218) of KILLING ME SOFTER. BECKY was narrowly defeated
by REDDI WHIP in an exciting 2 minute brutal Title match. This is the price of not
picking your fights, Becky. And possibly, though it is not proven, of failing to
write a column. Oh, well, it was a close fight anyway. Exciting to watch. Good

SUMMER FACE-TO-FACE IN ATLANTA!
Our next summer FTF will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, July 27-29, 2007. It will be
held at the Sheraton Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, on 3405 Lenox Road NE (404-261-9250).
Room rates are $95.00 per night, 1-4 occupancy. There is a free shuttle from the
MARTA station two blocks away and free parking, high speed internet (for extra charge),
fitness center, jacuzzi, and pool. The rooms are blocked--ask for the Reality
Simulations room block. Look for transportation info in the tournament information
