REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Again and again, eh? But we have a decent showing today. Only eighteen fights
(involving one standby), it's true, but ten are challenges. That counts for
something, shows people are taking an interest. No tv challenges, but so it goes.
Novgorodny Vir seems to feel that someone here is taking speech lessons in order
to bore their opponents to death. I don't believe that, the longest fight was only
seven minutes, and I don't think we have anyone here who can get bored THAT fast. It
isn't like Debby Tonte spends much time here.
Gerfel's Friends were seriously avoided by Royal Flush. Jealousy, no doubt.
Unzoe the Shaman got the most challenges. Considering that people issued
several challenges here, that says something. Possibly something unprintable, but
life is often like that.
So, let's talk about the fights.
HUW AP HUW (35-3030) (20-46-0,33) of CHILDREN OF LLYR fought CAFFREY'S (21-4748)
(13-2-1,58) of REAL BEER. HUW AP HUW was devastated by CAFFREY'S in a 1 minute one-
sided bout. Ah, was it Huw who confessed that he LIKES real beer? Obviously a man
of good taste if only mediocre gladiatorial skills. And as to that lack of skills,
well, this IS Home Guard.
BLOODY BRAINLESS (96-2206) (13-16-3,45) of BLOODY RANDOMNESS fought AIM SEDUCE
HAMMER (17-6815) (23-9-1,45) of AIM 4 ISLE HAMMERZ. BLOODY BRAINLESS overpowered AIM
SEDUCE HAMMER in a 1 minute mismatched conflict. Do we take this to indicate that
beating A.S. Hammer takes no brains? Maybe it was luck, eh? And that grim
Bloodgames experience, never forget that. Regular gladiators know they MIGHT die on
the sands, Bloodgames gladiators know that they probably WILL die. And if they
don't, well, it gives 'em an edge in attitude.
RUBBER KNIFE (57-2546) (16-6-1,100) of USELESS TOOLS fought JOHN WAYNE HAMMER
(42-4213) (18-29-2,47) of KLK RANGE HAMMERZ. RUBBER KNIFE demolished JOHN WAYNE
HAMMER in an exciting 2 minute one-sided bout. Now, there's a come-down for the
tough guy from Rodeki. With a rubber knife and little regular-arena experience. At
least it was exciting. To the spectators.
MATH OP OWAIN (35-1418) (39-80-1,128) of CHILDREN OF LLYR fought SUGARBEET (7-
5219) (33-35-1,107) of SUGAR AND SPICE. MATH OP OWAIN viciously subdued SUGARBEET in
a popular 2 minute brutal brawl. Again? And it's a random match. Somebody out
there likes to see these two fight. The gods know why, but the who is probably Harv
Threepstone, our handicapper. He's known to like a bet now and then, but he isn't
supposed to be betting on the fights.
HARLEY THE CADAVER (18-5366) (31-52-3,179) of STREET PIZZA fought GAR & BRILL
(38-4252) (61-90-0,139) of JUST BECAUSE. HARLEY THE CADAVER was vanquished by GAR &
BRILL in a 1 minute one-sided fray. That's gotta smart for Harley. Not to mention
that he lost thirty points in that match and Gar walked away with an additional
thirty-one. A tip, no doubt.
BLOOD PIE (96-1918) (20-20-5,168) of WHY SELL THIS? fought HUNZICKER BOWL (23-
4182) (38-20-1,129) of SKI TAOS. BLOOD PIE was savagely defeated by HUNZICKER BOWL
in a popular 1 minute bloody duel. Now you know: The Taosenos are serious about
their cuisine (that being the stuff they put in their bowls), and they do NOT do
blood pie.
HEAD CHEESE (96-1920) (26-14-3,167) of WHY SELL THIS? fought OWAIN HARLSON (35-
3130) (25-34-1,135) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. HEAD CHEESE viciously subdued OWAIN HARLSON
in a crowd pleasing 7 minute bloody bout. You gotta hand it to Owain, he did try to
eat that all. I hear he threw up on the way to the Infirmary afterward, though. It
was probably the onions. Tricky things, onions.
Ah! The challenge matches.

(99-1268) (12-7-3,69) of DEAD PRESIDENTS, YO. Up 2. LAND OF FLUSH devastated JAMES
MADISON in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge conflict. Well, naturally. A tough old
bird like Jimmy Madison, who never used a paragraph if he could do a run-on sentence
instead, didn't know about... flush. Too modern.
VANISH (73-4633) (22-8-1,74) of THE INANIMATES challenged TOTTI (17-5991) (13-5-
2,74) of ITALIAN FOOTBALL. Straight across. VANISH overpowered TOTTI in an exciting
1 minute one-sided Challenge fight. That fight was so fast, it was practically a
vanishing act! Now you see 'em, now you don't.
PRIVATE ROOM (31-3620) (19-11-0,90) of MILITARY MAYHEM challenged MISCHIEVOUS
IMP (1-7627) (34-20-3,84) of SWEORDMASTERS. Down 6. PRIVATE ROOM vanquished
MISCHIEVOUS IMP in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge fight. But of course. After all,
it was a *private* room, no room for extraneous imps in there.
PUMPING ON STEELE (82-33221) (18-19-0,144) of NO RESPECT II challenged CADAL
(35-1370) (43-86-4,142) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. Down 2. PUMPING ON STEELE was
vanquished by CADAL in a popular 2 minute uneven Challenge duel. So, experience
counts, I see, even over skill. Some days are like that. A-one, a-two, a-three....
CUBA (26-3917) (25-11-0,114) of HERE TO PHOENIX challenged TAVIS CADFALSON (35-
1419) (32-87-2,131) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. Up 17. CUBA handily defeated TAVIS
CADFALSON in a 1 minute uneven Challenge fight. I think it must've been the cigars.
Can't stand 'em, myself. Too much risk of setting myself on fire, you know? Bad
plan. Sometimes being dead is a nuisance.

(31-4940) (29-13-0,148) of THE STORMGUARDS. Down 15. DEACON BLUE demolished UNZOE
THE SHAMAN in a 1 minute Challenge competition. The Shaman doesn't do chapel. Well
known for it.
FANNY BELT (28-1804) (44-26-1,182) of OTTO'S MECHANICS challenged CAT IN THE HAT
(24-3103) (58-23-1,189) of THE SEUSS HEUSS. Up 7. FANNY BELT was vanquished by CAT
IN THE HAT in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge brawl. The Cat made a limerick about
it, but it's, ah, well, I don't think Ed would let it past, so you'll just have to
imagine it. You can probably imagine a better one anyway.
ACE METRIC (47-3554) (25-16-0,200) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged MOD COD (55-2638)
(98-126-3,207) of RHYME TYME. Up 7. ACE METRIC was demolished by MOD COD in a
popular 1 minute one-sided Challenge melee. You got my sympathies, Ace. Fish gets
me like that, too. I gotta wonder why people eat the darned things; just looking at
'em should tell anyone but a hungry man that fish are not to be eaten. Scales!
TENACIOUS (7-5337) (61-33-1,193) of BATHTUB ARMADA challenged BULL DURHAM (5-
4324) (32-15-1,210) of PARTY ANIMALS. Up 17. TENACIOUS slimly won victory over BULL
DURHAM in a 2 minute Challenge fight. And a slim and graceful beauty she is, too.
Headed for the title again, Tenacious?
And speaking of the title: STEVE MCQUEEN (47-3908) (48-41-1,244) of ROYAL FLUSH
fought SEVEN-EYED GOLLYWOG (101-31) (0-0-0,220) of the Local Louts 101. Our only
standby match, wouldn't you know it? It says here on the program that the Gollywog
tried to grab some roses, which tells you just how smart the seven-eyed freak is: he
got a fist full of thorns. STEVE MCQUEEN subdued SEVEN-EYED GOLLYWOG in a 2 minute
Title match. Our congratulations to Steve McQueen, who makes a much better Captain
of the Guard than the Gollywog would.

Order of Lost Souls
Where there is a beginning, there is an end. Where there is a whole, there is a
part. Where there is light, there is dark. All these are found to be true and along
with the most important, when something is lost it can always be found.
Many a person has walked this land in one form or another. Some truly believe
that here is there and there is here but who really knows? Among the peoples of this
great land many have felt lost in time and in place. Some have gone as far as to be
lost of soul....
Although most are thought to have been born into this world in a mortal way, no
one can be sure. Life is something they have in a way but a torturous joke to them
in all others. They live in a sense as they are here and now and having mind and
knowledge. They are flesh and blood of one sort of another. They cast a shadow as
all things living do. Blood courses through their veins.
These beings have become wraiths drifting here and there, knowing that they
truly belong nowhere. Searching for that one thing that they seem to be missing or
the one thing in them that puts them beyond others. These people have become masters
of many things as time seems to have no hold. For not even time can find those that
are truly lost. Many of these beings have drifted toward the gladiatorial games. In
the blood and chaos of the arenas something holds them like no other. It's the loss
of something they have never had or something they had so long ago it seems to have
never been. LIFE.
A few of the more shall we say "human" of these beings have settled into many
arenas around the land. The loss of life and the crazed emotions of the arenas
giving them glimpses of things they longed for but seemed incapable of attaining.
A number of these lost ones saw in each other something that might be able to
help the other. They spent many a day traveling to and fro, for what is time to one
who it doesn't touch. The more time they spent together the more they seemed to
change. No one noticed the change in the others but each recognized it in himself.
Years passed and the changes stopped. Each had been changed in different ways but
all felt more whole. A discussion ensued between them. They came to a realization
that in each other they had found parts of themselves that had been missing. Then
came the next thought. If they could find more of like minded lost ones they might
eventually find what they always wanted, their true selves.
The group settled down to think things through. They finally came up with an
idea they all could accept. They would form an organization that through their
arenas through out the land they would seek out other lost ones. If they were of
like mind they would be invited to join the group and seek that special something
they all desired.
This was how it began and how it still is. The Order of Lost Souls was formed
and the search began. The original members numbered six. They were Baphomet,
Blackstorm, Hammer, JGW, Reaper and Wretch. These members of the Order spread their
gladiator stables through out the realm seeking others like them. Through blood and
death they lived through others. One day hoping to live for themselves. For as they
all know what is lost must eventually be found....
