                             REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER

Only twelve fights today? It's enough to make a strong man weep. It's enough
to make a manager move his gladiators to Talahya, because the Isle is not about easy
wins. Only twelve.... But at least none of them were standbys. Small favors, and
all that.
Only three challenges, and just ordinary, non-tv challenges, at that, but that
does mean that some manager or managers were paying a little attention. Cadal got
the most challenges but doesn't seem to want them. I saw him in the bar last night
trying to hand them off to other gladiators, his teammates and otherwise.
Why Sell This? was most avoided, which makes sense to me. Menagerie avoided
them the most.

BLOODY BRAINLESS (96-2206) (19-21-4,78) of BLOODY RANDOMNESS fought JOHN WAYNE
HAMMER (42-4213) (23-35-2,88) of KLK RANGE HAMMERZ. BLOODY BRAINLESS handily
defeated JOHN WAYNE HAMMER in a 1 minute one-sided contest. Ah. This must mean that
BB's hat was as black as they come.
SANDMAN (97-2610) (15-5-4,68) of COLLUSION fought ROISIN DUBH (47-6038) (22-13-
1,81) of GAELIC STORM. SANDMAN was luckily beaten by ROISIN DUBH in an exciting 5
minute bloody match. Where's the luck in this?
SNOTMAN (97-2611) (13-7-5,45) of COLLUSION fought PAPA LENNY (58-3880) (18-14-
0,68) of HELP WANTED. SNOTMAN was overpowered by PAPA LENNY in a 1 minute one-sided
melee. Nothing like showing up with a whole pocket full of hankies.
JAMES MADISON (99-1268) (18-12-3,81) of DEAD PRESIDENTS, YO fought MARV ZEM (24-
2429) (22-3-2,77) of BORN LOSERS. JAMES MADISON vanquished MARV ZEM in a popular 1
minute one-sided duel. You can be cursed by your team name, Marv. Maybe you should
change it--go hire on with someone else, eh?

DEMONICHELLION (33-7038) (29-32-2,111) of CHAOTICDISORDER fought SOUL SCOURGE
(25-1223) (23-9-2,119) of THE ILLUMINATI. DEMONICHELLION was vanquished by SOUL
SCOURGE in a popular 1 minute uneven duel. Another soul, scourged mercilessly! It
makes you wonder what's going on, doesn't it?
MATH OP OWAIN (35-1418) (45-85-1,184) of CHILDREN OF LLYR fought WRETCHEDMISERY
(33-7255) (36-26-0,162) of CHAOTICDISORDER. MATH OP OWAIN handily defeated
WRETCHEDMISERY in a 1 minute uneven fight. I think it was the "whistle while you
work" strategy. Or maybe it was a tactic.
GAR & BRILL (38-4252) (67-95-0,186) of JUST BECAUSE fought BLOOD PIE (96-1918)
(26-25-5,160) of WHY SELL THIS? GAR & BRILL slimly lost to BLOOD PIE in a crowd
pleasing 1 minute match. What a clean-up now needs to be undertaken at the gar. Not
to mention the brill.
HEAD CHEESE (96-1920) (35-16-3,217) of WHY SELL THIS? fought TENACIOUS (7-5337)
(70-35-1,198) of BATHTUB ARMADA. HEAD CHEESE was outwaited by TENACIOUS in a popular
12 minute duel. I figure the only reason this was popular was because it gave people
a chance to put up their umbrellas. Pouring rain, all at once like turning on a tap.

The challenges:
GWYN AP NUDD (41-1210) (22-5-0,85) of CAER SIDHE challenged HUW AP HUW (35-3030)
(20-57-0,48) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. Down 37. GWYN AP NUDD savagely defeated HUW AP
HUW in a crowd pleasing 2 minute Challenge duel. Yes, I have noticed the crowd is
getting more savage lately. Not to mention vicious.
HORAGALLES (31-5212) (22-19-2,131) of SOL INVICTUS challenged CADAL (35-1370)
(46-94-4,141) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. Up 10. HORAGALLES was subdued by CADAL in an
exciting 1 minute Challenge melee. So much for winning the "who can get through to
the Most-Challenged Gladiator" stakes, eh, Horagalles?
SILHOUETTE (26-2006) (24-9-0,128) of MENAGERIE challenged OWAIN HARLSON (35-
3130) (27-43-1,102) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. Down 26. SILHOUETTE devastated OWAIN
HARLSON in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge fight. This kind of thing happens.
Often.

And for the title:
SCRAPPLE (97-1961) (30-21-3,241) of WHY SELL THIS? fought TAVIS CADFALSON (35-
1419) (37-93-3,203) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. SCRAPPLE overpowered TAVIS CADFALSON in a 1
minute one-sided Title fight. So, there we have it, fried mush with leftovers in it
for our Captain of the Guard. Do we care? Do we even notice? Tune in next time and
see.

                               PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE

I have to agree--most challenged, two challenges of my own, and I still got a stand-
in? Definitely quite odd. -- Dream Warrior

     Life is like that sometimes.

Soul Scourge -- Continuing as Jorja insists we go in, ie, talking to you as though
you cared, I note that my soul is not in need of further scourging. It is, in fact,
spotless, so lay off the scourging powder, okay? It's too abrasive; I'm bleeding
from all that scourging. This can't be the proper result. -- Owain Harlson the well-
scourged

Head Cheese -- This is enough to put a person off cheese for a long time, and I
*like* cheese normally. Okay, I admit, not head cheese, more like cow or goat cheese
for me, but what can I say, I'm biased. And trying to spin out this personal to the
limit Jorja set. (sigh) She's a hard woman. -- Tavis Cadfalson

Long-Necked Larry -- The temptation to cut through that long neck is almost
irresistible, but I have this feeling that it would be ill-received by your fellow
standbys, so I did resist. -- Math op Owain

Black Eyes -- And beady ones, too. Very, um, impressively furious? Have you
considered anger-management trainging? -- Cadal

Sandman -- Surely you could go collude with someone. For choice, someone...
elsewhere. Aradi comes to mind. Go collude with an Aradian. -- Huw ap Huw
P.S. If I'm not a young man, Olaf, does that mean I get to retire? Fifty feels
might old to me.

     A spring chicken.

We don't have a chance, between you, the rest of the gladiators, and Jorja, do we? --
the Children of Llyr

     No.
