REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
So, here we are. The day started with sun, and now we've got those annoying
white clouds that glare so. Us dead guys can't take glare. Not that I had to stay
out in it long to watch today's fights. Well, yesterday's fights, because I didn't
sit down to write this the minute they were over. I was talking to some guys about
reservations for the tourney. It isn't like I'm frantic to see the tourney, mind
you, I've seen plenty. But I'll probably be doing the spy report, so I'd better be
there, eh? But today, I'm here.
Collusion was Most Avoided by Sparf! I'm always glad to find somebody who isn't
colluding. Bad stuff, collusion, leads to all kinds of weird economic junk.
I'm not sure--Snide Clemens made the "challenged and avoided" notes and what
does he know? But it looks like Makeshift Anchor MIGHT have had the most challenges.
Since he did actually have a challenge match, this is possible.
We had eighteen fights, down four from last time! Somebody's goofing off. Four
standbys were involved, I've told 'em they have to write personals next time. Five
challenge matches.
PRISONER 0327 (82-40997) (19-17-2,78) of DUNGEON CELL 66 fought B&G BOUNCER
(101-3) (0-0-0,30) of Chatty Standbys. PRISONER 0327 savagely defeated B&G BOUNCER
in a crowd pleasing 3 minute bloody fight. If the Pris thinks this is going to do
him good once he gets to the bar, he's mistaken. I know the bouncers at the Bash and
Glug, and they fight dirty on their own ground. Ol' 327 could be in serious trouble.
HEART BREAKER (26-4752) (18-9-0,59) of ULTRA-VIOLENT fought PRISONER BG11 (99-
1620) (8-14-4,42) of DUNGEON CELL 508C. HEART BREAKER was subdued by PRISONER BG11
in an exciting 5 minute bout. Ah, these Bloodgamers! No couth, and no restraint.
You're lucky to come out of that one alive, Heart Breaker. Better you stick with
Huw. I know he's a mediocre gladiator, but if you get attacked on the street, and
with a face and figure like that you just might, why, you can get away while the
stupid muggers are trying to get through Huw. Huh, that rhymes! Maybe I should be a
poet.
BILGE RAT (51-5334) (26-6-1,89) of SEA DOGS fought MEAN SPIRIT (101-5) (0-0-
0,70) of Chatty Standbys. BILGE RAT devastated MEAN SPIRIT in an exciting 1 minute
one-sided brawl. And I'm counting on the Mean Spirt to have something hot to say
about this fight. For instance, is it TRUE that the Bilge Rat oils his whiskers?

OWAIN HARLSON (35-3130) (34-55-1,65) of CHILDREN OF LLYR fought PATCH (36-7297)
(24-16-0,85) of SEA DOGS. OWAIN HARLSON was vanquished by PATCH in a crowd pleasing
1 minute one-sided fray. When you consider that Patch managed this dazzling
exhibition of skill with only one eye and no depth perception to speak of, you have
to hand it to him. Otherwise, he'll grab it anyway and kick you in the, uh, belly to
boot. With the boot. Maybe both boots. A tough guy, Patch.
OH OHLISH OMINAH (35-3912) (15-13-2,54) of PHILANTHROPISTS 3 fought KNOTHANDLER
(21-6555) (23-11-2,82) of SEA DOGS. OH OHLISH OMINAH was overpowered by KNOTHANDLER
in a 1 minute one-sided duel. Secret news flash from my spies (I don't do my own
spying, mind you, I'm a spy MASTER, not some minion): Oh Ohlish is actually a knot.
Or maybe the trainer said a "knotty problem." Either way, the Sea Dog handled it.

(101-6) (0-0-0,130) of Chatty Standbys. PRISONER 0103 overpowered THEATRE BUM in a 1
minute mismatched conflict. Yes, well, nobody's going to be upset about that. Let's
face it, the Theatre Bum is a bum, and stuck-up besides. "Theatre." Bah. He makes
like he's the only cultured person here and the only one to know how to spell that
word.
PRISONER 0118 (82-33748) (24-59-0,135) of DUNGEON CELL 24 fought PHONELESS CORD
(54-2018) (27-17-0,119) of USELESS TOOLS. PRISONER 0118 was demolished by PHONELESS
CORD in a 2 minute mismatched match. People tell you the Phoneless Cord is just part
of an appliance, but don't you believe it. That thing is actually a snake! A Garter
Constrictor, very rare and very nasty.
SANDMAN (97-2610) (24-13-4,121) of COLLUSION fought TAVIS CADFALSON (35-1419)
(45-104-3,140) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. SANDMAN demolished TAVIS CADFALSON in a 1 minute
mismatched competition. It was a sneaky deal, I can tell you that. Sandman actually
put Tavis to sleep, in a matter of seconds, mind you, and then demolished him before
he could wake up again. Makes Tavis look like some kind of fool, but then, we
already knew about that.
MATH OP OWAIN (35-1418) (52-97-1,163) of CHILDREN OF LLYR fought SHEWISH WHALER
(18-9272) (31-15-1,144) of SEA DOGS. MATH OP OWAIN was handily defeated by SHEWISH
WHALER in a 1 minute one-sided bout. Stands to reason, I mean, the Shewish Whales
are monsters, big and mean, and it takes someone special to deal with 'em. Dealing
with an old codger like Math is child's play after that.
MISS TEAK (1-8015) (33-28-1,179) of SEA DOGS fought GAR & BRILL (38-4252) (72-
109-0,142) of JUST BECAUSE. MISS TEAK vanquished GAR & BRILL in an exciting 1 minute
one-sided fight. Now, this was a pleasure for all of us veterans of Home Guard to
see. We've had Gar on our hands for years now, and he's never ONCE gotten clean.
Says there are monsters in his bathtub or some such nonsense. But Miss Teak scoured
him right down to the Grill. Good job!
BALLAST (1-7727) (34-45-0,170) of SEA DOGS fought CADAL (35-1370) (53-106-4,139)
of CHILDREN OF LLYR. BALLAST outwaited CADAL in an action packed 8 minute fight.
Eight minutes, and the clerks call it "out-waited"? What nonsense! And you see that
it was action-packed, too. The clerks are just snirty because any fight that runs
more than two minutes messes up their schedules. I tell 'em, I've told 'em often,
don't make the timing so tight. You just can't predict how long a fight will go.
But they never listen.
SNOTMAN (97-2611) (25-12-6,194) of COLLUSION fought RIPPY BRICKBOY (101-1) (0-0-
0,200) of Chatty Standbys. SNOTMAN overpowered RIPPY BRICKBOY in an action packed 2
minute gruesome uneven melee. And Rippy's comments were as nothing compared to those
of the sand-rakers, you know, the guys who come out between fights and rake the sand
smooth, make sure nobody's been buried in it, all that stuff. They don't like it
when Snotman fights.

I'd been Jetsam and seen those boar's tusks coming at me, I'd've run fast.

(35-3030) (25-71-0,59) of CHILDREN OF LLYR. Straight across. CAULIFLOWER EARS
defeated HUW AP HUW in a 1 minute Challenge match. Right, and now we're going to be
listening to Huw whine about the lack of cheese sauce, I bet! But he'd have done
better if he'd started figiting faster. I guess he didn't hear the arenamaster say
"Go" because of the bananas in his ears.
ROWDY YOBBO (20-3429) (26-31-1,149) of SPARF! challenged MAKESHIFT ANCHOR (1-
7724) (36-45-0,152) of SEA DOGS. Up 3. ROWDY YOBBO was viciously subdued by
MAKESHIFT ANCHOR in a 3 minute Challenge contest. I knew a dog once who had a
makeshift anchor. Big old heavy weight at the end of his chain, you know? He
dragged that weight all over town. Strongest neck of any dog I ever met.
CATFISH HUNTER (5-3315) (22-18-1,182) of PARTY ANIMALS challenged HEAD CHEESE
(96-1920) (49-21-3,196) of WHY SELL THIS?. Up 14. CATFISH HUNTER was viciously
subdued by HEAD CHEESE in a 12 minute Challenge match. Ah, now this was a bit of a
surprise to me. I figured these two would team up, Head profiding the bait for the
Hunter. Guess no.
LONDON QUIREBOY (59-2513) (29-14-1,195) of CHAPEL ROCK challenged BLOODY
BRAINLESS (96-2206) (31-28-4,214) of BLOODY RANDOMNESS. Up 19. LONDON QUIREBOY was
devastated by BLOODY BRAINLESS in a 2 minute Challenge fight. Ah, the Quireboy was
at a disadvantage: the Quiremaster never lets 'em swear, and he was so busy blushing
at the "Bloody" part that he forgot to defend himself. Really, I would have expected
more, ah, well, I don't think I can end that tactfully, so I'll just pass.
