Reflections by the Captain of the Guard
So it looks like changes are afoot for the Freshman tourney. Every Home Guard
eligible warrior is now Freshman qualified and vice versa. Interesting change. It's
simple and it makes some sense. I guess there isn't a good reason to have two
separate criteria for low skill ADM warriors. I look forward to seeing what impact
it will have on the popularity of the Freshman class (and maybe even the Home Guard
arena). I will be watching from the sidelines, of course, as am I no longer Home
Guard or Freshman qualified.
Don King, you should consider fighting in the upcoming tourney. I haven't been
hit that hard in a while!

REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
I greet you this morning in less than prime condition. Last night was full of
arthritis instead of sleep. You think us dead guys don't have arthritis? Martyrs to
it, I assure you. But I'm here now, and you're stuck with me. And it is, despite
everything, a beautiful day.
So.
Ace of Base had the biggest point gain, which, not to speak ill of his gain, is
a mere fifteen points. I choose to believe this is because everybody here is
fighting so hard, so skillfully, that gains are hard to get. The biggest drop was
Huw ap Huw, to nobody's surprise, and this, too, was fifteen points. Sea Dogs were
most avoided. Somebody's afraid of Mal de Mer? It was Useless Tools avoiding them.
Hammerhead got the most challenges.
We had nineteen fights, nine challenges, three standbys. Are we good, or what?
Let's hope this activity holds after the tourney.
The fights:
POOP SLINGER (24-4478) (18-5-0,89) of LOOK OUT!! fought DARIUS (29-5467) (16-11-
1,46) of OPEN HAND. POOP SLINGER overpowered DARIUS in a crowd pleasing 1 minute
mismatched fight. A serious mis-match, but that is what happens when the handicapper
starts rolling dice.
HOFFA (18-9369) (25-59-0,61) of ARROGANCE fought AMPUTATOR FROG (99-3206) (9-6-
4,24) of BLOOD FROG 3. HOFFA luckily beat AMPUTATOR FROG in an exciting 5 minute
brutal one-sided bout. This is amazing. How can a Hoffa win?
HUW AP HUW (35-3030) (47-125-1,141) of CHILDREN OF LLYR fought ASSUR (18-7821)
(33-87-2,131) of ARROGANCE. HUW AP HUW was devastated by ASSUR in a 1 minute
mismatched brawl. This loss cost Huw fifteen points, but he doesn't seem upset about
it.
PUMPING ON STEELE (82-33221) (23-30-0,146) of NO RESPECT II fought JACK KNIFE
(47-6694) (25-13-1,148) of ROYAL FLUSH. PUMPING ON STEELE was bested by JACK KNIFE
in an action packed 2 minute brutal duel. Amazing how much action can be packed into
two minutes!
MANIPULATOR (64-3490) (44-78-6,117) of UNDER DURESS fought SHARK BAIT (33-7652)
(27-21-0,122) of SEA DOGS. MANIPULATOR was defeated by SHARK BAIT in a popular 1
minute duel. Does this mean Manipulator is going to be on the next fishhook?
ROWDY YOBBO (20-3429) (39-43-1,180) of SPARF! fought DOMINION (98-2058) (24-28-
3,155) of ZOMBIE SQUAD 3. ROWDY YOBBO viciously subdued DOMINION in a crowd pleasing
3 minute bloody bout. You ever wonder why we get so many uneven matches, when a
little thought could do better? If so, know that you aren't the first to wonder
that, nor will you be the last.

26) (0-0-0,200) of A Standby. IMMOVEABLE OBJECT was devastated by BATTLING BOB in a
1 minute one-sided battle. This is amazing and even distressing. Immoveable has
been our Captain of the Guard in the past, and now he loses to a standby? What is
this world coming to?
RUBBER BULLET (54-2503) (31-13-1,184) of USELESS TOOLS fought LONG-NECKED LARRY
(101-22) (0-0-0,181) of Another Standby. RUBBER BULLET savagely defeated LONG-NECKED
LARRY in a crowd pleasing 3 minute match. At least Rubber Bullet managed a win.
And for the third, PHONELESS CORD (54-2018) (42-29-0,202) of USELESS TOOLS
fought SEVEN-EYED GOLLYWOG (101-31) (0-0-0,220) of Yet Another Standby. And another
of Crip's warriors. PHONELESS CORD was handily defeated by SEVEN-EYED GOLLYWOG in a
2 minute bout. He drew all the standbys today and went 1-2. It gives a man to
think.

bested by HOFFA in a 4 minute Challenge melee. What, another Hoffa wins? Will the
world come to an end?
DILL WEED (7-5241) (17-11-0,87) of SUGAR AND SPICE challenged HYDROPONICUS (29-
4605) (21-6-0,86) of BLUNT FORCE. Down 1. DILL WEED was overpowered by HYDROPONICUS
in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge brawl. Let this be a warning to all gardeners:

remind people that what looks easy may not be.
