Hi!
(grumbling) Here I am again! I was challenged by Golem. It was a brave challenge
but it seems he forgot how to defend himself... or just wasn't trying. Golem, did
you take a dive? Who's paying these gladiators to keep me on the throne?
It's all right, though. I took the magic sword, El Cid, for a little trip last
week. Actually I went to the Tourney on the mainland and I took Ciddy with me. A
shapeshifting sword is kind of handy. Normally it's kinda fancy looking, but it
changed to look like a grungy old dagger while I was walking around in the crowd. No
temptation to pickpockets. But the best thing was, when I saw a couple of sleazoids
drag a young girl into an alley. I ran to help her, El Cid became a sword, I
disarmed one of the guys and had the sword at his throat, and El Cid suddenly became
a mace so I could hit him on the head and move on to the next one, who was coming at
me with a dagger. El Cid is a sword again and I get it to the guy's throat, his back
is against the wall, and suddenly my weapon is a pair of really sharp hedgeclippers!
Like scissors, you know. He peed himself. It was great.
So, this is a really clever weapon and I'd like to hang onto it a while. If you guys
wanta keep taking dives, that's fine with me..
Nightfall
REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
I was going to a party, lots of people with conversations, pot lucks, that kind
of thing. The house with the rainbow on the corner, they said. And I found it, too!
But the party's tomorrow, not today, and I could've sworn somebody said today. Oh,
well. I'll just, you know, sit around and wait a while and tomorrow will just turn
INTO today. You know how it does that, all the time. Gazebo!
But today, we have fights. This is not as much fun as sitting around talking
about whose great-great-uncle stole whose third cousin's brother-in-law's pig, but
it's what we've got here. So....
Blackest Pride was avoided by Spongmonkeys. Somebody, Alarond, I think it was,
said that this was because Blackest Pride was the team to beat. But, you know, how
can anyone beat them if they avoid them? That's not reasonable. It looks to ME like
Spongmonkeys figured Blackest Pride was the team they didn't want to beat. But,
well, what do I know, huh?
There wasn't any most-challenged, probably because everybody got the same number
of challenges. Which is probably one each. Silly. I guess the excuse is, everyone
is recovering from the tourney. Or the taxes.
Only twenty-nine fights. This is so embarrassing. We should have more. We're
Free Blades. We should have MOST. Except maybe for Talahya. THEY can have more, I
don't mind. Only two standbys, so it could be worse. I forget who it was who had
thirteen or something standbys on the sands at once. Gazebo! Maybe Home Guard. I
just don't remember, okay. What was I talking about? Oh, right, twenty-nine fights,
two standbys. Nobody died. But there were only three challenge matches, which is
almost, you know, insulting. Doesn't anybody CARE?
Well, anyway, this is what we've got, so I guess we have to make the most of it.
I like my most with an umbrella in it, or else chocolate syrup. Either way.
CHARLIE (29-4555) (23-30-0,63) of CROC FILES fought ROSELLA (103-39) (26-25-
0,100) of the College of Mimes. CHARLIE overpowered ROSELLA in a popular 1 minute
one-sided match. The Chief Mime is annoyed, because Charlie started to eat Rosella.
This is not part of the plan. Do not eat the standbys, okay? Even when you win.
Even when they're mimes.
DIAMOND (82-33259) (6-1-0,91) of DARK TOADS 05D fought JAVELINO (56-3728) (28-
30-0,53) of REDHORSE. DIAMOND overpowered JAVELINO in a 1 minute uneven duel. Well,
there's a note here on the edge of the notes, in the shoulder of the notes, sort of,
and it says that diamonds cut everything. Even wild pigs. I guess so.
THE QUICKLING (70-1669) (65-147-2,136) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought PROPANE TORCH
(61-2524) (27-25-1,134) of FEAR FACTORY. THE QUICKLING lost to PROPANE TORCH in a
popular 2 minute bout. The maintenance people are getting upset about this. They
don't like little charred pieces of gladiators and armor in the sands, because it
clogs something. I don't know what, exactly, but it just clogs 'em awfully.
ARIA (75-3012) (32-37-1,143) of DARK TOADS fought MOUSE NOYLE (17-6252) (35-59-
0,122) of MIDDLE WAY. ARIA handily defeated MOUSE NOYLE in a 1 minute mismatched
bout. I was really, really glad. I mean, I don't actually, well, toads are not my
favorite thing, you know? But more than mouses.
THOMAS (82-14150) (23-36-2,146) of TOADS OF KRONDUR II fought ROSELLA (103-39)
(26-25-0,100) of the College of Mimes. THOMAS won victory over ROSELLA in a popular
1 minute fray. Well, this was kind of unfair, because of Rosella having to fight
already once, and then get chewed on by crocodile. She was off her strike or
whatever it is that people get off of when they have bad days. And, well, being a
standby isn't EASY, you know. I think that's why they joined the mimes.
LITA (82-27080) (8-4-1,102) of DARK TOADS 04D fought DAMORETH STENN (65-6105)
(53-68-1,147) of SAND DANCERS. LITA overpowered DAMORETH STENN in an action packed 1
minute brutal one-sided bout. So the question is, can Damoreth retire, quick, before
he wins another one?
VICTIM OF SOCIETY (55-3179) (35-39-2,155) of PHILANTHROPISTS fought GISELLA (74-
2704) (31-17-0,140) of DARK TOADS. VICTIM OF SOCIETY was beaten by GISELLA in an
action packed 4 minute fight. Now he, meaning, you know, the Victim, is going to
change his name to Victim of Gisella. Except that this isn't a name-change time.
VALLANT (38-4151) (50-29-2,179) of DARK TOADS fought KIMO (70-6089) (31-29-
4,117) of FEAR FACTORY IV. VALLANT defeated KIMO in an action packed 1 minute fight.
Gazebo! You can tell that Kimo did really well, because the announcer didn't say
"one-sided" or "mis-matched." That's good, Kimo.
JAMMIES (74-2829) (82-84-1,167) of DARKLINGS fought TEMUJIN (65-3796) (27-9-
0,134) of SPLIT INFINITY 2. JAMMIES viciously subdued TEMUJIN in a popular 3 minute
brutal contest. And afterwards, Jammies pasted the infinity back together again.
Because we don't want any split infinities around here, they just look so untidy, you
can't imagine.
REDFOX (13-4197) (66-102-0,199) of CARDOW HUNTERS fought TOM RIDDLE (74-3501)
(43-43-3,165) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE. REDFOX was demolished by TOM RIDDLE in an action
packed 1 minute uneven bout. I think that Tom should do something nice for Redfox
now that he, meaning, you know, Tom, has got a winning record out of the whole deal.
Everyone tells me that having a winning record is very important.
CYLADIA (51-1122) (118-128-1,202) of SKAITHVARN fought GOSSAMER (35-3656) (36-
25-1,198) of PHILANTHROPISTS 2. CYLADIA devastated GOSSAMER in an action packed 2
minute one-sided bout. I think this must be on account of the cold hands. Cyladia's
cold hands. They're numb sometimes. And it's real easy to rip gossamer when your
hands are numb. I mean, did any of you ever try to take off sheer stockings, you
know, really sheer ones, not big old socks, after you've been skiing? Runs all over.
It never fails.
KELOS (55-30) (80-118-4,198) of ROCANIS RIDERS fought WAIS (65-6447) (37-50-
0,203) of DARK TOADS. KELOS was narrowly defeated by WAIS in a crowd pleasing 1
minute bloody fight. So, which one is narrow this time? Is Kelos narrow, or Wais?
I saw somebody who was narrow, once. Tudies mentioned Al, that's what Alarond said.
Flat as paper. It was gazebo. When they were coming and going, I could see them
fine, but when they went sideways, they just weren't there.
RIDDLER (61-1856) (62-46-1,190) of FEAR FACTORY fought DARLINA (74-2995) (54-47-
3,192) of SAND DANCERS. RIDDLER beat DARLINA in an exciting 5 minute brutal match.
Well, we all TOLD Darlina not to stay up late reading. It makes your mind foggy.
She probably needed an umbrella in it.
SMUG BUG (55-2900) (57-104-0,187) of RHYME TYME fought SUPERIOR FORCES (33-4543)
(82-127-2,186) of DUPLICATE REDUNDANCY. SMUG BUG was bested by SUPERIOR FORCES in a
popular 1 minute brawl. I really, really like to see the silly bug just pasted FLAT
on the wall. Smugness is just insuberable. In soverbull. In supper hell? It's
something I can't stand. You know.
LOPING WOLF (56-1796) (83-129-0,195) of REDHORSE fought GOLEM (35-1485) (61-45-
1,195) of THE PHILANTHROPISTS. LOPING WOLF was devastated by GOLEM in an exciting 1
minute bloody uneven duel. So is this the Golem that didn't do anything for the
title? Maybe it doesn't want the title, Maybe it just likes not having to write
anything. Some do. Or is it don't? Whatever.
ROYLAND (56-3380) (101-65-0,196) of REDHORSE fought PUNGENT STENCH (61-2458)
(34-22-1,174) of FEAR FACTORY. ROYLAND handily defeated PUNGENT STENCH in a popular
1 minute uneven fight. Well, okay, he's rude, but I admit that Royland does know how
to handle a bar of soap. Some don't.
ELVIS (7-612) (44-39-0,181) of THE ROCKERS fought RETROVIRUS (70-6086) (33-28-
0,187) of FEAR FACTORY IV. ELVIS outwaited RETROVIRUS in a crowd pleasing 8 minute
bout. This is the longest fight, and it wasn't really a fight. Retrovirus kept
making faces, and Elvis just sang about hound dogs and other neat stuff and offered
to buy everybody a fried banana sandwich. That's why the crowd loved it. It isn't
every day you can get a free fried banana sandwich.
BRAND (82-13289) (36-28-1,245) of TOADS OF AMBER III fought CORT NIGHTJEWEL (78-
196) (70-102-0,186) of THE DRAGON FIST. BRAND devastated CORT NIGHTJEWEL in an
exciting 2 minute brutal mismatched conflict. I know people SAY that Wais is the
only toad with a jewel in her head, but I bet Brand wants one, and he was trying to
get it. You think? I mean, he was... um, maybe I won't think about that. It was,
like, too gazebo. But I bet he was after the jewel.
TRYURLUCK (61-1029) (90-68-1,345) of BLOOD KNIGHTS fought MORTIFICATION (61-
2333) (41-31-4,199) of FEAR FACTORY. TRYURLUCK handily defeated MORTIFICATION in an
exciting 2 minute brutal one-sided bout. Handily means "with both hands." I asked
Olaf about that, because I kept seeing it in the notes, you know? And I thought it
meant, like, look, mom, no sword. But it's just the both hands thing.
HOUSE MOUSE (55-221) (144-201-2,256) of RHYME TYME fought WINSTON (75-2600) (50-
32-0,186) of DARK TOADS. HOUSE MOUSE viciously subdued WINSTON in a popular 3 minute
brutal fight. Oh, darn, another mouse. There are too many mouses here. Two is two
many. That's what it SAYS, right? Two many.
MILA (55-29) (90-113-0,215) of ROCANIS RIDERS fought FUNNY BUNNY (55-1862) (120-
146-1,208) of RHYME TYME. MILA lost to FUNNY BUNNY in an action packed 1 minute
fight. I thought of a couple of really funny things to say about Mila, but Larkin,
who was SUPPOSED to go home to Lirith Kai, is looking over my shoulder, well, he DID
bring me a fresh drink with pineapple and an umbrella, and anyway, he won't let me
say them here. What a party pooper.
KYRLANIA (70-2327) (90-110-1,278) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought DRACO MALFOY (74-
3500) (55-22-1,205) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE. KYRLANIA lost to DRACO MALFOY in an action
packed 1 minute duel. Draco's been studying really hard to get good, you know, and
Kyrlania just wasn't paying attention, and that's what happens.
JELIAH BIGABO (35-3676) (35-15-2,211) of PHILANTHROPISTS 3 fought TEXAS GLITTER
(35-3509) (36-23-0,197) of EXACTLY! JELIAH BIGABO devastated TEXAS GLITTER in a 1
minute one-sided competition. Look, I don't get this. I mean, I've been to Texas,
right? And it doesn't glitter. It's just sand and trees with thorns, and cows.
BAT (74-2742) (101-93-1,267) of DARKLINGS fought JON SNOW (78-2389) (28-9-2,183)
of DARK TOADS. BAT defeated JON SNOW in an exciting 2 minute struggle. He flew into
his hair and went "chitter, chitter" the way bats do but most people can't hear it,
except maybe toads can?
NIGHTCAP (74-2745) (91-102-0,242) of DARKLINGS fought 3 FISTED RAT BOY (70-6130)
(33-39-3,221) of GWAR. NIGHTCAP bested 3 FISTED RAT BOY in an action packed 1 minute
brawl. I never knew what people meant by pulling wool over someone's eyes, I thought
it was with sheep, but Nightcap did this with just a stocking cap. Gazebo!
Three challenge matches, right here: GREGORY GOYLE (74-3497) (41-45-1,143) of
SLYTHERIN HOUSE challenged WE LIKE THE MOON (25-5013) (33-19-4,144) of SPONGMONKEYS.
Up 1. GREGORY GOYLE bested WE LIKE THE MOON in a 2 minute Challenge contest. This
was, like, JUST the right time for it, because of the moon being dark today. And
it's not only dark today, it won't be around tonight at all.
VINCENT CRABBE (74-3498) (46-41-2,192) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE challenged JULIUS (64-
3641) (93-114-2,192) of UNDER DURESS. Straight across. VINCENT CRABBE was
demolished by JULIUS in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge melee. This is the "I have
more experience than, you know, you do" thing. And duress, all over the place.
DARTMAN (33-7161) (40-16-3,212) of COLGATE DAYS challenged TAIRIKIA (51-4247)
(100-89-1,314) of SAND DANCERS. Up 102. DARTMAN viciously subdued TAIRIKIA in a
crowd pleasing 1 minute Challenge fight. Wow! Totally tubular.
And for the title: NIGHTFALL (74-2421) (125-105-4,288) of DARKLINGS fought
BLEYS (82-13278) (26-14-2,216) of TOADS OF AMBER. Just random, you see. NIGHTFALL
defeated BLEYS in an exciting 2 minute Title fight. But you can tell that Bleys is
good and will be, like, Lord Marshall himself some day, because the fight wasn't one-
