Reflections by the Lord-Marshall
We were going to put in both columns, because somebody found the first one, but
somebody in the Commission office got upset, I don't know why. They do this stuff.
I'm going to revamp my column from last turn, as it did not get printed. A scribe at
the Gladiatorial Commission ate a sandwich over the scroll, essentially using it as a
placemat. Meatball subs and parchment paper don't go well... In a tirade reminisent
of Nero's burning of Rome, Caesar inappropriately blasted the GC management team...
They have since offered up the scribe as a sacrifice for the Temple of Caesar. The
Hight Priest, Trebonius the Magnificent, is sharpening his daggers back in Arvat in
anticipation... Anyway, here we go:
Wow! Dartman must have felt like I fell out of the heavens and landed on top of him.
Actually, I feel bad about taking the titole from him, as he is a friend and ally.
And we didn't give him any advance notice either... Must be the Roman in me: Power,
Absolute Power, Despotism, Tyranny, Dictatorships for life, More, More, More, etc.
Caesar can always sell this to the Dark ONe as "I haven't had a title in a million
years. At least it remained withing the alliance." And the Dark One wins too much
anyway, so it is good for his inflated ego to be knocked down a few pegs. :)
It feels great to have a number one spot anywhere at this point. Since Caesar's
return from five years in exile, we haven't been very successful on any front. And
in Primus, I was simply another nobody at the bottom of the ranks, struggling to
launch off challenges against the likes of Billiage Idiot, Violent Fury, House Mouse
and other old bones in return for robust skill learns. And wishing I had more avoids
so I could stay clear of the sharks above (and below!) me. Primus is not a fun place
to be and I'm quite content at being back here in the Free Blades arena. Plus there
was that terrible hazing experience... And the condo prices were worse than New
Youk... Wait New York? Where is that? Isn't that near the vicinity of Zuwayza? Now
if I could only find a way to get back to Arvat... Then I could become Duelmaster for
Life and hold the title forever... And kill of some of Destitute Noble's guys... We
always enjoy doing that.
We Romans have been actively involved with Free Blades on and off since turn 1 and we
are prous to boast tat we are Team Id #17 here. Many a Roman has held this slot,
most notably Cassius, who had quite a long run here, Caesar's best title winning
streak here. And now, alas, yonder Cassius is just another struggling Primus
warrior, longing for the fall of the Aimed Blow style and dreaming of some
alternative form of play where he can compete on a more level playing field...
I must also use this "bully pulpit" as a shameless forum to plug my home city of
Arvat. Humid marshlands, giant crocodiles and swarms of mosquitoes aside, Arvat is
gaining momentum as the flagship city of the Free Blades realm. If you are looking
for a place to hang your hat, low proprety taxes, cheap labor, rock bottom
construction costs and a great bar scene and nightlife, than look no further: Arvat
is the place for you! The focus is on the local arena play, ther are plenty of awful
Roman newbies to beat on, many great managers reside ther and it is growing fast with
lots of activity.
And the cheesy spy reporter thought I wouldn't write a column. What little does she
know about us Romans! And leave my dull witted comrade Claudius alnone! He is
blessed in other ways and may be here atop the ranks in another ten years... And that
Debby T. Has really packed on the pounds over the years and looks like she has some
mileage on here. Perhaps it is time for the Lady Greywand to replace her with a
perky new bleach blonde bubblehead reporter.
Last turns challenges went out to Funny Bunny and Redfox. Sure wish I could
challenge down further, like to the Arvat Initiates bracket... Two old losers (hey,
heir records speak for themselves!) and fellow srikers were granted challenges.
Redfox didn't have the juice, and was vanquished in one minute. Sure wish I could et
my last Will train... Seems like I've tried a million times. Perhaps this turn when
I challenge Nightcap and Funny Bunny. Avoids go out to the Aimed Blows. I really
hate Aimed Blows, in particular due to their little open hand glitch.
I'm quite pleased to be back and if you don't see me next turn, that doesn't mean
that you have seen the last of me! To quote the not so legendary Darius, our first
ever inductee to the Isle of the Eye: "Strike fast and strike last! It's the only
way to win!" Well... at least if you're a Striker... But wasn't he a Lunger???

REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
I'm late, so this has to be fast. Because of shopping, you know? That's why
I'm late. Well, and other stuff, but shopping was a big part of it. And the fog.
So anyway, here we are with, like, a spy report.
The Lord Marshall got the most challenges, and one of the office scribes slipped
me a note that says there were five of them. Totally tubular! Fear Factory got
avoided most, by I, Claudius.
We had thirty-six fights, with only one standby! That is SOOO good! And eight
of them were action packed, and six were exciting, so that's better than even the few
that Andorak did have. Nobody died, which is good. Dying is, like, a total drag.
FIFTEEN challenges, one tv and the rest radio.
This is all great!
So, here ARE the fights:
DRIZZT (40-4146) (20-17-0,80) of PHILANTHROPISTS fought LU-LIGHTNING (13-4900)
(19-10-1,67) of KIRKWOOD 1. DRIZZT was overcome by LU-LIGHTNING in an exciting 1
minute duel. I guess Lu is a real "hotshot," hmm? Even when it rains. And you
know, have you ever thought about maybe drizzt is what it sounds like when lightning
hits? I mean, when it doesn't sound lots worse.
PITSPAWN FOULDOG (61-3121) (19-14-1,44) of FEAR FACTORY fought ROSELLA (103-39)
(26-25-0,100) of the College of Mimes. PITSPAWN FOULDOG overpowered ROSELLA in a
crowd pleasing 1 minute one-sided duel. This was the only standby today, and she's
mad, sou watch out, Pitspawn. She didn't want to come out at all today, she said it
wasn't the holiday thing, you know? And then you beat her, besides. I mean, it was
perfectly fair, she just didn't like it, and now everyone in the Commission office
has to hear about it.
MARILYN MANSON (61-1993) (37-26-2,150) of FEAR FACTORY fought JAVELINO (56-3728)
(35-40-0,102) of REDHORSE. MARILYN MANSON luckily beat JAVELINO in a popular 3
minute duel. She punched him in the nose.
CANNIBAL CORPSE (61-2373) (29-30-4,133) of FEAR FACTORY fought SISSY CHRISSY
(29-1347) (32-26-3,117) of STREET WALKERS. CANNIBAL CORPSE overpowered SISSY CHRISSY
in a 1 minute one-sided match. But since Sissy didn't die, Cannibal can't eat her,
because he only eats corpses, right? So he'll just have to eat steak, which is part
of the corpse of a cow. Euwh, I wish I hadn't thought of that.
SERIAL MURDERER (9-990) (25-30-0,117) of THE MONGOLOIDS fought KNUCKLE JAW (77-
2129) (44-50-2,138) of GWAR. SERIAL MURDERER luckily beat KNUCKLE JAW in an exciting
4 minute gruesome struggle. But again, no death, so we're doing okay here.
FLATTUS MAXIMUS (77-2125) (47-48-2,157) of GWAR fought NOREASTER (35-3896) (21-
5-1,134) of DIRT DEVILS. FLATTUS MAXIMUS was vanquished by NOREASTER in an exciting
1 minute mismatched fight. I think this one was kind of funny, but if I explain it,
then it'll just be flat, right? You can probably figure out why I laughed. I mean,
it wasn't, you know, sophisticated, but you can't be sophisticated when you do a spy
report. It's the wrong flavor.
3 FISTED RAT BOY (70-6130) (37-50-3,192) of GWAR fought CORT NIGHTJEWEL (78-196)
(76-113-0,179) of THE DRAGON FIST. 3 FISTED RAT BOY was overcome by CORT NIGHTJEWEL
in a crowd pleasing 1 minute match. Now, this is just too bad, except that maybe if
Cort gets enough wins, he'll be inducted. They say everybody would be inducted
eventually, if they'd just keep fighting. But if everybody was fighting, or even
just here on the Isle, it would be totally sardine-city.
KIMO (70-6089) (38-37-4,189) of FEAR FACTORY IV fought DARLINA (74-2995) (58-60-
3,205) of SAND DANCERS. KIMO was overpowered by DARLINA in an exciting 1 minute gory
one-sided fight. Well, I guess this was only a little exciting, but it was really
gory.
PROPANE TORCH (61-2524) (35-32-1,191) of FEAR FACTORY fought VINCENT CRABBE (74-
3498) (54-50-2,205) of SLYTHERIN HOUSE. PROPANE TORCH was beaten by VINCENT CRABBE
in a 2 minute match. There's a note here on the notes that says "He's in-Vincent-
able." Is that a word? I mean, okay, I didn't ever study in school, but I'm not
DUMB, you know.
MORTIFICATION (61-2333) (47-40-4,205) of FEAR FACTORY fought LOPING WOLF (56-
1796) (88-141-0,180) of REDHORSE. MORTIFICATION defeated LOPING WOLF in an action
packed 4 minute gory duel. Now he's, you know, Hopping Wolf.
GOLEM (35-1485) (70-52-1,198) of THE PHILANTHROPISTS fought NINE INCH NAIL (61-
2273) (36-30-3,181) of FEAR FACTORY. GOLEM handily defeated NINE INCH NAIL in a
popular 1 minute one-sided duel. I guess a golem is a kind of hammer? Well, not
always, but sometimes. Or maybe it's that a hammer is a kind of golem, so you don't
have to hit the nail with your hand.
KELOS (55-30) (87-128-4,188) of ROCANIS RIDERS fought WRATH OF ONE (82-11628)
(28-21-2,190) of LUROCIANS XII. KELOS luckily beat WRATH OF ONE in a 2 minute brutal
fray. Well, yeah, but what if there had been wrath of TWO?
JELIAH BIGABO (35-3676) (44-22-2,183) of PHILANTHROPISTS 3 fought NIGHTFALL (74-
2421) (139-108-4,185) of DARKLINGS. JELIAH BIGABO demolished NIGHTFALL in an action
packed 2 minute one-sided melee. So now we have more day! Actually, I guess maybe
we do, because of the solstice.
LA PEUX (49-3208) (42-47-1,188) of GHOST BEARS fought THE QUICKLING (70-1669)
(71-158-2,177) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. LA PEUX overpowered THE QUICKLING in a popular 1
minute one-sided duel. Good going, Le, but remember, even Redfox can beat the
Quickling sometimes, so don't get too excited, okay?
NIGHTCAP (74-2745) (104-106-0,219) of DARKLINGS fought RILLION (36-5545) (42-28-
1,191) of THE CHADS. NIGHTCAP demolished RILLION in an action packed 2 minute brutal
one-sided fight. He just punched him full of holes!
TAIRIKIA (51-4247) (114-92-2,218) of SAND DANCERS fought ROYLAND (56-3380) (112-
71-0,191) of REDHORSE. TAIRIKIA was handily defeated by ROYLAND in a 1 minute one-
sided contest. And she's probably mad about it, because of Royland being so rude.
FUNNY BUNNY (55-1862) (132-151-2,234) of RHYME TYME fought T-BONE (13-3139) (37-
24-0,187) of LEGION OF DUMB. FUNNY BUNNY was savagely defeated by T-BONE in an
action packed 2 minute gruesome bout. Oh, hey, this is so GOOD, this is TOTALLY
TUBULAR! I just love it when stuff like this happens. I mean, I am so tired of
listening to the Bunny tell the same old jokes!
SUPERIOR FORCES (33-4543) (94-132-2,232) of DUPLICATE REDUNDANCY fought REDFOX
(13-4197) (72-113-0,194) of CARDOW HUNTERS. SUPERIOR FORCES devastated REDFOX in an
action packed 1 minute one-sided bout. So, what else is new?
PUNGENT STENCH (61-2458) (42-29-1,215) of FEAR FACTORY fought JULIUS (64-3641)
(107-117-2,198) of UNDER DURESS. PUNGENT STENCH beat JULIUS in a crowd pleasing 4
minute bloody fight. I TOLD Julius, LOTS of times, put vics up your nose before the
fight. But does he listen? Never!
JAMMIES (74-2829) (94-89-1,219) of DARKLINGS fought VICIOUS VIVIAN (29-1298)
(32-32-3,191) of STREET WALKERS. JAMMIES overpowered VICIOUS VIVIAN in an exciting 1
minute brutal one-sided bout. Gosh, I didn't think Jammies was that kind of guy. He
must be spending too much time with Royland.
KYRLANIA (70-2327) (101-116-1,222) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought RIDDLER (61-1856)
(70-53-1,183) of FEAR FACTORY. KYRLANIA handily defeated RIDDLER in a crowd pleasing
4 minute bloody mismatched bout. I really don't understand why the crowd was
pleased. I mean, sometimes it's just a puzzle, you know?

6252) (40-71-0,71) of MIDDLE WAY. Up 8. COMRADE KOOK was overpowered by MOUSE NOYLE
in a 1 minute uneven Challenge struggle. Gosh, Comrade, couldn't you have cut off
his tail, or something? Or struck a clock?
REPREHENSIBLE (82-27850) (2-3-0,69) of THE BROTHERHOOD 91 challenged SISTER X
(12-6340) (19-8-0,78) of CULTS-R-US. Up 9. REPREHENSIBLE was handily defeated by
SISTER X in a 1 minute Challenge conflict. Wow, this culting must be better than I
thought. Um, I suppose Rep is a tourney fighter? Because, you know, five fights
doesn't look like much.
SANGUINE (40-4135) (17-4-1,100) of BLOOD ANGELS challenged MIMOSA (32-4294) (17-
10-0,96) of PHILANTHROPISTS. Down 4. SANGUINE demolished MIMOSA in a 1 minute one-
sided Challenge brawl. Splinters, that's all that's left, splinters and thorns. And
the umbrella.
BIONIC BUFFALO (11-6570) (24-8-0,114) of DO IT AGAIN challenged MUDVAYNE (61-
3039) (24-20-0,147) of FEAR FACTORY. Up 33. BIONIC BUFFALO handily defeated
MUDVAYNE in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge contest. Well... okay.
THORIK (17-3125) (18-10-0,137) of STEEL WOLVES challenged GRETH (32-4321) (19-7-
1,150) of RILL'S GCSC2. Up 13. THORIK was overpowered by GRETH in a 1 minute one-
sided Challenge match. Um... "Good for you, Greth"? Sometimes I start to write a
comment and nothing comes.
SCOOBY DOOM (12-6021) (22-8-1,179) of HOUNDS OF HELL challenged DAMORETH STENN
(65-6105) (61-77-1,159) of SAND DANCERS. Down 20. SCOOBY DOOM defeated DAMORETH
STENN in an action packed 1 minute gory Challenge match. Everybody does this. It
doesn't PROVE anything.
REQUIEM (11-4472) (26-19-0,172) of BALLAD OF THE BLADE challenged ERIN (16-4165)
(26-21-1,180) of AARON'S ANGELS. Up 8. REQUIEM won victory over ERIN in a popular 1
minute Challenge duel. But the music was very good.
CLAUDIUS (13-2860) (41-30-2,168) of I, CLAUDIUS challenged COERCE (78-1577) (29-
24-1,150) of FEAR FACTORY. Down 18. CLAUDIUS was unbelievably bested by COERCE in
an action packed 2 minute Challenge duel. Why are we supposed to not believe this?
I don't get that. How can we not believe things that we see happen right in front of
us?
SAMARIUM (75-3071) (29-15-1,198) of I AM SAM challenged HIMEY THE PIMP (29-730)
(41-33-1,201) of STREET WALKERS. Up 3. SAMARIUM slimly lost to HIMEY THE PIMP in an
action packed 6 minute Challenge fight. Mphngmmffph! Darn, sometimes the scribes
just really won't let me say stuff. But at least they wash their hands.
KAZMOGORATH (70-972) (26-8-1,200) of ANCIENT LORDS challenged GOSSAMER (35-3656)
(43-34-1,196) of PHILANTHROPISTS 2. Down 4. KAZMOGORATH was devastated by GOSSAMER
in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge match. This would be easier to understand if
Gossamer was a woman, you know. Maybe an elfess, with those clothes that are made
out of veils.
RETROVIRUS (70-6086) (43-33-0,196) of FEAR FACTORY IV challenged SMUG BUG (55-
2900) (61-117-0,199) of RHYME TYME. Up 3. RETROVIRUS devastated SMUG BUG in a 1
minute one-sided Challenge duel. Good! I knew there would be SoMETHING that would
get bugs down. Do it some more. I hate bugs. I mean, sure, I know some are useful
and important to farmers and all, but THEY aren't smug, they're too busy working
hard.
KING LOVE (40-3748) (51-40-2,264) of GARDEN OF HORRORS challenged TRYURLUCK (61-
1029) (102-73-1,273) of BLOOD KNIGHTS. Up 9. KING LOVE savagely defeated TRYURLUCK
in an exciting 3 minute bloody Challenge fight. This is kind of like, "Make love not
war," but with swords anyway.
NEBUCHADNEZZAR (22-5821) (50-47-0,240) of BLADES OF WONDER challenged VICTIM OF
SOCIETY (55-3179) (48-42-2,220) of PHILANTHROPISTS. Down 20. And we're down to one
Neb, too. I don't know what happened to the other one. NEBUCHADNEZZAR won victory
over VICTIM OF SOCIETY in a 2 minute Challenge brawl. And now the Victim really
feels like a victim. This is important. It's very simmilotube.
DARTMAN (33-7161) (46-20-3,191) of COLGATE DAYS TV challenged BUD THE SPUD (29-
1300) (39-28-2,206) of STREET WALKERS. Up 15, and TV besides! Great, Dartman!
DARTMAN devastated BUD THE SPUD in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge fight. Mashed
potatoes. Probably one of those things.
And for the title of being Lord Marshall: ALVIN (16-3927) (44-23-1,213) of
AARON'S ANGELS challenged ROMULUS (32-3047) (60-46-3,261) of ROMAN HEROES. Up 48 or
so. ALVIN was overcome by ROMULUS in a popular 2 minute Challenge Title match.
Alvin, I think it's just wonderful that you challenged the Lord Marshall, and when
they let you out of the Infirmary, I'll buy you a drink. Of juice, because of your
health. And Romulus, you're wonderful TOO! Isn't that great? And you wrote a
column, thanks!

ANNOUNCING THE NO-TOURNAMENT ARENA (81)
As an American I honor my cultural heritage by stealing any good idea. This idea was
originally proposed by Lord Xiang in November 2005. RSI will be opening the arena
(81) for teams willing to sign the following pledge:
* I pledge that I will not send warriors from this arena to a Tournament, nor will I
use a Tournament prize on a warrior from this arena.
* I pledge to run a full team when I run turns in this arena. If circumstances
preclude my running less than a full team I will notify the Player Committee.
* I agree to abide by the decisions of the Player Committee.
* I understand that any warrior that participates in a Tournament shall be sent to
the Dark Arena until they are dead.
* I understand that any warrior that receives a Tournament prize shall be send to
the Dark Arena until they are dead.
The following are the rules for joining this No-Tournament arena
1. No tournament play for warriors in this arena (Dead tournament or otherwise).
2. One team per manager.
3. Teams start with new rollup (or a zero fight equivalent team is transferred into
this arena.)
4. No tourney prizes allowed to modify warriors in the arena.
5. Twenty teams required, per RSI.
6. Waivers are required to allow self-regulation on tourney ban, granting RSI
authority to Dark Arena any warrior that participates in a Tournament (until the
warrior is dead).
7. Rotating council to enforce tourney ban and maintain arena integrity.
The main purpose of the Player Committee is to maintain fair play in the arena:
* Warriors that participate in Tournaments will be sent to the Dark Arena until they
are dead. This means that the Player Committee has the power to send another
player's warrior to the Dark Arena
* Managers that abuse the rules of the Arena may be banned/transferred from the
Arena.
The player with the most votes for Chairman will fill slot 1 [Chairperson] and that
term expires end of March 2007.
The player with the most votes overall will fill slot 5 and that term expires end of
November 2007.
The player with the second most votes overall will fill slot 4 and that term expires
end of September 2007.
The player with the third most votes overall will fill slot 3 and that term expires
end of November 2007.
The player with the fourth most votes overall will fill slot 2 and that term expires
end of May 2007.
During the month that the chairperson's term expires the Player Committee will select
one of the remaining 4 players to be the next chairperson. During the month that any
member's term expires the arena will vote for a different player to join the Players'
Committee.

The first team to reach 10 Team Kills. In the case that there is more than one
team that achieves 10 Team Kills on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the team
with the most kills. If two or more teams are tied for Team Kills, I will prolong
the contest until one team has the most Kills in the Arena (it does not have to be
one of the teams that first reached 10 Team Kills.)
The Race to Victory Award:
The first team to reach 75 Team Wins. In the case that there is more than one
team that reaches 75 Team wins on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the team
with the most wins. If two or more teams are tied for Team Wins, I will prolong the
contest until one team has the most wins in the Arena (it does not have to be one of
the teams that first reached 75 Team Wins.)
The Commitment to Change Award:
The first team to reach 125 Team Fights. In the case that there is more than
one team that reaches 125 Team Fights on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the
team with the most fights. If two or more teams are tied for Team Fights, I will
prolong the contest until one team has the most fights in the Arena (it does not have
to be one of the teams that first reached 125 Team Fights.) I hope I never give out
this award {figure it out on your own.}
The Team Advancement Award:
The first team to graduate 5 warriors to ADM. In the case that there is more
than 1 team that graduates 5 warriors on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the
first team to graduate 6 warriors. In the case that there is more than 1 team that
graduates 6 warriors on the same turn, I will pay the Award to the first team to
graduate 7 warriors, and so on.
The Iron Throne Award:
The first team to hold the Duelmaster for 10 turns STARTING ON TURN 11.
The Stylemaster Award.
The first team to hold the Stylemaster Award in 7 different styles, STARTING ON
TURN 11. If two teams obtain Stylemaster Awards in 7 styles on the same turn, the
goal will be increased to 8 Styles.
Team Recognition Points: The total recognition points for all warriors in the arena
The Iron Throne Ledger: We will track who has been the Duelmaster every turn in
Arena history.
Iron Throne Counter: The total number of times a team has been the Duelmaster.
Composite Team Stylemaster awards: The number of times a team has had any of the 10
Stylemasters. Having 2 Stylemasters = 2 points that turn.
Challenge win percentage: How often your warriors win when they challenge.
Challenge Defender rate: How often your warriors win when they WERE challenged.
Team Invitations: Number of warriors graduated to ADM.
Team Graduation Rate: Total team fights/Graduated Warriors.
Team Kill Percentage: Total of team Kills/Team Fights
Team Death Percentage: Total of Team Deaths/Team Fights
Team Revenge Rate: Number of Deaths/BloodFeuds Revenged (Note that the Dark Arena
will be counted as not-revenged.) You only get credit for one successful
BloodFeud per death (though I encourage you to BloodFeud all 4 turns.)
Current Win Streaks: Warriors that have gone the most turns without losing or
missing a turn.
Team Yahtzee counter: Number of times a team has gone 5-0 in a turn.
Team Bagel counter: Number of times a team has fought without a win.
Team Dark Arena counter: Number of times each team has used the Dark Arena.
The Most Feared (avoided) Team counter: Number of turns that team was the most
avoided team.
