Reflections by the Lord-Marshall
Don't you hate it when Lady Greywand starts the fight by hurling lightning into
the sky? Although she did look kind of grand, didn't she? Standing tall in her sky-
blue robe, pointing at the sky with that funny little twisted stick. Did she really
hurl the lightning, or did she call it to her from the sky? Could've been either--it
was too fast to tell where it started. I've heard that lightning does sometimes
strike from a blue sky (which this was) and that it is ten times as deadly as the
regular kind. What does that make Lady Greywand, who stands under it for a show?
Tougher than me! Someone I wouldn't want to mess with.
I fought Gary M. Reaper last turn. He was fast, and slippery, and skilled.
Wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley. In a bar, fine. At a birthday party, no
problem. When you think about it, how many of your friends and acquaintances WOULD
you care to meet in a dark alley? I mean, what are they up to in that alley? What
are YOU up to in the alley, hm? I know what I would be doing in a dark alley:
apprehending miscreants, since I AM the Lord-Marshall. I've lurked in a few dark
alleys for that purpose, but all I've caught are illegal urinators. And I'll tell
you this: The constables won't lock someone up for doing that. They just shake
their heads.
I have very little more to say. Stay out of dark alleys, and always use the
toilet.

REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
I'm glad that Nightcap writes a column. And cleans up the neighborhood around
the arena. And all that stuff. And I'm glad he cares about how he dresses. But,
you know, that's just TOO MUCH clothes. How can he get a tan, if he's all covered
up?
Maybe Jorja should let some of HER Adantri run, and they can, like, compete in
fashion?
Treefrog won a fight and had the biggest point gain: 32 points. It was S. Mary
Rose who lost, and she had the biggest drop: 28 points. This isn't, like, the first
time they fought, but it doesn't usually come out like this.
On the Rocks was avoided by Army of Darkness. Other managers MIGHT have thought
of avoiding more, but they didn't act, just the Dark One. Their loss. I mean,
avoiding makes a difference, sometimes.
Gazelle got the most challenges, which I figure means probably two. Because
why? Because there were only three challenge fights at ALL. This is not so good. I
mean, it's almost like you guys didn't CARE.
Well, anyway, we had sixteen fights. Two involved standbys, one was action
packed, one was exciting, and three were challenges.
And just for a personal note here, did you know that if you put tomato juice in
a green glass, it looks very strange? Even putting an umbrella in it doesn't help.
KING COREY (43-4620) (30-24-1,127) of LUROCIAN ROYALTY fought XHUGHA KARGARIT
(103-38) (32-28-1,130) of the College of Mimes. KING COREY was overpowered by XHUGHA
KARGARIT in a 1 minute mismatched brawl. That's got to be embarrassing.
SAVORY (32-4143) (39-37-1,176) of DEAD WE SUCK fought MOSSROCK (15-4871) (43-50-
2,109) of GREENWARDENS. SAVORY devastated MOSSROCK in a 1 minute uneven duel. Well,
I'd have been surprised if he DIDN'T devastate Mossy, considering.
CONTROVERSY (64-3914) (48-55-1,166) of UNDER DURESS fought WOODEN ARROW (15-
4619) (34-44-0,139) of GREENWARDENS. CONTROVERSY overpowered WOODEN ARROW in a 1
minute one-sided duel. Things just keep happening the way everyone expects, even
when everyone isn't paying attention. It's almost depressing.
S. MARY ROSE (78-2313) (68-79-2,178) of HABIT fought TREEFROG (15-4177) (30-45-
0,141) of GREENWARDENS. S. MARY ROSE was devastated by TREEFROG in a crowd pleasing
1 minute mismatched bout. This is where the biggest point changes came in. You knew
that, didn't you?
FLESH RIPPER (74-3375) (32-16-1,207) of LUROCIANS XI fought STUMP (15-4882) (32-
70-0,177) of GREENWARDENS. FLESH RIPPER handily defeated STUMP in a 2 minute brutal
one-sided contest. Do stumps even HAVE flesh? I thought it was all wood and
funguses.
ARGUMENT (64-3915) (44-59-0,198) of UNDER DURESS fought ARUNDA ROCKTROLL (103-
35) (60-40-2,190) of the College of Mimes. ARGUMENT was luckily beaten by ARUNDA
ROCKTROLL in an exciting 4 minute bloody match. And that's the second standby, and
they BOTH won.
MACHINE (56-3795) (44-40-0,200) of DIRTIE fought REDTHORN (15-4943) (34-38-
0,180) of GREENWARDENS. MACHINE overpowered REDTHORN in a popular 1 minute uneven
match. Yep, just keeps happening. I bet the Greenwardens would be GLAD to retire
and let someone else step in at the Split.
GARY M. REAPER (32-2502) (73-44-1,210) of DEVIL ADVOCATES fought WHITEBRAID (15-
2110) (41-70-1,170) of GREENWARDENS. GARY M. REAPER won victory over WHITEBRAID in a
popular 2 minute duel. You'd think, or anyway I'd think, that the handicapper could
come up with something more like even, wouldn't you?
KOOKABURRA (33-4151) (137-180-5,202) of GIRL SCOUT COOKIES fought SERGE (32-
3549) (47-53-0,188) of ASSORTED. KOOKABURRA vanquished SERGE in a 1 minute one-sided
duel. Really, what can I say that I haven't said over and over again? It's
albendranious.
LORD FIREFLASH (33-2966) (59-55-1,190) of LUROCIANS II fought SEKHAT (7-2251)
(50-93-2,179) of CASTAWAYS. LORD FIREFLASH handily defeated SEKHAT in an action
packed 1 minute uneven fight. It must be hard to be a cat and not be allowed to bite
and claw.
RED BARON (33-1092) (65-63-3,208) of LUROCIANS II fought SANDMAN (74-2896) (66-
93-3,181) of DARKLINGS. RED BARON beat SANDMAN in a 2 minute brawl. Now, this one
did not surprise me. I mean, you know how a pizza with everything AND the kitchen
sink can keep you from sleeping.
SMUG BUG (55-2900) (121-193-0,227) of RHYME TYME fought SLEEPWALKER (74-2843)
(61-114-1,184) of DARKLINGS. SMUG BUG devastated SLEEPWALKER in a crowd pleasing 1
minute one-sided duel. Don't you just hate that smug smile?
REM (74-2853) (99-72-0,273) of DARKLINGS fought MARTIN BLANK (82-28434) (41-12-
0,199) of BLOOD TITANS. REM was overpowered by MARTIN BLANK in a 1 minute mismatched
match. You've got to move more than just your eyes to stay out of his reach.

is absolutely what you get.

My ensemble shall not be lacking. I shall be... The Crimson Emperor! (which is
actually a character in a famous Adantri play) All monochrome, which is considered a
bit gauche back in the homeland, but spectators on the Isle go for that sort of
thing. Or mostly monochrome, because Adantri fashion sensibilities just can't be
ignored completely. My boots are dark red leather to just below the knees, the tops
turned down to reveal the sky-blue lining. My red silk hotora is tattered, as though
it had been shredded to ribbons, fluttering when I move, revealing an inner layer of
sky-blue. My shirt is blue and white houndstooth, the houndsteeth edged in red, and
over it I wear a kichai of red wool shading to red-violet and then purple as it
reaches my shoulders. My belt is the same red leather as my booths, but inlaid with
porcelain ovals showing delicately painted red and blue birds. And my glorious,
wide-brimmed had is red, with a purple band and sixteen flowing white feathers! And
a red one. I look very swashbuckly, do I not? Which the Crimson Emperor definitely
