Reflections by the Keeper of the Runeblade
Woo hoo!
I mean, hello! Isn't this exciting! I've never been a Duelmaster before. Or,
you know, a Keeper of the Runeblade. Which is a creepy sword, by the way. The
writing on it looks like spiders' legs. And it's hard to read, anyway, because the
metal is black, and so is the writing. You have to hold it at a certain angle to the
light. And then it looks like spiders got dismembered on it.
Lady Greywand did the lightning flash as a sign of approval. That startled the
heck out of me. If she thinks it's so cute, she should do it to herself. Or have
one of her mage students surprise her with it.
But there's good stuff about being up here. The Cupcake Lady, for example. She
brings a basket of cupcakes to every new Duelmaster (Keeper of the Runeblade). Did
you know that? I like the lemon ones with the pink frosting best.
And I got interviewed for the Talahya Times. I guess they've done, like,
thousands of this kind of interview over the years, but you can say whatever you
want, so I talked about saving Gaia. You know, last week I saw a gladiator throw
away a tamale wrapper. Just threw it right on the street. And it was nasty and
greasy, and still had chunks of cornmeal on it. Nobody wants to see that. Gaia
doesn't want to see it, or absorb it into the soil, because it's salty. You have to
think about the best way to dispose of things like that. I think you should eat
them. Your body will absorb the salt, and what comes out will be okay for the soil.
Or you could feed it to pigs, and let them turn it into pig poo. So I've put a big
barrel near the main entrance to the arena. Anything you would just throw away, put
it in there and it will be fed to the pigs. Okay?
Last turn I fought ??Radar?? and that's how I won this honor. Because my
will is strong! I didn't mean to hurt him so badly though. But he hit me in the,
um, in the ta-ta. I'm fond of my ta-tas. And I kind of went berserk-o on him.
Sorry guy, no hard feelings.
I have to go now. Don't know if I'll be up here next time, or not. But until
then, put your trash in the barrel, okay? Except nothing that would hurt the pigs.
If you have something you want to throw away that wouldn't be good for pigs, um...
throw it in the lake.

140-3,192) of JOHNS. CRYSOPRASE bested MARK in a crowd pleasing 2 minute Title
fight. Well, this may be good news. This IS good news, because we'll probably see
another column. Anyway, Crysoprase is our top Parry-Striker. Perhaps our ONLY
Parry-Striker?
TASHI'SINDAR (1-3249) (79-57-3,199) of STORM RIDERS II fought ??RADAR?? (82-
20310) (101-102-1,196) of DYSLEXICS UNTIE! II. TASHI'SINDAR was slaughtered by
??RADAR?? in a 1 minute mismatched fight. ??Radar?? is still our top Wall of steel,
and, disturbingly, he remains our Overall Popularity leader. I don't think he won
any points this turn, though. Do managers watch the fights? Some do, and they might
have approved of the murderous gleam in ??Radar??'s eyes. But these days, the
majority of the spectators here are peaceful fishermen and their families. They're
not as keen on seeing people die. I saw several concerned parents covering their
young children's eyes. Anyway, you know I don't do deathday gifts, but I do send
Tashi'Sindar my sympathy. And I almost sent a bottle of aspirin, but you know how
that goes. Send aspirins, and the next thing you know, the recently dead are
comparing the cost of their gifts and getting feelings hurt, and it starts to
escalate. Even though Tashi'Sindar died this turn, he is our top Lunger.
You see, they should have been picking oranges, but instead they were lounging
around, picking their teeth. ELAYRON (51-1492) (88-62-0,208) of BLOOD + ORANGES
fought MEN WORKING (38-4189) (69-226-1,181) of JUST BECAUSE. ELAYRON overpowered MEN
WORKING in a popular 1 minute mismatched brawl. Elayron is our top Parry-Lunger, and
Men Working is (are) our top Basher.
SPUTTERBUZZ (6-5810) (27-20-0,197) of TACKLE BOX fought MIKEL (6-6190) (33-32-
3,162) of THE LADY'S LIST. SPUTTERBUZZ subdued MIKEL in a crowd pleasing 2 minute
competition. Sput is our top Total Parry, so I expected a longer fight, but I guess
Mikel had other places to be.
Our least popular fighter this turn was one of the Hoffas, but another Hoffa
made the positive popularity list.
Least Popular: HANK (51-5574) (20-4-4,74) of VENTURE BROS. fought HOFFA (5-
4299) (18-70-0,45) of JOHNS. HANK vanquished HOFFA in a 1 minute one-sided fray.

5215) (45-38-5,179) of THE LADY'S LIST. JAMMY LARKE slimly won victory over CLIVE in
a popular 2 minute fight.
Hmm. Top Slasher is Lennon. LENNON (5-4087) (35-32-1,188) of JOHNS fought
TOLAIS DEEPHEART (42-1620) (125-137-0,193) of HIGHLANDERS. LENNON was demolished by
TOLAIS DEEPHEART in a crowd pleasing 2 minute uneven fight.
