                             REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER

And we now face the beginning of a new fight day and a new month. Not to mention
that the moon is full. Who knows what might happen? Full moon on snow, a scene of
cold and illusion. Avoid it. Stay inside.

The Knights of Virtue were avoided, with Kellumbo's Kids avoiding. Whether
other warriors here and there avoided other opponents, I can't say. My information
is not that clearly presented.
Hummel, from Mikes, got the most challenges this cycle. Will he know what to do
with them? Probably not. It takes a special kind of... genius to turn them into
fast food.
We had twenty fights, with three standbys involved, which means thirty-seven
active warriors. Is this more than last time? I don't remember and, let's face it,
I'm not going to check. I left the records in my other briefcase, and it's at home.
Seven challenges were issued, mostly by Kellumbo's Kids, and one of them was a
Tourney Victor challenge. Wow. No, seriously, I'm impressed. Really.

     The fights:
SATURN (41-3990) (16-55-0,55) of WANDERERS fought SHADOW OUT OF TIME (41-1622)
(21-16-1,82) of THE PLAGUE. SATURN was devastated by SHADOW OUT OF TIME in a popular
1 minute one-sided contest. This is, of course, a total surprise to everyone present
now or at one of Saturn's earlier fights. How did this man graduate?
LURLINE GRACE (41-4164) (15-14-0,67) of WANDERERS fought YOGONITH (105-5) (0-0-
0,90) of Gentlemen from the Stands. LURLINE GRACE was overpowered by YOGONITH in a 1
minute mismatched fight. I must say that I don't think she fought very hard, not
after Yog handed her the flowers and the flask of perfume. More than one road to
success, after all!
SOLARIS (46-3759) (24-55-0,55) of RUBY DRAGONS fought MARS (41-3989) (17-9-0,81)
of WANDERERS. SOLARIS was overpowered by MARS in an exciting 1 minute brutal one-
sided bout. This is, ah, let's say it's... amazing? Came as a bit of a shock to
certain parties on the Bookies' Bench.
FLUTTERLEE (41-4153) (23-15-0,109) of WANDERERS fought LUKARIAN LAMORAK (11-
4841) (52-64-1,116) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. FLUTTERLEE was overpowered by LUKARIAN
LAMORAK in a 1 minute mismatched brawl. Interesting, most people, being carried from
the arena, shout for the medics. Flutterlee was yelling for her lawyer. Should be
worth following.
VAN HELSING (11-6338) (37-27-0,144) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II fought NYTEMAIR (8-
3602) (16-11-2,91) of CHAMPIONS OF STEEL. VAN HELSING butchered NYTEMAIR in a 1
minute uneven duel. Feeling a little testy, Van? Neglected? Trying to get some
attention? There are other ways.
WARDUKE (11-5930) (37-46-3,130) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II fought TARIN SHARPEYES
(105-3) (0-0-0,100) of Gentlemen from the Stands. WARDUKE overpowered TARIN
SHARPEYES in a 1 minute one-sided duel. Take this as a warning, you other
spectators: Never be a standby.

VAJRA VALMEJAR (11-4928) (50-61-0,178) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought SMITH (14-1282)
(70-129-4,179) of MIKES. VAJRA VALMEJAR was overcome by SMITH in a 1 minute
conflict. It isn't every warrior who can make Vajra feel... young.
     WARPATH (66-2926) (78-134-4,190) of X-FORCE fought MEYK (105-24) (0-0-0,250) of
Gentlemen from the Stands. WARPATH was demolished by MEYK in a 1 minute one-sided
brawl. You'd think that by now, Warpath could handle a standby, but some days just
aren't lucky ones, and the moon IS full.
SANDS (11-4123) (59-102-3,183) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought SOLAR SISTER (71-5609)
(28-11-0,197) of THE FURIOUS FIVE. SANDS was bested by SOLAR SISTER in a 2 minute
battle. Great cheering accompanied this victory. That Sister puts on a great show.
DEATH FOG (45-4017) (35-16-0,186) of SUPERIOR FORCES fought DEAD OF WINTER (41-
970) (30-26-2,159) of THE PLAGUE. DEATH FOG subdued DEAD OF WINTER in a crowd
pleasing 1 minute competition. Sounds like bad weather all around.
GOKU (46-3655) (65-58-2,211) of DRAGONBALL Z fought CADDY JACKKNIFE (11-4288)
(51-30-1,210) of GERFEL'S FRIENDS. GOKU was unbelievably bested by CADDY JACKKNIFE
in a popular 4 minute brutal fight. So does this make Goku a sliced pickle? I don't
get the pickle thing, but that's what is in the notes.
POETIC JUICE (66-2975) (48-36-0,214) of ANDORIAN UNIVERSITY fought BLACKRAZOR
(11-4091) (60-103-1,225) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. POETIC JUICE slimly won victory over
BLACKRAZOR in a popular 5 minute gruesome duel. Five minutes? It isn't everyone who
can remain slim for five minutes. Congratulations on that, Poetic.

     The challenge matches:
GRANDPA RAT (22-6549) (23-9-1,75) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged PARNIAN (41-
4138) (19-25-1,75) of WANDERERS. Straight across. GRANDPA RAT was handily defeated
by PARNIAN in a 1 minute uneven Challenge fight. Every day brings its own surprises,
or so I have been told. I've never understood why this is supposed to be good.
BLIND GIRL (22-6041) (26-7-0,119) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged HUMMEL (14-1404)
(68-129-2,180) of MIKES. Up 61. BLIND GIRL was savagely defeated by HUMMEL in an
exciting 4 minute Challenge struggle. So, Blind, never fill out your own challenges,
because if you get the numbers wrong, this is what might happen.
SONIC TACO (30-4337) (30-25-2,151) of TRIP OUT challenged KHORNE SHADOWSPAWN
(46-3809) (42-32-1,151) of RUBY DRAGONS. Straight across. SONIC TACO was bested by
KHORNE SHADOWSPAWN in a 2 minute Challenge duel. Ah, too bad.
HOMELESS PRINCE (22-6012) (60-39-1,196) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged WOLVERINE
(66-3871) (50-93-4,200) of X-FORCE. Up 4. HOMELESS PRINCE defeated WOLVERINE in a
crowd pleasing 2 minute Challenge match. Ah! Excellent, Homeless, this is what we
like to see! Proof of the adage that homelessness and living on the edge puts an
edge on YOU.
VISION (26-1573) (86-46-3,195) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged NIXIE SEASPRITE
(11-4992) (50-51-0,228) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. Up 33. VISION viciously subdued NIXIE
SEASPRITE in a crowd pleasing 5 minute Challenge brawl. The fishnet and trident were
a cunning combination, Vision. Surely worth the fine for Unorthodox Weapons.
CRISSY (11-4993) (38-24-4,190) of VIEW ASKEW challenged TALISMAN SHIELDGUARD
(11-4304) (66-83-0,192) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. Up 2. CRISSY demolished TALISMAN
SHIELDGUARD in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge melee. Shattered the shield, or at
least knocked it askew. Very good.

Our Tourney Victor: MEMPHIS (82-29598) (23-12-0,210) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS 26 TV
challenged IRIADOR (50-2481) (58-37-2,274) of DRUID'S GROVE. Up 64. MEMPHIS
devastated IRIADOR in an action packed 1 minute mismatched Challenge fight. I've
always wondered whether Iriador wouldn't be happier working on an aqueduct somewhere?

Due to her absence, Crystal Fireblade was not present to defend the title. What
a surprise. Most people who are absent fail to be present. I've noticed it more
than once. I feel sure she had her reasons.
So, for the title: LUCIAS CLAY (22-6359) (34-24-0,246) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS
fought CONNOR MACLEOD (11-5532) (50-51-0,193) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II. LUCIAS CLAY
overcame CONNOR MACLEOD in a popular 1 minute brutal Title bout. Splendid! To see a
rising young warrior on the throne is always good.

                               PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE

Kellumbo -- Duh! Just starting to notice? Andorak has become the pits! -- Tankesh
P.S. Tuft Guy? Tuft guy? Adie and I have names, you can use them you know.

Memphis -- Congrats on the TC, heard you looked great! And congrats for getting
smacked down by Crystal after your smack talk! ;) -- Tankesh

Leeta & Ardane -- I'm not too ecstatic about sending rookie graduates to an arena
filled with eligibles veterans. After a few wins from the bottom, that's who they
would be fighting, even if they spend their rookie ADM days in HomeGuard as long as
possible. -- Adie

Perfectly understandable. I blame the accumulation of Advanced warriors on the
Isle, but it doesn't really matter what the cause is. The situation is that
there is no arena on the Isle that is suitable for young warriors, not even Home
Guard. The only solutions I can think of are:
          1. A bunch of managers agreeing to run only warriors with a strictly
limited FE in one of the Advanced arenas.
          2. Opening a new arena just for warriors of limited FE.
To be honest, I don't see either happening, although it is possible that when
the new No-Tourney arena has begun to graduate its warriors, who will then be at
a drastic disadvantage compared to normal tourney-experienced and -enhanced
warriors, a special Advanced arena might be made for them, also. But, again,
this is not a hot probability.

Sonic Taco -- What a horrible experience! I had never realized how very allergic to
tacos I was. I hope never to meet you again. -- Flutterlee
P.S. At least, not in the arena.

Grandpa Rat -- I always knew that I didn't like rats, but I never really knew WHY.
Now I do. Ouch. -- Lurline Grace

Nipples Russell -- You're a GUY? Now, that REALLY put me off my stroke. -- Parnian

Yogonith -- I was warned about the likes of you. -- Saturn

Tarin Sharpeyes -- Someone should tie a lead sinker to you and throw you into the
lake as bait. With no line to pull you back. -- Mars

Not even the Lake Monsters will attack him. He bites back.

Ardane -- Tarin Sharpeyes stabbed me with a glance before I was able to get close
enough to return the favor with a sword. -- Mars

Ardane -- Why not? I think it might be very USEFUL to have mounted events. --
Lurline Grace

The janitorial staff are blocking the suggestion.

Ardane -- Oh, well, when I was dead! That doesn't count. -- Flutterlee

                            JANUARY FACE-TO-FACE IN TEMPE!

Our next winter FTF will be held in Tempe, Arizona, January 12-14, 2007. It will be
held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tempe, Arizona (480-894-7444), the same hotel as
last year by popular request. Room rates are $149.00 per night, 1-4 occupancy, which
includes full cooked breakfast, complimentary manager's reception (yes, really!), free
airport shuttle, free parking, high speed internet (for extra charge), fitness center,
jacuzzi, and pool. The rooms are blocked--please make your reservation by December 15
before the block is released! (This is prime season for Phoenix, and several people
were unable to book rooms last year because they waited too long.) Look for
transportation info in the tournament information sheet. We hope you're all looking
forward to it and that we will see you there!
