Reflections by the King's Sentinel
Hi there, Andorak,
I'm back for another edition of the King's Sentinel Bi-weekly. I fought Hummel...
what's that guy been eating lately? I thought that was a typo when I saw him looming
over my position at 340 recognition points. I guess he earned it. I know my
teammate Solar Sister isn't in any hurry to fight him again! I love a place where
bottom feeders like he or I could rise to the top through practice and perseverance.
Climb back up here, Hummel, and take the title from me if you can.

REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Snide Clemens? Bah. Humbug. Bitter humbug, too. He wanted to be a couturier
in Lirith Kai, but he's color blind. They rejected him and his efforts. Rightly so,
I SAW some of the, ah, combinations he produced. Terrible, just terrible. But he
took it hard, and it made him very nasty. Not that he wasn't nasty to begin with,
well, if you'd ever known his mother you'd understand that! But this made it worse.
Still, no need for us to put up with him here.
Here, after all, you have me!
And, today, twenty-three fights, involving three standbys, which isn't as bad as
it has been some days. Six challenges, none of them TV. One death. The longest
fight was a respectable twelve minutes.
Wanderers were avoided by Kellumbo's Kids. Don't ask me why, I never did
understand those things.
Where's My Tourney? got the most challenges, more than the King's Sentinel.
Which last was not hard, since the Sentinel fought a random match. Maybe somebody
did challenge him and fail to connect, but I wouldn't place any bets on it. Speaking
of whom (the King's Sentinel), we thank Axly for the column.
And now to the fights:
OOZING ORIFICES (71-3475) (9-3-0,64) of POSITIVELY PUTRID fought OHRLAM (105-2)
(0-0-0,60) of Tired Old Monsters. OOZING ORIFICES demolished OHRLAM in a 1 minute
one-sided fight. Odd, I would have thought these two would be naturals together.
Well, maybe they were, and I'm just looking at it from the wrong angle. Not that *I*
would enjoy being slimed, but it takes all kinds.
PARNIAN (41-4138) (28-39-1,78) of WANDERERS fought BABY (43-2863) (24-31-2,56)
of DARK SIDE. PARNIAN overcame BABY in a popular 1 minute contest. Took her candy,
I bet. It's what he's good at. You think I sound harsh? Ah, but you don't know the
REAL Parnian! I could tell you a tale or two, but I won't because I may have to walk
past an alley this week.
NAFISAH (22-6612) (20-7-0,100) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS fought MARS (41-3989) (31-18-
0,76) of WANDERERS. NAFISAH was overpowered by MARS in a 1 minute uneven fray. I am
amazed at the skill with which Mars defends his winning record. There's nothing in
his team history to account for it. Magical aids? The favor of the gods?
SOLARIS (46-3759) (28-74-0,98) of RUBY DRAGONS fought SATURN (41-3990) (19-75-
0,53) of WANDERERS. SOLARIS savagely defeated SATURN in a 4 minute brutal duel.
What a surprise, eh?
KHORNE SHADOWSPAWN (46-3809) (50-47-1,123) of RUBY DRAGONS fought AYLIA (105-4)
(0-0-0,130) of Tired Old Monsters. KHORNE SHADOWSPAWN was devastated by AYLIA in a 2
minute one-sided contest. Here is a gladiator whose winning record won't last much
longer.
WOLVERINE (66-3871) (57-109-4,180) of X-FORCE fought BUTTERHEAD (105-11) (0-0-
0,150) of Tired Old Monsters. WOLVERINE overpowered BUTTERHEAD in a popular 2 minute
bloody one-sided bout. I could make some involved play on words here about Butter
melting in Wolverine's mouth, but I don't have the energy for it. Seasonal Affective
Disorder, no doubt. Or staying up too late last night.
CONNOR MACLEOD (11-5532) (56-68-0,170) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II fought SEXTANT (63-
2415) (15-8-1,136) of SAILS OF CHARON. CONNOR MACLEOD viciously subdued SEXTANT in
an exciting 4 minute brutal fight. Six minutes? Congratulations to Sextant for
holding out that long.
FLUTTERLEE (41-4153) (24-37-0,154) of WANDERERS fought WARDUKE (11-5930) (49-57-
3,134) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II. FLUTTERLEE was handily defeated by WARDUKE in a 1
minute mismatched bout. Again, no surprise. Some gladiators seem to be born to
lose, Flutterlee as much as her teammate Saturn.
SOLAR SISTER (71-5609) (43-15-1,210) of THE FURIOUS FIVE fought LEADFOOT (40-
3516) (26-17-0,168) of TACO GODS. SOLAR SISTER defeated LEADFOOT in an action packed
4 minute struggle. Word in the halls is that the Sister claims she'd have gotten a
faster victory if Leadfoot hand't stamped on her toes in the first seconds of the
fight. Truth or falsehood?
LUKARIAN LAMORAK (11-4841) (60-79-1,193) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought BLITZKRIEG
XXIII (60-5503) (26-19-1,206) of DEATH STUDS VII. LUKARIAN LAMORAK was handily
defeated by BLITZKRIEG XXIII in a 2 minute uneven fight. Oh, excellent! It may be
small-souled of me, but I do enjoy seeing a young hotshot defeat an old fossil.
LURLINE GRACE (41-4164) (29-23-0,201) of WANDERERS fought GOKU (46-3655) (78-68-
2,205) of DRAGONBALL Z. LURLINE GRACE was devastated by GOKU in a 2 minute
mismatched bout. Oh, well, I suppose it's too much to ask that ALL old fossils
should lose all the time.
TALISMAN SHIELDGUARD (11-4304) (77-95-0,191) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought HUMMEL
(14-1404) (83-137-4,204) of MIKES. TALISMAN SHIELDGUARD devastated HUMMEL in a 1
minute one-sided battle. These recent matches will deflate Hummel's head, and a good
thing. He was getting above himself.
MASSEUSE (41-3092) (35-20-2,198) of SWEET SILK fought VAN HELSING (11-6338) (46-
41-1,181) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II. MASSEUSE murdered VAN HELSING in a crowd pleasing 2
minute mismatched match. Our Death for Today. I don't believe this was murder. Van
went out there of his own free will and engaged in struggle with edged weapons. He
was at the least a consenting victim.
HANGMAN (23-1076) (40-24-1,201) of FACES OF DEATH fought BLACKRAZOR (11-4091)
(62-124-1,192) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. HANGMAN savagely defeated BLACKRAZOR in a popular
4 minute gory melee. We might consider that Blackrazor had a close escape, since he
did not, in fact, face death as his teammate did. Or then again, we might say that a
possible death was never an issue here despite the Hangman's team name. It depends
on how you look at these things. After all, if Blackrazor was "born to be hanged,"
he could be killed in the arena, could he?
IRIADOR (50-2481) (70-48-2,211) of DRUID'S GROVE fought BRAK (57-3163) (28-20-
2,186) of CLAN STEELHAMMER. IRIADOR vanquished BRAK in a 1 minute one-sided fight.
I found this a rather lackluster fight, but I suppose they can't all be brilliant and
riveting.
POETIC JUICE (66-2975) (62-43-0,213) of ANDORIAN UNIVERSITY fought DEATH FOG
(45-4017) (50-24-0,221) of SUPERIOR FORCES. POETIC JUICE vanquished DEATH FOG in a 2
minute uneven fight. Naturally! Poetry and vitamins will vanquish the fog any
morning you care to name. Ah, make that, MOST mornings. Every now and then,
especially as we slide down the solar cycle toward the nadir, there comes a day of
gloom that nothing can banish. But we get through it just the same.
Ah! The challenge matches:
HOMELESS PRINCE (22-6012) (74-48-1,191) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged VAJRA
VALMEJAR (11-4928) (59-75-0,193) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. Up 2. HOMELESS PRINCE was
overpowered by VAJRA VALMEJAR in a 1 minute Challenge brawl. An unfortunate outcome
for the Prince, as I understand he is now committed to a makeover of his alley by
Marthe Stu McArt. Let us know when we can come see it, Homeless.
BLIND GIRL (22-6041) (41-14-0,195) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged SMITH (14-1282)
(81-141-4,195) of MIKES. Straight across. BLIND GIRL outwaited SMITH in a popular
12 minute bloody Challenge duel. The longest fight today, and the longest here in a
while, as well. And I want to assure Blind Girl that she had the best of it, not
having to look at Smith's hair all gelled up into purple and orange spikes. Others,
being sighted, wouldn't have been able to stay in the same arena with him that long.
Even the arenamaster had to take a break half-way through the fight.
LUCIAS CLAY (22-6359) (44-33-0,197) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged WARPATH (66-
2926) (92-143-4,198) of X-FORCE. Up 1. LUCIAS CLAY was subdued by WARPATH in a 2
minute Challenge competition. Ah, the fossils. Nothing like ten years straight in
the arena.
GRANDPA RAT (22-6549) (37-17-3,209) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged SANDS (11-
4123) (62-122-3,193) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. Down 16. GRANDPA RAT devastated SANDS in a
popular 1 minute one-sided Challenge contest. Aha, another fossil bitten! Have you
noticed that we seem to have a plethora of fossils in the upper ranks? All the
regionals suffer from this. And it doesn't do any good for one or a few managers to
take a stand against it and get rid of theirs, if even ONE manager remains with the
one-fifty-plus-fight gladiators active. We need, perhaps, an alternative to Primus
(which Home Guard was once supposed to be, I believe), a Terminus, if you will, where
those who are too good for Home Guard, not good enough for Primus, and have more than
a hundred and fifty fights can get sucked off to automatically. Yes, I know, not
going to happen. Tis the season for wishful thinking.
VISION (26-1573) (107-48-4,209) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged WHERE'S MY
TOURNEY? (82-2893) (23-2-0,198) of THAT TOTALLY SUCKS! Down 11. VISION demolished
WHERE'S MY TOURNEY? in a popular 6 minute one-sided Challenge melee. And why was no
one surprised at this outcome, eh?
MAXIMUS (22-5966) (61-42-3,194) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged STELLA BLUE (53-
6167) (41-24-1,235) of PUERCO'S PINATA. Up 41. MAXIMUS outwaited STELLA BLUE in a
crowd pleasing 7 minute gruesome Challenge fight. Who would have thought a pinata
would have that much blood in it?
And for the title: AXLY HIMSELF (11-2363) (94-72-1,262) of GERFEL'S FRIENDS
fought NIXIE SEASPRITE (11-4992) (63-61-1,238) of SCARLET KNIGHTS in defense of his
position. AXLY HIMSELF handily defeated NIXIE SEASPRITE in a 2 minute uneven Title
melee. Three cheers for Axly Himself (accept no substitutes)! Well done.

Certificate. Only certificates will be accepted for entry. All certificates
submitted will be used during the course of the contest as prizes.
*RU certificates must be received on or before the first turn of the contest which is
Stormcrowe Turn 263 (running approximately December 4th, 2007). You may diplo them
to Master Darque or have them shipped directly to him. Email MD for a home address.
RULES and SCORING
Rules and Scoring information for the Slaughterhouse will be posted every turn in the
Stormcrowe newsletter beginning with Turn 260 and in a final all arena ad in
November.
PRIZES
ENDURANCE AWARD: One (1) +1 Bonus Potion will be given to every team that competes
in 60 of the 65 contest fights.
KILL MASTER AWARD: The individual manager with the most kills will receive a Limited
Immortality Potion. This potion may be applied to one (1) warrior. He/she will be
resurrected ONE-TIME if they are killed in Basic D2.
TOP TEAM AWARD: Each manager on the winning team will receive the following prize
pack for their Slaughterhouse Dominance:
*One (1) +1 Bonus Potion
*Favorites Knowledge for one (1) Warrior
*Undisclosed amount of Team RU Certificates
Special note from RSI on prizes: All contest prizes must be used within three
months. All contest prizes may only be used on a living warrior on the participating
contest team in DM 45. The immortality potion may resurrect a warrior one time,
after a death in DM 45 only, after which time the potion disappears.
