REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Again, we meet. If I have not mistaken my dates--possible, because I have never
really cared for dates--we will not meet again until after the tourney. I shall not
attend, so you will just have to do the best you can without me. Tell me all about
it.
Today we have: Golden Canyon most avoided by Steel Crusade. Can't take the
fancy cooking? I will admit to a certain fondness for plain food myself. Hmm, I
wonder what they could do in a food fight? Well, we won't find out today, that's for
sure.
Sands of Scarlet Knights got the most challenges. This is what happens when you
stand still in an arena. The challenges come flying.
Out of twenty-three fights, four were challenge matches (one of them a tv
challenge). Which leaves nineteen random matches, EIGHT of them involving standbys.
Not a good thing, but maybe if we make the standbys write personals, people will
think we have that many managed gladiators here?
GO-FER (26-4444) (16-27-2,48) of GOLDEN CANYON fought TARIN SHARPEYES (105-3)
(0-0-0,100) of Various Monsters. GO-FER vanquished TARIN SHARPEYES in a 1 minute
one-sided match. Amazing, because I seem to recall opponents in the past who have
said that this Sharpeyes (any relation to Zontani?) is a tough match.
CAP'N CRUNCH (26-4724) (16-9-1,87) of STEEL CRUSADE fought GOLDERIE (26-4657)
(21-18-1,37) of GOLDEN CANYON. CAP'N CRUNCH was defeated by GOLDERIE in a 2 minute
fight. So much for avoiding, and who Cap'n needs to avoid now is the bookies. They
don't like to see this kind of upset.
SVEN BLUETOOTH (26-4729) (22-37-0,70) of STEEL CRUSADE fought SARINA (26-4220)
(20-24-1,80) of GOLDEN CANYON. SVEN BLUETOOTH devastated SARINA in a 1 minute one-
sided bout. I have heard that Sven has a sapphire set into his tooth. Any truth to
this rumor?
HOEN VANDERBILT (20-143) (20-31-2,73) of STEEL CRUSADE fought LORIS KEY (26-
4706) (19-15-1,52) of GOLDEN CANYON. HOEN VANDERBILT handily defeated LORIS KEY in a
1 minute uneven duel. And so much for avoidance, eh? Three of the don't-want-to-do-
it matches in a row! Someone out there doesn't seem happy with Steel Crudsade.
SOLARIS (46-3759) (33-75-0,110) of RUBY DRAGONS fought TYLARRA (105-23) (0-0-
0,150) of Various Monsters. SOLARIS was overpowered by TYLARRA in a popular 1 minute
one-sided duel. If I was a dragon, I believe I'd find this Solaris's record
insulting.
KHORNE SHADOWSPAWN (46-3809) (52-51-1,129) of RUBY DRAGONS fought LAWRENCE THE
SOT (105-10) (0-0-0,150) of Various Monsters. KHORNE SHADOWSPAWN handily defeated
LAWRENCE THE SOT in a 1 minute competition. Ah, I see that Khorne found the trick to
dealing with Larry's off-hand stein. If you fill it full of ale, he can't use it to
parry.
CONNOR MACLEOD (11-5532) (58-72-0,140) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II fought CLEMMIE (26-
4630) (25-25-1,94) of GOLDEN CANYON. CONNOR MACLEOD overpowered CLEMMIE in a popular
1 minute one-sided bout. I hope he doesn't inspire her to experiment with haggis.
Or with any of those peculiar Harkene foods made by stuffing a week's leftovers into
a sheep's stomach and boiling it.
VAN HELSING (11-6338) (46-47-1,179) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II fought MASKED
GUILDMASTER (105-6) (0-0-0,201) of Various Monsters. VAN HELSING was devastated by
MASKED GUILDMASTER in a 1 minute one-sided fight. Who was that masked man? More
seriously, what guild is he a master of?
WARDUKE (11-5930) (51-61-3,183) of SCARLET KNIGHTS II fought SMITH (14-1282)
(83-145-4,180) of MIKES. WARDUKE was handily defeated by SMITH in a crowd pleasing 1
minute mismatched bout. And a round or two of the Blacksmith Chorus here. Not that
Smith is ncessarily black, provided he remembers to wash up after his day job.
STELLA BLUE (53-6167) (44-27-1,204) of PUERCO'S PINATA fought HUMMEL (14-1404)
(86-140-4,195) of MIKES. STELLA BLUE vanquished HUMMEL in an action packed 1 minute
mismatched bout. This is the sort of thing that should keep Hummel humble. Does it
work?
GRANDPA RAT (22-6549) (41-19-3,185) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS fought LUKARIAN LAMORAK
(11-4841) (61-84-1,180) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. GRANDPA RAT devastated LUKARIAN LAMORAK
in a crowd pleasing 3 minute mismatched bout. So Lukarian learns the basic lesson:
never fight a rat. They're out to get you and they don't care how.
SANDS (11-4123) (64-126-3,205) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought SEXTANT (63-2415) (16-
10-1,158) of SAILS OF CHARON. SANDS subdued SEXTANT in a 2 minute match. Correct me
if I'm wrong, but didn't the Commission's statistician say that Sands got the most
challenges? Well, he must not've kept any of them. I suppose if they were second-
challenges and the first ones to assorted other gladiators went through, it might
come out like this.
NIXIE SEASPRITE (11-4992) (64-66-1,184) of SCARLET KNIGHTS fought DEATH FOG (45-
4017) (54-26-0,188) of SUPERIOR FORCES. NIXIE SEASPRITE was demolished by DEATH FOG
in a 1 minute mismatched competition. Storm at Sea? That's well-known quilt
pattern, if you happen to be into traditional quilts. My granny had one like that,
and it made me queasy whenever I had to sleep under it.
AXLY HIMSELF (11-2363) (99-73-1,276) of GERFEL'S FRIENDS fought SILK SHEETS (41-
2556) (74-66-3,194) of SWEET SILK. AXLY HIMSELF overcame SILK SHEETS in a popular 3
minute brutal bout. Do we want to know the details of this? Sounds a little kinky,
or at least very private.
GOKU (46-3655) (84-68-2,312) of DRAGONBALL Z fought BERYL (105-26) (0-0-0,181)
of Various Monsters. GOKU defeated BERYL in an exciting 1 minute fight. And is
anyone amazed?

0,250) of Various Monsters. IRIADOR was vanquished by MEYK in an action packed 1
minute uneven fight. Well, at the least it will mean there are some happy standbys
out there. And some unhappy ones, but that's the way it goes.

0,200) of Various Monsters. WARPATH handily defeated RHYNIAN ALANDA in an action
packed 1 minute uneven melee. How ungalant of him.
WOLVERINE (66-3871) (61-111-4,219) of X-FORCE fought GHRYSHAN (105-25) (0-0-
0,181) of Various Monsters. WOLVERINE devastated GHRYSHAN in a crowd pleasing 1
minute gory mismatched match. Ah, well, so most of the standbys will NOT be happy,
what else is new. The gods know they get paid enough to put up with it.
WHERE'S MY TOURNEY? (82-2893) (26-3-0,246) of THAT TOTALLY SUCKS! fought
TETRIANO (63-175) (49-56-1,216) of THE EXILED ONES. WHERE'S MY TOURNEY? unbelievably
bested TETRIANO in an action packed 10 minute brawl. Does this mean that the tourney
in question has been found? Surely not! A tourney lost is... hmm. Maybe I'd better
not go there, given the schedule for the next week.

in a 2 minute Challenge match. I would be inclined to call this insane, or at least
wildly reckless. What were you THINKING, Nafisah?
POETIC JUICE (66-2975) (67-44-0,192) of ANDORIAN UNIVERSITY challenged BLIND
GIRL (22-6041) (45-16-0,196) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS. Up 4. POETIC JUICE overpowered
BLIND GIRL in a 3 minute mismatched Challenge duel. It isn't every gladiator who can
fight and spit poetry at the same time. True, it was only limericks, but one of them
was either original or unfamiliar, anyway.
VISION (26-1573) (110-51-4,197) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS challenged TALISMAN
SHIELDGUARD (11-4304) (79-99-0,187) of SCARLET KNIGHTS. Down 10. VISION subdued
TALISMAN SHIELDGUARD in an exciting 3 minute Challenge melee. I simply cannot write
about a fight involving the Shieldguard. I can't get the less-than-respectful image
of what other kinds of things have that name out of my mind, and respect is a big
issue with us spy reporter.
And for the title, a tv challenge from the holder thereof: LUCIAS CLAY (22-
6359) (48-34-0,232) of KELLUMBO'S KIDS TV challenged VAJRA VALMEJAR (11-4928) (61-79-
