REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
ANDORAK brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Of course, we're all terribly
impressed to see KENWYD win a fight and gain 17 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, KENWYD
beat KETTELMAN and KETTELMAN lost 10 points. You're breakin' my heart. And it's out
with the old, in with the new, as MICHAEL COOPER takes the Title and last week's bar
tab from the old Duelmaster. Heh, heh. I'm not in a very good mood today, but why
am I telling you this? You want to know what's new, don't you, ANDORAK?
He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day, the coward.
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess
what brave team is developing these kinds of weapons?
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for
an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Well, I've had enough of this
drivel, and I'm sure you have too. Off like a dirty shirt of padded leather. I see
the crowds are getting restless, I must leave now-- Snide Clemens

PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE
Delays and distractions. Once again, in the interests of mailing this
newsletter out promptly, I will forgo the hand-written spy report.
Khanamir -- And I'll miss you. I do like a man who eats. -- Sarina
Kharma -- Tremendous. -- Clemmie
Kenwyd -- Only good damage. Clemmie's our hard-hitter. -- Kettelman
Three-two, and Jorja says she "doesn't have time" for personal personals. Bummer.
To the two victorious-against-us Wrathmen, a wincing "good fight." To the three
standbys who lost to us, a cheerful "good fight!" -- Sarina

NAME CHANGE-O-RAMA
There was a line outside the Gladiatorial Commission's registry office. There
often was, but surely not now? Alarond the Scribe, who had drawn office duty today,
frowned at them.
A stocky, fit, moderately handsome gladiator stepped up to the counter. "I want a
name-change," he said. "How can I do my best known as," he shuddered, "'Dangling
Eyeball'? My name is Joe, and I want to use it."
A small and very shapely woman stepped up beside him. "And I am really tired of
being known as 'DA Bait'." She smiled, causing Alarond to sway where he stood. "I'd
like to be known as... Aphrodite, I think."
The others crowded forward, each advancing a claim, the babble of voice rising to
a roar, the crowd beginning to look like a mob--and every member of it armed and
dangerous.
Alarond raised his hands to quiet them, without much success. He raised his
voice, too. "We'll do it! A Name-Change-O-Rama, as soon as we can get the paperwork
lined up! Two or three months, maybe--"
The gladiators howled in protest at the delay.
"No, listen! The files here are HUGE, it will take time to get everything
straight. You've got to be patient. It WILL happen!"
