In the Far West:

Shania Silverstar stared at the man, eyes narrowed in calculation. She sorted
data quickly. A man of the local race, one she'd never seen before, not that she'd
seen all the races of Ghea. An advanced gladiator. The nearest of Lady Greywand's
arenas lay to the east of here, in Lirith Kai. And the westernmost of those
arenas.... "You're from Simtakka?"
"Smart as well as beautiful, I see." Faintly sneering. Not mocking her--she
thought that he probably faced all life with a sneer. "I earned my immortality in
Simtakka," he admitted after a moment. His scarred hands flexed. "I did it the hard
way, too. The Adantri aren't all pushovers."
"The ones I've met aren't," Shania agreed. "And their sense of honor is strong.
Very strong."
He bristled immediately. "If you're expecting that kind of soft-in-the-head
honor from ME--"
Shania smiled faintly. Some things a woman didn't need magic to understand.
"You could have attacked me while I slept," she said. "But you didn't. Yes, I am
expecting that honor from you. My name is Shania Silverstar, I graduated from an
Andorian arena." She held out her hand.
"Andorian. Gods, I should have known...a lot more softheaded than the Adantri.
Gods curse the luck." When her extended hand didn't waver, he finally grasped it and
shook it once, then turned away. Over his shoulder, he growled, "I'm called Zakar."
"Zakar. Good. If you have food out there, I would be glad to share it with
you."

"There shouldn't BE a reef here!" Werre said again, scowling at his chart.
"But we're stuck on one just the same," Jammies said with cheerful tactlessness.
"Where do you suppose it came from?"
"Doesn't matter where it came from," Ashon Chang growled. "The important thing
is getting off it before the waves pound us into pieces."
"Which they will do," Rughal added, studying the clouds that were being driven
up from the south by a strong wind, and the increasingly rough sea below them.
"This is some kind of magical effect," Herlas muttered. He had been tentatively
readmitted to comrade-ship and allowed to move about the ship freely...although
Rughal was usually not far away. "The reef, at least. The coming storm," he turned
to stare southward, "I don't know. Even that MIGHT be magical. There's a mishmash
of forces at work here...."
"Can magic get us off this reef then?" Werre asked suddenly. "Can you do
something?"
Herlas shrugged. "I don't think so. This is not my area of expertise--weather,
ships, and the moving of large objects." His eyes, unusually dark for a Fratsfan,
narrowed as he stared into the water. "This is what comes of not stabilizing the Eye
quickly enough," he muttered. "It could have been prevented--" He twitched when
Rughal, standing behind him, growled. More briskly, he went on, "I don't think
there's a lot I can do here, very powerful forces are at work--more powerful than
those any one, or any two men, for that matter, can muster. And if our hull has been
damaged, we might not WANT to get the ship off this reef, you know! Better to be
stranded than to sink."
"We won't sink if we get moving quickly enough," Werre countered. "If we get
off right away. But if we stay here and let the wind and the waves pound us and drag
us back and forth across whatever it is we hit--"
"Looks like the top of a belfry," Jammies said, hanging over the side.
Werre looked at Ashon Chang, who stared back at him. Then both of them glanced
around. They were in the middle of a plain of water, with not even a rocky islet to
be seen.
"I don't suppose it matters what we hit," Ashon Chang said after a moment. The
important thing is to get off it without having the bottom torn out of our ship."
"Well, at least this explains why there aren't a lot of other ships following
this good current," Vurand said. "What do we do?"
"Two men over the side," Werre decided. "With ropes to keep them from being
swept away, of course. To find out exactly how we're hung up." He glanced around
the little group. "I presume all of you can swim?"
                       *** ***** *** ***** ***
Shania washed her hands in the little stream that flowed through the shrine,
then sat back against the wall and sighed. "I needed that, thank you. Delicious."
Zakar, squatting on the other side of the stream licked his own fingers and
snorted. "Delicious," he repeated mockingly. "I bet you never ate korry in your
life."
"That the food was unfamiliar doesn't make it necessarily inedible," she
retorted. She glanced out the doorway of the shrine. Twilight had fallen, but the
sounds of a large population were still audible, and the light breeze carried the
scent of thousands of cooking fires as well as the smell of a seacoast. "How long
can we stay here?"
Zakar shrugged. "I don't suppose Hodan cares, even if he really is a god and
not just a myth. But we're both going to have people looking for us, and sooner or
later, they'll look here."
Shania blinked. "They'd violate a religious sanctuary? And what 'they', come
to think of it? I know I am likely to be pursued by priests, but what about you?"
"Everybody'd like to catch me." He seemed to take satisfaction in that. "I'm a
flaming revolutionary. And a heretic, too. 'Course, those're the same thing, here
in Zinaco." At her surprised look, he added, "They're a theocracy."
"What did you do to--? No, that's none of my business, I suppose. How do we
get out of here before we're found? Do we work together," she wasn't sure she wanted
to work with Zakar, there was something about him...but he was the only potential
ally she had here, "or each manage our escape separately?"
Zakar was silent for a long time, studying her with a critical gaze, the way he
might look at a horse he was thinking of buying. From someone he didn't trust.
Finally he said, "We work together." His hard mouth curled into a smile of sorts.
"I've got half an idea, but it would mean playing roles--you much good as an
actress?"
Shania's eyes narrowed. He seemed too pleased with his idea for it to be
something she was going to like. "Depends on the role." She considered mentioning
her magical skills and immediately decided against it. Better to keep that knowledge
in reserve until she knew Zakar better. And maybe not then.

In the end, it was Ashon Chang and Rughal who went over the side. "Because,"
the samurai explained to Rughal as he slid down a rope and into the water, "we are
victims of our own honor. Werre must remain with the ship, as our most skilled
sailor, neither Jammies nor Vurand swims well, and Herlas claims that he cannot swim
at all. Less honorable men than we are might point out--" He gasped. "The water is
colder than I expected! Might point out," he continued, moving out of the path of
Rughal's descent, "that no great degree of swimming is required, and there ARE the
safety ropes...."
Rughal laughed, which Ashon Chang considered a small victory; the ranger hadn't
so much as smiled since Shania had been taken from them. "I'd go back up and do just
that," he said, "but we're already down here and wet, so we might as well take a look
at things."
The two men made their way along the small ship's waterline, probing with light
poles for depth. Rughal, who was in the lead, made the first find. "Something
here," he said, handing Ashon his pole. "I'll take a look." Before the samurai
could reply, he doubled and thrust downward vanishing beneath the surface.
The next minute seemed a very long one, and Ashon Chang began to hyperventilate
in preparation for diving himself.
Rughal resurfaced, gasped in breath, and said, "It IS a belfry! Or at least the
roof of some kind of tower. Hard to tell what, and who cares? I think we can get
off when the wind changes, IF it changes, as it usually does at sunset."
     "Is the hull damaged?"
"Not that I can see. It's a roof with two ridge poles, and the front of our
ship is sitting between them like they were the jaws of a vice. We can't go forward,
but we should be able to go back, if the wind will cooperate." Rughal grabbed his
rope and began to pull himself up hand over hand.
"Excellent!" Ashon Chang began to pull himself up as well. "If the wind
doesn't cooperate, we will get Herlas to do it."

Not Lirin Kiv:

Shylock, who had been lurking behind a hedge of rosebushes as Master Dan Shao
explained the war with the Grey Witch to Clemenda, frowned and sank down onto a handy
bench. This would require thought. This "Grey Witch of the East" sounded nearly as
powerful as Sheila Greywand, and if that was the case, she was a threat to his plans.
She would have to be removed--which had the added advantage that it would apparently
make him a hero to these people. Or else he would have to write off this world as a
place to establish himself and find some other. Because he had no intention of
sharing power....
The thing to do, he decided, was to visit the home city of this Witch. He
didn't have to actually meet her to discover just how much of a danger she might be.
But he had to be closer. And fortunately, there was an obvious reason for the
journey: He, and also Clemenda, which would get her out of the hands of that cursed
Master Dan Shao, would be seeking aid in finding and closing the Gate that had
brought them here. An obvious reason, and one that no one could fault.
He would propose the plan to Dan Shao immediately. No point in wasting time.
                       *** ***** *** ***** ***
"I don't see why we had to rush off like this," Clemenda muttered. "Another day
or two wouldn't have mattered."
"It might matter," Shylock assured her. "With magic, you can never tell about
things like that. It MIGHT matter." He drew her down onto the bench beside him,
smiling at the water that separated them from Master Dan Shao. More water every
minute. "Besides," he said, "I promised you dinner in Talahya, and I can fulfill
that promise till we get home."
"But the Gate we came through must have been back there on that island!"
"Gates are magic and don't always follow linear logic, my dear."
     "But--"
"And besides, Dan Shao sent men out to search the island, and they reported that
the Gate is gone. Or at least closed." He shrugged. "So we need to consult someone
who understands the magic of this world. Dan Shao said the greatest magician or
wizard or whatever you want to call her, the Grey Witch, lives on an island--Thallia,
it's called--to the east."
Clemenda sighed. "Okay, I don't argue with your logic, I guess. But I hope
it's not FAR to the east, because I don't like sailing." She swallowed twice and
moved back toward the rail, leaning over it. "I really don't...."
                       *** ***** *** ***** ***
"I don't know how far it is to Thallia," the ship's captain said. "I don't sail
there. Just the Irindan Sea, and to the Pillars of Gold, the gates of the Middle
Sea, you know, no farther." He gestured toward the east. "It's dangerous out there!
Our Sea Patrols keep order in the Irindan, but the Middle Sea is full of pirates.
Dangerous place, and you'd do better not to go. Stay in Lirith Kai. No place else
is as good anyway."

                             REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER

As I sit here, looking (figuratively, since it's dark) at the mountains, now
liberally splashed with snow, I think to myself, is it that time again already? Yes,
it is. Once again Crysalis marches into the fray, and very frayed this year is. Our
last meeting before the solstice. I could get sentimental about it, but sugar makes
me nauseous.

So, some stuff about this cycle of fights.
Royal Flush was avoided by the Dark Sidhe.
Egan Forn got the most challenges.
We had thirty-six fights today, one less than last time, BUT no standbys fought
this time, so we're four warriors ahead! Fourteen challenge matches, none of them tv
challenges. As noted above, no standbys fought today. One warrior died. The
longest fight was, again, seven minutes. Shall I hand out box turtles again? It
isn't the season for them.

SIR YDER (31-4353) (20-8-0,77) of WILLBENDERS fought THERMODYNAMICS (27-3966)
(18-9-0,54) of GET SMART. SIR YDER vanquished THERMODYNAMICS in an action packed 1
minute one-sided bout. This was a hot match. Positively scorching. But you know
how it is with hot fires: they burn out rapidly.
DANNIA TYL SIO (52-3393) (30-20-1,57) of SAND DANCERS fought NORM PETERSON (39-
2745) (39-68-0,48) of DRINKING BUDDIES. DANNIA TYL SIO demolished NORM PETERSON in a
2 minute one-sided conflict. In truth, this required no special effort on Dannia's
part. All she had to do is withhold Norm's beer.
SIR LANCELOT (72-4997) (14-10-2,54) of KNIGHTS TEMPLAR fought GWEN RYDER (9-
4867) (17-4-0,55) of DREAM PARK. SIR LANCELOT was overcome by GWEN RYDER in an
exciting 1 minute fight. Is this, perhaps, a demonstration of the difference between
dreams and nightmares? Or just a warning to stay out of the park?
     300 (78-2346) (16-14-0,33) of PBA fought BREADSTICKS (14-3772) (21-9-0,78) of
PISSED PIZZA GUYS. 300 devastated BREADSTICKS in a crowd pleasing 1 minute brutal
one-sided battle. Nothing left of the Breadsticks but crumbs. Good thing
Crumbsnatcher isn't handy!
PINE (78-2350) (21-3-1,86) of TREE PEOPLE fought UTAH DRIVERS (14-3775) (15-13-
2,56) of PISSED PIZZA GUYS. PINE was devastated by UTAH DRIVERS in a 1 minute one-
sided duel. Remind me to avoid driving in Utah.
FRIED CHICKEN (82-7661) (17-4-0,55) of MAIN COURSE fought EGOTISTIC DUKE (28-
2779) (19-7-1,63) of ABYSMAL BEHAVIORS. FRIED CHICKEN beat EGOTISTIC DUKE in an
exciting 1 minute fray. Give me the recipe for that Chicken, and I will conquer the
world! Or all of it that matters, anyway.
     WHAT'S A BLINKER? (14-3773) (22-14-0,100) of PISSED PIZZA GUYS fought MIRTA (51-
4033) (41-27-1,91) of SAND DANCERS. WHAT'S A BLINKER? was defeated by MIRTA in an
exciting 1 minute bout. As the bumper sticker says, "Visualize... using your turn
signals." I could tell you tales! But this is the wrong newsletter for 'em. Some
other time.
BEAR KEEPER (47-3782) (21-31-2,96) of CARNIVAL fought LAME AIM (22-5656) (14-8-
1,47) of GLADIATION FOLLY. BEAR KEEPER was overpowered by LAME AIM in a 1 minute
one-sided match. Does this mean the bear got away? Or was Lame Aim the bear in the
first place?
MOUNTEBANK (4-2083) (43-19-0,130) of CARNIVAL fought JACK SPRAT (47-2954) (46-
54-4,129) of ROYAL FLUSH. MOUNTEBANK won victory over JACK SPRAT in a popular 4
minute fray. What part of it, I wonder, made it "popular"? The flashing card work?
Colorful but confusing. The dazzling duel of cuisine? (In this corner, we have Deep
Fat Frying, and in the other corner, Lean Cuisine.) Mountebank, care to give us your
views on this?
JUAN (41-2304) (23-15-0,164) of DREAM TEAMS fought DOLLFACE (39-2372) (56-74-
1,141) of DRINKING BUDDIES. JUAN handily defeated DOLLFACE in a popular 3 minute
gory one-sided duel. But be warned, Juan, don't go drinking with Dollface until she
calms down, or you'll be "Drink-Face." She seemed a little testy at the end of the
match.
TEN COMMANDMENTS (47-3843) (36-32-0,173) of ROYAL FLUSH fought BALCLUTHA (14-
3169) (23-32-1,115) of OTAGO HIGHLANDERS. TEN COMMANDMENTS was beaten by BALCLUTHA
in an exciting 2 minute fray. The trouble with stone tables is they CHIP. Besides
being heavy to lug around the arena.
HANNYA (73-4350) (23-7-1,166) of BLOOD LUST fought AB DESTINED 4 THE DA (65-
1154) (16-4-2,112) of PAUL'Z PHARTZ. HANNYA viciously subdued AB DESTINED 4 THE DA
in an action packed 2 minute bout. Good thing there's no DA here, isn't it? Not
that a warrior should be penalized for losing a mis-match, but then, who expects life
to be fair?
MAGICIAN (21-1040) (46-37-0,177) of MEDICINE SHOW fought STONEWALL (11-3900)
(47-53-2,123) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS. MAGICIAN vanquished STONEWALL in a 2 minute
brutal one-sided fight. That flanking maneuver is Magellan's specialty, you know.
He was always sailing around things. Continents, globes, anything, around he'd go.
KING FORADAY (47-3762) (40-37-4,210) of ROYAL FLUSH fought SIR PLUS (10-4316)
(29-21-1,174) of SIR AGLIO. KING FORADAY was overpowered by SIR PLUS in a popular 1
minute one-sided duel. That's "King everywhere but in the Sir Aglio." Everyone has
limits.
KING UVDAHELL (47-1643) (31-12-1,208) of ROYAL FLUSH fought DUNEDIN (14-3703)
(28-32-0,155) of OTAGO HIGHLANDERS. KING UVDAHELL defeated DUNEDIN in a popular 3
minute match. Time for a fighting retreat to the highlands, Dunedin.
SANDMAN (11-3923) (50-51-2,196) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS fought PRIMUS (21-4975) (36-
12-0,195) of REAL BEER. SANDMAN was viciously subdued by PRIMUS in an action packed
7 minute bloody duel. This is our longest fight, at the end of which, everyone--
fighters, arena staff, and fans alike, was ready for a real beer. Fortunately,
Primus is buying.
WILLIE MAKIT (73-514) (101-38-2,198) of MISTAKEN IDENTITY fought WHEEL OF
FORTUNE (25-2529) (43-35-2,167) of DUELING FOR DOLLARS. WILLIE MAKIT killed WHEEL OF
FORTUNE in a 2 minute bout. Talk about ill fortune! This has got to be the KING of
bad luck. Good thing it happened here and not in Basic.
SNOOPER (1-5154) (33-17-3,274) of MIKE'S MISFITS fought FIGHTER ACE (47-1189)
(51-39-6,207) of ROYAL FLUSH. SNOOPER overpowered FIGHTER ACE in a 1 minute uneven
fight. What secrets did Snooper use to get the advantage over Ace? Only the Unknown
Spymaster knows for sure!
NEWT GINGRICH (5-3399) (69-25-0,227) of PARTY ANIMALS fought TATTOO (25-947)
(46-44-1,190) of CARNIVAL. NEWT GINGRICH overpowered TATTOO in a crowd pleasing 1
minute bloody mismatched fight. Rumor has it that some anonymous person paid a
couple members of the Infirmary staff to tattoo a target onto Tattoo. Can you
confirm?
GROLSCH (21-5029) (33-4-4,216) of REAL BEER fought LONALILTA (50-2806) (49-41-
2,208) of DARK SIDHE. GROLSCH luckily beat LONALILTA in an exciting 3 minute brutal
match. Obviously, Lonalilta is one who can appreciate a REAL beer. This may be a
picnic made in wherever it is that picnics are made.
KALANDRA (50-2443) (54-55-3,247) of DARK SIDHE fought JUNINHO (7-4001) (23-13-
1,190) of IMPORTED FOOTBALLERS. KALANDRA bested JUNINHO in a popular 2 minute brawl.
Only one more, Kalandra, and you'll have a winning record. Congratulations on
working your way up like that. But don't expect Juninho to be easy next time.
HEADACHE (60-3300) (49-36-0,282) of JOKA MASHER! fought BEAUTY QUEEN (47-3352)
(35-36-3,209) of ROYAL FLUSH. HEADACHE beat BEAUTY QUEEN in a 2 minute brawl. Hey,
nobody looks beautiful when she's got a headache. It's a law of nature.

     And the challenge matches--
DEBBIE DAHMER (45-3579) (20-5-1,71) of MORDRED'S MADMEN challenged LEVITICUS
(54-1687) (16-15-2,84) of THE WHITE COMPANY. Up 13. DEBBIE DAHMER was vanquished by
LEVITICUS in a 1 minute mismatched Challenge bout. You notice the significance of
their home arena numbers? They're inversions of each other. This means something
deep. Very deep, and probably dark, as deep things so often are.
SPLIT (78-2347) (19-12-0,39) of PBA challenged EGAN FORN (39-3295) (24-28-0,65)
of THE MIDDLE WAY. Up 26. SPLIT devastated EGAN FORN in a crowd pleasing 2 minute
mismatched Challenge bout. This is Egan Forn the Most Challenged, seen in his usual
position.
MERCY (54-1797) (16-9-0,73) of THE BLACK COMPANY challenged MATADOR (11-4139)
(37-32-2,99) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS. Up 26. MERCY viciously subdued MATADOR in an
exciting 3 minute brutal Challenge contest. White companies, black companines. Do
we have any gray companies? Red, blue, purple? Do we have chromatic discrimination
here? Tune in next time and see!
FEATHER (54-1742) (17-13-2,100) of THE WHITE COMPANY challenged AVONSIDE (13-
3927) (30-37-1,147) of KIWI CONNECTION. Up 47. FEATHER was subdued by AVONSIDE in a
crowd pleasing 1 minute Challenge match. Do kiwis have feathers? Maybe Avonside was
collecting enough for a set of wings. Although if I was a flightless bird, I think
I'd get an airline ticket.
BELGOROTH (50-3175) (28-27-0,147) of DARK SIDHE challenged TYRE (31-3713) (28-
18-0,155) of DARQUE FORCES. Up 8. BELGOROTH savagely defeated TYRE in a popular 3
minute gory Challenge melee. A dark match, as well as a gory one. The sun was
eclipsed during this match, so I didn't see much. Just the mess afterward.
*WINTER* (65-3644) (26-19-1,137) of ANCIENT KNIGHTS challenged CARLA (39-2428)
(58-69-1,136) of DRINKING BUDDIES. Down 1. *WINTER* vanquished CARLA in a popular 1
minute one-sided Challenge duel. It's encounters like this that drive Carla to
drink. So she says.
SANDPAWN (11-4169) (43-21-1,160) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS challenged KYRA (51-3774)
(41-38-1,156) of SAND DANCERS. Down 4. SANDPAWN unbelievably bested KYRA in an
action packed 5 minute gory Challenge duel. Believe it. Nobody fights well when
hung over, and it was NOT the Duelmaster you saw cramped under the table last night.
DISCO QUEEN (47-1992) (32-12-1,180) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged BUTCH (70-6657)
(31-23-2,186) of A UNIT. Up 6. DISCO QUEEN was viciously subdued by BUTCH in a 4
minute Challenge fight. What a dance she led him, though!
DAIRY QUEEN (47-2685) (58-35-2,176) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged SIR LY (10-4116)
(38-28-0,182) of SIR AGLIO. Up 6. DAIRY QUEEN luckily beat SIR LY in an exciting 3
minute bloody Challenge struggle. Bloody? Are you sure? I thought that was
strawberry syrup....
     MONKEY BUSINESS (25-4040) (28-16-1,196) of PRIMATES-R-US challenged SIDON (31-
3712) (30-21-2,200) of DARQUE FORCES. Up 4. MONKEY BUSINESS was demolished by SIDON
in a 1 minute Challenge competition. Does this mean no monkeying around in the dark?
SANDBLASTER (11-3899) (50-50-3,192) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS challenged PAT (35-2292)
(34-40-2,201) of COMMON JOE'S. Up 9. SANDBLASTER was viciously subdued by PAT in a
popular 2 minute gory Challenge contest. Now, this is news. I didn't know Pat was
vicious. Did you? He seemed like such a nice boy....
JACK VALTRAEDS (47-407) (81-58-2,199) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged KITALA THE BOLD
(78-875) (79-100-2,205) of SAND DANCERS. Up 6. JACK VALTRAEDS slimly won victory
over KITALA THE BOLD in a 6 minute Challenge match. Is this a case of One-Eyed Jacks
being wild? Or at least slim.
     SCUM #1 (50-2743) (45-50-0,211) of DARK SIDHE challenged TASHIA (11-2740) (28-
30-1,216) of DEADLY DE-PARTED. Up 5. SCUM #1 bested TASHIA in an exciting 4 minute
Challenge duel. As you can see, if you take a look at the back page, Scum #1 really
IS Number One in his style. It isn't every warrior whose name fits him well.

And for the title, FATHER OF ALL MUNS (20-2306) (31-39-1,212) of THE FAMILY TREE
(boldly) challenged ATONEMENT (82-761) (43-25-0,341) of A UNIT XV. Up 129. FATHER
OF ALL MUNS was bested by ATONEMENT in a 2 minute Challenge Title fight. A good try,
a very good one to go over one minute, but not quite good enough. Our salute to both
warriors.

Crip -- I just can't seem to learn against your warriors! -- Hannya

Maybe that's the lesson: avoid Crip's warriors?

Crip -- It is an honor to battle you. The fight between Disco Queen and Hannya was
one of the best fights I ever read! -- Abraxis

Atonement -- Congrats on taking the T.G. Title. -- Carny

Welcome -- To Sir Lancelot. It is an unwritten rule that your first ADM warrior is
very often followed by your second ADM warrior. Why that is I cannot tell you. --
Carny, Carnival

Probably because the rule-writers had no ink and paper handy.

AK47 -- The Carnival must disgrace with you on a point of logic. You see whenever
the Carnival arrives and sets up, that arena automatically becomes Andorian so that
means Crysalis is of course Andorian. Why that is, is very complex. -- Carny,
Carnival

Yes -- I make that unanimous as proved by my victory streak. -- Mountebank, Carnival

All -- Bear Keeper will arrive on a Unicorn. -- Carny

Snooper -- With that win and train, I declare you top ripper on the Sands. -- Jack
Valtraeds

Kalandra -- So much for my tourney showing. What is a TV good for? -- Juninho

It's someplace to put your keys when you come in the door.

Tashia -- You sure are hard to get hold of. -- F.O.A.D.

Father of All Muns -- Are you planning on staying around here for long? Those stat
raises seem to be adding up, and it is starting to show. -- Dairy Queen

Kitala The Bold -- If nothing else, your popularity title is safe. -- Grolsch

Hannya -- Who says size matters? -- Disco Queen

Sandblaster -- I've been exfoliated! -- Our Lady Peace

Sidon -- Thou shalt not get the jump on me. -- Ten Commandments

Fengar II -- OK, I concede the honour back to you. For now at least. -- Willie Makit

Pat -- Aren't you an old SNL skit? -- Newt Gingrich

Tempus -- Back so soon? -- King Uvdahell

Thanato -- Nice trio! Wish I could have some of those too. -- King Foraday

Scum #1 -- Please quit trying to live up to your name. It's exhausting for the rest
of us. -- Monkey Business

Dannia Tyl Sio -- You didn't deserve to lose that. -- Catfish Hunter

Sandman -- It's a lot easier to write in the beach than in the stones, trust me. --
Ten Commandments

Abby -- My hometown arena in Aruak City has been invaded by 50 anti-Andorian stables
with the sole mission to destroy our way of life. This is totally unacceptable to me
and my stable as we love our friends we left behind in Aruak City. My stable will
not stand by and do nothing. We will hunt down and destroy all who hate my kinsmen
no matter which city they hide in. I have no problem with getting your help in our
just cause. Being an Andorian does not make you honorable any more than being a
Delarquan makes you dishonorable. -- AK47

Brolscho -- You are welcome to come by our stable for free beer. We rejoice and
party to your combat skills as you gave the offender Kitala The Bold her 100th loss.
-- AK47 (drinking hard now)

Kyra -- Did you get tired and need to sleep? Look like I was the one Sand Dancing
not you when the fight ended for you. -- Sandpawn (hoping for a rematch against
hateful Sand Dancers)

AB Destined 4 the DA -- You are good warrior and I know your secret. Very clever of
you, may I be so bold to say. Perhaps I'll do better next time. -- Matador
(recalling his victory in the DA in blessed Aruak City after his invite, passage into
manhood)

Leviticus -- I detected your downchallenge on Mirta of the Hateful Sand Dancers
stable. Does this mean your stable White Company agrees our cause is just and will
join us? It is too bad you lose, but do come by our stable for some free beer. We
drink to Kitala The Bold's 100th loss. -- Stonewall (drinking to his long awaited
victory as he still can't get his final skill learned)

Tashia -- Once again you are top warrior of Aruak City. I salute you with respect.
I miss the leadership from Aruak City elders. My stable has history of single minded
on revenge when we are offended. Do we have the blessings of Aruak City Elders in
our cause to crush all who hate us? -- Sandman (kissing up)

Our Lady Peace -- You did not appear peaceful to me when you charged me and started
to beat me like a red-headed stepchild. We both got to hit each other once in our
battle but I got to hit you last. If I recall it right it went kinda like this. You
hit me, I hit you and you hit the floor. Better luck next time, you hard hitting
woman. -- Sandblaster (kinda rude due to drinking heavily but pleased with himself to
finally to be 50% win/loss warrior again)

Pine -- Well now, remind me not to make you desperate. It's like cornering a wild
cat. I'll be pulling pieces of "pine" out my butt all week. *grin* -- Mercy

All -- For any one that might be interested: I will be going to the Face this January
and I would be more than willing to proxy if any of you would like me to proxy for
you. Just let me know. -- the Mun

Grolsch -- I was honored to fight you, sir. You are a real beer. -- Kitala the Bold
but Not Unfeeling

Sandpawn -- How Andorian of you. I forgot to bring a book, so boredom got me after a
few minutes. -- Kyra

Leviticus -- Well challenged and well fought. -- Mirta
P.S. Watch out for those potions of healing. They may SAY now that they gave it to
you, but wait till you get the bill!

Debbie Dahmer -- My mama told me not to hit girls. That's been a real handicap ever
since I became a gladiator, and never more than now. -- Egan Forn

Catfish Hunter -- Sir! Do I look like a catfish? Surely not! -- Dannia tyl Sio

Baphomet -- I can't offer words of advice, perhaps, but I can issue a warning. If
you so much as look cross-eyed at an Andorian, certain managers here will immediately
declare you their enemy. Odd, how touchy some people are. -- Leeta, Sand Dancers and
other teams here
P.S. Also known as Jorja in Free Blades arenas. I wish you pleasure and good
fortune here on the Isle.

Abby -- Kitala, a warrior from Lin Tirian, spoke harshly to an Andorian warrior who
was, she claims, "too familiar." This anti-Andorianism has drawn a stern reaction
from the Andorian Knights stable. Frankly, I'd advise everybody to stay clear of it.
It looks like one of those nasty situations that will leave all participants feeling
bitter. -- Leeta

Let it be known far and wide, that the Warrior TUM 18-7380, the Champions Runner-Up
for the recent Tournament, is managed by none other than Shocking Toad. I named this
fabulous warrior after my friend and mentor, TUM, a.k.a. Don! Sorry TUM didn't get
me my first TC; however, a runner-up with all those sandbaggers is pretty impressive,
if I do say so myself. -- Shocking Toad, The Manager

All -- This is to announce that I am no longer a member of the Vendetta Cartel
Alliance. I have enjoyed my time there, and I've made some great friends. Their
company will be missed, but they will endure. I wish them well. -- Apex

Greetings! I would like to invite everyone to Jhans (DM 36) for the first annual kLk
St. Valentine's Day Massacre (kill contest). We will start the contest off with the
ceremonial burning of the Andorian flag on turn 450. (Six turns away. Roughly mid-
February.) The contest will run for 10 turns. On turn 461, 3 separate victors will
be announced. Team with the most kills, warrior with the most kills, and alliance
with the most kills. Prizes will be awarded to the manager of the team with the most
kills and to the manager of the warrior with the most kills. The prizes will
probably be team roll-ups. The number of roll-ups has yet to be determined. The
contest is sponsored by Jhans' newest, (but by the time the contest starts) largest
alliance, the kLk (pronounced "klick"). -- Polarius, mgr. of Blitzkrieg DM 36
