THE GUARDIAN'S FORUM
Reflections by the Chief Tower Guard
Well, I'm still here. Seems Balclutha just didn't pack enough of a punch and
ran out of steam. If my challenge goes through, I hope Fengar II suffers the same
fate. Um, don't know what else to say, so, ah, good luck to all, 'cept Fengar.
Scum #1
REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
Since when does Snide Clemens have beauty? Oh, right, he doesn't because he
keeps getting disturbed to do spy reports. A likely story! He just likes to
complain, but he is WELL aware that if weren't for "a bunch of Crysalis brutes like
you," he wouldn't exist. In fact...I wonder how many of you brutes in Crysalis and
elsewhere would have to protest to get him kicked off the Commission staff? Let him
see how much good his so-called beauty rest does him when he ISN'T disturbed, eh?
Ah, and he doesn't like the ale at our taverns, well, if he wasn't a spy
reporter, he wouldn't be getting it for free. Then maybe it would be better.
Something he didn't think about: you get what you pay for. And he's always been a
tightwad.
Royal Flush was avoided by Andorian Knights. Sounds like a plan to me. Some
kind of feud there, I believe. Best to stay out of it. The only feuds one should
participate in are one's own.
Wild Card Hammer got the most challenges. Why? Did this Hammer look like an
easy win?
Forty-one fights, twenty-one challenge matches, and I don't feel like going into
the unutterably gory details of all the fights. Maybe all the challenge matches.
Maybe not.
Ah, here's something of slight interest. DISCO QUEEN (47-1992) (35-15-1,196) of
ROYAL FLUSH fought SIR PLUS (10-4316) (32-27-1,188) of SIR AGLIO. DISCO QUEEN was
viciously subdued by SIR PLUS in a popular 3 minute brutal fray. Does this sudden
display of viciousness mean that Sir Plus will be with us for a little longer? I
seem to recall his fate was in doubt. We need more vicious warriors.
So, nothing else catches my eye in the random matches, and here are the
challenge matches.
BLANK (78-2374) (15-9-2,47) of TREE PEOPLE challenged POPPY HAMMER (28-3318)
(17-11-0,53) of FLOWER HAMMERZ. Up 6. BLANK was overpowered by POPPY HAMMER in a 1
minute uneven Challenge fray. "Blank"? What kind of name is that for a warrior?
Besides, he, she, or most probably it, lost. Pfui.
JUNIPER (78-2275) (15-2-1,48) of TREE PEOPLE challenged RANDOM MATCHUP (96-1048)
(10-7-3,62) of OVERRATED. Up 14. JUNIPER was overpowered by RANDOM MATCHUP in a 1
minute uneven Challenge fight. Yes, well, you know how it is with random matchups...
and the luckless warrior of that name just proved his/her/its manager's judgment:
overrated.
MANZANITA (78-2276) (19-3-0,55) of TREE PEOPLE challenged BINGE N PURGE (45-
3567) (20-11-0,67) of EMETICS. Up 12. MANZANITA was overpowered by BINGE N PURGE in
a 1 minute mismatched Challenge fight. Oh, superb. Can't you just see the news
flash now? Tree overpowered by Emetic. Any minute we'll have a tree specialist
writing in to tell us that trees aren't susceptible to emetics. We knew that.
GUTTERBALL (78-2344) (20-17-1,78) of PBA challenged KISSYFUR (67-2187) (23-11-
1,99) of ALL-STAR NANA'S. Up 21. GUTTERBALL was overpowered by KISSYFUR in a 1
minute one-sided Challenge bout. Gutterball? Kissyfur? These are WARRIORS? These
are names that will strike fear into the bowels of their enemies, and cheer on the
legions of their supporters? Somehow...I doubt this.
PROOKIE (78-2345) (22-14-1,71) of PBA challenged SNOWFALL (45-3473) (27-15-0,86)
of NORTHERN LIGHTS. Up 15. PROOKIE was bested by SNOWFALL in a 2 minute Challenge
brawl. "Prookie," too. I shudder to think what this may mean for the forces of
Crysalis and the Isle.
PINE (78-2350) (22-10-1,57) of TREE PEOPLE challenged LAPHROAIG (31-4529) (18-
14-0,67) of SINGLE MALTS. Up 10. PINE was overcome by LAPHROAIG in a 2 minute
bloody Challenge bout. "Laphoraig"? Well, it doesn't sound SILLY, which is
something, but how do you PRONOUNCE it? What happened to names like "Killer"? Oh,
they've been used already? So? They aren't active NOW, so who cares about that?
300 (78-2346) (22-16-0,140) of PBA challenged TEMPUS (31-538) (38-36-0,177) of
THE STORMGUARDS. Up 37. 300 was overpowered by TEMPUS in a crowd pleasing 1 minute
one-sided Challenge duel. Which just proves how little numbers know. Anyone ELSE
would have seen that this was a sure-loss fight. Oh, well, I don't suppose Tempus
will turn down the win.
SPLIT (78-2347) (24-15-0,110) of PBA challenged LUMBERING WAIF (8-4346) (18-11-
0,140) of HAPLESS WAIF. Up 30. SPLIT was overpowered by LUMBERING WAIF in a 1
minute mismatched Challenge conflict. The ignominy of it, to be overpowered by a
mere lumbering waif!
SINYAMEGIL (50-2952) (25-22-0,133) of DARK SIDHE challenged TASHIA (11-2740)
(28-39-1,139) of DEADLY DE-PARTED. Up 6. SINYAMEGIL was devastated by TASHIA in a 1
minute one-sided Challenge battle. And Sinyamegil may count his/her self lucky,
because Tashia might have proved deadly, after all. People who hang out in morgues
learn no skills and train no stats.
MATADOR (11-4139) (45-33-2,102) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS challenged KYRA (51-3774)
(41-47-1,135) of SAND DANCERS. Up 33. MATADOR was savagely defeated by KYRA in a
crowd pleasing 1 minute Challenge match. Yes, well, I often suspected that little
lady of having a savage temper. Now we see.
BURGER KING (47-4152) (31-27-2,148) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged AVONSIDE (13-3927)
(32-43-1,168) of KIWI CONNECTION. Up 10. BURGER KING handily defeated AVONSIDE in a
1 minute one-sided Challenge bout. I take it this means Burger used his hands? And
what else WOULD he use? Well, weapons, of course, but they were IN his hands.
JACK SPRAT (47-2954) (49-57-4,131) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged WILD CARD HAMMER
(33-6864) (26-17-2,137) of CASINO HAMMERZ. Up 6. JACK SPRAT defeated WILD CARD
HAMMER in an exciting 1 minute Challenge fight. This is the Most Defeated, oops, I
mean Most Challenged Wild Card Hammer. In case you wanted to know.
SIR YDER (31-4353) (27-10-0,151) of WILLBENDERS challenged JUAN (41-2304) (28-
19-0,193) of DREAM TEAMS. Up 42. SIR YDER was overpowered by JUAN in a 1 minute
uneven Challenge duel. Yder? I don't recognize the family. But then, a Free
Blader, who cares? The only true knights are Delarquan anyway.
KING FORADAY (47-3762) (42-41-4,177) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged KRAC D'CHEVALIERS
(31-4345) (21-26-0,180) of THE STORMGUARDS. Up 3. KING FORADAY vanquished KRAC
D'CHEVALIERS in a 1 minute uneven Challenge duel. This was, no doubt, King's "day."
Good thing he's only king for one.
SANDBLASTER (11-3899) (53-56-3,196) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS challenged BALCLUTHA
(14-3169) (29-36-1,198) of OTAGO HIGHLANDERS. Up 2. SANDBLASTER defeated BALCLUTHA
in a 2 minute Challenge melee. Storming the highlands. They tell me that's a good
strategy. I wouldn't know. Too many storms up there.
SANDMAN (11-3923) (54-56-2,210) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS challenged KITALA THE BOLD
(78-875) (86-102-2,210) of SAND DANCERS. Straight across. SANDMAN bested KITALA THE
BOLD in a crowd pleasing 6 minute bloody Challenge match. The crowd was thrilled
(bloodthirsty lot of sods and bods), and Sandman was doubtless thrilled, but Kitala's
probably fit to chew nails. Sixteen-penny nails.
SANDPAWN (11-4169) (50-23-1,202) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS challenged PAUL (35-2349)
(36-39-2,203) of COMMON JOE'S. Up 1. SANDPAWN was viciously subdued by PAUL in an
action packed 3 minute Challenge brawl. Let this be a warning to you all, when ol'
Common Joe keeps a Paul, he keeps a vicious one.
TEN COMMANDMENTS (47-3843) (39-35-0,184) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged CRUSADER LORD
(31-3946) (42-32-5,189) of THE STORMGUARDS. Up 5. TEN COMMANDMENTS was assassinated
by CRUSADER LORD in a 1 minute Challenge fight. Ah, a death. Always a crowd-
pleaser, deaths. So dramatic. Tough luck on Ten, but some people just don't like
being told what to do.
DAIRY QUEEN (47-2685) (62-37-2,199) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged SIR LY (10-4116)
(43-32-0,202) of SIR AGLIO. Up 3. DAIRY QUEEN savagely defeated SIR LY in a crowd
pleasing 3 minute Challenge duel. Does this mean that Sir Ly is soothed? Oh, it was
soothing the savage breast, not savagely soothing...well, some other time, then.
HANNYA (73-4350) (29-10-1,215) of BLOOD LUST challenged SNOOPER (1-5154) (41-18-
3,265) of MIKE'S MISFITS. Up 50. Insane. HANNYA was subdued by SNOOPER in an
exciting 1 minute Challenge melee. And about what was expected by one and all.
Odd, there seems to be something in the air here that subdues my savage humors.
I hope I don't have to stay long, it could be habit-forming!
And for the title: SCUM #1 (50-2743) (50-53-0,245) of DARK SIDHE challenged
FENGAR II (20-61) (113-79-2,297) of OVERLORDS. Up 52. SCUM #1 was viciously subdued
by FENGAR II in a 8 minute Challenge Title fight. And congratulations are in order
to Scum for a bold challenge and Fengar for a successful battle.

PERSONAL CORRESPONDENCE
The Icelord -- Sure, I'll go for a little party on turn #150. Presuming others speak
up in favor of trying something new to break the monotony, my two warriors, Sir Vivor
and Sir Plus, will go bare-handed that turn. However, since some styles (LU, BA, AB)
will have definite advantages and neither of my two warriors fall into those types, I
would further suggest that there be no challenges or avoids that turn as well. Let
fate decide! -- Sultan
P.S. Great idea!
All -- I vote in favor of The Icelord's idea to run bare-handed on turn #150 (see
above personal). My support of this idea presupposes that no one gets chastised for
not following along. This has to be voluntary. -- Sultan
But I LIKE chastizing people! -- Ketchum
Dairy Queen -- That train may have pushed you up to the next level, whereas my lack
of training, turn after turn, may push ME into retirement! -- Sir Plus
Bulldogs -- Welcome, welcome, welcome! It is a good day to see an Aruak City Elder
here. How goes the war in Aruak City? Is there a hateful manager here hiding that
we could attack? -- AK47 (bring over a slab of ribs as a welcome gift)
Icelord -- Turn 150 I will dish out bare-knuckles sandwiches as it is agreed. Who
else will agree to a match? I am considering a cease fire in feud for turn 150. I
have got five warriors to send into arena naked. -- AK47 (believing dim-witted tough
warriors of his will do good unarmed)
Babe-O-Meat -- Sir Laughalot is so far down in the ranking I cannot even
downchallenge him with my weakest warrior if I wanted to. Which I do want to. --
AK47 (noticing Egan Forn is in same boat as Sir Laughalot)
Kitala The Bold -- We are ranked even now. Should we dance? Perhaps I'll lead this
time. -- Sandman (ready to lead her to a hole 6 ft deep)
Shadows -- My stable only downchallenges those stables which are feuding with us.
Otherwise we challenge up in rankings also. -- AK47 (feuding stables should
downchallenge back but only threaten too)
Crysalis -- How many are willing to have all their warriors run with no armor/
weapons/helm/shield on turn #150? Sure, the AB's would have an advantage but a good
all-out bare-handed brawl would be a great way to celebrate turn #150! Knuckles,
knees and elbows in the old beak always make such a pleasant sound and the fans will
be going wild! How about a little "Crysalis Craziness"? I am in if everyone else
is. -- The Icelord
AK47 -- I assume I can count you in on turn #150 for a little bare-handed combat,
correct? Hopefully, everyone else will agree. -- The Icelord
Spymaster Ketchum -- What do you think of the idea of everyone fighting bare-handed
on turn #150? -- The Icelord (if you support it, can you let the GC know it?)
What has the Commission to do with it? Managers send in strategies on their
own, and the Commission doesn't meddle in that. Good thing, too! How would YOU
like it if the Commission monitored your strategies and altered them if some
Commissioner didn't think they were appropriate? There's too much of this "let
Big Brother handle it" around as it is!
Crip -- Turn #150 is several months off and you already say "I don't see having the
time for this one"? C'mon now, save some face, and support this one. Crysalis needs
you to support this one, if you don't, it will be a no go. -- The Icelord
High Lord Bosk -- Salute, warrior! Have secured the new castle and things are
progressing smoothly. Come on over for a Sam Adams Double Bock, my brother. Tal. --
The Icelord
Crysalis -- What's behind this thread on down-challenging in Crysalis? Just curious.
-- The Icelord
Don't ask. It's a long and sad story. -- K
Did anyone see the movie "King Arthur"? Thoughts? It was no "Braveheart" (of
course), I would say it was like "The 13th Warrior." -- The Icelord
If it's the one I'm thinking of, I've heard extremely ill of it. Not that I
know what a movie is. -- K
Kalandra -- So what good is it to be a striker if you can't even attack first? Woe
is me! -- Beauty Queen
Mirta -- My reign is in jeopardy. -- King Foraday
Zebra Hammer -- I thought you were wasted, not black and white and read all over. --
Burger King
300 -- I'm far from perfect. -- Jack Sprat
Sandblaster -- Justice being served. -- Grolsch
Belgoroth -- So close to the big upset, but you seem to have lady luck on your side
this summer. -- Dairy Queen
Dunedin -- I like my men taller than me. -- Disco Queen
Prince of Ar -- File a protest with the MUGS, that was plain rude to you. -- Primus
Feather -- Thanks so much for that boost, now I get to change my training plan. --
Ten Commandments
Icelord -- Yes, I support the idea of armourless battle on Turn 150, but no armour or
armor or headgear allowed. That way willing combatants can use vs. weights (0-1)
Fist and 2+ Other Weapons who are likely to be those other warriors around here who
aren't paying attention and failing to change strategies every turn. -- Crip
AK47 -- You have obviously misunderstood the true Andorian way. Look at Aruak City.
Those who come in and blatantly disregard the accepted code of Andorian conduct are
handled in like fashion. Your sworn enemy Kitala nor her stablemates has never to my
knowledge, issued a downchallenge on the sands. If you lack the wits to handle her
teammates by challenging up for your wins or by engaging in verbal repartee, then I
suggest that you should be transferring to Noblish Island where you are sure to find
of sufficient experience in the game that you will find the mental stimulation
somewhat satisfactory. -- Crip
Crysalis -- Or perhaps more specifically Abby, Abraxis, Woelfe, Berylstar,
Brewmaster, Icelord, Daehir, Solomon, Mun, Hammer, Sultan, H.L. Bosk, Mannequin,
Master Darque and your many personalities, Baphomet, THawk and other managers here
besides AK47 -- If the Andorian Knights (or other stables) don't cease their
downchallenging ways, maybe we should all start downchallenging them en masse to send
a message. After all, he can only avoid 2 managers per turn, and although death
isn't a factor here, it will surely become frustrating. Of course, getting the likes
of the VC and the COL sort of on the same side could be one of the sure signs of a
pending apocalypse! I still have not started to issue the downchallenges yet, but my
fuse is probably down to about 1/64th of an inch. -- Crip
Turn 146 Downchallenge report -- Two downchallenges went through -- Andorian Knights
1 Downchallenge out of 1 successful challenge, average rec. difference of -39 points.
Tree People/PBA 1 Downchallenge out of 5 challenges issued. average rec. difference
of +4 points. -- Crip
The Icelord -- I will indeed run bare-handed on turn 150. It is the celebration of a
wonderful occasion. Maybe we'll all find new favorite weapons! Hussah! -- High Lord
Bosk
AK47 -- I see you are still winning friends and influencing people! Get ready for
some repercussions from your Down Challenging the Middle Way and any stables managed
by Jorja because she DOES NOT Blood Feud and probably DOES NOT Avoid. She is a
Personal Friend of Mine in the game as well as a Personal Friend in the game of MANY
of the Managers currently active in DM 106. You ARE Painting a Target On Yourself by
such Dueling Decisions! Good to see you are still playing the game and enjoying
stirring up controversy wherever you play! -- Hammer
P.S. Thanks for the recognition and salute to me as your former mentor! Anything
you learned from me will have to be implemented because from reading the various
warnings in recent newsletters you are about to be the subject of a MASS Manhunt for
Down Challenging Everyones' Friend!
King Foraday -- And today was mine, apparently. Good try, though. -- Mirta
Sir Yder -- About what I'd expect of a Dwarf. Strong, not to hot on social chitchat,
and done in a hurry. -- Kyra
P.S. Hairy, too.
Matador -- Still inflating your record, I see. -- Egan Forn
Prookie -- We always knew the northerners were strange (I AM from Miroi T'Chi-Chang,
even if my dumb manager did send us to Fratsfa for a few months), but... "Prookie"?
Very odd name. Still, if it works for you.... -- Dannia tyl Sio
Avonside -- (bows slightly) It's been a long time since that arena closed. It's
good to see that there are still a few warriors around who remember it. -- Kitala the
Bold
Manzanita -- But you look GOOD with snow on your branches and berries! -- Snowfall
AK47 -- You have a neat way of twisting things to suit your wants. Since T138, you
have challenged the Sand Dancers 18 times. You've matched with them only three.
Your record vs. Sand Dancers is 15-6-0. For all your posturing, considering you do a
bunch of downchallenging, and swearing you're Andorian...you're full of it. Mostly,
full of cowardice. I don't know, but...I'd venture to say that there's an arena full
of folks who'll smack the "plate" out of your hands and shove in down your throat.
I've only got one here (or anywhere else for that matter), but I'm willing to give it
a shot. Care to face *ME* big boy? I'd insult Andorians (and I have a lot in the
past), but I've got too many friends who actually do have some honor. You don't!!!
-- Baphomet, mgr. Knights Templar
Goat -- Welcome to Crysalis. -- Baphomet
Crip -- Got info and styles I'll be sending to you shortly. -- Baphomet
Icelord -- Mostly, I'm a cooperative sort (sort of, that is) and I'm open to doing
whatever. -- Baphomet
30 July 2004
The total number of fights calculated was reported as 250 fights. This is a
misprint. It should have read "over 2,500 fights." -- Baphomet
