Oh, yes? Doesn't look like it to ME. In his own way, Vir is as obnoxious as
Clemens, and almost as ugly. He's Ferencian, you know. Oily, too smooth by half,
and totally without scruples.
Regardless of which, or perhaps despite which, here we are with a new year. Or
maybe this is a significant factor, one with dire omens. After all, would YOU buy a
new year from a Ferencian? Be that as it may (or may not, remember), here is a
little dueling news. Not a lot, you can find all sorts of statistics in the back of
the newsletter, but just the high points.
Unfit to Be Orcs (how well they are named!) was avoided by Lenpros.
Dannia tyl Sio got the most challenges. I hear she was offering some of the
extra ones to other, non-challenged warriors for a very modest fee.
Nobody died. Just as well, that definitely WOULD be a bad omen with which to
begin a new year.
Twenty-two fights total. Is this good or bad? I don't remember. Only one
standby, so that, at least, is good. We don't want to see a lot of standbys out
there getting experience and skills! Down that road lies TROUBLE. Imagine it! You
bump someone in the street, perhaps, or beat him out to the last cab, and he turns
around and guts you? I don't think so! Bad enough when we had the mimes training
here.
SUNFLASH (45-3474) (28-32-1,70) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought ZIT (8-4385) (15-2-
0,47) of Z GLADIATORZ. SUNFLASH was defeated by ZIT in an action packed 4 minute
fight. This must be embarrassing. Sunflash will have to rename herself Shunflash
until she clears up her complexion.
HOLLAN INNIS (50-3388) (20-24-0,63) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought SARA (44-1824) (16-9-
1,72) of MORE DESTROYERS. HOLLAN INNIS devastated SARA in a 1 minute one-sided bout.
One could make remarks here about Sara's team name as contrasted with her
performance, but my new year's resolve is to be more polite. On the surface.
ELLITA FESS (50-3392) (25-25-1,83) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought CAPTURED PIRATE KING
(106-2) (0-0-0,30) of Random Men on the Street. ELLITA FESS overpowered CAPTURED
PIRATE KING in a 2 minute gruesome uneven fray. And I give Ms. Fess warning: kings,
pirate or not, are inclined to send their executioners to call on people who
overpower them in public.
EGAN FORN (39-3295) (30-49-0,48) of THE MIDDLE WAY fought LANIK MUELLER (65-
3632) (15-6-2,69) of PHAZE PHOLKS. EGAN FORN was overpowered by LANIK MUELLER in an
exciting 1 minute uneven phight. This is not a new experience for the Forn, eh? Or
must he now call himself Egan Phorn? I like that.
MANNAZ THORSSON (73-4269) (18-11-1,71) of ODIN'S CHOSEN fought SNOWFALL (45-
3473) (35-25-0,66) of NORTHERN LIGHTS. MANNAZ THORSSON was overpowered by SNOWFALL
in a 1 minute mismatched fight. But he looks so pretty under that smooth, white
blanket of snow. I didn't think anything could make him look that... calm.
RANDOM MATCHUP (96-1048) (17-11-4,117) of OVERRATED fought GILIA HARN (50-3391)
(25-26-0,95) of MIDDLE WAY 6. RANDOM MATCHUP beat GILIA HARN in an exciting 2 minute
brutal match. Desperate things, random matches. You just don't know what will
happen. Quite chaotic, when you think about it.
KYRA (51-3774) (52-54-1,166) of SAND DANCERS fought BEAR ACUDA (47-4995) (21-10-
1,116) of THE BEAR'S PAW. KYRA devastated BEAR ACUDA in a 1 minute one-sided brawl.
This is in keeping with all sorts of data, such as the records of the two, and Kyra's
known character.
ROTTEN LIVER (52-2902) (31-12-1,200) of OTTO'S PARTS fought ORANGE CRUSH (48-
3809) (21-8-1,180) of COLORIFIC. ROTTEN LIVER overcame ORANGE CRUSH in a crowd
pleasing 1 minute bout. I can't imagine what pleased the crowd about this! The very
idea is nauseating. It confirms my long-held doubts about the sanity of arena
crowds.
GRINNON BEARIT (47-2955) (34-19-3,205) of THE BEAR'S PAW fought RAVISHING REDBUD
(52-3197) (29-7-0,194) of FLOWER GIRLS. GRINNON BEARIT was unbelievably bested by
RAVISHING REDBUD in a 2 minute bout. Unbelievable, yes, I didn't know that kind of
thing was physically possible. But Grinnon appears to have been enjoying it.
TOADKILLER DOG (47-1103) (24-6-1,202) of WASTED SCUM fought JACK VALTRAEDS (47-
407) (94-63-2,203) of ROYAL FLUSH. TOADKILLER DOG was devastated by JACK VALTRAEDS
in a 3 minute mismatched bout. And what could you expect, after all? Jack raises
toads, is he going to appreciate having some dog come along and kill them? I think
not!
GROLSCH (21-5029) (44-7-4,196) of REAL BEER fought WARLORD (53-722) (34-23-
0,163) of THE UNHOLY ONES. GROLSCH bested WARLORD in an exciting 4 minute battle.
I've never seen a warlord get that drunk before. Especially not on BEER. No doubt
about it, this is REAL beer. Not the kid stuff.
FIGHTER ACE (47-1189) (63-45-6,266) of ROYAL FLUSH fought MIRTA (51-4033) (55-
40-1,185) of SAND DANCERS. FIGHTER ACE savagely defeated MIRTA in a crowd pleasing 3
minute bloody match. But naturally! The Ace has more of everything than Mirta.
Ah... except for those things which are uniquely feminine. He doesn't have those.
JUNINHO (7-4001) (31-16-1,215) of IMPORTED FOOTBALLERS fought SIR LY (10-4116)
(54-39-0,199) of SIR AGLIO. JUNINHO was savagely defeated by SIR LY in a popular 3
minute gory melee. Actually, I don't believe that "savagely" is the right
description. But I suppose it sounds better than "surlyly." Or maybe it should be
"surrely"? Or for the linguistic sticklers, perhaps "in a surly manner," but that
sounds ALL WRONG for describing a fight.
PRIMUS (21-4975) (48-14-0,213) of REAL BEER fought STIGMA OF STUPID (31-4948)
(24-5-1,182) of UNFIT TO BE ORCS. PRIMUS luckily beat STIGMA OF STUPID in a 2 minute
fight. Which just proves that Stigma is, indeed, unfit to be an orc. Everyone knows
that orcs can hold their beer. And the beer of everybody else in the room if you
don't watch them closely.
MATADOR (11-4139) (53-43-3,220) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS fought KING FORADAY (47-
3762) (51-45-4,211) of ROYAL FLUSH. MATADOR was vanquished by KING FORADAY in an
action packed 1 minute one-sided duel. And THIS was the King's DAY.

(18-13-3,93) of VALHALLA. Up 17. SENATOR SEDALIA luckily beat BALDER in an exciting
4 minute bloody Challenge struggle. Luck and a long struggle? I think you need to
check the polls before you try this again, Sedalia. Yes, it worked ONCE, but a
politician should not be a gambler.

bloody Challenge duel. Much is explained if we are to understand that it takes a
cannon to bring down a bear. Such as why there are so many bears around. Because
there are very few cannons.
MELTDOWN (8-4353) (23-12-0,91) of X-FORCE challenged WHACKING WILLOW (52-3167)
(32-8-1,150) of FLOWER GIRLS. Up 59. MELTDOWN was viciously subdued by WHACKING
WILLOW in a 19 minute Challenge battle. After nineteen minutes of whacking, there is
very little of Meltdown left. Just a sort of melted puddle on the sands.
