Reflections by the Chief Tower Guard
Hey, whaddayaknow, Crip's Crap can talk. After moving last summer and probably
only spending two of the last six months not on the road, Crip has been attempting to
stabilize his DM plate of late. Just this week, he filed away his fights from the
Oct 2004 (yes, '04 not '05) tourney! But catching up he is, and the muzzle is
coming off his warriors fairly soon. Glad to have King Uvdahell on the throne,
probably the biggest warrior to hold the throne in Crysalis in a long long time
(particularly given the monthly turnaround of this arena). The only thing we can't
figure out is how did Sir Ly lose the throne in the first place. If Crip were
sending in challenges this turn, we'd be offering the throne back to Sultan's Swats,
but a bunch of strats were sent in before seeing the turn results, so no one is
really sure who is challenging who.

Snide Clemens. It figures. The little creep is always trying to slide in where
he isn't wanted and, oh, no, that isn't a dagger he's carrying! That's just his pen.
Bah.
Andorian Knights were avoided by Royal Flush. Crip uses his tools of
management. What else is new?
Grinnon Bearit got the most challenges. Is he grinning? I can't tell from
here.
Hmm, just scanning down the fights, I see a conspicuous absence of Consortium
warriors. Somebody locate them, please, and make sure they're here next time.
Twenty-six fights, which is respectable in these degenerate days, eleven of them
involving standbys, which is NOT respectable. Was everybody avoiding everybody else?
Where is that note from the steward? Hmm. Yes, apparently everyone WAS avoiding
everybody else, or very nearly. Nineteen avoids were issued! Compared to this, the
six challenges that went through are piffling. Truly piffling. However, if this is
what we have to work with, we'll work with it.
SUNFLASH (45-3474) (28-33-1,60) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought CAPTURED PIRATE KING
(106-2) (0-0-0,30) of the College of Mimes. SUNFLASH overpowered CAPTURED PIRATE
KING in a 2 minute brutal uneven competition. Very good, even if this was only a
pretend Pirate King. Mimes deserve everything that comes to them. And two minutes
of brutality sounds good.
SNOWFALL (45-3473) (36-25-0,84) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought R.O.U.S. (106-4) (0-0-
0,50) of the College of Mimes. SNOWFALL vanquished R.O.U.S. in a 2 minute gruesome
one-sided fray. Ah, yes, the rats. The Rats Of Unusual Size. Death to them all, is
what *I* say. You think it's a man in a rat mask? Not so! The rats on the Isle
are... extraordinary. Myself, I think it's a mistake to let them enter the arena and
train. They'll end up eating us all.
EGAN FORN (39-3295) (30-50-0,46) of THE MIDDLE WAY fought R.O.U.S. (106-4) (0-0-
0,50) of the College of Mimes. EGAN FORN savagely defeated R.O.U.S. in an action
packed 3 minute brutal match. Whether this is the same rat or a different one, I
can't say. They all look alike to me. Rather like Novgorodny Vir, in fact. Do you
suppose...?
HOLLAN INNIS (50-3388) (21-24-0,82) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought ALASTARIAN DESERTER
(106-1) (0-0-0,30) of the College of Mimes. HOLLAN INNIS was overpowered by
ALASTARIAN DESERTER in a 1 minute one-sided duel. How, I wonder, does one "desert"
Alastari? That name designates a (small) landmass with many different political
entities on it. I wouldn't think you could technically desert such a general area.
But perhaps he had the unmitigated gall to try moving to some other, more peaceful,
area? Well, whatever, he was brought back and forced to become a model for the
Mimes. Is there a worse fate? Don't answer that one.
TAOS (26-4042) (16-10-1,97) of HERE TO PHOENIX fought SIR DA (10-5586) (16-11-
3,62) of SIR AGLIO. TAOS overpowered SIR DA in a 1 minute one-sided duel. A lively
place, Taos. Lightning everywhere. Oh, yes, don't let them tell you otherwise.
I've been there and seen it.
FIVE GOLDEN RINGS (16-4331) (29-3-0,120) of GOLDEN GLADIATORS fought GENERAL
PUBLIC (31-3112) (17-14-1,92) of MILITARY MAYHEM. FIVE GOLDEN RINGS was viciously
subdued by GENERAL PUBLIC in an exciting 3 minute bout. Too good for the public, too
rich. The public is quite content with brass rings. Ask any merry-go-round
operator.
CANNONBALL (72-5313) (21-13-0,118) of X-POSSE fought GILIA HARN (50-3391) (25-
27-0,100) of MIDDLE WAY 6. CANNONBALL easily killed GILIA HARN in a 1 minute uneven
duel. It seems a drastic weapon to use in the arena, but if the stewards didn't step
in (not that they would, the cowards!), then Gilia has no grounds for complaint.
ORPHAN (72-5463) (22-10-2,148) of X-POSSE fought BEAR ACUDA (47-4995) (21-11-
1,119) of THE BEAR'S PAW. ORPHAN was overpowered by BEAR ACUDA in a popular 1 minute
one-sided duel. One way or another, in fact, Orphan is lunch. And when you're an
orphan, who cares, eh?
SANDBLASTER (11-3899) (66-62-3,195) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS fought KYRA (51-3774)
(53-54-1,169) of SAND DANCERS. SANDBLASTER overcame KYRA in a crowd pleasing 4
minute gory competition. Crowds love gore. One of those little details that makes
me loathe a crowd. And distrust it. Crowds have no morals, you see, and no
compassion.
BURGER KING (47-4152) (38-32-3,203) of ROYAL FLUSH fought MATADOR (11-4139) (53-
44-3,193) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS. BURGER KING was overpowered by MATADOR in a popular 1
minute one-sided bout. Can this be a surprise? A matador may get as hungry as any
man, and while a burger is not every man's meat, it will do. Especially with bacon
and cheese.
TEN COMMANDMENTS (47-3843) (47-39-1,206) of ROYAL FLUSH fought AMBER WOLFWALKER
(106-11) (0-0-0,220) of the College of Mimes. TEN COMMANDMENTS devastated AMBER
WOLFWALKER in an exciting 1 minute one-sided brawl. Amber thought there were only
nine, you see.
BEAUTY QUEEN (47-3352) (43-46-3,194) of ROYAL FLUSH fought ARENAMASTER SANDAVOL
(106-28) (0-0-0,200) of the College of Mimes. BEAUTY QUEEN was overcome by
ARENAMASTER SANDAVOL in a crowd pleasing 2 minute bout. Even on the Isle, an
arenamaster is not to be underrated. True, we do not like to see him working with
the Mimes, but a man must eat every day, and the arena requires him only once every
four weeks.
JUNINHO (7-4001) (31-17-1,201) of IMPORTED FOOTBALLERS fought DANNIA TYL SIO
(52-3393) (47-31-1,188) of SAND DANCERS. JUNINHO viciously subdued DANNIA TYL SIO in
a crowd pleasing 4 minute gruesome bout. The crowds... vicious also, I fear, quite
bloodthirsty. Be sure never to be found on the street when a crowd gets... hungry.
JACK VALTRAEDS (47-407) (95-63-2,225) of ROYAL FLUSH fought THE BLACKSMITH (106-
22) (0-0-0,181) of the College of Mimes. JACK VALTRAEDS overpowered THE BLACKSMITH
in a 2 minute gory mismatched conflict. It would appear that Jack is not a dull boy.
But then, we knew that.
FIGHTER ACE (47-1189) (64-45-6,278) of ROYAL FLUSH fought CRYSALIS GUARD (106-
29) (0-0-0,200) of the College of Mimes. FIGHTER ACE handily defeated CRYSALIS GUARD
in an exciting 1 minute one-sided contest. This does not make it easier for us, Ace.
We rely on the Guards to defend the cash box from which the entire staff is paid, and
if the crowds, which are, as noted elsewhere, quite immoral, or should I say amoral?
If they see the Guards being so easily subdued, they will not respect the defense nor
fear the consequences of a "smash and grab" operation.
DISCO QUEEN (47-1992) (41-21-1,215) of ROYAL FLUSH fought CRYSALIS GUARD (106-
29) (0-0-0,200) of the College of Mimes. DISCO QUEEN narrowly defeated CRYSALIS
GUARD in an exciting 7 minute bloody match. I know I should chide the Queen for this
further diminution of the respect in which the Crysalis Guards are held, but the
spectacle! Seven minutes of the wildest dancing! It was truly amazing. And we can
hope that the flashing lights prevented most of the audience from seeing the details.
DAIRY QUEEN (47-2685) (71-40-3,213) of ROYAL FLUSH fought ARENAMASTER SANDAVOL
(106-28) (0-0-0,200) of the College of Mimes. DAIRY QUEEN savagely defeated
ARENAMASTER SANDAVOL in an action packed 6 minute match. Ah, is this "payback" for
the humiliation of her teammate, Beauty Queen? Well done, Dairy, and I'll have mine
chocolate dipped and sprinkled with nuts.
KING FORADAY (47-3762) (52-45-4,227) of ROYAL FLUSH fought RIRORNI CAPTAIN (106-
26) (0-0-0,200) of the College of Mimes. KING FORADAY overpowered RIRORNI CAPTAIN in
a popular 1 minute uneven duel. I fear the Rirorni have never quite grasped the
behavior expected of mimes, though they do try. Sometimes too hard, I fear.
PRIMUS (21-4975) (49-14-0,224) of REAL BEER fought MIRTA (51-4033) (55-41-1,192)
of SAND DANCERS. PRIMUS won victory over MIRTA in a 2 minute duel. To be expected.
Women should not drink.
And the challenge matches (with a salute to those managers who cared enough to
issue the challenges and were lucky enough to get them through):
MANNAZ THORSSON (73-4269) (18-12-1,61) of ODIN'S CHOSEN challenged BALDER (28-
3778) (18-14-3,85) of VALHALLA. Up 24. MANNAZ THORSSON overpowered BALDER in a
popular 1 minute mismatched Challenge brawl. And has anyone inspected Thorsson's
weapons for mistletoe? Or perhaps that is not Against the Rules. I shall have to
check.
PHILLIP THE BIRD (40-3708) (13-7-0,90) of CRUEL PET NAMES challenged ELLITA FESS
(50-3392) (26-25-1,85) of MIDDLE WAY 6. Down 5. PHILLIP THE BIRD devastated ELLITA
FESS in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge duel. Parrot fever, I believe. Some people
are especially susceptible to it.
MELTDOWN (8-4353) (23-13-0,100) of X-FORCE challenged BEARNICE (47-2847) (20-26-
6,108) of THE BEAR'S PAW. Up 8. MELTDOWN defeated BEARNICE in an exciting 4 minute
bloody Challenge fight. Why did this fight involve large amounts of... melted
cheese? The steward mumbled something, but I have yet to hear a satisfactory
explanation of the cheese.
ROTTEN LIVER (52-2902) (32-12-1,208) of OTTO'S PARTS challenged GRINNON BEARIT
(47-2955) (34-20-3,201) of THE BEAR'S PAW. Down 7. ROTTEN LIVER lost to GRINNON
BEARIT in a crowd pleasing 1 minute Challenge brawl. A jaundiced moment, no doubt.
They happen.
GROLSCH (21-5029) (45-7-4,202) of REAL BEER challenged SANDPAWN (11-4169) (57-
34-1,196) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS. Down 6. GROLSCH savagely defeated SANDPAWN in an
exciting 7 minute gory Challenge melee. Another seven minute fight! Amazing. And I
have never seen anyone pour a whole keg of beer straight into (and onto) an opponent
like that. It appears to work.
JACK SPRAT (47-2954) (56-62-4,197) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged SIR LY (10-4116)
(55-39-0,216) of SIR AGLIO. Up 19. JACK SPRAT devastated SIR LY in an action packed
1 minute mismatched Challenge fight. What can you expect? The man REFUSES anything
with fat in it, which simply leaves Jack on the edge, unsoothed, uneased, and ready
to BITE. And he did, the lean and mean machine.
And for the title: KING UVDAHELL (47-1643) (42-21-1,227) of ROYAL FLUSH fought
STIGMA OF STUPID (31-4948) (24-6-1,192) of UNFIT TO BE ORCS. KING UVDAHELL handily
defeated STIGMA OF STUPID in a 1 minute uneven Title melee. Very good, King. I feel
sure that you will better grace the office you hold than... no, on second thought,
stupidity is not necessarily a bar to high office, is it? But still, we congratulate
you, and also offer a tip of the hate to your opponent who doubtless did his best.
