Greetings, Crysalians!
Ketchum is on vacation or perhaps retired from spyreporting (it depends on how
much he likes fishing). So I'm filling in. How do you do! I'm Galen Shanmarrik. I
write the reports for Talahya. Who are you all? I'd be very pleased to have an
introduction.
Well, we were very fortunate this time, in that no one died. And Bear's Paw was
avoided by Royal Flush. Generally, avoiding is a sign of a good manager. So is
being avoided.
Our most challenged warrior was Shard. That is very often the sign of a good
teacher, eh? BOMBADIL (47-2724) (24-13-0,98) of FREEDONIA challenged SHARD (45-3507)
(25-31-1,112) of NORTHERN LIGHTS. BOMBADIL was bested by SHARD in a popular 3 minute
bloody Challenge duel. I note that Shard is listed in the popularity list while
Bombadil is in the not-so-popular list. Well, that probably has to do with things
that happened before I got here. It was a good fight to watch, though. Lots of
action.
Appropriately, our Title fight was noteworthy in other ways as well. It was the
only TV challenge this cycle, it featured two stylemasters, and both warriors made
the popularity list. Top Aimed Blow Practitioner JUNINHO (7-4001) (35-18-1,241) of
IMPORTED FOOTBALLERS TV challenged STIGMA OF STUPID (31-4948) (26-9-1,230) of UNFIT
TO BE ORCS. JUNINHO unbelievably bested STIGMA OF STUPID in a 2 minute Challenge
Title fight. That was an exciting fight! Well done, Juninho! And Stigma--in my
opinion, anyone who can manage to be Top Slasher in an Isle arena is more than fit to
be an orc.
RAVISHING REDBUD (52-3197) (31-8-0,202) of FLOWER GIRLS, our top Total Parry,
challenged GRINNON BEARIT (47-2955) (36-23-3,194) of THE BEAR'S PAW, who is our top
lunger. RAVISHING REDBUD luckily beat GRINNON BEARIT in a 4 minute Challenge duel.
Grinnon was this cycle's most popular warrior, which could almost look like your
classic "scum sympathy" vote--but Miss Redbud made the popularity list too! Well
done!
Parry-Riposte is always a very interesting style to watch, which I'm sure is why
Jack Valtraeds is our overall popularity leader. JACK VALTRAEDS (47-407) (99-64-
2,203) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged premier Parry-Lunger BEAR ACUDA (47-4995) (25-12-
1,203) of THE BEAR'S PAW. JACK VALTRAEDS narrowly defeated BEAR ACUDA in an exciting
4 minute Challenge fight. And Bear Acuda was well appreciated, too, as befits such a
good fight. The ones that are three or four minutes long are always the best. The
one-shot wonders...well...(coughboringcough).
The spectators thought Newt Gingrich looked good in his fight. NEWT GINGRICH
(5-3399) (75-25-0,296) of PARTY ANIMALS challenged TOADKILLER DOG (47-1103) (26-8-
1,226) of WASTED SCUM. NEWT GINGRICH viciously subdued TOADKILLER DOG in a 3 minute
Challenge battle. TK Dog didn't make any list. It's harder when you lose.
A lot of people thought Sandblaster ought to have gotten the scum sympathy vote.
SANDBLASTER (11-3899) (69-64-3,202) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS fought WHACKING WILLOW (52-
3167) (34-9-1,166) of FLOWER GIRLS. SANDBLASTER was viciously subdued by WHACKING
WILLOW in a popular 11 minute fight. Certainly, WW was our least popular warrior
this cycle, but Sandblaster failed to beat out Grinnon.
Bashing is a style beloved by spectators, so they were not that pleased when our
top basher, Orphan, fell before the onslaught of a Golden Gladiator. FIVE GOLDEN
RINGS (16-4331) (31-4-0,123) of GOLDEN GLADIATORS fought ORPHAN (72-5463) (22-15-
2,124) of X-POSSE. FIVE GOLDEN RINGS handily defeated ORPHAN in an exciting 1 minute
one-sided bout.
I've been told that Wall of Steel is the most macho style there is. I don't
know, would you call Blue Velvet macho? BLUE VELVET (11-6248) (21-9-0,72) of
COLORIFIC, top Wall of Steel, fought SNOWFALL (45-3473) (39-27-0,77) of NORTHERN
LIGHTS. BLUE VELVET overpowered SNOWFALL in a 2 minute one-sided bout. BV made the
unpopularity list, but I thought it was a good fight. Well, I guess somebody has to
be on that list, and it's a small arena.

ZIT (8-4385) (19-3-0,83) of Z GLADIATORZ challenged GILIA HARN (50-3391) (27-30-
0,82) of MIDDLE WAY 6. ZIT luckily beat GILIA HARN in a crowd pleasing 3 minute gory
Challenge brawl. It was an exciting fight and probably educational as well.
TOM SAWYER (8-4281) (16-6-0,60) of SMITHSONIAN challenged BALDER (28-3778) (20-
17-3,77) of VALHALLA. TOM SAWYER was handily defeated by BALDER in a 2 minute uneven
Challenge melee. I liked this fight, although there wasn't a lot of doubt that
Balder would win. Tom put up a brave battle, and both warriors were courteous and
honorable.
MATADOR (11-4139) (54-48-3,203) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS fought CANNONBALL (72-5313)
(23-16-1,160) of X-POSSE. MATADOR slimly won victory over CANNONBALL in an action
packed 2 minute fight. Good fight!
RANDOM MATCHUP (96-1048) (21-11-4,137) of OVERRATED fought CHEATING MANAGER
(106-6) (0-0-0,130) of ARENA STAND-INS. RANDOM MATCHUP savagely defeated CHEATING
MANAGER in a 2 minute bloody competition. One would hope so!
BEARNICE (47-2847) (22-29-6,119) of THE BEAR'S PAW fought ELLITA FESS (50-3392)
(29-27-1,96) of MIDDLE WAY 6. BEARNICE devastated ELLITA FESS in a crowd pleasing 1
minute one-sided battle. Some people won good money on that fight.
MANNAZ THORSSON (73-4269) (19-13-1,64) of ODIN'S CHOSEN fought SUNFLASH (45-
3474) (30-36-1,58) of NORTHERN LIGHTS. Not surprisingly, MANNAZ THORSSON overpowered
SUNFLASH in a popular 1 minute mismatched conflict. I'm sure there were plenty of
skills learned.
FENDER GRALE (50-3389) (18-33-2,48) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought UNEMPLOYED PERSON
(106-5) (0-0-0,70) of ARENA STAND-INS. FENDER GRALE was overpowered by UNEMPLOYED
PERSON in a 1 minute uneven struggle. Oops, it's a bit embarrassing to be beaten by
a stand-in. Better luck next time, Fender.
HOLLAN INNIS (50-3388) (23-27-0,64) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought RIRORNI SOLDIER (106-
3) (0-0-0,30) of ARENA STAND-INS. HOLLAN INNIS quite properly overpowered RIRORNI
SOLDIER in a 1 minute mismatched brawl.

To those involved, no, I have not abandoned your stories. But I've been letting them
drift, and that has to stop, so I am taking the time to make sure that I know where
they are going, more than just "what happens next" dreamed up on the fly, before
resuming work on them. No new stories will be started until at least one of the old
ones has concluded, for the same reason: quantity can't substitute for quality.
