No standbys today! Very good. Everyone was out there bleeding on the sands
PERSONALLY, which is what I like to see. Of course, there were only twenty-three
fights, which is ridiculous, you'd think no one WANTED to stand out in public and get
chopped to cat's meat. But it isn't all that bad: nobody died.
The Bear's Paw was avoided by Royal Flush. So, what kind of hand was the in the
bear's paw, then? A royal straight flush? The mind boggles.
What do people see in Five Golden Rings, Olaf asked? A lot of gold, I have no
doubt. And perhaps a chance to either win or learn many useful skills. Whatever the
reason, Five was the most-challenged warrior here today. What a thing.
So, for lack of anything better to do, let's look at the fights:
FROSTFLARE (45-4112) (15-13-0,58) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought ANGELOST (39-3415)
(18-9-1,87) of DARQUE ANGELS. FROSTFLARE was handily defeated by ANGELOST in a 1
minute one-sided contest. The Darque Angel is being advised to change his or her
name to Angelwon, as being more appropriate. After all, take a look at that record!
WHITE SETTLER (47-5322) (19-10-1,89) of NATURAL B. KILLERS 2 fought SUNFLASH
(45-3474) (31-39-1,69) of NORTHERN LIGHTS. WHITE SETTLER vanquished SUNFLASH in an
action packed 1 minute one-sided match. Is there significance in this? Who can say?
Other than the bookies, who are paying off to the tune of, ah, one-and-a-half to one?
Whatever.
HOLLAN INNIS (50-3388) (25-29-0,70) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought SKULK (39-3603) (15-
0-0,45) of CHEAP SHOTS. HOLLAN INNIS was devastated by SKULK in a 1 minute one-sided
bout. Taken by surprise, ambushed in an alley, however you want to put it. Unfair
advantages were taken, though I will not, at this point, make any suggestions as to
who took said advantages and to what degree they were unfair. Let the managers fight
over that one.
FENDER GRALE (50-3389) (18-37-2,37) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought LITTLE DEVIL (14-
4359) (16-8-0,53) of PLAYPEN. FENDER GRALE defeated LITTLE DEVIL in a crowd pleasing
1 minute conflict. For those of you thinking of hiring Fender as a babysitter, be
warned. He does not believe in sparing rods or spoiling childs. That's practically
reactionary!
KAT (71-3531) (18-33-2,89) of NIGHTHAWKS fought LIONESS (33-7222) (15-2-0,47) of
CAT IN A HAT. KAT was demolished by LIONESS in an excting 1 minute one-sided bout.
This upset victory was probably due to the hat. Ah, you've never seen a lioness in a
hat? A remarkable sight, I assure you, even when it's an ORDINARY hat.
ELLITA FESS (50-3392) (30-30-1,96) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought LADY CONSOLACION (28-
3703) (22-23-2,67) of FILIPINA LADYZ. ELLITA FESS bested LADY CONSOLACION in an
excting 1 minute fight. At which consumation, nobody at all was surprised. Ellita
is no lady, and the Lady was perhaps not quite prepared for this match. Such is life
in the arena.
SNOWFALL (45-3473) (42-28-0,101) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought BALDER (28-3778) (22-
19-3,98) of VALHALLA. SNOWFALL slimly won victory over BALDER in a 2 minute brawl.
It's the season, you know. I get up in the morning (reluctantly), and it's cold.
It's icy when my feet hit the floor. Seeing snow on the ground wouldn't surprise me.
Okay, it would surprise me for a month and a half yet.
SHARD (45-3507) (26-34-1,130) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought SENATOR SEDALIA (30-
4245) (21-9-0,93) of LENPROS. SHARD slimly lost to SENATOR SEDALIA in an action
packed 2 minute brutal duel. You've heard of singers who can shatter glass with
their voices? Well, there are senators who can shatter ice with theirs. I grant you
that the fact that all their, er, emissions are HOT air, which can't hurt in such a
case.
BEARNICE (47-2847) (25-30-6,145) of THE BEAR'S PAW fought SCORPIUS (45-3752)
(28-12-0,133) of KNIGHT BREED. BEARNICE was overpowered by SCORPIUS in a 2 minute
one-sided duel. Ah, the cruelty of it all! A poor mother bear, stung on the paw by
a wicked, sneaky, spider-kin of a scorpion! Well, it happens. Be careful where you
put that paw next time, Bearnice.
TOADKILLER DOG (47-1103) (28-10-1,201) of WASTED SCUM fought GRINNON BEARIT (47-
2955) (37-26-3,192) of THE BEAR'S PAW. TOADKILLER DOG overcame GRINNON BEARIT in a 2
minute conflict. From the fact that Grinnon survived (though not grinning), we may
deduce that the Bearit is not a toad. There are a few people here and there who,
having gotten the short end of the quarterstaff in a match, might dispute that, but
the proof is before our eyes.
SIDON (31-3712) (39-26-2,195) of DARQUE FORCES fought RANDOM MATCHUP (96-1048)
(25-11-4,165) of OVERRATED. SIDON devastated RANDOM MATCHUP in a crowd pleasing 2
minute gory one-sided battle. So, as the team names have it! Sidon is a dark,
irresistible force, and Random is overrated. Amazing, so often the team names are
more deceptive than this.
Ah, the challenge matches, to the number of eleven. A distinctly modest number,
taken in itself, though it IS prime. But as a percentage of twenty-three fights,
quite respectable. Let us respect it, and also the managers and warriors who
actually issued challenges.
HUNGRY BONES (31-4720) (17-9-1,87) of UNFIT TO BE ORCS challenged CHAOS WARRIOR
(8-1779) (29-21-0,86) of CHAMPIONS OF STEEL. Down 1. HUNGRY BONES overpowered CHAOS
WARRIOR in a 2 minute one-sided Challenge fight. I suppose that when you're starving
to the point that even your bones are hungry, you can't combat chaos? Better to stay
away from it, then. Challenge somebody like... Fat Back or Pork Roll. No, wait,
they're fighting in Home Guard. Well, find Burger King and challenge him!
TOM SAWYER (8-4281) (18-7-0,82) of SMITHSONIAN challenged GILIA HARN (50-3391)
(28-33-0,86) of MIDDLE WAY 6. Up 4. TOM SAWYER luckily beat GILIA HARN in a 2
minute Challenge melee. Is there no end to the fence-painting commissions this
Sawyer will accept and then foist of onto other people? Is there no end to the
commission to paint ads on fences that this Harn will accept for those occasions when
she has one of Sawyer's fences to paint? Or how about a mural this time?
MIR BLOODRAVEN (8-4369) (14-11-2,65) of NORTHERN BADLANDS challenged SIPPYCUP
SAM (14-4280) (16-8-3,65) of PLAYPEN. Straight across. YMIR BLOODRAVEN vanquished
SIPPYCUP SAM in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge fight. No sipping from the cup today,
Sam, not with that fat lip.
UNCERTAIN OMELET (47-3786) (15-6-0,99) of MYSTIC ORC FEAST challenged BLUE
VELVET (11-6248) (24-9-0,107) of COLORIFIC. Up 8. UNCERTAIN OMELET lost to BLUE
VELVET in an action packed 2 minute Challenge fight. Well, that's how it goes: if
you want to break omelets, you have to lay eggs. Er, sort of how it goes. I may not
have gotten that quite right. Too much blue velvet in my eggnog, perhaps.
ZIT (8-4385) (21-3-0,100) of Z GLADIATORZ challenged PIXIE BLIGHT (73-4427) (24-
22-0,132) of DARQUE FORCES VIII. Up 32. ZIT unbelievably bested PIXIE BLIGHT in an
action packed 4 minute Challenge melee. Too bad, Pixie. But listen, don't pay any
attention to the old wives. Avoiding fats and chocolate will NOT help you overcome
zits. Soap and water, that's the ticket.
CANNONBALL (72-5313) (23-20-1,155) of X-POSSE challenged FIVE GOLDEN RINGS (16-
4331) (34-4-0,170) of GOLDEN GLADIATORS. Up 15. CANNONBALL was beaten by FIVE
GOLDEN RINGS in a 6 minute Challenge brawl. This is Five Most-Challenged Golden
Rings here, and a leisurely victor to boot. Let's face it, you might get a
cannonball through one ring, and maybe even two, but not through all five.
ORPHAN (72-5463) (24-17-2,168) of X-POSSE challenged BEAR ACUDA (47-4995) (25-
16-1,194) of THE BEAR'S PAW. Up 26. ORPHAN was devastated by BEAR ACUDA in a 1
minute one-sided Challenge duel. Somebody should have warned the poor orphan not to
swim in the lake, especially not when there are suspicious swirls in the water. Full
of hungry mouths, the lake is. And no mercy for an orphan.
STIGMA OF STUPID (31-4948) (27-12-1,196) of UNFIT TO BE ORCS challenged MATADOR
(11-4139) (57-49-3,224) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS. Up 28. STIGMA OF STUPID devastated
MATADOR in an excting 2 minute one-sided Challenge fight. If it's stupid and it
works, it isn't stupid. My Uncle Goe taught me that one.
JACK VALTRAEDS (47-407) (101-66-2,198) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged EVE (72-4596)
(21-7-0,204) of DARQUE FORCES. Up 6. JACK VALTRAEDS demolished EVE in a crowd

KING UVDAHELL (47-1643) (46-22-1,208) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged SANDBLASTER (11-
3899) (71-66-3,208) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS. Straight across. KING UVDAHELL lost to
SANDBLASTER in an action packed 1 minute Challenge battle. And Sandblaster is king
for THIS day. Not every challenger wins, not every challenger loses, but some do and
some don't. You see how it goes.
WHACKING WILLOW (52-3167) (36-9-1,221) of FLOWER GIRLS challenged SODOM (31-
4368) (30-12-1,225) of DARQUE FORCES. Up 4. WHACKING WILLOW bested SODOM in a crowd
