Reflections by the Chief Tower Guard
OK, If Slugbait is going to let some Crip Crap back on the throne, we might as
well try to be decent and write a column this time. Crip's gradually catching up on
regular arena play, but still couldn't help but notice that in my last 50 fights, my
popularity has only gone done on 3 occaisions, last turn outlasting Toadkiller Dog,
and two other times where I've outlasted Consortium types Corn Field and Boston
Strangler. Tells you what not to challenge me with.
Ah yes, TKDog, there may be a Dueltoo penalty in basic, but not in here. I
guess that's why you weren't motivated enough to take me out. This turn, my
challenge goes to the highest ranked non-Crip contender, Grinnon Bearit of the Bear's
Paw. I want to know what happened to the Bear's Maw instead?
And speaking of bizarre teams, what's with all the Dark Toads? I would have
thought that the Consortium was a competent enough managerial talent that he wouldn't
have to resort to running someone else's warriors, but I've been wrong before! Well,
I know that in one case at least, Mortician of Dark Toads was once Mortician of
Intimidators, which was actually a Consortium type. But that raises another
question, why is Mortician the only warrior who fought in Crysalis last turn that
doesn't appear in the warrior rankings. Crip Crap actually challenge him 6 times
last turn, so apparently, if you aren't listed, you can't be challenged. Hmmmm....
Unfortunately, Crip doesn't have the time at the moment to commit to the new
non-tourney arenas, but we'd like to follow Slugbait in endorsing such a venue.

REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
And here we are, on a very cold morning, afternoon, and evening. Yes, we had
that many fights today! Thirty-three fights and only one standby. Choke on that,
Debby Tonte! True, our longest fight was only ten minutes, and the two next were
tied for six, which is frivolous. You can go longer than that, even in the cold!
This is the SLOW arena, after all. Where was I? Ah, yes, thirty-three fights. Ten
were challenges, which is not a bad percent, although it COULD be better. No tv
challenges. Where are all the tourney victors? Surely they haven't gone to Free
Blades!
Dutch Treat got the most challenges. This is as it should be. The title must
be contended for, people have to CARE here.
The Bear's Paw as the most avoided team. The Bear's Maw was avoiding them. No,
actually, it was Royal Flush who avoided the Paw more than any other team did. Since
both are from the same home arena, they probably know something that leads to this.
Without further ado, the fights:
URG GUTSPILLER (59-2561) (21-11-1,73) of VILE REAVERS fought ROXANNE DE'MORRE
(50-3449) (23-17-0,72) of DRUID'S GROVE. URG GUTSPILLER viciously subdued ROXANNE
DE'MORRE in a 2 minute gory bout. Roxanne has been warned about the dangers of a
treeless venue to a druid. And now you see!
SIPPYCUP SAM (14-4280) (16-12-3,43) of PLAYPEN fought OOKAZI (59-2401) (18-6-
1,61) of IMPROVED ILLUSION. SIPPYCUP SAM savagely defeated OOKAZI in a crowd
pleasing 6 minute brutal match. Six minutes of brutal action involving a teething
ring and a teddy bear, I could hardly bare to watch it.
FENDER GRALE (50-3389) (20-39-2,46) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought LADY DOMINGA (28-
3702) (17-32-0,83) of FILIPINA LADYZ. FENDER GRALE devastated LADY DOMINGA in a
popular 1 minute uneven bout. Strangely enough, certain women I know have told me
that this Fender Grale can be devastating to the ladies. Who would have thought it?
He just looks like another man to me.
WHITE SETTLER (47-5322) (22-11-1,90) of NATURAL B. KILLERS 2 fought TINY TIM
(60-6042) (19-6-1,64) of CRAZY CREEPS. WHITE SETTLER was luckily beaten by TINY TIM
in an exciting 3 minute brutal struggle. The most exciting thing was the ukelele
riff at the end. Who would have thought a bloodstained ukelele could make such
sounds?
SUNFLASH (45-3474) (31-43-1,69) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought SWAMP LILY HAMMER (47-
5441) (18-9-1,59) of ALL SWAMP HAMMERZ. SUNFLASH was handily defeated by SWAMP LILY
HAMMER in a 1 minute mismatched match. Sunflash was, in fact, swamped by the lily-
white one. There was no need for hammering. Although some hammering did occur.
BLUE BLOOD (73-3657) (11-9-1,43) of BLACK & BLUE fought LADY CONSOLACION (28-
3703) (22-27-2,58) of FILIPINA LADYZ. BLUE BLOOD beat LADY CONSOLACION in a popular
1 minute bout. Hmm. It's been my observation that ladies do tend to go overboard
for "blue blood." This seems unreasonable, as blue blood is a sign of ill health or
alienness. Blood should be red. Bright red. But if they were reasonable, they
probably wouldn't count as ladies.
FROSTFLARE (45-4112) (17-15-0,84) of NORTHERN LIGHTS fought HARI-KARI (73-3049)
(10-4-0,34) of WAY TO GO! II. FROSTFLARE was overpowered by HARI-KARI in a popular 1
minute one-sided match. Definitely the way Frostflare went.
MANI (31-5102) (22-24-4,93) of SOL INVICTUS fought HOLLAN INNIS (50-3388) (27-
31-0,59) of MIDDLE WAY 6. MANI was overpowered by HOLLAN INNIS in a 1 minute gory
uneven duel. Whoa, what happened here? Mani, you can't have been paying attention
and keeping your mind on the job.
BALDER (28-3778) (24-21-3,124) of VALHALLA fought ELLITA FESS (50-3392) (32-32-
1,91) of MIDDLE WAY 6. BALDER overpowered ELLITA FESS in an exciting 1 minute gory
uneven competition. Ever the gentleman, Balder offered Miss Fess a hankie at the end
of the match, to clean up the gore. Unless it was to conceal a message in, planning
a secret assignation.
UNCERTAIN OMELET (47-3786) (16-7-0,109) of MYSTIC ORC FEAST fought HOFFA WITH
HAIR (59-2297) (20-2-0,93) of IMPROVED ILLUSION. UNCERTAIN OMELET was overpowered by
HOFFA WITH HAIR in a popular 1 minute uneven duel. Naturally. Even a decidedly
certain omelet might be unable to cope with this vision of Hoffa with Hair.
GILIA HARN (50-3391) (31-34-0,125) of MIDDLE WAY 6 fought EVIL INPUTTER (106-7)
(0-0-0,110) of the College of Mimes. GILIA HARN overpowered EVIL INPUTTER in a 2
minute gruesome one-sided bout. The dream of every gladiator, realized! So many
long to do this.
DEMONICHELLION (33-7038) (28-25-2,128) of CHAOTICDISORDER fought SCORPIUS (45-
3752) (30-14-0,147) of KNIGHT BREED. DEMONICHELLION was vanquished by SCORPIUS in an
action packed 1 minute one-sided match. Hmm, two islanders, but from different
islands. I wonder if anything could or should be made of this? No, probably not,
even though we're on yet a third island here.
WRETCHEDMISERY (33-7255) (30-21-0,151) of CHAOTICDISORDER fought SNOWFALL (45-
3473) (44-30-0,147) of NORTHERN LIGHTS. WRETCHEDMISERY overpowered SNOWFALL in a
popular 1 minute one-sided match. Ah, this is what happens, or at least they SAY it
happens, to a snowfall when the weather warms up. We're still waiting for the "warms
up" part here.
BEARNICE (47-2847) (26-33-6,162) of THE BEAR'S PAW fought SHARD (45-3507) (27-
37-1,120) of NORTHERN LIGHTS. BEARNICE easily killed SHARD in a 1 minute bloody
uneven duel. This seems... extreme. But it's no wonder Bearnice found it easy,
having six kills already. This is a deadly bear.
AKELDAMA (56-2417) (21-7-0,180) of ACT OF MALICE fought CHAOS WARRIOR (8-1779)
(32-22-0,125) of CHAMPIONS OF STEEL. AKELDAMA was luckily beaten by CHAOS WARRIOR in
an exciting 2 minute gory duel. I was going to question the role of "luck" in this
fight, until I noted the respective rankings. Good work, Chaos Warrior.
FREAK (18-7300) (27-14-4,156) of RUN AND HYDE fought HUNGRY BONES (31-4720) (19-
9-1,128) of UNFIT TO BE ORCS. FREAK viciously subdued HUNGRY BONES in a crowd
pleasing 2 minute gory competition. Hey, it isn't only the Bones that are hungry.
Freaks get hungry, too.
JULIA (60-4651) (37-43-0,200) of ROMPER ROOM fought WHACKING WILLOW (52-3167)
(37-10-1,204) of FLOWER GIRLS. JULIA was luckily beaten by WHACKING WILLOW in a
popular 3 minute match. Was this luck? Or something more sinister? We have heard
tales about this Willow wench....
MATADOR (11-4139) (58-52-3,210) of ANDORIAN KNIGHTS fought RAUNI (31-5035) (35-
23-0,176) of SOL INVICTUS. MATADOR savagely defeated RAUNI in an exciting 3 minute
brutal bout. And that is, unquestionably, Matador, a savage, perhaps, but a
victorious savage.
BEAR ACUDA (47-4995) (26-19-1,188) of THE BEAR'S PAW fought BRIARTHORN (12-5671)
(40-33-2,172) of DARKMOON. BEAR ACUDA was overpowered by BRIARTHORN in a 1 minute
mismatched brawl. I met a thorny briar once. I was lucky to get away with my life.
Very nasty things, briars.
TREMOR CHRIST (17-4047) (46-38-2,193) of IMMORTAL ASYLUM fought SOUL SCOURGE
(59-2589) (29-9-0,182) of VILE REAVERS. TREMOR CHRIST savagely defeated SOUL SCOURGE
in an action packed 2 minute struggle. AND scourged his soul, I hope! It would be
so appropriate.
PRINCE APPLE (47-325) (100-69-2,384) of ROYAL FLUSH fought SAMPSA (31-4233) (33-
42-4,181) of SOL INVICTUS. PRINCE APPLE defeated SAMPSA in a 1 minute duel. No, it
was NOT the principle of the thing, it was a gross mismatch, the kind of thing that
happens when the handicapper doesn't pay attention. Although I salute Sampsa for
fighting hard enough not to make it "one-sided."
JACK VALTRAEDS (47-407) (104-66-2,241) of ROYAL FLUSH fought DISORDER (65-6419)
(35-17-3,181) of PARANOIA. JACK VALTRAEDS overpowered DISORDER in a 1 minute
mismatched conflict. Does this mean that Jack brought order to the situation? There
have been days when a little order wouldn't hurt. Other days, of course, the more
disorder, the better. You've got to have some kind of balance.
FOUNTAIN TROLL (73-643) (79-26-2,300) of D.A. REJECTS fought MIDNIGHT FAITH (75-
2651) (32-22-1,207) of PARANOID ASYLUM. FOUNTAIN TROLL viciously subdued MIDNIGHT
FAITH in an exciting 3 minute bloody battle. Well, the thing is, M.F., they really
ARE out to get you.
Ah, the challenge matches:
ABHORRENCE (4-5568) (15-7-2,67) of GLOOM AND DOOM challenged LITTLE DEVIL (14-
4359) (17-11-0,65) of PLAYPEN. Down 2. ABHORRENCE demolished LITTLE DEVIL in a 1
minute mismatched Challenge match. What? I thought that little devil was equal to
anything!
TEMUJIN (65-3796) (30-11-0,144) of SPLIT INFINITY 2 challenged SIN-EATER (82-
24827) (15-20-3,165) of THE WRETCHED. Up 21. TEMUJIN luckily beat SIN-EATER in a
popular 6 minute gory Challenge melee. Our other six-minute fight. Six minutes is a
lot of luck, so be careful, Temujin, you may have used up all your alotment for the
year.
AGLIBOL (12-5848) (38-27-1,210) of DARKMOON challenged TOADKILLER DOG (47-1103)
(31-11-1,210) of WASTED SCUM. Straight across. AGLIBOL was vanquished by TOADKILLER
DOG in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge fight. He who has been the Top Dog does not
yield easily to defeat, Aglibol.
KING UVDAHELL (47-1643) (47-24-1,198) of ROYAL FLUSH challenged SIDON (31-3712)
(41-27-2,208) of DARQUE FORCES. Up 10. KING UVDAHELL was vanquished by SIDON in a 1
minute uneven Challenge fight. These darque dwarves--they're tough. Really tough.
LITTLE SIR GRUNGE (25-948) (76-61-4,196) of CRYPTICS challenged SODOM (31-4368)
(31-15-1,196) of DARQUE FORCES. Straight across again! Twice in one day is a
surprise. LITTLE SIR GRUNGE was viciously subdued by SODOM in a 2 minute Challenge
melee. Another blow stuck struck for darqueness.
CANNONBALL (72-5313) (24-23-1,190) of X-POSSE challenged EVE (72-4596) (22-10-
0,193) of DARQUE FORCES. Up 3. CANNONBALL was overpowered by EVE in a popular 1
minute mismatched Challenge brawl. And a fetching temptation Eve was, too. The only
thing I don't understand is how she managed not to turn blue, wearing so little in
such weather. Not that she would have been unattractive in blue, necessarily.
SPATHA (31-4996) (37-30-2,195) of SOL INVICTUS challenged STIGMA OF STUPID (31-
4948) (29-14-1,194) of UNFIT TO BE ORCS. Down 1. SPATHA was devastated by STIGMA OF
STUPID in a 1 minute uneven Challenge brawl. If it wins, it isn't stupid.
BOARISH YELTSIN (5-3109) (61-43-2,249) of PARTY ANIMALS challenged RANDOM
MATCHUP (96-1048) (28-12-4,212) of OVERRATED. Down 37. BOARISH YELTSIN devastated
RANDOM MATCHUP in a 1 minute one-sided Challenge contest. Yes, well, I can see how
it would be devastating. Such is life in the arena, though. Devastation,
viciousness, brutality, savagery, and plenty of gore.
NEWT GINGRICH (5-3399) (81-26-0,222) of PARTY ANIMALS challenged GRINNON BEARIT
(47-2955) (40-27-3,239) of THE BEAR'S PAW. Up 17. NEWT GINGRICH was handily
defeated by GRINNON BEARIT in a 1 minute Challenge match. Good thing the sun didn't
shine, or we would all have been blinded by the reflection of Grinnon's fangs, he
certainly had them all on display.
And for the title, the former Intimidator MORTICIAN (2-3890) (73-18-1,217) of
DARK TOADS challenged DUTCH TREAT (26-1841) (97-35-2,353) of WORLDWIDE GORE. Up...
about 136, I think. MORTICIAN was devastated by DUTCH TREAT in a 10 minute Challenge
Title fight. Our longest fight, and Mortician did his best, but Dutch was not ready
for embalming. Congratulations to both warriors, though for different things.

The Council of Lords would like to propose a rule change in ADM and Primus. We
propose that Lord Protectors ranked "Grand Champions" and below (ADM) and "The Tower
Guard" and below (Primus) be allowed to fight in the Dark Arena. This would not
impact the top rankings or title match. Any managers who never got his fill or shot
at fighting Gateway monsters would have it as an option. We believe it might spark
some interest in the ADM/Primus realm for some managers. If interested, speak up in
the newsletters or on forums under the "rules changes" thread and let RSI know. This
could even be something to try for 12 months and then be re-evaluated. What say you,
managers of Ghea? -- The Icelord sends....

HDFA Mission Statement
"Show me the money!"
This is the battle cry of a newly formed collection of like-minded individuals:
The High Dolla' Free Agent$. We are not a tough guy alliance: No...we offer no
battle without reward. We search for victory and the prizes and accolades that
follow. We are motivated by winning and will freely use whatever means necessary to
obtain our currency. No stuffy rules, no mandates, no constitutions, no leaders,
only a few objectives:
1) Win as often as possible
2) Celebrate freely and revel in your victories; the more meaningless the
victory the more we celebrate. Highsiding and chest thumping are encouraged.
Ostentatious endzone celebrations with prop usage are encouraged, regardless of
fines, penalties, suspensions or arrest by local authorities. It is important to let
your opponent know how great you are; more importantly, you must let your own
alliance mates know how great you are.
This is a 1-up alliance, let the performance of your fellow Free Agent$ motivate
you. If a Free Agent wins a TV, win 2; if a Free agent wins a contest, win a more
prestigious one.
