Reflections by the Chief Tower Guard
Back. Again! Meow. Wynett didn't cage me and I didn't run up against Crip's
collaborative crew, so life is pretty catty right now. Yes, indeed. I am one of the
lucky Consortiumites who will go to Orlando in hopes of acclaim and glory. The
Elders only send a few to fight off all those aimers, Crip's massive ADM entrants,
and Manager's scum. We few are:

REPORT FROM WITHIN THE TOWER
We had a superb day here today, thanks to ALL our splendid and committed
managers. Forty-seven fights! True, we had eleven standbys on the sands, but that
was a drop, okay, a cup in the bucket compared to the managed gladiators out there.
The regionals can't touch us, they can only envy us.
In startling news of the day, Billy Lilly won a fight (!) and had the greatest
point gain at thirty-nine.
Billy's opponent, Lumbering Waif, had the biggest drop at thirty-three.
Most challenged was Tabby, "Duelmaster" or holder of the Crysaline Helm, he got
twelve! How long has it been since any one gladiator got that many challenges, even
allowing for several double-challenges?
Most avoided was Steel Blades, which sounds like good sense to me. Royal Flush,
no dummies, did most of that avoiding.
When I say that we had twelve challenges, I do not mean the twelve received by
Tabby. These are a different twelve, the ones that went through. So there must have
been at least twenty-four challenges flying around here before today's fights.
So let's take a look at the fights. We can't have commentary everywhere, not with
forty-seven fights, but we can have some.
AMELIA (28-3417) (34-24-1,73) of DODGE BULLETS fought CREDIT CARD (5-4052) (17-
5-0,57) of BLOOD SUCKERS. AMELIA bested CREDIT CARD in a popular 1 minute brawl. It
defies reason and experience that a woman could get the better of a credit card, but
there it is. The facts don't lie.
EXPERIENTIA (28-4483) (19-15-0,77) of STEEL AND SILK fought GHOST DANCER (28-
3365) (42-33-0,63) of DODGE BULLETS. EXPERIENTIA was bested by GHOST DANCER in an
exciting 1 minute match. Look upon it as yet more experience, Experientia.
WHAKAPAPA (39-3801) (23-8-4,65) of KIWI CONNECTION fought R.O.U.S. (106-4) (0-0-
0,50) of the College of Mimes. WHAKAPAPA was savagely defeated by R.O.U.S. in a
crowd pleasing 3 minute gory battle. Oops.
TOM SMITH DISEASE (50-3400) (18-18-0,46) of STRANGE TUNES fought COLLINGWOOD
(39-3798) (20-12-2,31) of KIWI CONNECTION. TOM SMITH DISEASE slimly lost to
COLLINGWOOD in an exciting 2 minute bloody conflict. Probably something in the
water.
GABBER KNIGHT (77-2243) (1-1-0,39) of 500 BPM fought ALASTARIAN DESERTER (106-1)
(0-0-0,30) of the College of Mimes. GABBER KNIGHT overpowered ALASTARIAN DESERTER in
a 1 minute mismatched bout. Good. Although the concept of an "Alastarian Deserter"
still puzzles me, even after all these years.
PARALDOXIA (83-112) (17-22-0,73) of ZEITGEIST fought GISBORNE (59-2709) (15-12-
0,50) of KIWI CONNECTION. PARALDOXIA demolished GISBORNE in an exciting 1 minute
brutal one-sided conflict. Is this a case of two Doxias working in parallel?
SCARLET ROSE (28-4440) (18-22-0,93) of STEEL AND SILK fought SCUMMY BOY (73-
3371) (12-6-0,56) of THE FAMILY TREE. SCARLET ROSE savagely defeated SCUMMY BOY in
an action packed 6 minute competition. Ripped him to shreds with thorns.
TAMMY FAYE (39-3520) (24-17-0,123) of WITLESS WONDERS fought IMPRISONED SPY
(106-9) (0-0-0,170) of the College of Mimes. TAMMY FAYE was overpowered by
IMPRISONED SPY in a popular 1 minute one-sided duel. A bit embarrassing, but only a
bit. After all, he's a skilled Spy and has been half-promised eventual release for
good performance. Don't ask me when "eventual" is.
TUNDRA (45-4280) (28-18-1,150) of ARCTIC WASTES fought SMIRK (39-3606) (31-10-
0,114) of CHEAP SHOTS. TUNDRA was luckily beaten by SMIRK in a popular 6 minute
brutal match. How maddening.
TRASH CAN (50-3403) (16-3-3,149) of OPEN SESAME fought GODSMACK (82-48417) (22-
9-0,118) of TONGUE N CHEEK. TRASH CAN overpowered GODSMACK in a crowd pleasing 1
minute uneven competition. I can't help but feel a certain poetic justice in this.
KARATIA (73-3624) (31-15-1,141) of KIWI CONNECTION fought CRIMSON MIST (8-5047)
(30-17-1,111) of BLOOD RITES. KARATIA unbelievably bested CRIMSON MIST in a crowd
pleasing 1 minute fight. Why is this unbelievable? I'm not getting that.
AVONSIDE (13-3927) (40-58-1,180) of KIWI CONNECTION fought OBAN (31-4530) (21-
26-1,101) of SINGLE MALTS. AVONSIDE vanquished OBAN in a crowd pleasing 1 minute
gruesome one-sided struggle. Kicked him (Oban) off the bank into the water, I guess.
AB DESTINED 4 THE DA (65-1154) (19-13-2,177) of PAUL'Z PHARTZ fought HAZE (82-
49272) (23-12-0,138) of NORTHERN LIGHTS. AB DESTINED 4 THE DA was savagely defeated
by HAZE in an exciting 2 minute fight. A savage haze... okay, we've got that, I
think. The humidity, you know.
RUBBER KNIFE (54-2038) (57-44-1,178) of USELESS TOOLS fought BINGE N PURGE (45-
3567) (29-18-0,157) of EMETICS. RUBBER KNIFE slimly won victory over BINGE N PURGE
in a crowd pleasing 2 minute match. Not so useless after all.
LUMBERING WAIF (8-4346) (24-21-0,171) of HAPLESS WAIF fought BILLY LILLY (28-
3416) (31-43-1,114) of DODGE BULLETS. LUMBERING WAIF was savagely defeated by BILLY
LILLY in an action packed 2 minute bout. The numbers clerks in the office regard
this as the major upset of the day, and the massive point shifts on the parts of both
gladiators has now brought them close to each other in the rankings, so they can do
it again if they're so inclined.
ROTTEN LIVER (52-2902) (34-16-1,178) of OTTO'S PARTS fought EVALON ELKHORN (50-
3553) (31-26-3,131) of DRUID'S GROVE. ROTTEN LIVER demolished EVALON ELKHORN in an
exciting 1 minute mismatched match. Some people just don't appreciate liver.
Although when it's rotten... eh.
RUBBER KNIFE (57-2546) (31-8-2,193) of USELESS TOOLS fought GOJIRO (106-31) (0-
0-0,220) of the College of Mimes. RUBBER KNIFE devastated GOJIRO in a popular 2
minute uneven bout. And this Rubber Knife ALSO isn't useless.
TAOS (26-4042) (26-15-1,203) of HERE TO PHOENIX fought RIRORNI CAPTAIN (106-26)
(0-0-0,200) of the College of Mimes. TAOS was savagely defeated by RIRORNI CAPTAIN
in an exciting 4 minute brutal struggle. These Rirorni have many flaws, but they can
handle Taos Lightning.
MOSGIEL (14-3836) (39-28-2,189) of OTAGO HIGHLANDERS fought ROXANNE DE'MORRE
(50-3449) (45-40-0,158) of DRUID'S GROVE. MOSGIEL viciously subdued ROXANNE DE'MORRE
in a crowd pleasing 1 minute match. Mosgiel had the high ground in this fight and
kept it.
ACE METRIC (47-3554) (27-18-0,200) of ROYAL FLUSH fought AMBER WOLFWALKER (106-
11) (0-0-0,220) of the College of Mimes. ACE METRIC was beaten by AMBER WOLFWALKER
in a popular 1 minute bout. One thing about wolves, Ace, is they don't care about
metric. How often have you heard a wolf talk about his eleven-millimeter tooth, eh?
DISCO QUEEN (47-1992) (59-26-2,203) of ROYAL FLUSH fought GOJIRO (106-31) (0-0-
0,220) of the College of Mimes. DISCO QUEEN was overpowered by GOJIRO in a popular 3
minute gory one-sided match. What can I say? Gojiro likes to dance.
JIVE (25-624) (102-65-1,192) of CRYPTICS fought GERRICK GRIMM (50-3530) (27-40-
1,158) of DRUID'S GROVE. JIVE overpowered GERRICK GRIMM in a 1 minute uneven duel.
Quite a difference in experience here.

ARIZONA (34-2643) (37-26-1,165) of D-DAY SQUAD. SITS ON HIS DUFF overpowered U.S.S.
ARIZONA in an exciting 1 minute uneven competition. Sounds like a plan. That George
knows how to live the good life.
GROLSCH (21-5029) (70-14-4,206) of REAL BEER fought LAPHROAIG (31-4529) (27-21-
0,161) of SINGLE MALTS. GROLSCH overpowered LAPHROAIG in a popular 1 minute gruesome
uneven duel. Classic!
LAND OF FLUSH (11-4373) (28-17-0,225) of CONSORTIUM CRAP fought BLACK FLAG (82-
46046) (42-30-3,202) of TONGUE N CHEEK. LAND OF FLUSH was vanquished by BLACK FLAG
in an exciting 7 minute one-sided fight. What I don't see is why it took Black so
LONG to win.
DAIRY QUEEN (47-2685) (94-48-3,233) of ROYAL FLUSH fought GOJIRO (106-31) (0-0-
0,220) of the College of Mimes. DAIRY QUEEN defeated GOJIRO in an exciting 3 minute
gory duel. If you're wondering why Gojiro appears so often today, he had the ill
fortune to owe favors to several other standbys.
KING FORADAY (47-3762) (58-52-4,211) of ROYAL FLUSH fought RIRORNI COOK (106-24)
(0-0-0,181) of the College of Mimes. KING FORADAY handily defeated RIRORNI COOK in
an exciting 1 minute one-sided contest. If the contest had been in the kitchen,
however, it might have gone a different way.
STEVE MCQUEEN (47-3908) (55-44-1,211) of ROYAL FLUSH fought PAUL (35-2349) (41-
45-2,203) of COMMON JOE'S. STEVE MCQUEEN subdued PAUL in an action packed 4 minute
gruesome bout. You need more flash here, Paul.

(25-13-0,205) of REAL BEER. BLUE BLOOD beat BODDINGTON'S in an action packed 1
minute fight. I once heard of a wine called "Blue Blood." I think they made it from
blueberries. It didn't go over well, despite the vitamins.

1 minute mismatched conflict. Seems like Miss was tired of waiting.

(30-14-2,222) of ITALIAN FOOTBALL. MAD CAT demolished TOTTI in an exciting 1 minute
one-sided bout. Mad cats are like that. Even cats that aren't mad.

(0-0-0,200) of the College of Mimes. DUTCH TREAT devastated TELGOR in a 2 minute
brutal one-sided brawl. Ah, Telgor's so cheap, he was counting on his date paying
for HIM.

(106-11) (0-0-0,220) of the College of Mimes. LITTLE SIR GRUNGE was overcome by
AMBER WOLFWALKER in a crowd pleasing 2 minute bout. Grunge shouldn't have come out
wearing a red hood.

3,230) of ALL THE MUN'S MEN. PRIMUS defeated WEINERMUN in an action packed 2 minute
struggle. Actually, they made a good pair.

2,199) of COMMON JOE'S. REMARK A BULL handily defeated PAT in an action packed 1
minute one-sided conflict. Pat, same advice as for your teammate, you need flair,
flash, and dazzle to win in the arena.

*TURF WAR VII RULES*
Starting Nov 2010 (12 turns)
Bring acclaim and glory to the North Fork (DM47) arena.
Anyone may participate; known alliances, new alliances, or temporary alliances
created solely to compete in the Turf War! To participate, each alliance must:
1. Announce the Captain of the alliance in the North Fork (DM 47)
newsletter.
2. Indicate in the newsletter which Captain/alliance you will join.
3. Announcements made on the D2 Forums or elsewhere will not be accepted.
Captains are responsible for:
1. Verifying/authorizing, in the North Fork newsletter those who wish to
participate under the banner of their alliance. (Lack of participant indication of
joining and/or lack of lack of Captain confirmation will delay a team's participation
in the Turf War.)
2. Distribution of prizes should their alliance win the Turf War.
3. Submit two (2) RSI Roll-Up Certificates to participate. (Note: Captains
may, if they wish, submit certs for all potential members of their alliance.)
Participating managers who are not Captains must:
1. Submit two (2) RSI Roll-Up Certificates to participate (Unless already
submitted by Captain. Note: extras will not be returned, but will go into the winning
pool of prizes.)
2. Announce their intent to compete with manager name, team name, and
alliance they will represent in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter. Announcement made
on the D2 Forums will not be accepted.
a. No scores will be tabulated until an RSI Gift Certificate is
received, and participant indication and captain confirmation are posted in the North
Fork newsletter. NO EXCEPTIONS.
b. Before a manager can compete, he/she must declare themselves in
the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter as stated above AND be verified in the newsletter
by the alliance Captain they will represent.
c. Only one (1) team per player may compete. No multiple teams or
aliases will be allowed. Violations will result in immediate disqualification
(including team point adjustments) from the Turf War (so be sure to take any multiple
teams OFF of Team Maintenance and be certain not to run any other team warriors).
d. Scoring will NOT be retroactive for teams/alliances that do not
properly declare or get captain confirmation or fail to send a Gift Certificate by
Turn 1. In other words, if your Gift Certificate is not received until Turn 3 of the
Turf War, and you have fought on Turns 1 and 2, your score will not begin until Turn
3. All conditions must be met before scoring will begin--declaration, verification,
and Gift Certificate received.
e. No declarations or verifications will be accepted after Turn 5 of
the Turf War.
f. For purposes of scoring, the moderators will score the Turf War
and settle any and all disputes as they arise. Their decisions will be final. (Note:
the intent is to have a very thorough set of rules so that few decisions, if any, are
required from the moderators.)

and time. (The penalty for such substitution is -10 points.) Points awarded for
tournament participation are 5 for any entrant, 15 for a TV and 25 for a TC. Death in
a tournament negates any tournament points gained and results in a-5 score.

Special Scoring Considerations for the Turf War are as follows:
Spy Report mention (team name only) +2
1. No matter how many mentions or stylemasters, an individual team can score
only +2 in each category per round
Style Master +2
1. No matter how many mentions or stylemasters, an individual team can score
only +2 in each category per round
Duelmaster +2
Champions:
1. A Champion may be declared, but one is not mandatory.
2. Only one Champion allowed per manager at any given time.
3. Champions that graduate or are killed by another warrior in the arena, but
not the Dark Arena, may be replaced.
4. Champions must have fought at least one previous fight in the North Fork
(DM47 arena) to be able to be declared a champion.
Bloodfeuds:
1. Bloodfeuds will score points on all four (4) turns.
2. There is no limit to which warrior may bloodfeud or how often.
Tournament Considerations:
1. Tournament participation is ALLOWED and encouraged.
2. Tournament Victors won during the course of the contest will gain a one
(1) time bonus of 25 15 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a warrior(s) wins
such status.
3. Tournament Champions won during the course of the contest will gain a one
(1) time bonus of 50 25 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a warrior(s) win
such status.
4. Points awarded for tournament participation are 5 for any entrant, (15
total for a TV and 25 total for a TC.) However, death in a tournament will result in
a -5 score for that tournament. (If a warrior TV's and is subsequently killed in a
tournament the points scored are -5 for that tournament.)
5. Points for TVs and TCs and tournament deaths will be applied the Turn
after RSI posts tournament results in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter (i.e., if the
results post on North Fork turn 275, points will be credited on North Fork turn 276
to the applicable teams).
Special Considerations:
1. Each alliance begins the Turf War with zero (0) points.
2. There will be NO alliance or team changes once the contest has begun. If
you begin the Turf War with Alliance A, you must end the Turf War with Alliance A.
If you begin the Turf War with Team A, you must end the Turf War with Team A.
3. There will be a maximum of five (5) teams allowed per alliance for the
Turf War VII.
4. The Dark Arena may be used on the first turn only, of every warrior,
without penalty.
Prizes:
The Turf War is normally a "winner take all" contest. However, for TWVII, a prize
will be awarded each of the twelve turns to the individual team/manager that fights
five fights and has the best w/l record that turn. (Tiebreakers are in order - kills,
recognition points earned.) All prizes and 100% of the Gift Certificates will be
awarded to the Captain of the winning alliance at the end of the competition. It is
the responsibility of the Captain to distribute Gift Certificates. Moderators will
submit a list of each manager on the winning alliance to RSI at the completion of the
contest for the non-Certificate prizes.
All entry fees (rollup certs) are awarded to the winning alliance, except for
the twelve reserved for the individual winning manager each week.)
The following prizes have been secured from RSI:
1. Renaming of the North Fork (DM 47) arena;
2. Renaming of all Dark Arena Monsters (two for each manager in the winning
alliance);
3. Known Favorites for one warrior on each team of the winning alliance
(warrior must be ranked Initiate or above, must be alive, and must have at least one
DM47 arena fight to receive this award).
4. +1 Skill bonus potion for each manager on the winning alliance. Bonus
potion must be applied to a living warrior from (DM 47)
5. +1 Skill bonus potion (one) for each and every individual manager who
fights in all 12 rounds AND 54 fights of the Turf War. Bonus potion must be applied
to a living warrior from (DM 47)
These RSI awards will be listed by the Moderator for claiming from RSI (Lee)
within 4 turns of the end of TW VI. The certs will be mailed to the winning alliance
by the Moderators within two weeks of the end of the TW.
Moderators:
The Moderators for this event will be Oz and Master Darque. They will arbitrate all
dealings during the course of the contest. Their decisions will be final. All
questions, comments, and scoring disputes may be directed to Land of Oz or Darque
